    In my experience, bringing a concern to HR usually gets turned back against the employee with the concern. And no retaliation policies are no more than lip service.

    This is why the service industry is so toxic! I have reported along with others about our boss. I had an open and shut case with proof by text, lots of screenshots of the hostile work environment but I was fired in the end. HR seemed very confused and surprised. She went from extremely sweet to not willing to speak to me. The service industry has to put up with the abuse, sexual harassment, bullied, screamed at, you name it because NO ONE IS HELD ACCOUNTABLE! So much suicides are happening because we have to just endure the behavior. Everyone else ultimately left after me as well, and the bad management is still there.

    When you approach HR, ensure that you follow the employer complaints procedure. The HR is there to ensure the smooth running of the company, so their interest will be in the best interests of the company. Always document everything formally with HR, keep copies, and be ready for formal questioning of your complaints. Formally document everything for yourself. Also, be prepared to leave if the matter is not resolved, if necessary. HR is not your friend, so don't confuse their friendliness and assume anything.

    Marat: have you noticed the change in title in this department? it used to be called "employmee officer" or similar title. now its Human Resources.
    It's in the title, humans are now a resource like iron at a steel mill or lumber at a timber mill.
    much in the same way "customer support" is now "customer contact". it implies the customer used to get support. now they can just make contact (no support implied)

    • @myemmotion
      @myemmotion  3 роки тому +3

      Hi Obliv! You know the title change doesn't stop there. In fact because Human Resources started sounding slightly "off" recently they started coming up with some titles like "Happiness Officer", "Chief Heart Officer" and other quite ridiculous names.
      At the end of the day it's a job where you deal with human beings and the related elements. So it's in company's best interest to "market" this position in an attractive way.

    HR can use anything you say against you, so if you stated something and it was proven false or unsubstantiated, your complaint will paint a target on your back. So if you complain, you need to make sure there is evidence and alibis to back it up. If they prove what you said is false, you just defamed someone and are now a liability. They think in terms of liability, so to get assistance you have to think like HR. Always make it about the company, not about you. You are helping HR mitigate liability. If you present yourself in a way that makes yourself a potential liability, they will start targeting you. Their job is to mitigate liability.
