    i have an old Japanese company "custom" sg that i love. i've never put those desprictions to it, but the whole thing is walnut and everything youre saying is totally relevant. it feels good to see people using walnut on purpose!!

    I definitely hear a difference. I wouldn't say a tighter low end. I think your description is more accurate using the term creamy low end. For all the people who say woods don't make a difference in tone, you're crazy! It absolutely does! Sounds awesome Rob!

Love your products, and what you're doing is brilliant! You got the average guy's back in this whole gear quality vs price thing, really appreciate it! Boom!

    I own this guitar yet with the set neck of the start of Chapman guitars. Getting it in Australia was luck brand new and really still love it. Still has the 3 Seymour Duncan rail neck 59 jnr mid and 4 pounder in bridge. Still love it very much it will be staying as permanent. As a veteran pensioner it’s hard to get savings up for an updated amp. Cab and head ..

    I own an ML-1 with a particular grain. It is satin finish mahogany, but you can see the variations on the wood more than in any other model I've tried. I changed the push-pull to a push-push, much smoother, and the grovers, which I found a bit wide, to Duesenbergs Z tuners, easy and precise. The Guitarnivore just sounds amazing and the single-coils are very stratty. The neck pu in single position hums quite a bit, but it's a single coil... Great guitar with beautiful aesthetics. I personnally like the black back & sides. The ML-1 is one of my favourite guitars. A definite keeper. Rock on Chappers ! \m/

    It has a very pleasant tone; I get your creamy reference. How is it for fretboards? I'm getting ready to purchase a Dean Edge 1 6 VM (6- string bass, mahogany body), and it has a walnut fretboard. Problem is, the model is so new that nobody has posted a demo video yet.

    Rob, I think its brilliant that you're using other woods than just maple and mahogany (which is a bit dodgy as some species have a rather worrying conservation status). I wonder, are you going to experiment with any British hardwoods? Like (since we're going by botanical names) Fagus sylvatica or Prunus avium? I would suggest some type of Oak, but that would probably be really heavy.

    How can you be doing away with the blackback? That's as unique to Chapman guitar as the infinity logo. That's actually what made me want to get one in the first place, especially on the swamp ash model. The body was like the negative image of the neck.

    walnut is great wood for guitars. I wonder why it's neglected - maybe it's not so common in USA. Traditional sting instruments have been made of walnut in almost any culture for ages.

    • @BigEdWo
      @BigEdWo 10 років тому

      gibson used walnut in the late 70's sometimes for the "the paul" and "les paul firebrand" models. these were kind of affordable guitars, but known to sound awesome.
      they were called the "ibanez killers".
      walnut is a great wood, as you say.

    • @KFieLdGaming
      @KFieLdGaming 10 років тому +1

      I always wondered the same thing. Theres tons of black walnut(which is BEAUTIFUL wood) and you typically find it on a things such as gun stocks for hunting rifles, etc...a lot of american made firearms use it. I would of loved to grab up one of these walnut ML1s but alas I was late to the party and they were gone quicker than shit.
