As a retired owner Operator, I think Ray should check the oil, know when he needs fuel and check the lights on the truck every day. He should know the truck like the back of his hand. Just my two cents.
He has a CDL he should already know to do a pre trip inspection (every morning), he’s a heavy equipment operator he should be taken it more seriously

The trucks seem to only get attention when something is wrong. Nothing is preventative.

Weird that Tino brought him, but you've been asking for a new guy that fits in and Tino did deliver. Sometimes those awkward first times are just what you need. A resume is one thing, but his got a good work ethic
