My Suzuki blew up. 2022 200hp 4 stroke. Maintenance done and well taken care of. It was replaced under warranty and will be picking it up later next week. I will absolutely buy another Suzuki without question. Especially from Nick’s Creative Marine in West Palm Beach. Both Suzuki and Nick’s stood behind their product and made it as painless as could be. Excellent customer service all the way around! Plus you can’t beat the fuel economy
Yamaha SHO 250 (Really an all mechanical 300) Year model 2015 1500 hrs flawless performance sold for 13K and repowered with a 2023 250 SHO 800 hours to date absolutely flawless
I'm lucky because I'm not running power. I have an air cooled four stroke TomKing TK144FC. It's 23 LBS, so it goes home in the closet. The fuel tank pours empty in a minute and the primer gets the last drops. I filed and shimmed the ignition back for a better idle and changed the centrifugal clutch springs to lighter ones so it trolls perfectly. I can carry it up and down flights of stairs and it has never skipped a beat. If I ever get a bigger motor, the TomKing stays.
Hi you should check out the newer mercury fourstroke outboards my family has a 9.9 and a 40 and they both start within 3 pulls after not being used for 8 months
ALL brands have failures! Just because you had one fail, doesn’t mean that brand is garbage. Some of the “worst” engines have outlasted some of the “best” engines. You have to compare apples to apples.
Have a Yamaha 4 stroke, yes very reliable, and expensive, every year changing the oil, filters water pump, and heavy. Had my Evinrude G2, weighed 130 pounds lighter, much faster, better hole shot, less expensive with same yearly Maintenance, on same boat, and ethanol free gas. If the G2 were available, still would have it. Feel, like I have a second best motor, now.
Aaron, love the videos. Do you know if Rydlyme expires or goes bad just sitting around? I have some I purchased new that is still factory sealed, but has been on the shelf for several years. It seems the color of it has changed slightly. I was just wondering if I could still use it or if I should just dispose of it properly? Thanks for sharing your marine engine and boating knowledge with all of us.
Yeah depends a lot on how much you get to run your boat, some people during the summer rack up hundreds of hours on their engines and burn thousands in fuel with only twins :/ depends also how far you gotta go to, some people have to go 60+ miles offshore just to get to the fishing
@@TheBoatersPodcast kind of a shame that the youtube Algorithm does seem to prefer faces in the thumbnail like this. Great video's and advice though :D been watching your stuff for a long time.

Running a 1994 Johnson 140 hp on my Outrage. Great engine for me, reliable and tough.

2007 merc 50
2021 merc 115
Both awesome motors with no issues.
Yamaha. Suzuki. Those two would be my only options.
I have an f150 Yamaha. The 150hp class of motors seems to be very reliable. Yamaha, Honda, Merc and Suzuki all make strong 150s.

Never again Mercury. Yamahas have never failed me. I have a Yamaha 250 SHO currently and it has been problem free the five years I have owned it.

Just traded my 70 Yamaha, didnt idle worth a shit in gear.
My old ass yamaha is still going. Yamaha is definition of reliability in my opinion.
They should rebrand from Yamaha to Reliable lol
Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki... in that order...
$5000 on maintenance a year? maybe if you have quads
Depends on how many hours you run in a year.

@@TheBoatersPodcast very true! ive only had single outboard on my boats, and run about 200 hours a year
They're all junk.
Get the motor that has the best parts and service available.
Maybe this is just me but the way your face looks in thumbnails these days makes me not want to click on the video anymore
Great show…advice…etc.
Yeah you do need to get a better pic!!!
Yeah, it's partially AI and I hate putting my face on the thumbnails anyway lol we'll figure something else better out :/

If you want to get there first you buy a merc, if you want to get home you buy a yamaha. NEVER buy a used E-tec
Hahahahahahaa lol :)
Direct Fuel Injection engines owners should circle their wagons and file a class action lawsuit .....they were all pieces of junk.
