Amazing presentation! Definetly inspired me and shown me some amazing new tools! Noticed one problem at 35:22. When you subtract 0.5 from texture with vector math, you just move it all uniformly 0.5 units in same direction it has been already. To really make each axis random I would use Combine XYZ node and connect to each input same 4d noise with different W value. That way deformation will be non-uniform and will be much more random Anyway, great work, man, I really learned a lot from you here!
RGB noise is random in each axis already so the way Midge did it was to centre the displacement around the original point positions to make it properly random rather than always having a bias towards 1,1,1
Terrific presentation! I just wandering if there is a concrete chance to generate ply files from normal video sequences (from a Movie, for instance), instead of using LIDAR sensors. Usually software like Metashape just have several issues to align properly
12:40 When I render after converting to points from mesh (geometry nodes) nothing at all appears, it looks invisible and the colour has disappeared. Any tips?

I couldn't make it to BCon but I was the guy who redid the PLY importer. I am very very happy you got to present a good use case for it! Thank you.
Awesome! Thanks for your work. We should really try to get in to master tbh, so useful!
🎉
Thank you so much, mate! I use your importer a lot, great work!
@@MatheusLeston A group of five have nearly completed a shiny new C++ io ply module 😀
@@MichaelProstka NICE! Looking forward to it!
have been a fan for a long time! Thank you Midge for everything you do!
I used to make lines like this with mesh line and attribute transfer, will have to try this method also!
That would be amazing to create volumetric motion blur that you could pan around realtime!

True, but that requires more setup than I had time for hehe

I believe in you little laptop!
Amazing content as usual!

love this
This was an awesome presentation. Loved the technique. I've aalso enjoyed your mograph course! :)
Cool, glad you enjoyed the course! :)
Galaxy Note Ultra's (and i guess S22 Ultra) have ToF sensors ("LIDAR"). Have not used them for point clouds though, to propose some android apps.
me: maybe 3k verts are a bit too much

Nice one
I really wonder what's in that 'Farts' directory now 🤔
👏👏👏👏
I want to know what drug was used in order to come up with this art style.

@@negrobunny I appreciate your birth
Nice Guy!
you are actually able to really optimize this setup by rendering the curves with the hair system so you will have 0 faces
bruh 🤦♀️
what distro he is using?
I believe I had Ubuntu 22.04 on that laptop at the time.
Way too on time of modern phones , just smooth those points and you got all building
Don’t forget to buy the iphone pro!
I really wish there was a cheaper option honestly
@@MidgeSinnaeve You can try photogrammetry
Hey why don’t I donate some real LiDAR data… never mind. 😂
