I love it! During the opening scene in the cinema, when the music came on , I just gave out a loud, "Woo Hoo!" And started clapping. My friend seated next to me, had to tell me to relax. Lol! It was somewhat emotional for me since I first watched Top Gun as a 15 year old boy back in the day.
I think you need someone to review your scripts. For example, at 3:50 you say "attesting to one of the most skilled actors" when the correct usage would have been, "a testament to one of the most skilled actors." The rest of your video is similarly littered with such occasional usage errors.

I had tears in my eyes on multiple times in this movie. It's simply the best film I've ever seen. We have been craving this for years - it's all the more inspiring in the current climate.
Not kidding. We watched it in a traditionally small cinema in our town. Then we drove (in total) 3 hours to get to an IMAX the next weekend. (Hint: Holy sh...) When we finally convinced our father to go see it, we also would have driven 3 hours to the IMAX again, but the whole cinema was booked for Jurassic whatever. So we went to the regular cinema again. My father is not a particular fan of Tom Cruise (he actually didn't want to watch the film BECAUSE he is in it) and also wasn't a hard core fan of the first film. After the film was finished, he thanked us for convincing him. He genuinely enjoyed it (he usually never watches a film, even less in cinema, maybe 2x every 10 years) and when we peeked, he had some tears in his eyes. So, if this movie gets a recommendation coming from my dad, a guy who hates entertainment industry, disdains Tom Cruise and going to cinema in general, it should be taken seriously. Go. Watch. This. Film. If you can get Dolby Atmos or IMAX, pull the trigger. And let us show with our wallets that we want good movies, not sub par CGI trash fests.
I haven't been to the cinema in years, as a filmmaker so many recent movies have been so uninspiring and missed the mark for me that I didn't feel the need to bother. Even just the opening sequence was enough to induce tingles and tears in the edges of my eyes. This entire movie was flawlessly executed, from the incredible sound design, to the grade, the homages to the original and of course the jet and action sequences. The original Top Gun is obviously a classic but it feels like a pamphlet in comparison to this film. The limitations of 1980's cinema could not do the story the justice it deserved and while it took 36 years, the evolution of cinema could not have had a more worthy candidate of a reboot than Top Gun.
Well said! I wanted to start making video essays for a while now and once I say the film it really inspired me to write this review. I wasn't expecting Top Gun Maverick to be such a big game changer but as you say, it is a worthy candidate. Thanks!
I went to see it in IMAX. Easily one of the best cinema experiences I’ve ever had. We need less cut and paste Marvel cartoons and more old school blockbuster filmmaking like this
Well told. This is exactly what I have told people is that this was a movie that had genuine old school feel with the Bruckheimer accent and the Tom Cruise Feel.
My wife and I saw it on the opening weekend. It was truly a great throw-back to the great blockbusters of the past. However, it took everything up a notch without overdoing it with CGI special effects. It was like taking a ride in a retro-mod '63 Corvette with all the best new technology combined with old school muscle-car style and power.
You could tell a lot of love went into making this remarkable film. Love of Top Gun. Love of storytelling. Love of filmmaking. Love of aviation. I am thrilled that people of all ages and backgrounds are giving this film back the love that it was made from.

No way this'll win any Oscars. It's not about race, gender, sexual orientation or anything else Hollywood pretends to care about. This is the type of movie Hollywood hates because it doesn't teach Americans to feel ashamed of themselves and their country.
love how they introduced Penny Benjamin and it feels so organic since shes a Legacy character only referenced in the original and Jennifer Connoly does a great job bringing her to life. when Top Gun 1986 released she was around 17 and Tom Cruise was roughly 24/25. its explained that Maverick used his Jet to take Penny on a joyride..platonically of course, Maverick was too old for her at the time but she took a liking to him anyway
I liked how the movie ending was Pete and Penny going on another joyride in Mav's P-51 Mustang. Was super cool that was actually Tom's Mustang IRL. Guy is a badass!
Just because that was her age in real life doesn't mean that was her age in the movie. She could've been 18-21 more likely since they basically seeing each other on and off.

Top Gun: Maverick was the first movie I'd seen in the theater in over 4 years and it didn't disappoint, unlike the last movie I saw in theaters. It was solid and did everything right in an age full of bad CGI and weak stories with immature characters.

