Honestly, people need to have a realistic expectation of Haunted Chocolatier. For those who were not around at the beginning of Stardew Valley dev. it took YEARS for that game to develop, even after it being announced. It's going to be a long wait, and I hope that fans do not rush Ape so that he actually gets the joy of developing it without feeling a ton of pressure.
This. He cares so deeply for his projects, and people need to just let him work and develop his projects. I bought Stardew Valley when it first came out and I fell in love with the original version and I’m so happy with ConcernedApe with all the updates he’s done to add longevity to the game. With HC, I get people are confused by the vibes/title, but people need to trust him and let him develop it. I’m so excited for HC.
Hopefully it won't be like the case of Karlson...
His skills developing games have improved greatly since then and I think he has a more solid vision of what he wants to make this time around. I definitely don't think it'll take as long a stardew but he is just one man after all.
@@StitchinNerd Honestly, even if HC isn't a masterpiece on release, I'm not worried. ConcernedApe has shown he's willing to put time, love and dedication into his works post release. I'm willing to wait with him.
It's a very different situation, it's his second game now and he already has a functional code base to work off of that he's grown familiar perfecting in Stardew already I think it's pretty reasonable to expect it to be much higher quality than Stardew was in it's release state.
Honestly, I'd be fine with just the knowledge that HC takes place in the same world as SV because that feels like it expands a world we're familiar with. Even if the connections are just small references to Stardew like mentions of Zuzu City or having Joja being the antagonistic force again I'd still be fine with that.

hey imagine if you are the game developer and watching your game became successful and lots of people still want more of this game do you feel you can make this game the greatest farm game sim more bigger or end it and remember it as it is as great game when you still had chance to improve it.

Yeah, would be nice if people would @'ing him simply about "hey, I hope you are doing alright! Thank you for making a game I love. Take care!". Even if you are being polite, pressuring a creator, even with kind words like "hey, how's the new game? Really looking forward to see what you will come up with!" can pile up very quickly. It's like having helicopter parents, if there were like, millions of them. Even if it's "because they love you/what you do", that's not healthy for the person receiving the attention at all. Trying to create anything from scratch with an entire audience watching you is just insanely stressful, just by them **being** there. As a creator myself, I personally just can't draw properly if there's people watching me, despite me doing that for decades, being a professional in the area for almost half of that time, and actually being really good at it. Frankly, him keeping away from social media as much as possible is the healthiest thing he can do for himself, and the future success of his titles.
What I respect a lot about this video is that is confirmed news, not like other channels who spread false sensationalist rumours or leak the features without the creator's consent, because it affects indie games, when people leak content without permission.

6:32 I'm actually intrigued by the title "Haunted Chocolatier" and didn't feel confused at all: I assumed it's about a chocolatier - someone who makes chocolate - who is in a haunted area or location, and we'll learn more as we play. I thought there were plenty of spooky details in the announcement trailer, and found it interesting that there were moments of bright sun outside, not just a gloomy pallete across everything. I'm excited and willing to be patient.
I also think it's interesting that Stardew Valley is a place name and Haunted Chocolatier is a name for an individual person, what they do (or their profession), and what's happening to them or their surroundings. Food - haha - for thought.

I have the same ideas~ I kinda thought it's about a chocolatier who get help by ghost, in either a haunted house or a haunted factory to make chocolate~ I also kinda think that the ghost maybe do stuff like Junimos not close but similarly
I assumed you use the ghosts to make chocolate much like the Jumio's in a Willy-Wonka/Oompa-loompa way.
I think these people when they hear "haunted" are going straight to Poltergeist and Paranormal Activity, when it's more 1990's Caspar.
I thought it just meant you were a chocolatier who is haunted by ghosts. I feel like a lot of the confusion comes from the word "haunted" because it's usually associated with malevolent beings rather than friendly ghost, but in actuality it just means a ghost is visiting you or living with you.
SV is a timeless game. It lets you play however you want to be without the pressure of completing a storyline, beating a big bad boss, or saving the world. Very low key but also important, because gaming is at the end of the day, about the player.
I can only hope for more heart events. I love the npcs but some are just so much better and more developed than others leading to them being misunderstood or hated byy the community at large. Som characters arent given much in terms of even friendly conversation. Most non marriage canidates xan become like cardboard, with the two most fleshed out ones being added as marriage canidates. I jusr want more sandy. of course i would be okay if this was it. i can read fanfictoon and browse mods and fanart

