OMG I am still so amused that I know the sister of the original owner - how awesome!!! Her sister , my 3rd grade teacher in 1984, was such an awesome teacher! She also collected Cabbage Patch Kids and would let us bring our CPKs to school and she had a designated table in the back of our classroom dedicated to where we could leave our babies all day while we learned! I am so glad you found these! It was kismet!
As someone who was born in 1996 I miss the optimism and magic of the 1980s before things became dark again in the 1990s and 2000s and people became so ugly to eachother. This video is pure and wholesome and it makes me very sad and makes me cry because it makes me wish I was a kid again because being an adult sucks. 😢 The 1980s seemed more futuristic and hopeful than the actual modern day corporate and materialistic world we live in today. Thank you so much for keeping the spirit and beauty of the 1980s alive today. ❤️ 😊 I love cabbage patch kids they are super cute and adorable! ❤
I love that you have a childhood picture of your cabbage patch dolls. It’s adorable, and so cool. I remember the baby powder smell on their little plastic shoes. It smelled so good. I never forgot their scent & that’s why I have a tiny collection of four cabbage patch dolls. It stated out a few months ago actually. I started with a 1984 Cabbage Patch doll. For the nostalgia of their scent, and also that’s my birth year. It’s a head mold number 4 pacifier face by Coleco from factory KT. Then I bought two new cabbage patch kids from the Cabbage Patch Kids website. Then I bought the other one from an online seller. It’s the 25th Anniversary cabbage patch toddler. It brings a spoon, and has a little tooth sticking out.
Thanks Ruth! It's nice to hear that you were able to start a new collection of vintage Cabbage Patch Kids. I still get a burst of nostalgia whenever I see that yellow and green box, ha! It's nice to meet a kindred spirit. Enjoy your babies!
AW those cabbage patch kids are super adorable and awesome! Your enthusiasm and passion for your childhood touches my soul in the best ways! :D 1980s stuff and merchandise must be protected at all costs! All of this needs to be preserved as these serve as time capsules to the best decade and time period in human history.
Thank you, and I agree they're adorable! I bought them with the intention of resale, but so far I haven't been able to part with any of my "babies" much to Keith's dismay, LOL!!
Loved my cabbage patches from the 80s wish i still had mine i had one with a passafire then a blonde cornsilk and a coosa when they came out so much fun in the 80s
Wow what a haul! I wasn't allowed to have Cabbage Patch Kids in the 80's but I recently got a NITB 1984 Preemie on Ebay that I got to open to finally experience that joy. The box was falling apart, not in excellent condition like these, so I wasn't really ruining anything. She makes me so freaking happy! I also love that there are sellers out there who make new CPK clothes from old 80's patterns. There's still a chance to experience the magic. 🦄
That is awesome!! I'm so glad you finally got to experience the joy of opening and "adopting" a Cabbage Patch Kid. They're just so freakin' cute and lovable! I didn't even know people were creating new CPK clothes using the old patterns, how cool! Glad you enjoyed my video, thanks for watching! All the best, Abby :)
Wow! I still have all of my mama's orginals from when she was 10. I'm 12 right now and I still love them!!! she had 4. 2 kids and 2 preemies. Priscilla Ashley, Jake Gilly, Jess Marsh, and Amy Deloris.!!!
That's awesome!! Thanks for stopping by our channel! I still played with my Cabbage Patch Kids when I was your age, and when I got a bit older I kept them on a shelf in my room for decoration. Their little faces just make you want to smile. Glad your mom saved her kids to pass on to you!
