And just weeks later, we have a case for a new number 1 or 2 - the record-setting Bruins blowing a 3-1 series lead against the wildcard Florida Panthers.

Every modern leaf’s series
@@shoresy4084Leafs did not choke all of them, 2013 and 2021 were, but most of their first round exits went the series distance, against a tough opponent. They are playing another tough opponent in Tampa, should be another good series.
This one's gonna need some updating...
Really think the Leafs going up 3-1 on Montreal and then ultimately losing the series a couple years ago belongs in the top ten. That was hilarious by the way.
Maybe you mentioned this & I missed it - What about the 1980 Stanley Cup Finals? Philadelphia had an awesome year with 116 points and setting a record 35 game unbeaten streak. They cruised through the playoffs, and no one gave The Islanders any chance. Six games later The Islanders were raising the Stanley Cup and Flyers fans were crying.
That's an excellent callout - didn't see it in the articles I sourced, but it warrants at least an honorable mention.
Tbf the islanders won the presidents trophy the year prior and three cups in the years after. Both were great teams and it was a hard fought 6 games. I don’t really see how it was a choke. An upset sure, but not a choke.
Good Point,@@politicalbandwagon4989
It’s now time to update this list!
"You're the first team to win the presidents trophy and not what a single game" - UrinatingTree
I have one that I really enjoyed (and I'm not even a Devils fan)... the Philadelphia Flyers choking in the 2000 Conference Finals after going up 3-1 in the series, and holding home ice advantage. They lost 3 straight (2 of which were at home), and Scott Stevens knocked Eric Lindros right out of his Flyers jersey for good.
i know Avs fans who still *hate* the Minnesota Wild more than any other team because of that playoff series in '03
We all know the 65 win Bruins need to be on this list 😊 #Panthers
I think the 2009-2010 Washington Capitals deserved to be mentioned in this video. They won 54 games, scored 121 points, and won the President's Trophy. In the first round, they faced the 8th-seed Montreal Canadiens. After taking a 3-1 series lead, the Habs came back to win games 5-7, thanks in large part to outstanding goaltending by Jaroslav Halak, who limited the Capitals offense (who had scored 315 goals as a team during the regular season) to just 3 goals total in the final three games of that series.
we've got a new number 1
I'm impressed. You did your research. I was sure this list was going to be all in the last 20years. The fact you went deep into history really impresses me. Good Job!!
Thanks so much! Definitely one of my favorite comments of recent memory.
I’ll never understand how the 90s Penguins didn’t win at LEAST 3 Cups. I mean Jesus look at some of those rosters…
Have I ever mentioned my dislike for the Islanders 😂.
Penguins and Rangers fans agreeing on something XD
2023 Bruins say hello
If the west wins the cup its gonna be a choke
As a Sharks fan, how could you not mention 2019 round 1, Sharks v Golden Knights. Granted game 7 had a bad call by the refs which likely changed the outcome, Vegas had a 3-1 series lead and blew it.
Yeah, I think that series could easily be in the conversation.
That Avs ‘03 collapse haunts me to this day.
I am surprised you didn't put game 7 in this
Yeah, as bad of a meltdown as that was, there were just some others that I thought were more deserving. Maybe it would qualify for the top-10 in this century.
1990 NHL Smythe Division Semi-Finals
Los Angeles Kings defeat Calgary Flames 4-2
This is a hot take so take it with a grain of salt but #1 is The only thing the blue jackets can flex for now……but i could see them having a better chance at making the playoffs or at most winning at least a cup down the road if they get good talent from the draft…..connor bedard is a good start 😉 i do pity cbj fans imo yall got a okay team and untapped potential…….this year though…….a big chunk of their roster was injured this season i hope cbj wins a cup within the next 10-15 years their fans deserve one been to a game yall fanbase is very loyal in columbus imo but still that upset against tb surprised me
2013 Bruins/Blackhawks, Finals, Game 6. Bruins had the lead with just over a minute to go and Chicago scored 2 goals in 20 seconds or so. Now that’s how you choke.
So you're making a vid on the leafs? 😅
Hahah well they do make a dubious appearance on this list, but they also accomplished something incredible in one of these other chokes that may never happen again :)
Global series is heading to Melbourne! It’s LA vs. Arizona.
Gonna have a prediction and put 2023 Bruins on this list
BOLD a.f. but maybe Alex Lyon will go god mode.

And now we have a new number 1😂
Alternate title: Top 10 Leafs Playoffs Performances
Kings reverse sweep should’ve been number 1..
How bout those penguins
2013 Boston Toronto?

The craziest thing about the islanders losing in 7 to the flyers after reverse sweeping the penguins is that they ALMOST reverse swept the Flyers too, that year definitely set the stage for what would eventually become the Islanders dynasty
Oh wow, I didn't know they almost did it twice in the same run!
Kings/Oilers of last year. Definitely nowhere near this list, but still a bad one.
i want what you’re smoking lmao
Where’s the 2020 leafs and habs series? That was a pathetic collapse from the leafs they were up 3-1 in the series against a team in montreal that shouldn’t have even been in the playoffs, and they somehow blew the next three.
I hate thinking about that series, it is painful for me everytime I think about it. The Leafs should have won that series, my confidence was high after game 4, and then... They blew it when I never thought it would happen. Now I have mixed feelings for the Leafs for this upcoming series.
Price decided to turn into a god that year. Then he turned human in the finals and Montreal was exposed for the mediocre team they were. But still, gotta give Price credit for carrying that team for 3 rounds.
Jeez. Hawks had top 5-6 goalies EVER in a tandem. Young, but still crazy to have Belfour and Hasek at once
2013 bruins and Leafs playoffs?
That third period collapse was awful, and you could say the same thing about the Oilers against the Ducks in 2017 and the Knights against the Sharks in 2019. I kept 2013 off the list because the Leafs had rallied back from down 3-1 in the series and were the lower seeded team, so even though they choked at the end, they weren't supposed to be in that position necessarily.
I actually like how my fandom for the Sharks began with that 2014 series lol.
Number 6 never happened, I don't know what you're talking about.
Hocke
Was at game three and six in f the kings run. After three were like that was a good season. After six was like they are broken no way we lose 9:28
No Dallas stars vs Golden knights???
The Knights' performance that round was definitely underwhelming. I don't think it's quite on the level as some of the other series in recent years. I'll throw it back to you though: What stood out to you in that series?
@@TwistedWristerHockey the stars beaten every team to the finals with a backup goalie and pretty much made the #1 seed knights looks foolish when stars could’ve been beaten in round one (I’m a stars fan) every series went to game 6-7
@@TwistedWristerHockey the knights got overwhelmed by a decent defense and a decent offense
@@vampireprince6730 You make an especially good point in that the Knights' offense just couldn't get anything going; they struggled a little bit with that when DeBoer was there. Now then...with PDB behind your bench, can you beat the Avs in a best-of-7 again?
@@TwistedWristerHockey anything can happen in 4 game series we’re definitely not getting swept
*getting ready for some Canucks flashbacks!* ... oh... oh ok ... nice :)
Lol how about that :)
bro's eyes are bluer than my future damn
Thanks for the history lesson man
This sounds weird, but I miss my wings choking in the playoffs….y’know….being in the playoffs and actually being a top team? I miss those days😢 but great video!
I can at least empathize with that (as a Sharks fan)!
@@TwistedWristerHockey we’ll both get there again one day don’t worry 😉
