an alternate view on unemployed brendon’s meaning would be how jobs in creativity are praised in a fanciful nature (ie. the mention of being a painter in the job song) but is not taken seriously when taken into practice (brendon’s aspirations as a novelist) theres a whole attitude to teenagers and children that “you can be anything!” but as soon as you would want to have an alternative job, the restrictive walls come up

I always interpreted the Friendship episode to be more about toxic positivity and bullying (even though the episode is called “Friendship”). The “Ok Stop” bits where the w̶o̶r̶m̶ eagle pauses and rewinds the scenes reminds me a lot of those anti-bullying programs we’d be shown in middle school. And the way that the w̶o̶r̶m̶ eagle is butting himself into everyone else’s space is like a toxic positive person who would rather not take sides in a bullying case. It simply results in everyone getting hurt.

Along with how the video used the WebMD like website as symbolism for internet misinformation, I think it more was about how being mentally ill (or ill in general) means very little to most people around you without an official diagnosis (especially with the “my friend has a worm in his brain. Official diagnosis? Worm in his brain” joke.)

I will say with the concept of funerals my great aunt passed away a few years back during COVID and the entire funeral was just her church talking about how devoted she was to God and not anything about her herself. Only her sister got the chance to speak for two minutes. The rest of the 2 hour funeral was the church. This happened with my great grandma too and the same church.

The conversation around Death is so true. It is so infuriating when people pretend to care about someone who died. I had a friend who took his own life in high school and so many people took advantage of it. The senior English class was reading a book where a girl dies and it’s implied it was suicide, when the teacher offered those effected to sign their names on a sheet to get the reading waved multiple people who didn’t know/talk to my friend signed it. I don’t even know if any of my friends in that class took up that offer. But we all were seeing people who were acting effected by it while the rest of us were constantly having mental break downs in class. It’s cruel to those actually hurt by the loss to pretend to act better than you are

    • @theearthlaughs4251
      @theearthlaughs4251 Рік тому

I don’t understand, maybe they signed it out of respect. When someone dies there is no competition over who is the most sad. Obviously people who know and spend time with someone are much more hurt and are experiencing more grief but that doesn’t mean that someone else can’t be hit unusually hard by someone’s death..there is a nasty personality hiding behind the nice personality. Someone who likes to complain and create problems and act like the problem is everyone and everything but never is because they are fearful and lack confidence and push people away which only creates an issue instead of any kind of connection. What to look at? The problem is the creator likes to fuck with people’s minds because he is crazy and I don’t know why I like it so much because when someone is purposely doing something it is annoying after a while..he’s attaching his fangs to my veins and I’m getting really angry. It’s not me being moody and crazy..it’s because of the disrespect and being treated like nobody and spoken about like a child who is in the room. Just a voice actor? With several voices and everywhere..you want me to feel crazy..Sounds to me like nobody communicates properly or at all..I wonder who causes the lack of communication..goes to so much trouble and takes the extra long way around everything. Always has to have their way ..better off alone I think I’ll watch that

the friendship episode is one of my favorites personally. It's the only time all the characters at once fight back against the teacher and I think its notable that they really only questioned their friendship once warren started saying it was bad and were very defensive of them not being bad friends (I've also seen some theories that the bleeps were also done by Warren like how he kept pausing time and superimposing his mouth over their conversation which is a theory i like). I think its one of those "hey we can jokingly call each other names but if you try it we'll kill you" And I do think the credits audio of them all beating each other up is part of that too. That does not discredit them being friends imo.

thinking about the briefcase guy in context of the UK where the creators are from, we have this thing called the job centre which is supposed to be how people recieve unemployment benefits and to support people getting into work. the job centre is well known for being pretty useless though, they will restrict benefits for stupid reasons and you have to prove you're looking for a job to recieve help. my mum was on jobseekers allowance for a while, and when she found a job that she had to have 3 weeks unpaid training for, they cut her off because she wasn't actively looking for a job anymore. the job centre will absolutely push you into a seeking employment but don't actually give you support with anything. there's a film called I, Daniel Blake about the futility of it

I personally experienced the person not knowing the person who passed with a cat instead of a human. Checkers was an 11 year old calico, in her last days, years of bad teeth my mom ignored caught up to her and I was desperately feeding her watered down pate cat food through a food needle. My mother took her to the vet and instead of paying for the surgery, she put her down without me. Later when her ashes etc. Came in, she wanted to throw them away and I kept them, I've held onto them. Everyday I'd hug her box. And years later, I'd comment she was my cat, and almost like a mother to me. This was commented around my friend. My mom hated this and made sure to comment it was her cat too despite never caring for the cat, even when they were alive. I immediately shut down and screamed at her and to this day, I do not regret it. She had no right downplaying my grief or suddenly have loved the cat just because other people were there. To this day, me and my friend hold a grudge over the whole situation because it was her fault Checkers suffered the way she did and died alone.

