Pushing that scv back in was the hardest part, that oring was so thick, that it refused to go in

I've also heard that after this replacement that you need to recalibrate the system but I doubt that

I replaced the solenoid valve. Check engine light and Check fuel cap back on a couple of days later. Had the codes cleared and it returned. Did a diagnostic test from Auto Zone, yesterday. Still getting these codes. Fuel cap isn't the issue, already ruled it out. Now my RPM's are higher than before, when I am warming the car up and when I put it into gear. No issues with filling it up or starting. One thing that did change was I got a transmission code back when I started having issues with the EVAP system. Now I am just getting EVAP codes and not getting that transmission code. This is indeed a strange situation and I am frustrated!

No check engine light for me but I do have a check fuel cap light. However, my mechanic said he checked the purge valve and he didn't see anything wrong. Seems to be a common resolution so now I'm wondering if my mechanic is wrong.

I had both the fuel cap light (it was not tightened all the way) and the P0497 Code.

I changed the purge solenoid and everything was fine check engine light went off, cleared codes and they didn’t come back. After about three months, I started getting p145c and p0497. Engine is idling, rough and bad gas mileage. Always starts and has not died on me yet. Do you have any other suggestions? I’ve changed the gas cap. I’ve cleaned the MAF. I’ve checked all hoses and wiring. Do you think it could be a bad purge valve? It’s the Carquest brand that you installed in this video. I tried to install a doorman and it was way worse so I put the Carquest one back in. How do you check to see if these are bad? Any help would be grateful thank you so much.

Same car, same code. I replaced the valve with a cheap aftermarket one, and all seemed fine for 400 km. Code appeared again, then replaced with a genuine Honda. Then I noticed the EVAP vacuum is only going to -0.65 kpa with 3500 rpm. Is there a blockage somewhere else? What would be a normal range for the EVAP pressure on this car?

Have a 2023 civic 1.8L. Had a p0145c and p0497. I replaced the purge solenoid with import direct part. Problem went away. Came back 2 weeks later. Warrantied the part, codes still wouldn't clear. Bought the Honda OEM purge valve. Problem went away but came back 3 hours later. Checked evap canister for blockage, but ait was flow through it just fine. Replaced the fuel pressure sensor and gas cap. Then pulled vent solenoid on canister and tested for stroke and seal. Was good.
Codes still there. Honda purge valve is working, and I can hear it thump/ticking. I monitored fuel pressure with scan tool and saw it fluctuating between 0inwc and -0.4inwc. The -0.4inwc seems low so I'm thinking a collapsed hose or an obstruction somewhere in the hoses or air intake.

@AutoRepairTips757 yeah. I did a smoke test on it yesterday. No leaks, smoke gets to everywhere it should. No obstructions to vapor/air flow.
Have put 100+ miles on it with 30+ starts. Codes won't clear. Can clear the codes with scan tool, but they just come back.
I'm imagining that there is probably a relearn procedure that I am unaware of.

@AutoRepairTips757 going to do a relearn by clearing codes and driving down the highway at 55mph and the coasting down to a stop several times. Only thing I can think of at this point.

Perfect timing for you to post this lol. My 2008 Honda civic stalled out on me about 2 days ago while I was delivering pizzas. I checked fuses, changed spark plugs n checked all my power/grounds. Cant get the thing to start, but it cranks strong. I ran a friends code reader and it came back with no codes. Doing some late night research and I remembered I had AutoZone run their scanner about a month ago, and I did get this code P0497 as the main issue. I ended up replacing my vtec solenoid gasket instead. I really don't want to get into the whole fuel pump project so could this be my issue? I had some noise coming from the motor that was nothing too worrying at the time, and I got my gas cap message on rare occasion. Thanks for sharing this!

Can this also make rattling, ticking sound? Also could this code also cause the low pressure oil to pop up and go off?

Do you recommend putting any type of lubricant/grease on the oring when replacing the valve? If so what are your recommendations, thank you!

    Would this cause poor acceleration?

    • @cognac8297
      @cognac8297 5 місяців тому

Yeah and small vibration in the steering wheel and worse gas mileage. That's what it did to mine. Acceleration was boggy too, and once it was the air fuel ratio oxygen sensor..for those acceleration issues.

  • @jamesdaneke

typically it can also be the gas cap
