Maybe it's the fact it's 3 AM on New Year's Day but as an artist pursuing a Bachelors in Studio Art at University, I really needed this. While I'm aware I'll never personally know you, Nick Nocturne, this made me feel incredibly understood and seen. I'm not an unfiction creator, but with this new year we're only about 2 weeks away from the 6th anniversary of my fantasy webcomic. I like to think I don't need reassurance, and maybe I don't, I am incredibly proud of how far I've come over these 6 years with a handful of friends who enjoy my work and I'm not in a state where I want more anymore. But listening to this video while I was actively drawing the next couple pages of my comic hit hard. It's... surreal, to be a creator sometimes. To recognize I can just do this kind of thing however and whenever I want. I can just make something new by sitting down with an idea. And it's not always good, it's not always perfect, it just is what it is. Hell I even made my own video essay this year, and it's scuffed as hell, but it's mine and I put my all into it. That's enough. I really appreciate that I can come here to your channel and see those same values given a greater reach. Maybe it's the fact it's 3 AM on New Year's Day but as an artist pursuing a Bachelors in Studio Art at University, I really needed this. While I'm aware I'll never personally know you, Nick Nocturne, this made me feel incredibly understood and seen. If I were to describe it in a metaphor, it was as if I were a child being comforted and reassured by a parent. There was a sense of safety and care in your voice while addressing those of us who create.

I didn't know how much I needed to hear those words of kindness. My blog for my short stories hit just under 2100 over the last two years, which is both incredible and amazing, but more than that, I finally feel like I am a more complete person by being able to share my work, even if it is just with a (relative) handful. I'm not an unfiction creator, but with this new year we're only about 2 weeks away from the 6th anniversary of my fantasy webcomic. I like to think I don't need reassurance, and maybe I don't, I am incredibly proud of how far I've come over these 6 years with a handful of friends who enjoy my work and I'm not in a state where I want more anymore. But listening to this video while I was actively drawing the next couple pages of my comic hit hard. It's... surreal, to be a creator sometimes. To recognize I can just do this kind of thing however and whenever I want. I can just make something new by sitting down with an idea. And it's not always good, it's not always perfect, it just is what it is. Hell I even made my own video essay this year, and it's scuffed as hell, but it's mine and I put my all into it. That's enough. I really appreciate that I can come here to your channel and see those same values given a greater reach. Thank you for making sure to remind everyone their projects have value, no matter what it is, because they created something. Thanks for showing me other creators like me who inspire me. I don't know if I can convey the emotions I'm feeling, they're a little too large for words. You're doing something very special, by encouraging others to create. I hope you know that.
