It is not! Unless you have someone trustworthy within the department, who you've known for a while and who you could turn to for an advice. Otherwise, HR might not be much of a help when it comes to a complaint.
While I was passing by my bosses office while my co-worker was with her. I heard my boss say, "Thank you for telling me what I don't hear, while I'm busy.". Hearing that made me feel that gossip is praised as long as you tell the boss.
This is why the service industry is so toxic! I have reported along with others about our boss. I had an open and shut case with proof by text, lots of screenshots of the hostile work environment but I was fired in the end. HR seemed very confused and surprised. She went from extremely sweet to not willing to speak to me. The service industry has to put up with the abuse, sexual harassment, bullied, screamed at, you name it because NO ONE IS HELD ACCOUNTABLE! So much suicides are happening because we have to just endure the behavior. Everyone else ultimately left after me as well, and the bad management is still there.
This is the same indusrty that claims dishwasher are the most important person in resturants. Expect since they do not requrie any real skills or long training they're the least paid person in the restraunts.

Mmm actually they really do nothing, because they don't have any balls to go against the companies and actually too scared to protect your rights. The only useful thing they can do is serve as mediators in negotiations. The only ones who can help are the labour and lawyers.
When you approach HR, ensure that you follow the employer complaints procedure. The HR is there to ensure the smooth running of the company, so their interest will be in the best interests of the company. Always document everything formally with HR, keep copies, and be ready for formal questioning of your complaints. Formally document everything for yourself. Also, be prepared to leave if the matter is not resolved, if necessary. HR is not your friend, so don't confuse their friendliness and assume anything.
I'll save you some time...HR protects the interest of the employer while pretending to be on the side of employees. The lowest of the low become HR professionals.
Also, don’t tell HR that you have any mental issues because of the stigma. Even if the disabilities act covers you. The only time I used this is when I was threatened to be fired. Because it didn’t matter anymore. Nobody ever wanted to help with my disability and couldn’t make it easier for me. I never enjoyed working and always was in panic mode. Learning has always been hard for me and it takes me twice as long to do anything.
Go get a doctor's order for your disorder. Then you can go to social security. From there the money you get you can budget and not work full-time and work part time which more time at home, family, friends or nature may make you feel better on a day to day
Marat: have you noticed the change in title in this department? it used to be called "employmee officer" or similar title. now its Human Resources. It's in the title, humans are now a resource like iron at a steel mill or lumber at a timber mill. much in the same way "customer support" is now "customer contact". it implies the customer used to get support. now they can just make contact (no support implied)
Hi Obliv! You know the title change doesn't stop there. In fact because Human Resources started sounding slightly "off" recently they started coming up with some titles like "Happiness Officer", "Chief Heart Officer" and other quite ridiculous names. At the end of the day it's a job where you deal with human beings and the related elements. So it's in company's best interest to "market" this position in an attractive way.

i feel lucky that the HR person and people working for my HR are all really lovely people and they seem to like me. I do have to be careful though because I don't want to accidentally be too friendly when they are people i have a professional relationship with and I have to also make sure im doing good. and thank you for these advice sir, I will definitely be thinking about them. HR departments need to change big time and given more power to protect employees as there are narcissist and sociopathic bosses/supervisors out there and it’s aweful especially in the Australian public service or government work!
HR can use anything you say against you, so if you stated something and it was proven false or unsubstantiated, your complaint will paint a target on your back. So if you complain, you need to make sure there is evidence and alibis to back it up. If they prove what you said is false, you just defamed someone and are now a liability. They think in terms of liability, so to get assistance you have to think like HR. Always make it about the company, not about you. You are helping HR mitigate liability. If you present yourself in a way that makes yourself a potential liability, they will start targeting you. Their job is to mitigate liability.

He Threatened that If I "Refused" another Bus I was issued, to Drive, ......or to Write Up Another Work Order on another Bus, that I would be Asked to Leave, and I would be Written Up. ("So I immediately Handed Him MY Pen") As a School Bus Driver, it is My Responsibilities to Do a Pre-Trip, & Post Trip for the School Bus I am going to Drive and Transport Students In. and also to document the Condition of the Bus, and if the Items on my Pre-Trip paperwork Does Not Meet DOT Safety Standards, I as a CDL License Holder, I can Refuse to Drive it! Well I am in the 1st Step of this "Grievance Process"......Yesterday The Informal Meeting was Held, I am Not Satisfied with the Word Salad I received from my Immediate Supervisor......this feels like a Joke, and Nothing will come of Any of My efforts to Bring to Light the issues I have with the Lack of a Comprehensive Maintenance Program to Get any of these Buses to Transport the Students to School in. I have Been issued, since the beginning of this School year, 7 different Buses. Ok I'm 26 hr and my job couch and mangers and other employees are playing favorites and paying me the less they harass me they care more about the company cares more about solid rich kids that went to collage I go to this person and others to reach out because I'm targeted and not paid enough nohr and job getting compnys are not there for real people

HR is not your friend - If you have non-positive remarks or even concerns
It is not! Unless you have someone trustworthy within the department, who you've known for a while and who you could turn to for an advice. Otherwise, HR might not be much of a help when it comes to a complaint.

I think your case has to do with learning disabilities, if you can get a diagnosis go get it.