I went with my parents on the fourth weekend. Normally if I see a movie that late I expect to see only a couple other people in the theater. Our theater was packed.
The scene with Ice and Mac was beautiful. They absolutely knocked this film out of the park. Seeing it in 4DX is going to ruin other movies for me though since it won’t be the same experience or match it.
Both Top Guns kick ass EQUALLY & yes, its both necessary desirable & highly/strongly recommended to have first watched the original Top Gun at least a few times BEFORE going to see latest Top Gun 2/MAVERICK & thus understand & truly enjoy this new kickass film (Top Gun 2) that much More. Period

I sincerely hope this film marks a new beginning for cinema. Sure keep the superhero blockbusters, but this film proves that people wanna see more. They wanna see story, they wanna see a real movie, something inspiring. To the new generation of moviemakers: Don't let us down, please!
The movie was a cinematic masterpiece, it pulls so much adrenaline out of you but still maintains a great story. This is got to be one of the great movies ever made. I think the imax and everything was real not cgi. You feel like a fighter pilot. You got to watch it in theaters not streamed to really feel the rush
I've finally noticed all of my favorite action movies of the past decade have all be practical effects heavy Mission: Impossible - Fallout Mad Max: Fury Road Top Gun: Maverick
@@jdee8407 go and watch your… oh wait there aren’t any movies or series of note made by conservatives that are coming out besides this one film 🤣 I guess… wait for Gina Carano’s film made by The Daily Mail for your next dosage of anti-wokeness lmao
Couldn’t agree more. I came out of this movie thinking it was as close to perfect as I have seen in a long time. The suspense during that last 30 minutes or so of film was amazing. The pacing was great, every shot was beautiful.
The first time that I've gone back on my own to see a film again, and hunting through listings for a good seat in my favourite cinema screen. Still got goosebumps with the intro the third time around.
I just saw it in a theater called Prism X where the projection is expanded to the sidewalls of the theater during the flying scenes. It was awesome! I was camping and then on a work trip so I wasn't able to see it until just today. $17.50 per ticket, though - and that was matinee!
This movie was intentional in regards to giving movie goers a seat in the cockpit and taking them on a heart-stopping ride. The story did well to pay tribute to the first TOPGUN and took liberties that would never “fly” in real world Naval Aviation. However, Mav stayed true to his rebellious ways all the way to making it seem virtuous. Great finish to a beloved character. Definitely, see it on the big screen with bigger sound.
Probably the best sequel EVER! I'm not a frequent theater attendee but my 13 yr old wanted to see this with me! I went with low expectations & was completely blown away! I actually wanna go watch it again! Absolutely fantastic! Wow! Even better than the first one!
Amazing video for someone on 451 subs. I would say a huge plus for the movie is the fight scenes - the planes deserve the Oscar lol. Such a phenomenal film, I've gone to it three times haha
If u saw it one time and enjoyed you must see it again before its taken down from the theaters. You will enjoy it more the second time Because uyou was known what's coming and really see things u missed the 1ST. time. It is a great movie....
I enjoyed Top Gun: Maverick. The original Top Gun came out 5 months before I was born so missed that experience. That being said this movie was a breath of fresh air because it didn't follow the current trend of content that Hollywood is churning out. This was an actual movie with a plot that wasn't a carbon copy of everything else around it.
Nice review. I've seen it twice and would pay to see it again. I can't stop listening to/hearing the soundtrack in my head. It was a masterpiece of film making, and MUST be seen on the big screen. This is truly a rarity where a sequel may well be better than the original.
Saw this in 4DX which had moving chairs, enhanced sound, vibration, air, water, and fog machines going on. It was awesome. Whole movie felt like a ride. You felt like you were flying a Tomcat at the end
This movie will hurt other new movies because many people are very likely to see it for a second and third time as opposed to seeing a new release. That's how good it is. It blows the first Top Gun away, and that first film was a classic in its own right.
Best Movie of 2022 bar none! Needs to be watched in theaters! Forget work, forget stress take the day off grabs some friends and go watch it! Its been a while since I walked out of theater Smiling wanting more. It is not another cash grab, it is not a set up for another movie, no politics just the love of making a great Film!

