Excellent as usual. I do have a question: occasionally I place a wrap of thread under the tail to lift or splay the fibers. Is there a reason you did that here but not on the other flies you’ve tied?
Hi Allan, happy new year! What you say is right, i use a wrap under the tails when i want to open them. In other videos i don't do that because the Catskill Style Flies mustn't to be splayed!
Down By The River - Fly Tying Videos Happy New Year to you to. Been tying Catskill style dries forever. Your proportions are much more in line with the way they were tied then most of the current tiers. I was editor of the Catskill Fly Tyler’s Guild newsletter years ago. Tied at Guild tables at several shows and have seen ‘old timers’ (I have to now include myself in that category) look with disgust at many of the Catskill Style flies tied today. Anyway, you tie a beautiful and proportionately correct fly and I appreciate your posts. Thanks.
This brought me great peace this morning, love to watch your deliberate and caring approach. Beautiful work.

Looks like a competition tie. I learned tapering technique with your two phase cut of the slip waste. I also enjoyed the music.
Thank you my friend! I'm glad that you learned from my videos! This is a good help to continuing making videos!
