I buy from Ebay a lot. Plenty of good dealers there. APMEX, MCM, SD or JM Bullion just to name a few to use. Buy from sellers that are actual bullion dealers with thousands of sales and 98% or better rating. Also a lot of good mints on Ebay Monarch, Scottsdale, Silvertowne, Yeagers just to name a few to look for there. I look for auctions from these quality sellers if they are a low I will bid. Someone with 50 thousand sales and 99% rating your safe.
Absolutely I agree everyone is quick to blame eBay but I continually buy from and love eBay but I only buy from dealers like the ones you mentioned so It just comes down to doing your research!!!!
I also buy from Ebay. There are so many obvious fakes on Ebay (selling way below spot). Ebay could easily adopt a more intolerant attitude towards scammers, but for some reason Ebay likes them. How is the person in the video still selling after 20 people have complained about fraud. That's ridiculous. I once bought a fake Toyota auto part on Ebay from a seller who had 100% positive feedback. He had sold over a hundred items and he fooled over a hundred people until I gave the seller his first negative feedback. You can disconnect your Throttle Position Sensor and your car will still run, so even a worthless fake can fool people into believing they got something that "works", but I would expect people who buy auto parts to be more knowledgeable than some random person on the street. I personally don't buy from sellers with less than 99% positive feedback. Reviewers are so irrationally positive that 97% positive really means 25% positive.
Good thing about ebay is the buyer protection. Usually if its a 50 50 case ebay usually sides with the buyer. Can be bad if you're selling on eBay but good as a buyer. Many reputable sellers on ebay.
I saw a video with fake silver bars made from plated copper. They weighed more too, and failed an acid test. Also the silver plating was so thin that it was easy to scrape off, revealing the copper below. I used to buy silver on eBay before this was a problem. Now I'd only buy from a trusted dealer. What do you bet these are coming from China?
Ebay has become an illicit play ground for crooks. I love silver eagles but I don't think I would buy from Ebay. I did years ago before Ebay became flooded with crooks and chiselers.
Vic Green ... I hate to hear that. Sorry it was a bad experience for you. For a buyer the protection is a must but as a seller I can see how easy it would be for someone to return the Chinese crap as a replacement and now the seller is stuck.
I buy silver and gold on eBay. I AVOID any purchases from any seller who has scant feedback. Low volume sales. Look for a seller who does BIG volume, has their own separate web page for product, offers a wide selection of coinage and bullion, GUARANTEES a firm delivery date and has a 99+ customer satisfaction. Still no guarantee you'll receive the real McCoy, mind you. But I have only had to return three coins for refund. I recommend MC*M and LIBERTY as authentic dealers. Do not buy any Chinese product. BTW, eBay does guarantee customer satisfaction in the event of a bad trade
If it is a mostly copper with silver fake it won't attract a magnet. That much is for sure. It should weigh exactly what they are said to weigh from the legit real mint, because they have exacting standards.
I had two "silver" dollar coins show up in my house (no idea where they came from) last year. Didn't need to weigh them. The magnet picking them up was proof enough.
Dude, tripod. Seriously. The camera shake and position kind of ruined your informative video. You know your stuff, and I appreciate the quality content. I’m still giving a thumbs up, but better quality visuals will grow your channel faster.
i am new at bullions and i am assuming you are targeting seasoned stackers because of you go through those coins real fast. When comparing them side by side the camera is unstable and you just move them around and switch them out so fast . so as a newbie, this video is NOT for us.
4:46 the magnet slides off just like your "true rounds" so why dont you think they are real? the weight is off my a gram or less? did you do a sound check? acid test?
In China u get executed for manufacturing even few fake pennies. It is ok to mint them for export IF the receiving country does NOT object to the product.
I called E-bay 3 times about 3 different sellers who were selling counterfeit American Eagles and each time I spoke to an attendant I thought I was talking to a thank you doll, that's what they do they thank you to death, but nothing ever comes of it. I tried to report this in a few places and no one cares....... But there is the e-bay 100% money back policy, call them and get your money back.......
$17 for ASEs when spot price is $16.50 should be an immediate huge red flag. If it seems too good to be true IT IS. There is never an exception. Typically an honest dealer will even pay $1 over spot from the customer so $0.50 over spot is literally too good to be true. The US mint charges $2 over spot per coin, so anyone trying to sell mint fresh ASEs for less than $2 over spot is losing money.
