Great mines think alike!
😂
Saw your video yesterday. Crazy Neighbor is great companion.
I loved the trip you and CN took; you trudged up a mountain TWICE and slept in a cave on a cot, not a Subaru. No fancy food for you guys, you roughed it. Your video was authentic and adventuresome! Your video was real-just you and Crazy Neighbor. It’s why we all you so much!
My two go-to camping channels Mav and Steve Wallis. At least when it comes to less traditional camping. The other ones are -50°C winter tent ones 😂
Just finished watching your video Steve. Saw Mavs and thought the same thing. 😂
Imagine you spend a couple of hours hiking up to this abandoned mine and Mav comes driving out the entrance in a Subaru.
Imagine you walk in on Mav playing pickleball 😂
Bwahaaaahaaa hahaha I love this imagenary concept 🤣🤔

I am 73 ( from Az.). I may be the oldest follower. The reason I really enjoy this channel is that what Mav does now, I and a couple of my buddies use to do this all over Az in my 20s, 30s,and 40s but they didn't have the recording devices that they have now--cell phones. He keeps his channel clean and just about anyone can watch his videos. Very enjoyable.
Im actually 90
@@ezekialhernandez6213I'm 91
@@Giggawigga8313 I’m actually 103 years young!
@@Jerseywonder56 I'll be 110 on Thursday
@REDR93CK my grandma is 119 and she loves Mav 😂
90 percent of this video felt like the beginning of a horror film. If there was a weather warning, I don't know if I'd cross a low flooded road in the California desert. They're infamous for mud and rock slides over roads that trap people. Still, you're living the life, Mav. Keep on keepin' on.
And it turns out to bem more interesting when you see he's driving a subaru😂
Lighting a fire inside a mine seems like a terrible idea for every imaginable reason.
Yeah, not too stoked on seeing this in the Reward Mine...
@@jonerton67 he been doing a lot of dumb stuff recently :/
So I work in a mine . Fires are one of the most dangerous things that could happen even with proper ventilation. Also driving a gas vehicle underground is also terrible we only use diesel engines because the fumes aren’t as bad so please mav do your research
@@stlth3514 there's actually really good ventilation where he camped at. By the block wall it was like an AC unit blowing down into the mine the other weekend when i went. But agreed.
Can you name a few examples?@@korndud

