who uses two-strokes anymore, four-strokes are so much more quiet and the two-stroke oil is expensive. so nice to just fill up and go, without worrying about two-stroke oil. i fish monterey bay and almost everyone is running four-strokes.
@@investigativeoutcomes9343 It's probably a 50/50 split between two and four stroke motors here in Australia. America has a bigger popluation so things cost less. The cost here is the main factor. Having personally used a brand new Yamaha F150, while it was easy to use, it couldn't get onto plane any quicker than my V4 130 Saltwater series, which is a whole lot cheaper.
@@jrbuch the four strokes are really expensive, i bought my honda 200 back in 2003 for 13,000 thousand, and recently was looking at a new one and they are now like 20 grand or more. It still runs like new, knock on wood. going to the honda 200 from a 97 yamaha 175 two-stroke was like night and day, so fking quiet you sometimes don't know if it's running or not.. The fuel economy did not change though, the 200 might burn more, not sure.
At some point in time, we have to transition away from engines that pollute horribly. Maybe stop the sale of these motors and grandfather the old ones in.
Yeah there's limited places to buy new 2-Strokes, most brands stopped selling them in the USA new since like 2018ish, granted Evinrude and others lol also you can order a 2-Stroke brand new Hangkai from Walmart today lol
Best engine I ever had was a 2 stroke 1999 Tohatsu 140. Owned it for 14 years and never had to repair anything. Routine maintenance (gear lube, plugs, and water pump) only operated exclusively in saltwater.
They banned all 2 strokes in Norway in 2007 🇳🇴 But Evinrude was meeting the emissions so they were able to continue until they shutdown in 2020 😢 Best regards 2 stroke lover
I'm a little confused. While that does sound typical California, I researched it further and found that while 2-strokes are banned on some small lakes and other confined bodies, even today, no laws outright prohibit 2-strokes on river systems and salt water connected waterways. In fact I couldn't find any State that does. He might wanna pursue that further and take it to court, if some bureaucrat dickhead thinks he's gonna be Mr Environment and make up his own rules, contrary to State Law.

Took my boat out the other day, plenty of 2 strokes here still operating in Australia. I have a Yamaha V4 130 and still operating great.

I am sure that is coming one day ,I remember when NJ tried to tax boaters with a $25 luxury tax and boaters protested and it went away

loud and smelly!
I will never, but im in SC also. Not a whole lot of emission standards to start with

I feel like if they're going to make a perfectly legal thing illegal, they have to reimburse you for it.
masters in cali don't like boaters and fishermen.
They would have to kill me to stop me from running my 07 Yamaha 115 2 stroke
two strokes are light but they stink and are loud and you have to worry about carrying two-stroke oil..
I thought they banded 2 strokes along time ago. Good on them those things are noisy as hell
Surprisingly California did not ask about Boat motors, sounds like a Texas thing
would you consider chaparral boats a top Noch boat?
no
No, I think they are a good boat, but I wouldn't put them up at the top of the line

Honestly I think the guy just made it up
Who knows :/ I didn't do any digging myself either lol
europe got rid of 2 stroke back in 2008........
I thought pursuit and tiara is built by s2 yachts thanks
They did but Malibu boat Pursuit in 2018 so they own Pursuit boats now
Definitely not california i have all 2 strokes and just registered two of them for two more yrs.
yeah, two strokes still running in cali.
Why dont you just come out and say that wouldnt happen in a free state.
Lol :)
So ARE THEY BANNED??? (“Click bait?…No please!)
no
