    Ghostbusters was a massive success in 1984, but it took more than half a decade for the world to get a second one! Why? I don’t know. That information is probably available on Google. Reasons, presumably.
    Ghostbusters 2 definitely raises some questions. Like did they just redo every beat of the first movie but slightly different? Is Venkman even a Ghostbuster or are we just following his love life? And most importantly, how did everyone forget that ghosts exist?!
    To answer all these questions, check out the pitch meeting that led to Ghostbusters 2!

    "People don't believe in ghosts anymore..." "A bunch of ghosts attacked the city and there was a giant Marshmallow Man!" "5 years is a long time, sir. People forget stuff." Honestly, in more recent times, this has never felt more poignant.

Like the whole “aren’t they famous from the first movie” when the movie totally shows they are still famous! The opening scene has them at a birthday party. Crowds cheering for them at court. Just because a few characters don’t recognize them or don’t believe in ghosts doesn’t mean EVERYONE feels that way. Think of the world we live in. We went to the moon and like 40% of people think it was faked. Shit some people believe the world is flat! Just because people see something doesn’t mean they believe it,

    I’m glad you did this to draw attention to the fact that the second Ghostbusters movie was on parody with the new Ghostbusters sequel. They are both kind of ridiculous, but they are fun.

    0:49 Those coincidences were going to be explained in the unproduced third movie (the script ended up being reused for the Video Game). Dana was originally meant to be part of Ivo Shandor's family line, which is why there is so much ghost activity surrounding her. They had to change this when Sigourney Weaver turned down the role, and Alyssa Milano's character was created to replace her.

      For a very long time I didn't even realize that this ghost was Janosz. I only saw it once in the theater when I was 10, and then dozens or hundreds of times on VHS. It wasn't until DVD and HDTV as an adult that I could make out his face and make the connection.

    @4:03 well they sprayed a toaster earlier with positive slime, and when they played music it began to dance, so that's how they knew it would work on the Statue of Liberty too. Now...how they knew they could CONTROL it with a damn NES Power Stick is something I can't tell you lol

    • @JuryRigged
      @JuryRigged 23 дні тому +2

      Just want to point out somewhere, it's not that they spray it, it's that they drop a dollop of slime into the toaster. And apparently the toaster *manifests* toast that it shoots out. As for the NES controller, I'm inclined to say it's about intent, and just giving the slime something to perceive from the person using the controls.