Golden comment 😂
Now he need the minecraft music he all set lol
Yes!!!!! 19:26
I don't understand why you dont bring proper bowls or plates when your camping most of the time...u always forgot something you dont properly plan its quite irritating to watch tsk tsk
@@amiraa2875 it’s Mav. Sit back and enjoy
There's no way I would camp/sleep in a mine that deep inside, maybe the first 8 feet, but that's it. Good on you Mav, for conquering your fear. Being young has its advantages that's for sure.
Man, I was a hospital Paramedic for 38 years.= Those floating particulates.=If later on you get a sore throat. GET AN X-Ray!!!
I guess Mav's never heard of silicosis or emphysema. As well as carbon monoxide poisoning. Stupid is as stupid does.
Probably not something you think of in a one off instance, but never ever light a bonfire in a cave without an o2 meter. I wouldnt go in one without a meter regardless as methane and other gases can be lurking thatll make that cave a tomb.
Came here to say this. Super sketch!
First thing I thought of when I saw the dead bird... They use to use birds to find out if there was an issue with the air
Bump! I legitimately thought of this too
it is an awful example to set
Exactly
Geez, Mav! Between you and Alex and Steve and Crazy Neighbor, y'all have given my claustrophobia a run lately. But, thanks, because this is the only way I could do mine camping...through UA-cam!
Was thinking the exact same thing. May must be stay in a mine month or something.
Did Mav and Steve call each other? “Let’s both do terrifying mine-camping videos this week!”
Didn't see the Steve Wallis video, then I saw this one pop up. Thought it was a collaboration, so I had to go watch Steve first. Sadly, it was not😢
Me too! Just watched Steve and now watching Mav and couldn't figure out why I am all tense, then it hit me! LOL.
Who is Alex? I want more videos like this lol
I was on a cave trip 40 years ago with a group of 21 and the first five rushed ahead of the rest of us, we had no way of knowing the way out. There used to be a string line marking the route but that had broken at some stage and the cave structure was a granite hilltop with a creek that had flowed through it at different levels over a few millennia. We eventually made out way out after over five hours underground. Normally a group of that size would take about 90 minutes to pass through.
Some of us went back ten days later and replaced the string line.
Since then I've been in a couple of historic gold mines and I didn't like it one bit, having to get out into the open air as quickly as possible.
Claustrophobia is very real, folks.
Depending on what type of minerals are in the mine ore, a fire can be a very very very bad idea. Ventilation is key. Underground gold miner and safety trainer here. Mining for over 17 years. Building a fire at the base of the face and super heating the rock, then throwing water on it so it breaks is how mining used to be done. Never heard of that stew but you're Always supposed to leave a bite for the tommy knockers or they'll make trouble for you. You should invest in an O2 meter. That powdery dust is what we call bug dust.
Yeah was gonna say having the fire in the cave plus all that dust flying around can’t be good to breathe in lol surprised they weren’t wearing masks
I'm too claustrophobic for that but it's super cool watching you do it, Mav. At 67 I might be your oldest follower but you've got that ability to appeal to all ages I think. And as you'll find out some day, your body ages but your spirit of adventure, it never does!
Im a 52 year old woman and enjoy Mavs Vlogs also.
@Steve Cousins ~ I'm a 57-year-old Black woman from New York City. So, you're right Steve, Mav appeals to all across the board 🙂
I’m 57 too and my 27 year old son got me watching Mav! I look forward to his videos every week! Lol
I am 350 years old, Im a vampire transwoman ! APPEALS TO ALL
57 year old white guy… Found these videos after watching camping with Steve
You and Steve are video theme coordinating 😂
I thought this was another collab video at first lol
@@btappan88 IKR?!
@@peterjensen6844 we need another. Love the two of them together.
@@btappan88 Same! Of course given Steve and Mav are friends at least we know it’s not either of them stealing content/ideas from each other.
I think we need to see another Mav and Steve colab!!
Mines often have pockets of methane, it's a really really bad idea to build a fire in an abandoned mine, especially that far back.
Yeah not sure who's bright idea that was
Hey Mav, i was diagnosed with cancer June this year. Going through chemo fucking sucks but thank god you have lots of videos for me to binge. Love ya man
So to those who haven't before, I probably wouldn't pick your closest mine to sleep or hang out in.
All that dust he mentions could contain lead or toxic materials used during the mining process, and without a respirator , your kinda setting up for some interesting long term effects if ya use a fire along with it, which can puff up bits of debris and more dust.
Anyway, just giving heads up
If it had toxic materials wouldn't it be closed off? Like any other mine that's found to be dangerous...
He shouldn't have to worry about the lead, galena or lead sulfide isn't toxic. Only when it's in the metallic or oxide form is it a neurotoxin.
There are tons of mines & many that are accessible and not closed off. Esp in California
@@crazy808ish very trusting
It was a stupid idea.