My daughter and niece (12 & 13) agreed to see this if I took them to the new Jurassic World movie first. *BOTH* said it "blew the dinosaurs out of the water."
1 big difference between this and the original... 36 years later I still hear songs from it on the radio and love them. 2 weeks after seeing this one and I can't tell you the name of the main song by Lady Gaga. It's incredibly forgettable. Best songs in the new one? Old songs. :-)
Well yeah Danger Zone by Kenny Loggins of course but I’d say the best new song from the new movie is “I ain’t worried about it” by one republic ! But I agree the lady Gaga song is laaame
I born in 1976. Watched Tom cruise many many film. I truly enjoy watching his film, just because u can feel Tom really give in all the way himself while acting and making the miracle happen. Same! Felt the same way! Thanks!
The scene with Ice and Mac was beautiful. They absolutely knocked this film out of the park. Seeing it in 4DX is going to ruin other movies for me though since it won’t be the same experience or match it.
Yeah! Loved scene! Thanks!
Period
Yes! Agreed! The background knowledge of the original lays the foundation for a full experience! Thanks!
@@illectricsheep Damn right it sure as hell does. Always has & always will. Going to go see it again, even if by myself, drunk/sober. Then buy it ASAP as soon as it comes out officially on dvd/BluRay loaded (hopefully) with extra features. Amen!!! Cheers!
My Grandson & I watched this at my local IMAX on 5/30. We were SPELLBOUND!!!!!!!!!
Lovely to share a cinema experience like this across generations! Thanks!
@@illectricsheep You Bet!!!!!!
quite the familiar video and thumbnail 🫠

I sincerely hope this film marks a new beginning for cinema. Sure keep the superhero blockbusters, but this film proves that people wanna see more. They wanna see story, they wanna see a real movie, something inspiring. To the new generation of moviemakers: Don't let us down, please!
Agreed! We want to see more real movies! Thanks!

Awesome scene
Yeah! Lovely scene! Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely! Watching it in cinema is a must! Thanks!

I've finally noticed all of my favorite action movies of the past decade have all be practical effects heavy
Mission: Impossible - Fallout
Mad Max: Fury Road
Top Gun: Maverick
Yeah! There is something to be said for practical filmmaking especially when compared against the other stuff out there. Thanks!
Word.
@@CAL1MBO Thanks mate!
The superhero stories needs to slow down. Also no woke crap. We need more movies like Top Gun Maverick.
Yeah! I hope this movie highlights the opportunity and need to give the super hero thing a break! Thanks!

Couldn’t agree more. I came out of this movie thinking it was as close to perfect as I have seen in a long time. The suspense during that last 30 minutes or so of film was amazing. The pacing was great, every shot was beautiful.
Yeah! Great film all around! Thanks!
Was an amazing movie. I love the part when maverick came in hot and proved the mission could be done
Me too! I think is one my favorite scenes. The tone of the film totally shifted! Thanks.
Also flying through the canyon. That's Ace Combat moment there

The first time that I've gone back on my own to see a film again, and hunting through listings for a good seat in my favourite cinema screen. Still got goosebumps with the intro the third time around.
Maverick! The gift that keeps giving! Thanks for sharing!
One of the best movies I've ever seen by far. They deserve the credit.

I think it's great experience to be able to share a movie like Top Gun with a loved one. Thanks!
I watched this with my folks, who generally aren't fans of newer movies, said they were so invested in it, from start to finish
Proof is in the pudding! Thanks for sharing!
I just saw it in a theater called Prism X where the projection is expanded to the sidewalls of the theater during the flying scenes. It was awesome! I was camping and then on a work trip so I wasn't able to see it until just today. $17.50 per ticket, though - and that was matinee!
Sounds good! There are so many types of projection systems. 17.50 USD is steep! Thanks!

If this movie doesn't win the Oscar for Best Sound they should just cancel the category.
You are right. The sound design was next level!
Well said! Thanks a lot!
Probably the best sequel EVER! I'm not a frequent theater attendee but my 13 yr old wanted to see this with me! I went with low expectations & was completely blown away! I actually wanna go watch it again! Absolutely fantastic! Wow! Even better than the first one!
Yeah! Same! I went with low expectations as well and was blown away! Glad you got to share the experience with your son! Thanks!