Will do! By the way, I did have a couple of CPK items in my last thrift haul. Here's a link in case you missed it: ua-cam.com/video/_KPesSlF4ig/v-deo.html Thanks for watching my videos 😊
I remember when the twins came out!!! I wanted the set soooo bad. It was the top item on my Christmas wish list. My delight when they were under the tree. They were twin girls with red hair and one had a pacifier. They are in my cedar chest back home. Can’t wait to get home for a visit to see them
That's amazing!! I never had any twins, wow! Did you know the red-haired dolls are more collectible? Your twins might be valuable (although I'm sure they're priceless to you!) Enjoy your visit 💗
So cool! I was wondering what the other language was, so thanks for the information! That doll is both rare and adorable! Thanks for watching my video Benny :)
Thanks Sarah! There were originally 2 Triang girls, and I'm still kicking myself for not snagging the other one... not surprised she was gone when I came back with my cash in hand, sigh. But I'm thrilled with the ones I got. They're all precious!
Do you remember the twin cabbage patch kids? I had one set of the twins, and also one of the corn silk cpk. Had a few of the originals too. Remember when they came out, people were fighting over them. Someone offered my parents money for one they had just bought me. Crazy insanity for sure!! Awesome cpk haul! 😃😎💕
Hi Jackie! I've seen the twins and corn silk kids, but I never had either of those. I had two little preemies that I used to call "twins" because they looked similar, lol! Oh yes, I remember all the craziness when they first got really popular. I don't think any toys have created such a commotion since then! I still think they're adorable! Thanks for watching :)
What a cool score Abby. I think you got some good finds and I bet they are worth some moolah. Back in 2014, we went on our family vacay to Helen, GA. The town right next to it is Clevland, Ga which is where the inventor of the Cabbage patch doll was from. The BabyLand General Hospital is there where they say the cabbage patch dolls are born lol. We took our kids to tour it. You can purchase a doll from there and it can be "born" there. The doctor will deliver it, take it to the different rooms and dress it. It is also a museum for old dolls. You should go to visit it sometime. WE bought a small one with a bunny ear outfit. Our youngest daughter took up with it and slept with that doll until just this year. We called her Cottontail lol. She looks rough now.
That's awesome!! I've heard about Babyland General, and we've watched videos about it. I've been wanting to go there since I was a kid back in the 80's. I'll admit, the whole cabbage birthing thing is super weird, but I definitely want to do the tour one of these days. Keith has even agreed to join me; although, he's not exactly thrilled, lol!
@@Our80sLife Yes it is weird but I guess I can check it off the list that I’ve been there. Helen GA is a cool town though. They call it German Town. The whole town looks like a German village, similar to how bush Gardens Williamsburg looks. I think there were German immigrants that migrated there at one point that made it like that. Really cool though.
This video brought back so many wonderful memories for me! I found one just like the one I had as a child on eBay yesterday! She’s just like your Benna 💛
To get the smell back into the dolls hair maybe try some baby powder spray. Just spray a few inches from the hair and then place a shower cap over the heads.
That's a good idea! I've been trying to find some of that perfume, Love's Baby Soft. Do you remember that?! I loved it! I think I can get some on Amazon.
OMG! The little brown headed girl with the white dress over your shoulder was exactly my very first cabbage patch doll! Her name was Ella Mae Dulcie. My mom gave her away to a family member who adopted a couple of girls and needed some toys. She found a good home, but now that I’ve gotten into collecting, I’ve been looking for her! If you’re ever interested in selling her, hit me up!❤️
Aww, she's such a cutie, and probably my favorite of this haul. Glad to know yours at least went to a good home and was well-loved. I haven't decided what to do with these dolls, will probably sell them eventually. As of now, they're staying in the boxes on a shelf. You might want to check out my friend Dee's channel, which focuses on Cabbage Patch Kids and vintage dolls. She belongs to some collectors' groups that could probably help you locate one, plus her channel is really fun. Here's a link: ua-cam.com/channels/HPAIrft4YTWJSz7iC6Vq8g.html Thanks for watching!!
These sweet Cabbage Patch Kids took me back to being a little girl! I had a couple of them growing up.....I wish I would have saved them 😭 I do have a preemie that I saved and Kenadie and Keaton have played with her over the years. Oh that baby smell! Mine still has the smell a little bit but I wouldn’t know how to add more smell so it would be interesting if anyone lets you know how to do it! And wow, such a rare one! That’s so cool!!