Ok, so the 2016 weighed 1.05 and the 2014 weighed 1.005. far as the luster goes your comparing 2014 from a tube to some that came in a plastic bag...Do some more research on the weights people. Use grams to weigh in. I think their would be a bigger difference in gram weight if they were fake. If you will look online or compare different years on eagles they will be a difference in weight from 31.001 to 31.010. At least from what iv'e seen. PEACE!!!
The coin should weigh at least 31.1 grams. A full ounce is 31.10348 grams which I usually round off to 31.1 grams. The weight you mentioned in your comment - 31.0 grams is not even a full ounce!
The guy is at it again with a new Ebay address as TracyRDiebold with an ebay location at a motel in Oklahoma. However he is still using the same shipping address from a warehouse/building in Columbus Ohio. As soon as someone catches on to the fact that the coins are fake and gives negative feedback and contacts ebay, ebay stops posting his items, he then changes his ebay ID so no one can catch him. If you return the coins to the fake address that ebay has for a return, it does not help you get your money back. You need to give the fake coins with the shipping bag to Secret Service in your area and get a Contraband Receipt from the Secret Service. Then take a photo of the receipt and send to Ebay to get your money back. I did this and had no problem getting a refund from ebay. I suggest that you do not send the coins back to be resold. BTW the name on the bag at the beginning of video is HY Ricky. I believe is an Asian name.
I just started coin collecting again. Before, there was no internet and never a reason to wonder if a coin was a fake. It didn't even occur to me to think it until I saw this video. I hope the coin sets I've been collecting are real and I will check all the silver. I appreciate this eyeopener.
For all of you who says "dont buy on ebay". So what's your plan when you going to sell your silver then? You going to sell it to a local dealer who's going to pay like 15% below spot price or what? I agree you need to watch out for scams. But If you're saying to never buy from a private person. Then you basicly saying you can't sell your coins eigther. (unless you mean sell to a local dealer who is most likely going to pay WAY below spot. I just did a check here where I live, I could not fine any dealer paying more than 90% of spot price.
The sun on the real ones almost have like a 3D look to them, while the fakes look flat and lifeless. I appreciate the video. I'm trying to do a little more study on ALL silver fakes.
I once bought 2 silver eagles form a guy on ebay, one of them was genuine the other one was fake. It was too heavy, the ping sound was weird and the material in the core of the coin was magnetic. After I told the seller those facts, he called me an Idiot, and that the coin must be 100% genuine, because he bought it from a jeweler. I only told him that I really wonder who the real Idiot is in this whole thing is, and started a case of defect ( not sure it is call so, because I don't use ebay in english , but in my native language ^^) and he took it back. He probably sold it to somebody else already... Anyway be very careful on ebay!
no kidding!!! I've purchased quite a bit of coinage from multiple dealers ( people who have sold LOTS of coins)only to go back and verify the weight, diameter and thickness and find out ALL of the coins missed the mark...even a few 1964 Kennedy Halves!!! Thankfully a few of the sellers want you to talk to them if you have issues....boy am I going to be busy!!!!
I buy constitutional silver from fleabay, nothing else. So far I have had no problems. Silver Eagles and others like that I buy exclusively from JM Bullion. The slight increase in price is well worth the piece of mind knowing I am getting the real thing.
I have received one 2015 Panda that was fake. Guy had 100% rating with over 600 sales. He gave me my refund no question s asked. Wonder how many people don't weigh their purchases. Sticking to big name vendors for now on.
I know, I also wounder how many folks purchased these coins thinking they were real, this is bad for silver stackers. I am doing the same, buying from the big name companies.
To be honest you should avoid buying from sellers with a feedback score less than 100 (not percent, just the actual number of feedbacks received) anyway, especially for high priced items.
Brother I hate to see that somebody screwed you over I would not have taken it as well as you did... Thanks for the video, new subscriber and silver collector...
Why would you buy silver from a guy called my Ricky anyway,,,,buy from a reputable dealer...smh and I hope you turned his ass into the Secret Service because that is counterfeiting
i saw some1 selling a fake eagle on ebay i dont think he knew cause when i told him he thanked me and took it down alot of people will but on ebay then sell on there not knowing they have fakes

