- When we’re making videos with any sort of a top list, they are usually about different vehicles of War Thunder. This is not one of those videos; today we’ll be speaking about ammunition - or, more precisely, about tank shells with the biggest penetration rates.

To Sekrit dokuments It’s a good round as long as you have a good gun to boot. The long barrel 88 (KwK43) at 6.7 regularly 1-2 shots vehicles...at least in my experience.
They need to actually fix that shell. Granted it’s good. But, it ain’t it’s actual historical counterpart. It has much more pen value.

Hilding Thurdin Yeah it really is a tricky question. Historically the German vehicles were just ahead of the game for a time, but that wouldn’t be fair in game to have a Tiger H1 clubbing an early Sherman.
You forgot the 183mm HESH from the FV4005
and the 165mm HESH from the centurion mk.5 AVRE which can be lobbed over the entirety of the Normandy map town
The 183mm HESH is no longer competitive, when you hit the upper plate of a panther, it barely knocks out the driver

Lorraine 40t is my favorite tank, when you get a 3-4 kill ratio, it's affordable
@@isni1946 if you get the right d/k ratio every tank is playabil XD But that not every time the case, mostly you get shot in the time you can score up to 2 kills. Making more then that reliably need serious skill and a bit of luck everytime you meet another enemy.

@@covb2615 I agree, the Crusader with the 57mm was a killer. That gun at that BR just murders things. Against T34 Shermans and Panzer IV, the brittish solid AP is underwhelming. At those BR's UK tanks have no advantage at all. And the Firefly, God, the 76mm Shermans and T34 85 outclass it so badly. It only has some extra pen, that is it. But what you cannot or can pen with the 17 pounder you can also do equally with 76mmUS or 85mm soviet, plus you have explosive filler. The Commet is better as it has sabot, speed and gun depression. Churchill III I find inferior to the KV's, the mark VII is tough, but the gun is so underwhelming, especially with the volumetric retardness.
@@Vlad_-_-_ I agree. Getting upteared while playing british low-mid tiers is hell. High tiers are where it shines. But if you can play good (sniping etc) then the rewards are pretty neat. But i myself cant snipr well. Hence i avoid playing britain until i can

So, Gaijin refuses to show God tier shells in their tier list
What about the Panzergranate 40 for the 20mils. They are at least in my mind the most feard rounds on low BR
Not only low tier, even 7.3 British tanks are no match if you position yourself correctly

Neither do I, I make them work regardless of how they’re lacking compared to their historical counterparts. And they’re not “grenades”.

They were actualy designed to be out of stalinium. So they can penetrate even modern mbt like leclerc as shown in the video so they are completly historycali acurate

He says in the video the reason they pen angled armor better is because they have a flat nose which has better normalization. Example: the 85mm APHEBC.

American T34 stock round, lol-pens anything at its BR, outstanding post pen damage for a round with no explosive filler and lastly almost 300mm of pen with great angle modifiers and high velocity, all at 6.7
I ricochet those things constantly in my King Tiger. Like my turret even. I'm not sure how it happens but T34s don't hurt it but T29s really do damage to it
I think the Japanese 3.7-5.0 Type 4 Kou deserves to be on this list
a similar shell to it is used by the Na-To which is 3.3

No, he mentions it in the T-34-85 part, they're flat nose shells that have better normalization.

@UCRBNM2XZI85ofQrzLmfy1ag Yes, and it trades raw penetrating power for it. The perfect example here is the T-44. It has access to both the BR365A and the BR367, which has a whole 30mm of extra penetration, but worse normalization. The BR367 can pen the jumbo's UFP under about 400m, but the BR365A can pen until about 700m. Also the D5-T and the Kwk 36 L/56 are pretty similar in caliber and velocity, so the raw penetration difference is made up for by the normalization.

The T-10 has the apcbc that can pen 290mm of armor, sometimes faces some nice armored tanks but its very efective, and easy to hit becouse of the gun stabilizer.

The M82 shot is amazing and should be on this list!
If only the M82 was historically accurate though.
There were two variants, M82 early and M82 late. The early one had more explosive filler but less penetration than the late one. The in-game M82 combines the worst parameters of both shells.

Wow... the APHE round the Germans use in the panzer IVs from F2 upwards didn't get a mention. That's odd as nothing short of a jumbo can stand up to them. And nothing can pen a jumbo at that BR

T-34 APHE best shell
i notice none of these rounds have shaped charges in the tip(84mm Carl Gustav HEAT 751 Shaped Charge tamdem warhead) or depleted uranium penetrator spikes,a shape charge punches through armor and depleted uranium burns as it penetrates to keep sharpening the spike more penetration
I also really like the APCBC shell for the T-44. It can't pen a panther's hull, but it's not bad.
Pzgr.39 Old but gold
Nothing wrong with the good ol' 88mm PzGr 39. It wrecks anything but some full uptier opponents like the Tiger 2(H) and Jagdpanther's frontal armour if you know how to aim, and you rarely have to worry about not doing enough internal damage even if it's got slightly less filler than the default Pzgr.
M10 is my favourite tank do far in WT :) Its very rare situation to not kill enemy with one shot!
I love the 2nd place shell. The gun on that m10 gmc just feels violent

2 Things, lord snail. Can we see an option to disable the automatic turret movements when tracking a plane/helicopter in a ground vehicle with radar, and will we be seeing a Dardo IFV for the Italian ground forces?

Most likely will never happen as gaijin would have to fix so many vehicles as well as the fact the IS-3 which is at best debatably a WW2 tank would face tanks such as the Tiger I which in turn would face vehicles such as the M4A1 which in turn would face the M13 in the italian tree, ect balance wouldn't really work there

The PzGr 39/43 is the only pzgr worth mentioning but that's my opinion cause I'm biased and love The Tiger II

Hi Bruce i know that you and the development team are very busy, but i wonder if there is any chance adding a Swedish tech tree into the game?
Some examples of tanks are the: Strv L-60, Strv m/39, Strv m/31. And for the premiums:T-37A( A russian light tank with amphibious capabilities ), SdKfz 140( A Czech light tank ).
Some examples of planes are the: FFVS J 22, J 3, J 21( SAAB 21 ), Tp 12 and SAAB 17. And for the premiums: B 3( A german civilian airliner which was remade as a bomber by the swedes ), S 16( An Italian/Swedish made Reconnaissance aircraft which could also be used as a light bomber, Torpedo bomber and a Light transport aircraft ).

can I ask one thing, after the penetrate system change thing, I see most of the APHE shell (at least for rank 2~3, for example, Sherman tank) seem to be even better than the AP round or similar, so basically have a best of both world already with piecing and explosive filler, so what the point of unlocking AP shell or similar ? (aside from the one like APDS and apcr , of course, not count the post-war one) since they are now less penetrate than the APHE round now
I would add T-13 shell used in T-29 and Doom Turtle. When it pens it destroys everything

Yoi forgot arguably the best shell for its tier in the game, the 90/53 m41m's Granata Perforante da 90, and the even heavier Granata Perforante mod.43. Both do unbelievable damage for a t3 vehicle.

You forgot both the Shot Mk.8 found on the Achilles, it's a better round than the M10's solid shot M79 and, because of the high weight, even in post penetration better or equal to the M62 shell!

The t13 round found in the T29 heavy tank is nuke.
And surprising no-one, the only German shell even mentioned in this video is a howitzer.
And about the 128mm PzGr 43 on the Sturer Emil at 5.0? nothing can survive this shot at this BR.
How BR-365A (APHEBC) can be better against sloped armor than APCBC(what has C capped shell on the round against the sloped armor)?!
