- Despite the fact that most vehicles available in War Thunder are production vehicles, you will still run into unique experimental machines here and there. Those prototypes and pre-production models were used as testing grounds for many unorthodox design choices and interesting technologies, often years or decades ahead of their time. Today we’re going to speak about the most striking and curious experimental designs that you can find in the game!

Those two don't have much place in the game until Gaijin finally figures out that we need a split between WW2 and Cold War vehicles.

Panther 2 and 105mm tiger 2 got removed because no real prototypes were built as for the maus is because they don't know how to balance it so they removed it to remove the problem

Don’t let them act as if the Maus, Tiger 105, Panther II, and Coelian never existed! Slowly but surely they’re going to hope it fades out of everyone’s memory. Remember the fallen!
Ingenious Orange three of those tanks never existed and the maus was removed because German players bitched about it even though it was competitive at 7.7
Tiger 105 - never build with that cannon or even tested.
Coelian - just wooden mockup.
Panther 2 - never build with that turret and that tech.
Maus - 2 units were build which only one was fully build with turret and tested.

Mr. Triangle Wether or not it was historical is irrelevant. Gaijin (at the time) rightfully added those tanks and now that they run conveniently contrary to their practices they act as if they were never released. Mark my words, in a year or two when everybody’s ‘forgotten’ about those tanks they’re going to add them back for another difficult event which will prompt players to spend money. It’s the equivalent of photoshopping someone out of a photo and erasing their history only to cash in on their name.
Urdnot Wrex you are right on the tiger, the panther and the koelian, but the maus had not 1 but 2 protoypes built, yes one had a weight box instead of a turret, but the other one was fully built, you can even see them at the Kubinca tank museum (the turret is from the no.2 and the hull from no.1), as this video shows, there are many prototypes in the game, but for some reasons, one of the most iconic heavy tanks was removed because it was “impossible to balance” while at the same time you have things like the 279 trolling the sh*t out of 8.3 american/german players, but since those are russians they can do that right?
Well the Maus actually existed and was used in one fight. The Tiger 105 was never used, the Panther 2 never put together, and the fakepanther never existed

Maaaaaaan, the real reason why many players (including myself) wants to grind Germany was to have the maus. At this point, I wouldn't even care if im uptiered or not, but being able to control such a chonky boi and feel superior is more than satisfying (for me at least).
Ever since the maus was removed I lost all motivation to play the German tree

I was only around 5k RP off the tiger 2 when it was removed, I was grinding Germany and America at the same time. I am top tier American now, still only have the tiger e lol.

They can just pump the repair cost up to a millilon SL, 10 GE per ton of shot amunition shot and you'll need 1.000 spawn points to spawn in it.
Ive tested many vehicles in high tier and i found the asu-57 the most effective
I recommend playing the Daimler AC Mk.II too, if you get used to it, this thing can shred even rank III sometimes

He was removed 'cause he cant be balanced, too much armor for fighting ww2 tanks, but too slow for cold war tanks. Also im 5.7 in ussr and still find impossible to fight tiger's II.
Well the thing u need to do with russian tanks is to flank cuz they dont rly have good weaponry, it might depend on the type off tank u play.....if u talk about 5.7 tiger u can aim any were around the
Chassie or if u pay attention , when the tiger is angled try to aim low near the front track there u can pen it for sure . If it is the 6.7 tiger , the thing is that russia doesn't rly have a 6.7 lineup soo u need to be careful on ure shell tragectory and aiming . The efficient thing to do it is by flanking or staying in ambush position so u can have a nice view over the side off the turret or off the tank side . Hope u understood me . Gl man

Heavy Maus was a Armored Lord of the Heavy Tanks, so Armored and so wise he could use the Armor to influence The Shells to bounce off him ... He had such a knowledge of the Armor that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. But not himself
Also Gaijin, if you read this, dont think we are stupid. In the last patch you didnt mention that the repair cost was going to rise in some vehicles, and guess what, I cant use my spitfire mk24 as much as I would love to because its in a complicated br and it can be shot down easily by jets, meaning that everytime I get shot down I lose 20k, and nope Im not spending money again in War Thunder because some items are really overpriced for what they really are

M1A1HA (Heavy Armor): Added 1st generation depleted uranium armor components. Some tanks were later upgraded with 2nd generation depleted uranium armor components, and are unofficially designated M1A1HA+.

My favorite is probably a bit unusual, but I love the Kranvagn. I love the way the AMX-50 and the IS-3 looks, and then the sweeds just merged the two tanks into one armored beast.
Is it possible that in the future we can get a feature that makes wooden structures burst in flames if hit with enough fire power? It would make the battles more intense and interesting.
A proper implementation of fire could be really cool.
The HSTVL in real life had a 0.5 second reload time, not the 1.5 second that gaijin decided to give it

The maus was removed because it essentially became obsolete because of APDS and ATGM’s not cause it was strong. I was able to disable a maus with APDS pretty easily.
Also I killed that same maus with a swordfish, it was a great game lol

They already made a statement on the Sturmtiger if I'm not mistaken. It would be pretty much unplayable due to it's extreme reload time.

