That song is one that my step mother, who is Serbian, can't stop crying over. For the Serbians, is a testament of all the hardships of WW1. It describes their journey from their homes to Albania, where the Albanians guerilla fighters attacked them relentlessly and finally they reached Corfu in Greece where the Greeks treated the wounded, buried the dead, and took care of hundreds if not thousands of Serbian children.

When Kaiser Wilhelm the 2nd send a letter to Venizelos(Greek PM) asking to join the central powers and attack Serbia, venizelos replied:"My country is too small to commit such a big betrayal".
Revenge for the massacers that happened just 3 years ago during the Balkan Wars.
the funniest thing is after all of that they joined the fight again and continued together with the greeks and other allies to push and free their country.

My three grandfathers survived Albanian Golgotha and fight on Thessaloniki front. They came home many of these mans fall for Serbia and never see it liberated.