There's a new listing on Ebay of exactly what was sold here for the exact same price. A Lot of 10 of 2016 American Eagles for $169 by a selling account with 5 transactions and 100% positive rating. There are no pictures of what he's actually selling, just a photograph of one coin, back and front. Curiously it's the same year 2016. I wonder if these are from the same manufacturing stock as what's in the video. I'm not going to buy them and prove to myself they're fake, I'm going to follow the advice here. If it's too good to be true it probably is. There's no reason for this seller to be selling so far below the spot price. He'd easily sell out of his coins on Ebay if he was asking $25 more than he is. Some people might even be buying them even if they know they're fake, because they're the kind of people who would scam someone else one coin at a time.
hell I was worried about fakes a decade ago, let alone now with 3rd party sellers and bots flooding the market. Rip offs all over the place even apmex has a bad rap.
I got 6 fake Eagles from 3 different EBAY sellers in the USA I am going to report them to the secret service and law enforcement. The sellers agreed to refund the money.
Here is the problem. If you claim he sent you fake coins, he is going to say you are taking his "real coins" and trying to return fake ones. His word against yours. That's why you don't buy coins on Ebay.
Definitely fake. Sorry to see this happen to you. They should have extreme punishment for people selling fakes. I know there is a federal offense for forging govt backed coins iirc...
This is happening when you buy pretios metals on ebay, amazon, ..... A little bit overweight = a little bit fake. Be happy that you have APMEX and other trusted sellers. And you buy them at a decent price. In my country if i want to hold in my hands a real silver eagle , i have to pay 25-30 $
I appreciate your effort, but why didn't you make an acid test for the video? Also, you don't make any reference wether you contacted eBay or PayPal, why didn't you address that?
I bought some of these lol but they haven’t came in the mail yet. Taking like a month. I have a long history with eBay though so I’m sure they will refund me
When shtf most barters will take place with people that dont know the difference. To them, fake coins look real so it will be sad when they find out they sold all their toilet paper for fake silver.
oh, there is a guy from the russian fedration currently selling a bunch of fake british crowns for like $30. avoid the seller that says ???? russian fedration as location. I did not buy but I recognized a fake queen Victoria design from elsewhere on his ebay and all of his other coins look off and have this faint almost milky streak stuff on the face.
Call the secret service and report them!!
If you look at the lines in the dress, they're more pronounced on the fakes.
You're right, but counterfeiters are clever and skilled. I wouldn't count on that as the only way to tell if they catch on.
Liberty didn't wear a mini skirt on the authentic coin.
You are correct, but, from time to time the U.S. mint makes subtle changes in design from year to year.
I buy from Ebay a lot. Plenty of good dealers there. APMEX, MCM, SD or JM Bullion just to name a few to use. Better go check all your old stock.. I bet you will be surprised. They have been around for a long time.
100% china, they are legally able to produce US counterfeits.
That's so wayssis!
3:43 You can put a piece of paper between the magnet and the coin to avoid scratches.
That's a nice buffalo, where is that from?
It's a buffalo stacker made by the silvertowne mint
Ebay has become an illicit play ground for crooks. I love silver eagles but I don't think I would buy from Ebay. I did years ago before Ebay became flooded with crooks and chiselers.
Just make sure to buy with Paypal and you're covered, even if the seller states no refunds they will be forced to accept a return.
eBay will die slowly I think
@Juan Lopez I left the platform (as powerseller) years ago, to many refunds, charge-backs scams and crime
Vic Green ... I hate to hear that. Sorry it was a bad experience for you. For a buyer the protection is a must but as a seller I can see how easy it would be for someone to return the Chinese crap as a replacement and now the seller is stuck.
It’s safe to buy from DB coins, Liberty, APMEX, Silver Gold Bull Are some of the reliable ones that sell a lot on Ebay
I buy silver and gold on eBay. I AVOID any purchases from any seller who has scant feedback. Low volume sales. Just asking. Is selling fake silver the same as passing fake money?
If proven to be China. it is actually an act of war. It is in the constitution.
In China u get executed for manufacturing even few fake pennies. It is ok to mint them for export IF the receiving country does NOT object to the product.
YES, when it is legal currency issued by the US mint. It's the same as counterfeiting bills.