the death episode resonates deeply within me, i lost my father very suddenly and i acted just like red guy, i didnt react, i was cold and unfeeling towards all people around me, i was angry and confused and i flet out refused to believe he was gone even when we put his ashes into the wall a full year later. the day before the funeral my house was full of people who "felt really bad for me and who miss him so much" even people who i never met before, even people who i knowmy dad disliked. then staying up at night thinking about the afterlife, is he just gone or is he really out there still doing things he enjoys. Death is hands down the best ive depiction of the grieving progress i have ever seen.
also i dont know if someone mentioned it already but incontinence in children and bedwetting in both adults and children are common stress responses that stem from a kind of abuse (usually sexual) since the twins defiantly dont have the best homelife it could be a nod to that!

The reactions to the Friendship episode & people being disappointed that a deliberately unlikable character was unlikable because they aren't looking at thematically WHY Warren is unlikable kinda illustrates the dangers in thinking that is HAS to have some great overarching narrative. I kinda like the Friendship episode and think it gets a bit underrated, even if it isn't my favorite. Each episode does have a satirical layer as well that can be taken pretty close to face value, for example the 'Jobs' episode certainly does make fun of some familiar work "tropes". But, I wouldn't underestimate the overarching "lore" puzzle aspect - the allegorical aspect that runs across all the episodes: I think there's something potent, clever, and darkly humorous going on in there on a whole different level which gets echoed and repeated in all the TV episodes, hinting that there's more than just surface gags at play with those "teachers" and the puppets and their relationship with each other: it looks quite a bit different when you take some of the weird "throw-away" lines that various characters make more seriously, such as the one where the Briefcase in 'Jobs' claims that doing your 'job' can make you feel like an 'ANGEL', or the answers the Table Lamp gives Yellow Guy in 'Death' when Yellow Guy wonders what happens when we die....
Which might put our poor, bitter, shallow, lonely, hypocritical, and annoying self-help "guru" Warren the WormEAGLE! into a whole different light, on a subsequent viewings!
And that 'Friends' episode already takes on and entirely different, darkly humorous meaning at the more direct, satirical level when you realize it's mainly about what went wrong with the aborted "Wakey Wakey" pilot.... "We've all got a worm in our brain..." indeed!

I love seeing the whole series as a built up to some major lore drop on us, and then at the end everything is thrown away, but not in terms of “get fooled, we will never reveal it to you!” but instead, as a “there is no plot, be creative” which is basically the whole reason dhmis existis to begin with. this show is amazing and I love seeing everyone’s theories, analysis, and just reaction of it, because it is a beautiful art that I fully believe was meant to be like a coloring book, they give you the content, you just “color” however you want it

Duck gets replaced an awful lot but he always gets replaced with an identical Duck. If you follow the theory about the symbols on the cover of Yellow Guy's book, the symbol under Ducks "name" looks like a mirrored 2. The number 2 is announced as "One little duck" in bingo calling. When Leslie opens her drawer for another Duck doll, the only dolls in the drawer are Ducks. Duck is also the character that often see's the problem in whats going on in the episode or generally doesn't want to be a part of it.
Duck is the persona of one of the actors or animators on the show. A relatively important job on the "show" but, not one where you are given a whole lot of creative control. As such, he often spots issues & despite his protestations, very little is ever done. More often than not, he is totally ignored. Duck gets replaced in the same manner a vocal artist or cartoonist would - with someone who can do exactly the same thing as the last person. Same voice/animation style so there is no defined change to either the show or the character. Yellow Guy also describes him as "whiney" which might be an indicator that the vocal artists/animators often have criticisms of the show. Duck (artist) might well be exchanged for another Duck every episode but it is always essentially the exact same Duck (voice/animation style).
So, Red Guy is the reason the show exists (concept), Yellow Guy is the reason it hasn't ended yet (personal connection), Duck is the reason nothing changes (refusing to acknowledge constructive criticism)