Hey Krista! Now you get to enjoy the real baby smell whenever you want, ha! It’s the fountain of youth, right?! I still haven’t figured out how to get back that fresh baby powder scent.
Ah I noticed on your Tri-Ang Cabbage Patch Kids box it is written in Afrikaans, which I speak since I am South African, I could translate it for you lol (Dankie dat jy my aangeneem het! - Thank you for adopting me!)
That's awesome!! I had a neighbor in college that was from South Africa, and she had the most lovely accent (which I'm sure you do as well!) I had never heard of the Triang dolls before finding this one, and now I'm learning all kinds of new things. Thanks for watching my video Sandra :)
Wow!! This awesome!!! I don’t know if I could bring myself to take them out of them out of the boxes, unless it was my dream cpk, which is a brunette in a pink windbreaker. I gotta dig out some of my collection and film it. I have tons! The white sneakers with the pink stripes are my favorite cpk sneakers. I don’t ever remember the dolls having a baby powder smell in the 80’s. My anniversary remake smelled like it though. She’s a brunette wearing blue courdoroy pants with a purple windbreaker. I think your favorite one in the lot is also mine too, lol. I have a cpk lamp that has a full sized cpk doll on it, made of plaster. It’s wearing the same outfit as your favorite one, but the dress is yellow. I’ll film it soon. I never knew other companies made the CPK’s.
Hi Melissa!! Hope you're having a nice weekend! After I filmed this video, I put them all right back into their boxes, lol! Then my friend texted me wanting to buy the blonde girl for her daughter! I loved the baby powder smell, and I really wish they still smelled good. That lamp sounds amazing, can't wait to see!
@@Our80sLife I’m doing ok. We had a bad snow storm that dumped like 6 feet of snow on us. I hope you guys had a good weekend too. That’s awesome that someone wants to buy one! I hope I can find a vintage one mint in the box, some day.
I had both care bares and cabbage patch kids in the late 80s, and I’m a 85 baby. I don’t have them now. The only thing that’s still survived from the 80s is my baby blanket lol 😂
I guess this is the one advantage of my parents' hoarding stuff, lol! Currently helping them clean out their basement, closets, etc. and it's pretty overwhelming! Hopefully I'll find some more of my childhood treasures!
This is a bit late but dissolving Lux soap flakes in warm water and rinsing it through leaves a clean smell. Your collection is wonderful. I've bought a couple in the box and nothing beats that just out of the factory, firmly stuffed, new diaper feel to them.
Interesting, thanks Mina! I've actually never heard of Lux soap flakes, but my friend who's a collector said you can even clean them in the washing machine on the delicate cycle in a pillowcase. Mind blown!!
Hi I just found two cabbage patch kids from 1984 they r so cute! Do you recommend keeping them in their boxes idk what to do with them. The birth certificates are unopened
Awesome! You should keep the birth certificates unopened, and it's probably best to keep them in the box if you want them to retain their value or you're planning to resell them at some point. If you just want them for yourself, it's fine to remove them, but definitely keep the boxes! Congrats on your new babies!! For more detailed information from a knowledgeable collector, I recommend checking out my friend's channel, Deez Cabbies: ua-cam.com/channels/HPAIrft4YTWJSz7iC6Vq8g.html
Sometime this month will be 7 years ago that I got my Cabbage Patch Kid Hamilton Loy. And oddly, he still has a little of the baby powder scent on his face.
Nice!! I miss that wonderful smell of the fresh baby powder. I wish there was a way to make it last forever. Anyway, thanks for watching my video Austin!
Hi! Is there anyway to do a hard reset on a talking cabbage patch doll that won't talk? I have one who moved her mouth and doesn't speak, but I have a couple more that don't do anything. What can I try?
Hi Bonnie, sorry I can't help you with that. I don't have any of the talking dolls. You might check out my friend Doreen's channel @DeezCabbiesDollsandToys which focuses on Cabbage Patch Kids and other collectible dolls. She knows a lot more about them than I do, and she might be able to answer that for you.