@@SalamanderBattleBrother It would be fun to play it temporary, just for fun of course. But Real battles? That would be a pain in the ass. Sure, the grenade it fires would be devastating but let's be honest...how fucked up would the match be for the one who plays with it? ^^ People would be able to launch only one or maybe two rounds in the entire match due to extreme reload times (it took around 15 minutes to reload it).
I rather stick to the AVRE which is at least a bit close to it but has a way better reload time. :D

The United Defense M8 Armored Gun System was an American light tank that was intended to replace the M551A1 Sheridan in the 82nd Airborne Division, as well as being expected to replace TOW-equipped Humvees in the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment (2nd ACR). The number of "they forgott the Maus, Tiger 105, Coelian and Panther 2" just shows how overpopulated germany is and how many wehraboos exist.
Thats why the Panther D is at 5.3. Thats why the Pz. IV 70(V) is at 5.3. Thats why the M4A3 (76) is at 5.7. Its because wehraboos rather cry then learn how to play.

I know there not really experamentle but the P6M seamaster and the B52 stratofortress. The seamaster was a navy flaying boat that was built, teated and ordered in result of the B52. It would be wonderfull to see one or both in game some time in the future!
I got a suggestion to have this where you can test drive any vehicles you want.
The Swedish STRIX autoloaded turret used in the Swedish and Finish AMOS system capable of firing Top Down Sensor Fused end-phase-guided projectiles / terminal guidance weapons. With its pair of 120mm mortars firing at 12 rounds per minute; it can employ multiple round simultaneous impact, allowing up to 16 Rounds to hit the target area AT THE SAME SECOND. It does this by altering the charge per round and fire angle so that Time of Flight (TOF) for all 8 shots of each of the two barrels are spaced that the reload time plus TOF is the same for all the rounds. It is being tested on a range of vehicles Sisu Pasi, Patria AMV and Combat Vehicle 90.
Terminal Phase Guidance Artillery that started with laser guided systems like the US copperhead and their updates such as the German 155 SMArt artillery round are the future. These rounds employ top down attack, and explosively formed penetrators to give penetration through the weakest parts of the tank, and the neural nets of their AI seekers are specifically trained to look for engine compartments and crew hatches. The very latest rounds work as a team to defeat countermeasure systems like the Israeli Trophy and the Russian Arena system. And as with the American CBU-97 which uses sensor fused skeet rounds, hundreds of cheap rounds, over very expensive MBTs win the strategic economic and logistics battle and thus the war.
The US Excalibur 100 plus mile artillery system is also testing these rounds. Consider the Americans and the British are no longer looking to replace their MBTs. Then we must consider independent drone swarms. The Tank is obsolete...
M1A1 AIM v.2/M1A1 SA (Situational Awareness): Upgrades similar to AIM v.1 tanks + new 3rd generation depleted uranium armor components. Configuration for the Royal Moroccan Army, which is almost identical to the Australian variant, except exportable turret armor is installed by General Dynamics Land System to replace the DU armor.
I like the t30 because of its turret armor and it’s gun. All you have to do is get the chassis up against some rubble or something and you’ll be bouncing shot after shot

Prototypes began testing in 2015,[146][143][147] and the first were delivered in October 2017.[148] Fielding is expected to begin in 2020
War thunder is the first game I ever played as a child, at 10 years old. I was obsessed with tanks and planes, and I loved the game. I always worked hard to get toward my goal of the tiger 105, maus, and the panther 2. Now, I come back to the game at 15 years old, finally being able to play it again. I find that you have needlessly removed there fan favourites, and my dream tanks. Please bring them back. I'm sure you can balance them somehow.

Fun fact- even apfsds rounds can’t penetrate the front of the t-95, I got the xm-1, and had to play at 9.0, and got the t-95 on the way

the amx 30 super 9.0 was an experimental vehicle with a new two plane stab that was collaborated with German and french engineers but sadly no one was interesting in buying it. only one was made.

What is your thoughts on adding premium top tear tanks? When i play at top tier there is a lot of xm-1s and the team losses because of it.
M1A1 FEP (Firepower Enhancement Package): Similar upgrade to AIM v.2 for USMC tanks.
My favorite experimental design I have in game is probably the Ho-Ri Production or the Object 906
I hope they bring in canister shot for all the smooth bore MBTs. Help with planes and helicopters.
SU-122-54 and Object 268 and IS-7 are my favorites of the experimental vehicles and vehicles that didn’t go into production

I would love to see the KV-3 and KV-9. Both were fully built and tested, so I don't see any reason why not to add them.
@@skyguard155 Not exactly: the T-150, the prototype of the KV-3, was build and even used during the Siege of Leningrad, but the KV-3 itself was never build. Only a hull existed and it got destroyed. And the T-150 is just a KV-1 with 90mm front armor and a 700 hp engine. But the KV-9 would be nice, playing a KV tank with a 122mm howitzer.
@@plagu3tank836 How about the KV-220-2? It was another KV-220 but they took off its turret with the 85mm and repurposed it as a static defense, then they added the KV-1 (ZiS-5) turret on the hull of the KV-220.
@@skyguard155 I heard about it, it actually was used during the Siege of Leningrad too. Would be a nice idea, but it would be quite difficult to balance. You have the massive hull and engine of the KV-220, but then you use the weak ZiS-5 gun and vunerable KV-1 turret.
Another idea would be the KV-1 mod. 1942! It's the KV-1 with a cast steel turret, which had around 100mm armor and wasn't flat like the other versions. Actually the german KV-1 with the 75mm gun use that turret. Also there would be the KV-13, which was the tank, which influnced the design for the IS-series. Then again there is the KV-7, a tank destroyer based on the KV-1 and armed with two 45mm and one 76mm gun. Another version (KV-7-2) was build with two 76mm guns...