I kinda hope for something like a option communication with the npc, Marriage Candidate or not. It would be interesting, maybe not to much like effects the heart and future event, but having daily conversations with the npc would be fine without much effects. Tho, gained a small percentage of heart could be easier to date someone.
The conversation I mean is not like clicking on the npc and have the usual reply where it usual one sided. but rather having the option to talk with them. Something like
" How is your day?"
" Whose birthday next? "
" Do you need any help? "
Or if it's someone birthday
" Happy Birthday! [Npc name] "
If it's an event
" Are you excited for tomorrow? "
Or option to chat with npc we're married too
" [S/O name] can you water the corps? "
" [S/O] can you feed the chicken? "
" What did you do today? "
And maybe something like, after marriage heart events. Something like, we're knowing them more, understanding them more and stuff.
Maybe what I mean is more of our involvement into the story and into the Stardew Valley itself.
But, that just my wish tho. Having it to be true may need a lot of hard work~
I'm just weirdly hyped about the fact that stuff actually reflects in the mirrors in HC. Everytime that clip of the guy running up the stairs and past that mirror plays i'm just like "ooooohh!"

i love how the style of Haunted looks so similar to Stardew but it feels so different at the same time love the style
The main udpates I'm hoping for right now in Stardew are quality of life, and more furniture, wallpaper & floor options.
Like let us place rugs outdoors and rotate them for example. One chair to snap into ends of dining tables. Line up tables with chairs. More outdoor lights.
A few more flower options maybe like rose bushes, orchids and birds of paradise. Grow our own coconut trees?
We don't have a desert farm map yet. Only terrain I think missing. It would be the ultimate challenge.
My prediction for HC is the title. You play as a new chocolatier in a haunted place, you grow the coco, the ghost help you make the chocolate and the picture frame takes you to the other world (combat like the mines). It will have a Luigi’s mansion vibe and addicting gameplay like Stardew. I cannot wait for what he has in store!
Call me crazy but I am more interested in an entirely new cast of characters.

It kinda sucks that we don't have mod options on console since it's what blows life into it for so many people. Never would I have known though when I got stardew that this game would turn into one of my biggest resources for studying languages. There's so much words like eggs, milk, corn, wool, stone, wood, etc and weekdays and so much more so it's so good for language learning.
Same!! Mundane words like food and product names are so hard to study with normal conversations, this game taught me a lot. Glad to see someone else who share the feeling :D

The good news is its pretty cheap to get it on pc even if you already own it.
@@metracxx yes when you are on the first starting screen you can look to the right you'll see two buttons and the top one is a speech bubble. Click there to select language and the game will have all dialogue and info boxes etc in the chosen language until you choose something else again! :)

At 4:48, this isn't actually referring to mobile 1.5, but actually the 1.5 update from a completely separate game (Terraria) which is made by the person that asked the question initially. The 1.5 update is a bit of a joke in the Terraria community as 1.4 was supposed to be the final update but there have been 3 content updates since then and a 4th one coming soon.
1.3 was also supposed to be the final update
And so was 1.2
And so was 1.1
And so was 1.0.

Sharky! At 4:49, Whitney Spinks is one of the developers of Terraria. CA's not talking about SDV mobile 1.5 here - he's teasing Terraria devs about how they always update the game after its "final update."
It's already known that CA has been working with Pathoschild and other modders on making the game more mod-friendly. I can't wait to see what changes will come once we get a more mod compatible update.
Glad the 1.6 won't be out before mobile 1.5! I've been waiting for years for 1.5, so I would have been unhappy with that! It's gonna be a while for HC, but the teases look great. I know I will love it too!

I really appreciate the afford that ConcernedApe puts on his games. I’ll definitely buy haunted chocolatier to support his work and play his game he put so much afford into.
I hope 1.6 also has a modding API (even for console) like Skyrim or fallout 4 so we can all easily instal mods as well as providing modders with more tools.

i hope that he will eventually add a "match maker" content update. I love all the residents of Pelican town and would love to be able to take pairs of them and lead them towards relationships with eachother! There are the obvious pairing which are evident through out the game (and maybe these would be the easiest pairings to have happen) but it would be great to be able to match up Sebastian & Penny or Sebastian & Abigail (which way will make the most people happy?) are you going to let Clint end up with Emily? or will Emily & Maru get together this run... it would be such a great bit of final content for such a great game, and would help the world to feel more cohesive as you all start to settle down and have kids...

I always thought it sucked that the other characters never paired off together. That happened in older Harvest Moon games and I loved it.
But I guess players these days would complain about X stealing their girl and throw a shitfit online before tracking the devs to their homes to stare menacingly through their windows... Ya know, your typical comic-con goer experience.

