Yeah well, they mean "old" as in hockey player "old". Not old as a person. Middle age is still as said, the middle age. Not the golden age of 60+@@alexbenhard
For real. I was a freshman in high school when Ovechkin and Crosby were in their 2nd and 1st years (essentially 1st for both). They both felt far older than me at the time, but no, they are only a few years older than me. If I was in the nhl I’d be past my prime, that’s rough.

@@Surl9596 I'm taking into account that he's still early in his career and trying to project what he's going to accomplish in the rest of it. A common misconception too about the games Leo missed early on wasn’t about “load management” but rather it allowed for him to get some extra time in the weight room whenever he was be on the ice and bulking up to become a horse in the second half as Verbeek said. Not like he was only sitting around during his off days. I think it was smart considering how much hockey he played in his draft year, he’s still not even close to growing into his body which is scary considering how solid is frame already is.
ok i know that MacKinnon and Draisaitl are also 28, but honorable mention to Igor Shesterkin, he is on another level as a goaltender and the rangers would not have gotten as far as the did in the playoffs without him
No disrespect to Ovis career but I'll take a 200 foot center who scored more points this year and logs bigger minutes. At 37 you picked a guy who was better now, Kopitar is the best 38 year old in the league.
Ovi is definetely best 38 years old 2nd most goals by that age and doing 30+ goals at that age is very impressive and even crazier is he had very bad start 8 goals in first 43 games and 23 goals in last 36 games pace for 50. It's pretry clear he was hurt and at that age you expect good start and slower second half... Well he did run out of gas in playoffs playing 80 games at his age was bit too much especially when he had to carry caps there.
It’s hard not to call makar a generational player. If u glazed thru stats only u would think makar was a forward with those stat totals. And an elite forward at that. Unless he is hurt for a long time makar is 100% a hall of famer.
I am surprised that you didn't mention Brady Tkachuk-81 Games with 37 Goals 37 Assist with 74 points this season, next season he might get over one hundred points if he keeps playing like this, he also an adagender as well, drafted in 2018
I think for 26 you could’ve done an honourable mention for Mathew Tkachuk. Especially if you count playoff success. Back to back finals plus he’s most likely getting a cup this year.
I respect you do your best to not be a homer. Lucas raymond had the most points of anyone 22 or younger ( and still has another level to hit imo ) just saying.
It took everything in my soul not to pick him haha. Raymond probably had the better year, but I think Stutzle is still the better player with higher upside.
One thing I always wondered is when someone talks about a player 'in their prime', do they mean their age or their playing ability? I wonder when Gretzky hit his prime in age AND ability. Yeah, agreed actually. Amazing, even agree on the one single "honourable mention" -- Leon Draisaitl. That's a large number of discreet opinions to agree.
The Draisaitl disrespect is strange. McK is great, but he always had the better team and linemates around him. LD barely plays with McD on 5v5, kills PK and still carries. That makes him the way more valuable player...