Reputable dealers sell on ebay too, not just the scammers. Apmex is about the best to use, also as a cross reference for prices too.
Would you buy from big named sellers like apmex who have stores on ebay
Why are sales of counterfeit american currency not prosecuted? I called the Secret Service and they didn't seem to care.
They are too busy trying to frame Trump then find any actual criminals.
Place your camera on a stand so your hands can be free.

eBay can be tough no doubt. Lots of folks won’t even suspect fakes until they try and sell them to a dealer... thanks for the information!
Bullion Exchange is also a reputable dealer on EBay. Their prices on silver bars can’t be best.

Don't buy gold silver of eBay ,only reputable dealers 👍
Dress stripes and foot is a dead giveaway
Thats what people get for trying to get rediculous deals.
Why would you buy silver from a guy called my Ricky anyway,,,,buy from a reputable dealer...smh and I hope you turned his ass into the Secret Service because that is counterfeiting

Get someone to hold your camera, you're giving me a headache. And you never mention how off the fake Liberty's dress looks.
Thanks for all the info man. I buy from Ebay ut only use the dealers to buy from.
Yeah the real ASE's have a much more smoother appearance and higher embossing (especially the rising sun) and much better lustre
Dude just take a file to the fake coins and see what metal is inside after knowing they are fake. You're not going to try and re sell them are you.. so destroy a couple and see what's inside. Copper maybe
Thanks for the show it's really an eye-opener
years ago , I was foolish enough to buy through Ebay a 1916d Mercury dime , , , it was fake , , , Ebay had a good laugh !!!
I just reported a scammer seller on eBay trying to peddle those 2020 Silver Eagles.
in 2008 they changed the U in united you could tell by that alone

Buy local only. Test it in front of the dealer. I have never been burned by this.
Re regardless of what the merchant say ,Do not send payment by friends and family...from anyone...
Looked like the magnet slid slow on the fake too
Yep the magnet will act the same with copper as well

Yep sure enough the reviews are streaming in. The coins are fake.
He might have set up many accounts a few months before he intends to use them knowing that they’ll eventually be shut down or abandoned.
There are probably from TEMU. I have a stack gold and silver for kicks.
If you buy precious metals on ebay, make sure it's a reputable seller. Thousands of feedbacks. If not, a fool and his money are soon parted.
Facebook is similarly complicit in the fake coin trade. i have some fake “koalas” from Facebook. Thank you for posting this video.
This is why a regular joe can't sell coins anymore with the new ebay managed payment requirements.
also, the sound that the coin made as the magnet slid was very sus, lol
Silver test kit... the best way for sure...other then exrays of it .
www.thegoldlock.com has a magnetic scanner for sale
hell I was worried about fakes a decade ago, let alone now with 3rd party sellers and bots flooding the market. Rip offs all over the place even apmex has a bad rap.
I noticed that u didn't do the magnet test on the fake coin
ooops my bad i saw it the second time i watched
Bruce Liggett ... I thought the same thing. I must have been pre-occupied.
Theres a lot more high relief on the real Eagle and the sun is different also. Thanks for sharing! Subbed! US
Hi Undefined Silver! I just subscribed to your channel! Nice video content! 😎
I got 6 fake Eagles from 3 different EBAY sellers in the USA I am going to report them to the secret service and law enforcement. The sellers agreed to refund the money.
Just a suggestion: compare the look of the sun and rays on the real coins with those on the fakes. The fakes are much flatter.
Great video thank you for sharing this information .
Once it fails the diamagnetic test you are all the way done.
I would never buy silver/gold coins from Ebay.
Mines are 1.100. But they pass the ping test and the magnet test…..
Here is the problem. If you claim he sent you fake coins, he is going to say you are taking his "real coins" and trying to return fake ones. His word against yours. That's why you don't buy coins on Ebay.
Im not very familiar with that round and I could tell just by it's appearance that it wasn't right
Definitely fake. Sorry to see this happen to you. They should have extreme punishment for people selling fakes. I know there is a federal offense for forging govt backed coins iirc...

All of these coins are supposed to weigh 31.1g and no more.
How much did you pay for them? If it was anything under spot you should have known better.
Fake coins on eBay who would of thought LOL... First rule of collecting NEVER buy from eBay.
I bought some of these lol but they haven’t came in the mail yet. Taking like a month. I have a long history with eBay though so I’m sure they will refund me
You could forget the magnet and scale on those....they LOOK fake as hell.
Never buy from eBay silver or gold
Sometimes i question the good feedback. It could be bots. Or the seller is buying from himself.
When shtf most barters will take place with people that dont know the difference. To them, fake coins look real so it will be sad when they find out they sold all their toilet paper for fake silver.
wait you said you bought from someone in ohio?? it says ITEM LOCATION ATWATER, CALIFORNIA!
Hi American Eagle Horder! I just subscribed to your channel! Nice video content! I love your channel banner!😎
oh, there is a guy from the russian fedration currently selling a bunch of fake british crowns for like $30. avoid the seller that says ???? russian fedration as location. I did not buy but I recognized a fake queen Victoria design from elsewhere on his ebay and all of his other coins look off and have this faint almost milky streak stuff on the face.
if they are fake then they are good as that come, I saw very minor changes but not enough to call from my end
gene Pohlemann ... once I noticed the exaggerated vertical stripes on the lower portion of the dress I quit looking. The stood out like a sore thumb.