I didn't know CPKs were ever made in South Africa. I wonder where else they were made? (Besides China and Hong Kong.) Beatrica is my favorite too. I watched your original CPK video while doing research to sell a CPK who looked like a red-haired version of Beatrica. Her name was Fairlie. Fairlie was unexpectedly hard to part with because she had been my grandma's and was kept more or less mint, like the dolls in this video. Beatrica also reminds me of my CPK Mary, who has the same complexation and the same dress. Unfortunately, I can't keep CPKs here. It's too humid and hot in the summer. I'm afraid they'll get "Cabbage Pox". (Mary already has one spot.) One favorite '80s childhood memento I can keep here are Pound Puppies. Did you have Pound Puppies as a kid? Would you consider doing a video on them? I'd love to meet the pack!
Hi Lisa, thanks for stopping by our channel and watching our videos! Cabbage Patch Kids were also made in factories in Spain, Mexico, and Japan. I've learned from my research that they each have slightly different characteristics, and the dolls made in foreign factories are usually more valuable. It's so interesting! Sorry to hear you had to part with yours. I didn't think about the humidity affecting them so much. I think we're lucky to live in the midwest where most people have nice, cool basements to store their dolls in and protect them from the dreaded "pox." Yes, both Keith and I each had a Pound Puppy as kids. I still have mine, plus a couple others I've purchased at estate sales recently. Here's another thrift haul video from a couple years ago when I found a Pound Puppy: ua-cam.com/video/jcZm65USgVU/v-deo.html
I loved CP kids and tried to make some (I had two friends who could fashion amazing look-alikes.) Alas, I had better luck crocheting Barbie clothes and miniature stuff for doll houses.
Well, these dolls were never played with or even removed from their boxes. The lady I bought them from must have been very careful with them. Although, all Troll dolls look old, lol! Thanks for watching :)
Do you ever wonder why they gave these dolls such bizarre names sometimes? I’ve actually heard the name “hortense” before, it’s a very old name, from the 1800’s or so. I can’t remember exactly where I heard it, but I know I have.
Creepy?! That's a hilarious comment, ha! I've definitely seen some creepy dolls, but I wouldn't qualify Cabbage Patch Kids. When Keith was younger, his mom had a collection of clown dolls... talk about creepy!!!
Paul Charlie looks just like my doll Eugene Stewart except Eugene has a duck on his outfit instead of an elephant and he has a different name and he is from ‘83
Do you have the cabbage kids from 1989 are u able to do a video of each year in the 80s? I want to pick up one with red hair but the hair is not yarn... can you talk about the different hairs? And the tags how the circle on the left side says ok or has a p or.... what does that mean?
Thanks for watching my video! I don't have any 1989 Cabbage Patch Kids, and I'm definitely not an expert on the hairstyles, tags, etc. I recommend you check out my friend's channel, Deez Cabbies: ua-cam.com/channels/HPAIrft4YTWJSz7iC6Vq8g.html She's very knowledgeable about Cabbage Patch Kids, and I'm sure she could help answer your questions.
IM 60 YEARS OLD I STILL HAVE 4 CABBAGE PATCH KIDS NOT IN THEIR ORIGINAL BOXES MY FAVORITE IS A LITTLE GIRL YELLOW HAIR HER EYES OPEN UP WHEN SHES IN A SITTING POSITION
This makes me sad. I had 2 of them when I was a little girl. My mom & Dad divorced and my mom became wicked she threw away ALL of my dolls both of my cabbies and other dolls etc
Hi there. Although I love my Cabbage Patch Kids, I'm definitely not a serious collector (or expert.) For more information about the dolls, I'd recommend checking out my friend's channel, Deez Cabbies Dolls and Toys: ua-cam.com/users/DeezCabbiesDollsandToys
They were purchased by a lady who collected dolls, as part of her collection. I was lucky enough to stumble onto them at her estate sale... they're like a time capsule!