I'd like too see more variety in dialogues on yearly holidays. After the first year you can just ignore them, 'cause you've already seen everything.
With the question asking CA when 1.6 would drop and he responded "when 1.5 drops!" I believe he meant Terrraria 1.5 as the person who aked him, Whitney Spinks, works on Terraria which is currently in 1.4.
If there's new content in 1.6 I hope it's focused on the farm & socializing. As it is 1.5 and the entire endgame revolves so much around combat.
I’d like it if the npc’s had seasonal outfits. I already know there’s a mod for it, but for the few console players still around, they can’t do mods
I am so excited for Haunted Chocolatier, and seeing the Stardew Valley Universe expanding while the new game still has items own identity. I look forward to buying it.
I understand that he wants to make it easier for mods, and I'm ok with that, but I hope if he doesn't add new content that he makes some quality of life changes for the game as a whole. Like the ability to check your monster slayer progress without having to go to the adventures guild.
Imagine how easy it would be to just open Steam Workshop and click subscribe, and boom, you have the mod.
I love how ARK does this. It's so much easier to add QOL mods. I don't like file digging because I've messed up a fair amount of saves because of it haha. Being able to subscribe on steam workshop and not needing to add a million folders with very specific names and all that is very nice.

We've been waiting for 1.5 to come to mobile ever since PC players got it in December 2020. It's nearly July 2022 now. 1.6 can wait damnit.

I would love it if we could get one last set of marriage candidates for Stardew valley. I know that there are a bunch added in Stardew expanded and other such mods, but I prefer to play the vanilla game with tweaks such as retextures or quality of life updates rather than game changing mods; so it would be nice to see a new candidate, even if it's just a tweak to make Sandy marriageable since I know a lot of us wish we could marry her.

I think him focusing on making improvements to SV for modders is smart. Making the game more better to mod really helps the longevity of the game. It allows new content even after when he decides to stop adding content.
It sounds like 1.6 may be complete already. I would love to play 1.5. I bought a Switch to play 1.6 but I hated the controls and never played it and decided to patiently wait. I love this game.

Pretty sure, Haunted Chocolatier is a shop simulation/management game (like Recettear and its predecessor Chantelise, Castle Shop, Traveler's Rest, Moonlighter...) at least that is what it looks like to me. And if I am correct on this, then it is confirmed that I either had a visit from Concerned Ape in my dreams or that I can predict the future through dreaming. Because even before he ever announced his new game, I had a dream where I just bought 3 new games supposedly made by him. And one of these games I ended up playing in my dream, which was a shop simulator type of game, where you were a little boy with a dog that ran a lemonade stand. You can't imagine how baffled I was after seeing some gameplay of his new game recently. While it clearly isn't about a Lemonade stand, obviously, I think I might have been on point with the type of game he is making....and that's spooky LOL

when i was in my mid teens back in the late 80s there was a NES game for the film Willow that i used to love and play all the time The Haunted Chocolatier clips where the character is walking through the first and fighting monsters reminds me so much of that game. i look forward to it and no pressure from me for him to rush it.
the bee sprite looks almost exactly like the one from the game secret of mana on the SNES and that makes me really happy

I don’t really use many mods, even though I’ve been thinking about getting into them. Been playing since release and, oddly, it never got boring to me, but working on getting all the achievements, I’d like to try something new, so I’m glad there will be more mod support. I’m thinking next update might be a few more quality of life changes/items, but nothing game changing like Ginger Island.
As for HC, I’m okay with it being in the same world/universe, maybe having ancestors or children of people from Stardew Valley, or items from the game. After seeing how great he did with Stardew, I’m truly not worried about HC. I know it’s in good hands and I look forward to playing it whenever it comes. Also, the title doesn’t make sense? The game DOES look Halloween/spooky; but I realize a lot of people assume that can only look one way. It just seems more gothic, to me.
My question is...will Mr. Qi be a reference? Could he be a guest shopper for chocolate?
4:39 Actually that's one of the devs for Terraria. I'm pretty sure Concerned Ape's comment on 1.5 was referring to Terraria's 1.4.9 update that's in the works maybe just fully becoming a 1.5 update, which has been a hotly debated subject for months now in the Terraria community.

Same....tbh i wish i could have the mod where you can use your scythe to harvest crops. Thats a game changer but i like playing on my switch more than pc.
This. So much this. My first playthrough was with mods- specifically mods to make Marlon, Gunther and the Wizard functioning NPCs and marriage candidates, and they were so wonderful that playing the vanilla game on the switch just feels kind of... lifeless. I love the combat even more (i was playing on a laptop without a mouse, so a controller is a huge step up), but I just can't stand the NPCs and hate that I have to marry one of them to get that final stardrop. I miss Marlon so much.
Honest question is it Nintendo that makes the game unable to be modded on the switch? Or is it something CA has to do?