Mav, as safety mine officer, never go into a mine with a gasoline vehicle, the vehicles that go under mine are diesel engines.. just to let you know…. Take care, and as always great video.
Crazy cause I never knew that profession existed 😳 cool to know though
is it because diesel is colder?
@@vipvip-tf9rw because it's not flammable. It's a combustible liquid.
Produces carbon monoxide, not suitable for confined spaces.
@@ub1243 I heard that heavier fuel, like diesel can put down a match fire
Hey my friends and Mav. It's you uncle D lol. I'm healing from having my gallbladder removed at the VA hospital. And I'm waiting to hear from my real-estate agent so I can buy my first home. You all most likely know mav. I just wanted to say. He's one heck of a good egg. I know I'm singing to the Choir. Any,hoo. I love the kid, he's gone out to camp and bring us along. He's gone on road trips and we've seen the sights. He's shared his ups and downs. Most importantly he's showed us how to love the life we all have. I'm just an old veteran and my IQ may be a tad up their. However I do know I have a lot to learn. And mav has helped me to learn a great many intriguing things. Well that's all. Just wanted to say hi to all of you and I love my life every day.
As a mother, that video made me a nervous wreck! Glad you both are ok and made it out safely! 😬😳
As a mother of Mav, multiply that times 1,000 😂
I think I’m going to have to watch it in small doses. Yikes
@@sherrylosjoos I can only imagine!
Been watching Mav videos for 4 years but never fails to amaze me, still enjoy it every time.
Hey Maverick, that was so much fun what an adventure I don’t think I could the spend the night in a cave or mine but that was awesome. Thanks for taking us along . Be safe out there.♥️✌️🙏🪵🔥🙂
Well, I have to say, I’ve never heard of drive-in mine camping. But okay, you made it. Thanks for the adventure Mav. 👍❤️
Mav hanging with Danny Duncan’s videographer, one step closer to that Danny Duncan collab
Awesome video Mav !! Thanks for taking us, what an experience that must have been. I believe that dust might be limestone, you keep us on our toes Mav. Looking forward to the next one. 😊🌟👊
Ngl, I'd dip if I found birds strung up like that. Especially one's that look kind of fresh.
I love how you always document your shopping trips so that you can justify it as a business expense :).
Also stock is much more flavorful than broth. Highly recommend buying stock over broth for essentially all applications.
Glad you weren't thinking about all the earthquakes that Southern Calif gets while you were underground. LOL
Yall think they cuddled when they slept? my bets on yes.
Aw I hope so. They’re both really sweet
California earthquakes and abandoned mineshafts. What could go wrong?😬
And lighting fires in it
MAV and STEVE definitely watch each others videos, whichs a good thing, theyre both true outdoor campers
I don't know why you would think a bean dinner would be a good idea....b4 u and ur friend spend the night in an enclosed tent 2gether...😂😂
It loosens the love tunnel😉
Just watched last night a Steve Wallis abandoned mine video, and today Mav made one too; my two favorite content creators! Edit, both brought company for their adventures...better safe than sorry when exploring abandoned mines!
Saw that too, a few days ago. Very wet journey, wasnt it?
@@sandras.3560 Indeed, both had a similar, uncomfortable situation. 👍
I just hope everyone picked up their trash and packed it out with them.
A video in my favorite place in the world. Nice!! The Eastern Sierras are where it's at. If you make it back there, please do some fishing. The whole area is absolutely breathtaking. The Lone Pine Market was nostalgic.
Mav and Steve mine camping. Great videos. As they both say don't do what I do.
Hopefully no other knuckleheads try this.
I kept realizing I was holding my breathe watching this with all that dust. 😀
I love when you have Adam on, he's a dope dude. Cool video Mav, very original. Much love from your friend and viewer, Talley!
I agree. Take 5s are great. Don't know that I'd want to camp in an abandoned mine though. Not in earthquake country. I want to be above ground for that event.
Imagine hiking all that way smelling bacon white bean soup in the air thinking you’re just so hungry you venture into the cave where the smell gets stronger and run into Mav cooking soup out the back of a Subaru. Souparu if you must
Mav dragging Alex along on another adventure! Epic!!
I watched Steve this week camp in an abandoned mine too! It was great!
That was insane! I don't think I could have done it. Fearful of it all coming down on me I think. Plus I would have been afraid that there were bats in there! Good job Mav!
By far the funniest Video you out out 😂😂😂😂 from almost blowing that lighter fluid up to you knocking your head on the car
I love that lifepod gun case safe at 11.29..Time
Another Sunday more adventures with MAV. Probably not a bright idea to light a fire inside a cave/mine.
That's awesome, Steve just did a mine video lol. 👍👍💪💪🙂🙂
You guys be careful that's pretty dangerous driving there and going into the mines!!
Extremely dangerous, how did they know it was going to hold a car
what a awesome video! Please do more videos like this or even explore/camping vids that would be sick.. much love homie
Mav really out here trying to become a found footage horror film
Broke back mountain, Mav style ! Lmao
Great job spotting on the trail up mav. From checking the water levels to helping your buddy steer in the right direction. Cool adventure as always. Keep trucking