I just subscribed to your channel
I have three cabbage patch kids at home their names are Bucky a.k.a. Bella Apple Sarah a.k.a Sarah and then lolly a.k.a. Lola
I love cabbage patch kids I have one
Awesome!
@@Our80sLife your welcome. Cabbage Patch Kids rock.
Hi! I am new to your channel and I LOVE the 80s!
Hi Shannon!! Welcome to the party! Long live the 80's!!!
@@Our80sLife Yep! I did not grow up in the 80s; I grew up in the 2000s lol! But, my parents grew up in the 80s and I am so jealous!
I think there were lots of homemade versions back in the day. Believe it or not, Keith even had one which was made by his grandma!
How you keep the doll stay new and perfect? I have 90s trolls and she looks 100 years older. 🥲
I belive the names were machine -generated because every kid had a different name
@@ma146rina yeah, maybe. I just wish they didn’t pick such weird names though.
Go to bountifulbaby.com and buy a scented baby powder wafer, and pop it in their diaper
Still creepy to me. Hahaha glad you got them for a good deal though and it was interesting seeing them.
Creepy?! That's a hilarious comment, ha! I've definitely seen some creepy dolls, but I wouldn't qualify Cabbage Patch Kids. When Keith was younger, his mom had a collection of clown dolls... talk about creepy!!!
@@Our80sLife my mom had one cabbage patch kid and as a kid it freaked me out haha still gets to me 😳 😄
Paul Charlie looks just like my doll Eugene Stewart except Eugene has a duck on his outfit instead of an elephant and he has a different name and he is from ‘83
Cool! Thanks for watching my video Carilynn!
I'm looking for Premier 20 minutes that are still in the box do you know of any
35 Years Ago
You have 18 CB Kids! You are busy!
Or crazy!! 🤣
IM 60 YEARS OLD I STILL HAVE 4 CABBAGE PATCH KIDS NOT IN THEIR ORIGINAL BOXES MY FAVORITE IS A LITTLE GIRL YELLOW HAIR HER EYES OPEN UP WHEN SHES IN A SITTING POSITION
Sweet! I don't have any of the ones whose eyes close, sounds adorable! Thanks for stopping by our channel and watching my video Roberto!
Did you find those cabbage patch kids
I found them at an estate sale.
Does the preemie have a smell still?
Unfortunately not. All of my old kids have lost their scent. 😢
how meny cabbage patch kids do you have.
I had 13 from the 80s and still have those, plus the ones I've acquired at estate sales (I think about 6 more.)
i have 11 cabbage patch kids
Awesome!!
Do you want to sell the one top right???
How much little one worth
Prices vary, but the original Preemie (new in box) is currently selling for about $40 - $50 on Ebay.
My mom always wanted one of these, but she told me that they didn't have money
Bummer :(
you
This makes me sad. I had 2 of them when I was a little girl. My mom & Dad divorced and my mom became wicked she threw away ALL of my dolls both of my cabbies and other dolls etc
That is sad, sorry to hear about that :(
That's fowl
It’s so sad that they never had the love of a child.
I have an 80s doll I’m trying to identify can we connect on maybe Instagram or something to find out more about her and value?
Hair conditioner and water in a spray bottle where are you down here and watch and that dry
Thanks for the tips Sharon! 😊
AND ONE WITH HER BABY TOOTH EXPOSED
Isn't she a cutie?!
Wtf I thought you were 15. You look young
Thanks!
What a waste that they were never opened back then! Insane! The most coveted toy for several years and they were unopened?!😩🤷🏻♀️
They were purchased by a lady who collected dolls, as part of her collection. I was lucky enough to stumble onto them at her estate sale... they're like a time capsule!
That’s what collectors do! 😂
If I found a 80s cabbage patch kid in box
I would open that bad boy right away sorry collectors
There dangerous
No they’re not
How are they dangerous-