Agreed.
This is the sort of entertainment I want from my cinema visit.
Great work by all involved.
100% old school blockbuster filmmaking! Thanks!
Makes every man wish we were Tom Cruise ..
Every producer wish they can cast him
If I could match up to 1% of Tom Cruises’s output I would be a massive success!
Amazing video for someone on 451 subs. I would say a huge plus for the movie is the fight scenes - the planes deserve the Oscar lol. Such a phenomenal film, I've gone to it three times haha
Agreed! The fight scenes are top notch! Thanks for encouraging words!
This is such an insightful and wonderful video! I love the pulling in stuff from buster to other things! Very nicely done!
Thanks so much! I am truly happy that you enjoyed my video. Much appreciated!
If u saw it one time and enjoyed you must see it again before its taken down from the theaters. You will enjoy it more the second time

Saw it at IMAX and in a 4D Cinema. Both were excellent experiences. Today I'm going with my nephews to the 4D again, it's expensive but worth it.
The best part is getting to share the experience with family! Thanks!

Well said! Thanks!
Tom Cruise is the shit. I love him. He inspired me to be better. God created Cruise. What a terrific person.
Agreed! I felt so inspired when I left the theater! Thanks!
BAD ASS movie 🍿🎥!!! Going to see it again in cinema again!!!!
Agreed! Perhaps try out a different projection/sound system. Enjoy! Thanks!
Disney (namely Star Wars) needs to take notes. Give the audience what they want, and they’ll love you for it.
Disney could learn a thing or two! Thanks!
I did think movies were dead. CGI messes churned out on a production line where you may as well be watching animation.
This film blew me away.
Blew us away! I thought The Batman was done right though.
This review is absolutely correct. See this at the best, most up to date theater you can finfd.
So far the best for me has been IMAX but I think there are various options! Thanks!
Awesome review! I can’t wait to see it now:)
Thanks! Making this video was fun. Yes, I recommend you go see it in theater!
Nice review. I've seen it twice and would pay to see it again. I can't stop listening to/hearing the soundtrack in my head. It was a masterpiece of film making, and MUST be seen on the big screen.
This is truly a rarity where a sequel may well be better than the original.
Glad you enjoy it! Yeah! That soundtrack is sticky! Thanks!
Dude, hope your channel grows, thanks for this vid.
Hey! I really appreciate that! Thanks a lot!
Saw this in 4DX which had moving chairs, enhanced sound, vibration, air, water, and fog machines going on. It was awesome. Whole movie felt like a ride. You felt like you were flying a Tomcat at the end
Wow! Sounds great! Thanks!
Is that the one with the 3 screens too?
This movie will hurt other new movies because many people are very likely to see it for a second and third time as opposed to seeing a new release. That's how good it is. It blows the first Top Gun away, and that first film was a classic in its own right.
You are right! Top Gun Maverick is taking all the market share and deservedly so. Thanks!
I saw it 5 times lmao
an absolutely amazing and beautiful film. truly 10/10. best cinematic watch i've ever experienced. I don't see a single fault in this movie at all.

Best Movie of 2022 bar none! Needs to be watched in theaters! Forget work, forget stress take the day off grabs some friends and go watch it! 1 big difference between this and the original... 36 years later I still hear songs from it on the radio and love them. 2 weeks after seeing this one and I can't tell you the name of the main song by Lady Gaga. It's incredibly forgettable. Best songs in the new one? Old songs. :-)
You are incredibly on the mark! Thanks!
Well yeah Danger Zone by Kenny Loggins of course but I’d say the best new song from the new movie is “I ain’t worried about it” by one republic !
But I agree the lady Gaga song is laaame
Nailed it with this review. I thoroughly enjoyed this film
Glad to hear it! Thanks for the encouragement!

It was fun to make, much appreciated. Thanks!
The beginning brought tears to my eyes. Brought back so many memories of meeting my Navy husband around that time in San Diego and watching Top Gun together. That being said, I give it a 7/10. Good but not great. It was great to see it in a theater, though, and I wish my elderly father could enjoy it that way, too.