That "someone" is wife of Redigit, creator of Terraria. Might be a coincidence but I think that they're refering to 1.5 version of Terraria, which is now in major version 1.4. That to say, you'll get Stardew Valley 1.6 when we get Terraria 1.5
I hope the future Stardew Valley update, makes it possible to mod on switch lite🍀🍀 that would be awesome🤗

I could be wrong, but I believe CA is talking about Terraria 1.5 when talking to Whitney at 4:45 , as she is one of the people who work on Terraria, which still happens to be under the 1.4 version.
I'm guessing this will be the last update for a while so CA can focus on the new game. Seems like 1.6 wont have much new content and will instead focus on making it easier for us to use and create mods. We're in good hands, Stardew has a great modding community :)

UPDATE CLINT!!! Seriously it would go a long way to update his dialog to he doesn’t ask for dating advice on your wife! He had that dialog back when Emily wasn’t a a marriage candidate. It’s about time that gets fixed.

Also with 1.6 focusing on Mod support, it would be fun if some of the added content was fully authored versions of some of the most enjoyed mods out there as official parts of the game. Things like the NPC seasonal outfit mod make so much sense, it would be cool to see what Eric Barone would do with it in his exact style... or maybe bring in some of the characters and storylines from Stardew Expanded? there are a lot of mods that really feel very at home in stardew, so it would be cool to see them "canonized"
that would be a dream to me since I play on console and I can't put mods on there so I'm missing on tons of cool stuff
So great that Eric is still supporting SV after all this time, I still haven’t finished all the 1.5 content so am not hurting for things to do. My biggest wish is that we could have a mod shop on Playstation, I don’t mind paying for content, I just want choice. Haunted Chocolatier is a “shoe in” for my games list but I want it on Playstation not ***** Windows!
On 4:45 i think ConcernedApe wants to say when terraria 1.5 released because (Whitney Spinks is terraria developer) terraria developers said that they aren't going to update game they will let modders advance terraria similar ConcernedApe

I feel like with the "when 1.5 drops!" here they mean when Terraria 1.5 drops, since Whitney Spinks (the one who tweeted to ConcernedApe there) is one of the main Terraria developers
I think that is the ambiance and the colors that give away the haunted aspect of the game, the old clock the wallpapers it make sense to me.

Honestly while I have SV on pc I'm primarily a console player - I'm rarely home. I'd love some quality of life updates: locking tools in bags slots so we can sort other things, shop updates, etc. But most of all, I'd love to be able to have new content from modders as official release. SVE is the most expansion, well known and well used mod in the community and I have played less than 2 hours in it compared to over 600 hours in 1 save game on my switch. If I'm going to game on my pc it's going to be something I only have on pc 85% of the time, and that includes a lot more than SV.
Being able to play SVE on console would bring a boost in sales, especially in new console players who play on pc only cuz they can't play a similar game on console; console exclusive players and vanilla pc players get content they've only seen online

He's got ghosts working for him...that's the haunted part. I don't see where the confusion is coming from.
Haunted in this genre doesn't always mean gothic homes and horror. Look at the use of ghosts in manga, anime, and children's cartoons. Sometimes scary or spooky, but not always. Caspar the Friendly Ghost comes to mind.

Lol there was plenty of diversity, but the only diversity you care about is diversity of skin color. Go play another game if SV bothers you, there's plenty out there that are willing to appease your narrow minded world view.

This isn't really supposed to be hating on CA, but it does kinda suck that it's taken so long for 1.5 to get added to mobile, and he's now working on an entirely new (albeit small) update to make SV mod-supportive.

From my understanding (and I could be totally wrong), he has a team of people working on the mobile update, and he's had trouble with that in the past, and had to get new people and start over or something like that. which is why it's taking so long.
CA actually makes the content and coding for the game itself, and he hires other people to help with things like languages and mobile

@@LuckyOwI777 I know this, I just feel like he doesn't care for mobile players as much as others since he's working on all these other things (that are going to take a long time to finish) while mobile players have been neglected for over a year. If it's such a difficulty to work on mobile updates then don't start other, harder work when you still have this big thing to get done. I suppose I'm just whining about time management lol I wanna play on Ginger Island!!!! Hh

He's hiring other people to do it, and he had problems with the team that started on it, had to find new people, and it was just a mess.
Wether or not he starts new projects or not, isn't going to impact the mobile release, since he's not the one doing the majority of the work. From what I understand
we need rework on hospital so it sell useful goods each day had different variety of goods that help player and if we friends with doc love rise it add or unlock more useful goods , no one mention this .
