I did this about 10 yrs ago but never did much prep work. it lloked great at first but dirty spots started coming off after few yrs after ten yrs i t was getting worse. live n learn do it right the first time
That gray is the exact color I want for my Daihatsu Hijet 4WD mini truck that's on its way from Japan. The mini truck is white and I'm painting the exterior and interior gray. If that job goes as planned, I'll probably use black bed liner on the outside of my black 2005 4Runner so it matches the door jams. I want the mini truck pickup bed to be rough textured and everything else to be a much smoother surface finish, so thanks for showing the top loading spray gun with thinned urethane for a smoother finish. Raptor has flecks of rubber so there is a minimal texture, but Monstaliner has no texture additives. The texture is a function of the application method, so in theory I can thin it and get a smooth paint finish, with multiple coats for a thick durable coating with consistent color throughout for scratch resistance, chip resistance and overall durability.
Beautiful job ! In France it's like that we like raptor liner (fine grain) but they don't want to give their secret to have this grain. It's finaly 15% of dilution and an average distance of a forearm. How many coats to have this result ? Do you obtain the gray expected (with raptor mix and dilution) ? Thanks
I am planning on doing the light tan, whatever color they call that on my 93 Ford Econoline 250 Sportsmobile. I love the idea of being able to lay this down nice and smooth... I am not looking for a shiny perfect paint job, but all the truck bed liner jobs look the same, I was just going for the different look... That and I want to put the Sportsmobiile decals back on the van...
Hmmm. We are trying this and it looks amazing but when you look down the side of the truck you can see parts that are more shiny than other parts… almost like uneven stripes. We have two more bottles and will try to do a dust coat to eliminate that but this is not as easy as you all made it look. We’ve had nothing but trouble shooting it through a gun like that with a 2.0 tip and it being reduced. Does look cool though
LOVELY we did not see close enough how your texture came out loll,we trying to spray our ute holden hx hz,as it stays outside parking, incase some may sabotage the paint unfortunately, otherwise it cost to match the ordinary paint these days as they charge fortune to match otherwise is it not, thanks for that mate i think it will come great, even if it will coat a clear on it, i think i would be more better to me i hope, cheers fellers
I've searched and searched. I'm digging this raptor liner. You done one hell of a job. I'll be looking at the rest of this build. Question for you. Do you recommend a person try this with absolutely no experience? I understand all the prep work. It's the painting part for me.
I did my O2 Tacoma I have the same texture and it was Tintable I was able to get it done with the adjustable East Wood undercoat gun I really like this product it doesn’t really have any flexibility to it even though my fender flares I did and that’s flexible rigid plastic are used the adhesion helper bulldog stuff but I love this product I did mine in lunar rock which is a 2020 Toyota color I love it great work came out really nice good job guys will be nice to hear I know this video was taken a while back how it’s holding up mines about a year old and it still has that sheen matte finish!
That truck came out awesome! You should be stoked….. I did a Raptor paint job on a beat up junkyard shell. It looks like new after one year and I get tons of compliments and questions. I am thinking about Raptor’ing my 02 Harley soon. I like the gray color
You should do a tutorial/video on UA-cam. There are hardly any videos of how to chop a car. Planning to do it myself one day and would love to get a proper explanation of how it’s done.
wonderful job lads .im getting my 01 landcruiser ready for much the same paint job with a top loader. i prefer the smooth finish. cheers from Ireland .
Hi guys amazing job I'm currently getting ready to hit my camper, this video has made me think about getting it through my gun instead. (I generally paint waterbase/2k solvent) What paint did you use tint it? I was going to go white but this looks sweet! I have 8 bottles of white raptor thinking about tinting it with 2k jet black to make a grey. What do you think?
Hey mate thinking Of buying a project Gq ute That needs work, If you don’t mind me asking How much round about did all the paint priming an sanding cost.? Cheers Ashton🍻
I loved the colour I would like to paint my Delica the same colour, I did see you call it A7 not grey. Is A7 the paint code as I can not find it online?
Im lloking at doing mu GU Patrol in Raptor. As i want a finer texture like you did for the GQ what reducer did you go with, I couldn't quite make out the label on the can that was on your bench.
introducing ‘Coal’ the patrol! Thanks everyone for the name suggestions in the previous video!
wonder how well the mud washes off?
Hi, can you list the pressures used to get the smoothest texture?
How many bottles it took mate

dude this looks insane, i normally hate raptor not a big fan of the real gritty look but this has me converted
Me too mate! I’m super happy how it turned out!
Is the coating just as tough as when it’s sprayed with more texture, I’d love to see a bit of chip and scratch testing on a spare panel

Is it just as durable as if it was more gritty? Does apraying it like this lower the toughness of it?
What did you use for reducer?
How did it hold up? Looks great!

Nice work, have to ask were did you get the paint from to mix with the raptor? Y I ask is the product says to Acrylic paint..
I got it from a paint shop, it’s just the tint that you buy apparently not the actuall paint
I know yall did this a while ago but what size tip was used in that gun? I live in the states and wanna do my 99 suburban and want a smooth finish.
can you give me the run down of your mixture? how much tint? how much thinner that goes with the 1 liter coating and 8 oz hardener

Hey Ashton, I’d say all up with primer masking tape and all that including the raptor kit I’d be around the 500-600 mark!
Did you have to reduce it any? I have some slow urethane reducer i can use and what size tip did you use on the gun?
wow it's an impressive color, what color did you use and how much did you dilute it with 🔥
Looks great! How is it holding up ?
You can thin raptor down with urethane thinner, like a lot! Then your raptor goes further too
Normal people: "it's just grey"
Patrol owners: "excuse me it's actually A7"
Dw bro I appreciate that A7 grey, it's mint
😂😂 jeez gonna have to teach that girl of mine!
What size fluid tip did u have to use to spray that thru hvlp?
farkin beatiful mate keep em comin

What pressure was this truck sprayed? Looks awesome.
What is the mixing ratio and what are all the chemicals used in looking to do this to my truck

Looks sick man what a beast
Thanks corey!!

what ratio did you thin it out at? im thinking 3:1:6 thinner for me

how much pressure did you use on the first coat and how much on the dust coat?
Can you tell me how much thinner and colour you put in each Litre of raptor please
Looks the goods, well done!
Thanks Sean!!
Can’t wait to see it finished mate . Planning to do it on my GU how much does it all cost for the raptor
Was around 250-300$ for the paint and masking etc
What psi and reducer amount did you end up with?
How many litres you used and how many coats?
Lost track of the coats but I used 4L of raptor for the cab
make the tray the same colour with a black bed, reckon that would look mint
That’s actually a pretty solid idea!
Hey Tom. How much raptor did you use in the process? I’m about to do an old hilux in white. Cheers in advance. 👌🏼

Can you tell me what code color please ?
Thanks

more details for the smooth finish please. compressor pressure per stage and any retardants and such i want to do the same thing to my Gen 1 Sequoia

Wondering what primer was used? Not sure if I missed that in the video, but I'm wondering if it is an important part?
You really only need primer if you have bare mealtal showing. If not just sand the gloss off and spray the raptor.
What PSI did you use please.
What type of spray gun were you got it!!?
what psi did you run at the gun and tip size?....Wanting to do my truck with this stuff and am wanting a similar texture to what yours is.