30:56 not saying this is how it should be interpreted but I always got a very weird vibe from the family in this episode especially considering the boy wets himself and then in the bunk bed scene they wet themselves again, and consistently wetting oneself or having little to no bladder control can be a sign of sexual abuse in children. While this can be an indicator of sexual abuse it may also just have been for shits and giggles/not meant to be taken seriously. I wet the bed until I was about 10 and I was never abused by my parents, and that can be the case in plenty of kids. Point being; take what I’ve said with a grain of salt. I think it could just be an interesting bit for a theory considering how weirdly the family treats each other.
TLDR: potential CSA themes, I could also just be completely wrong though
Edit: with the mother not in the picture, it’s possible that perhaps she was the one to abuse the children, and the father was the one to take custody, which is why they struggle to consider themselves a true family, and that they’re looking for someone new to take the role of the mother. Plus, “every family should have secrets?”? Yeah, sounds like abuse to me.

I've seen a lot of people use that episode of proof that Red doesn't care for the other two, but grief is different for everyone. I'm saying this cuz I see a lot of myself in his reaction. Recently my family went through the death of a family member and the death of a beloved pet on the same day. It's difficult to really understand everything I feel, or feel anything about it at all. It makes me come off as uncaring sometimes, but that doesn't mean I don't care. I think thats probably why I related more to Red in that episode, even after molding Edward Stains the Forever Boy INTO a new duck. I think maybe that's meant to be his own way of grieving
Last bit, t I wanted to say I'm not sure if you're right about the last episode. I think you got the concept right , but I dont think that the creators are giving us the middle finger. I could be wrong obviously! But it felt more like teasing! A friendly jab at all of us about our theories and such, a little tease about how we almost had the 'answers'. They could be annoyed about us and how we veiw the series, but im just not convinced. After all, I think they want us to be creative! And theorizing and putting things together is being creative with the little details they put in! So, I don't think it was meant to be mean, just a bit of light ribbing kshsj.
I did really enjoy the video! Looking forward to seeing more ! Sorry if I accidentally left in typos im. Dyslexic lol

The balls the original creators have are just incredible. They basically made three different series. They just happen to have the three different core characters starring in the three different series.

Another part of the reason why the Clayhill plot was abandoned was due to the company it was created with, and therefore the copyright. The original Wakey Wakey trailer, and thus Clayhill, was produced by Becky, Joe and Blink Industries, which are still working on the current released show, however it was also created by Conaco and Super Deluxe, which are under Turner, and as of April 2022, all their assets were owned by Warner Bros Discovery. This meant that in order for the show to be released, they would now have to go through Warner Bros, who is probably more likely to want to tone down the political statements being made in the show. I believe this was the 'unexpected detour' that is mentioned in interviews, as whilst they don't actively want to say they scrapped their show with Warner Bros, they also did use it as a way to be more vocal about the issues we're facing, taking a more broad aspect to things such as death and family, instead of a show specifically about surveillance and power dynamics. A channel on youtube has spoken about how they've had videos copyright claimed and taken down by Warner Bros for showing the original pilot, so it would make sense that Clayhill is now an entity owned by Warner Bros and can't be used, or characters such as the key, who seemed to be a key (pun intended) character in the plot, cannot be used due to the copyright law of not being owned by Becky, Joe or Blink Industries anymore.

My sister wanted to be a musical artist, maybe an actress, singer, dancer etc.
    She has passion for music.
But of course our parents didn't support that idea cause "making music is a risky job" basically they compared it to crypto. Their other argument was that the musical schools were either too far away from home or too expensive.
Needless to say, she ended up being a retail worker.
I feared parents or everyone would laugh at my dream too, plus i was aware i wasn't actively trying to achieve that dream and don't really have the competence to do it so it's not a suprise i'm far from achieving it.
I relate to Red Guy not wanting to do anything. Or Yellow Guy playing along, mindlessly following orders and also Duck not fitting within the workplace cause of his ego and ambitions.
In school i grew up being like Yellow, which i would summarise as just doing orders and never doing something i'm not told to do.
Then when i was asked "hey, you're so close to graduate, what are you planning to do next?" I didn't knew what to say. I'd go "yeah i haven't figured it out yet hahah"
And i kept procrastinating instead of searching for what career i wanted to study for, i really had no idea where to even start at. Then i went to a vocational school and chose one of the first options thrown at me which i quite regret. "Fitter of... something something, construction, something something, finishing works" it's a long name of a job that i don't even wanna learn. So i'm a kind of a construction worker and we wear the same exact kind of safety vests and helmets.
I tried to "fit in" and do what i was told but i had no idea what was going on and would usually just do the dirty work of cleaning the place instead of doing my job, this naturally resulted in me not learning a single thing. It was all a combination of the workers not caring or knowing how to teach the job to us newbies and most importantly me not really caring about the job. At some point i just gave up on trying to "learn" anything at all and decided to spend those three years here, then finally leave this prison". (I'm currently in the third year btw...)
But... What would happen after? Well, i'm still alive so the story isn't over. I have some plans ig. There's still a grain of hope for me or for you.
This is was way too long and the point of this comment was me ranting about workplace and praising how accurate the Jobs Episode is, but now i just want to say i relate, made a mistake and just want to warn whoever would read this to learn from this and don't do the same mistake.
"Living in the present" is a neat philosophy but not necessarly when you're at such age where your choices will make a huge impact on your future.
Don't rely that much on the help from schools cause unless you'll try real hard, they rarely help.
Keep your primary goals fairly low, so these goals are realistic, and push on to achieve them even if it means you'll have to go out of your comfort zone. And make your plans quickly too cause as Tony the clock said "eventually everyone runs out of time".

