Crusty is made up from parts of at least 5 different motors. Some are not the correct year for the serial # on the power head. When I got everything together and tried to start it, it took off on the 3 flip like it was last run that morning. It has little to no Value. I could never get back what it cost me to get it to run and its some of the best I ever spent.
As a young boy about 13 I bought a 7 & 1/2 ft. wood duck boat with a motor called speed queen-I dunno maybe it was about 3 or 4 hp--they made mainly washing machines--lol-I don't remember the year of it.
i have this motor in my basement the motor itself has been rebuilt and restores, mu problem id the bronze retainer thst hold the thrust spring on prop shaft is split and cant find another one, was thinking of welding it together but dont know if it will hold to bronze.
No Reversing mechanism. Motor is started backwards. To change direction to forward you push the kill button - move the timer to the forward starting position - and when the motor is just about to stop spinning you release the kill button the motor will restart in forward. Takes some practices but its not as hard as one might think.
I tell u what 1928 i would have ran it once just for a video but after u should have redone it an put it on a stand for everyone to see....thats a collectors item there
That is freaking awesome dude, makes you appreciate outboards for what they are & how far we’ve come. Crusty kicks ass