Your "reward" for daring to stay the night in there was a great story to tell (With video). Good adventure guys. Lots of cool stuff to explore in those hills.

Mav, Seriously our whole family loves your videos (parents and kids). Bruh, Your language has not been bussin. Come on! Bring back filtered Mav.
Wild video, can't believe the subie made it💪. I can't do tight dark places like that, my anxiety level would go through the roof😱
Even old timer miners knew not to eat in the tunnels.
Did you and Steve both plan to do abandoned mine videos this week? lol
Thought the same thing lol
My thoughts too
And Mav and Becca both went to the same truck stop last week. 😮😁
I went to high school with Alex! No idea you even knew him that’s awesome, I know he’s affiliated with Danny Duncan so that’s dope
I see people in the comments mention they are probably the oldest viewer- not sure if my 5 year old son qualifies as the youngest but he sure enjoys this channel! It’s his “bedtime show” that he runs excited to go to bed so we can sit and cuddle and watch Mav. ❤
I hope this video served as a lesson to your son NOT to do what they did, lol
The bird hanging is a bad omen and usually consider to cause bad lucky if passed and also very risky to bring ur car into a mine but anyways all love mav great video and stay safe thanks for always bringing me entertainment and a sense of peace for a time being 💙
Right? Like wtf. And it was still "fresh" too. Like what type of energy was present in that cave? Smfh.
Bad omen as in? And also, How did that bird die?
It might be a bad omen, but they didn't die from inhaling the dust or CO2, and the mine didn't explode when they lit the fire, so
Alex and Mav the duo we needed
Whoop-de-doo for the Subaru! You are too young to remember that commercial...lol
Hope the oil pan is ok! Thanks for taking us on another cool adventure! - DD☮️
That was cool, I like how you went to test out how deep the water was then drove through it🤙
Reverse your cuts for the onion. If you start with the horizontal the onion will hold together much better 🔪
Steve - "Abandoned Mine Camping"
Mav - "Hold my pop"
Craziest adventures yet! Not many ppl would drive in an old mine.
I could not handle the deafening silence of a cave... I would make sure to either bring an industrial fan or have a white noise app on my phone. I need white noise to help me sleep XD
Mav always pushing the threshold. Always great variety of content let's gooooooo Mav
Alex gives me the most uncomfortable sketchy vibes and has me genuinely concerned for you being with him 😂
How come? He seems cute. Alex and Mav seem comfortable round eachother and I ship that
That doesn't look good at all for your lungs. Fun though😂🙌
There is a smiley face in the rock above the entrance of the cave. You and Steve have like minds, he just did an episode where he and crazy neighbor hiked up to an old mine and camped inside😉
Onion trick: do the inward slices first followed by the downward slices it's a bit more solid.
Inward slices are pointless. Think about it.
@Squirrel Covers Sir. Inward slices are integral to thisxwinning technique as they provide the X cutting axis.
It’s always a good day when Mav uploads.
Always an interesting video! Lol. Thanks for taking us along Mav.
Dude that is crazy down that mine shaft. Great to see you here in Cali Maverick
Shoutout Mav, out here huffin lead dust and sleepin in creepy mines with hanging dead birds for our entertainment.

I really dig the car , your fire starting technique needs work lol 😂
Great job making new content! I look forward to Sundays now.
I was happy when you drove back out into the daylight. I don’t think I could have done that.

Love the content man! Keep striving! Appreciated.
Interesting video cool to see :D good to see some friends coming along in the videos!

Man the bottom of that car was so close to getting ripped up 😂👍
Lol you're absolutely correct Mav. Never start a fire in a mine unless you absolutely know what kind it is. Otherwise you could have a situation like Centralia Pennsylvania 😢
Scary but interesting driving into a mine to camp , I couldnt do it myself being claustraphobic also a fear that an area would collapse. Yikes . you to are brave soles . Steve would be proud of you both lol .