I am depressed and loved the original series; talking about "Jobs" I am currently unemployed and it causes me so much stress money wise and makes my depression worse thinking about how I feel worthless and useless without a job. I have an Aunt and Uncle that aren’t blood family, my Uncle died and a funeral was held, many people that my parents and I didn’t recognise appeared. It pissed me off so fucking much when some approached my Aunt and tried to get on her good side by buttering her up to get shit out of her, get money, the few precious items she had, my parents and I immediately took her from the funeral before anyone could try anything further
I feel an absolute sense of disgust towards those people, like, my Aunt’s husband just fucking died, I may not be her blood family but she’s the only family beside my parents that I have and you’re coming in here, acting like you care in order to abuse of this older women

i suppose it is because is something alot of people deal with but find it really hard to identify or to even get out of, i've dealt wilth people like warren. while in this episode warren's unlikeness is a pretty obvious thing to prove a point, in real life it usually takes time and effort to make it stop. in this episode Warren literally can't recognizes he is the problem to fix so he can actually have friends who would actually like to go on a lunch instead of being forcedd so that he shuts up
toxic friendships are hard to break since most of them start as a nice thing and by the time you realize the conections is pretty much stablished. most of times they leave insecurities or scars due to the closeness that used to be there

Great interpretation of DHMIS! I’ve been thinking along the same lines as well. I see the series as having multiple interpretations depending on how you take certain scenarios and scenes. I enjoy the literal, lore centered, and symbolic versions. The literal is just, “OoOoOoOoOo horror show with some comedy.” It’s good to just watch the show and laugh when the jokes come up. The lord centered is about Leslie and the idea that Yellow Guy is her dead son that she has recreated. Generally this thinking is pretty well demonstrated by MatPat/Film Theory. Still a good interpretation. Then the symbolism which is the majority of your video. I LOVE seeing people being able to relate to the situations and translate it to real life. Like how jobs aren’t the idealized version we’re told as kids, grieving is complex and different for everyone, found families are just as valid and blood relatives don’t automatically make for a healthy family, etc. I think all of these interpretations are amazing with their own flaws and evidence, but I like all of them just the same.

14:06 I don't think Duck was killed, I think he was quite literally swallowed by the hound (company) and regurgitated as a 'proper' worker. he got chewed up until he gave up and morphed into what they want him to be. I understand why the theory of replacement Duck is so popular, it makes a lot of sense in the narrative, but I feel like this specific moment is not it.
it's the saliva that Duck is covered in that does it for me.
30:55 a sudden onset of bedwetting in a child that is old enough to control their bladder and has shown the ability to do so (which they look old enough for) is a possible indicator of child abuse
episode 4 is weirdly underrated. I think it might be my second favourite of the season. there is a very interesting theory about the censored part of what the Red Guy said - that it actually wasn't so bad but the worm in Yellow Guy's ear told him that it is that bad, and I really like that approach because it allows me to dunk on Warren a little bit more. I also really like how they touched on dissociating/daydreaming, and how it is a place of peace and joy and - as Yellow Guy gets deeper - simplistic relief, but even that can be desecrated. this episode is relatable to me on many, many levels
also Red Guy screaming made me choke on my drink the first time I saw it

I don't personally think the Care Hound incident should be counted as one of Duck's deaths. I think that the Care Hound just threw up Duck after a while, essentially scaring Duck into working. On an allegorical level, it could be interpreted as employeers threatening to fire their employees instead of encouraging them with a monetary reward.
