So. This is amazingly authentic. The singer doing verse to verse and the crowd joining in at the lowlands? That's how it's supposed to be. The lead singer has an amazing voice, it works obviously with the atmosphere and he just has the vocals of a shanty leader. More so, I'd like to know his name and see if there is more to him. I genuinely find his voice amazing and, yeah, this needs sharing. I mean, one comment in 11 months as of me typing this in 2020? This deserves far more recognition and acknowledgment.
Thank you for your generous comment. We find the same to be true for all traditional songs, they are supposed to be sung as a communal group rather than as a concert performance of one singer and everyone else just listening. Ben is a local actor, so he has a dramatic flair and excellent projection. I hope you enjoy perusing more songs on our channel, we have many.
@@Saltydogshanty thank you for replying and also providing a wonderful rendition. More than ever these days it's always a blessing to see so many people coming together and not having disputes, just, singing and laughing as one. I hope all of you stay safe and hopefully one day I'll find y'all and join in myself in person
I dreamed a dream the other night Lowlands, lowlands away me John My love she came, dressed all in white Lowlands away I dreamed my love came in my sleep Lowlands, lowlands away me John Her cheeks were wet, her eyes did weep Lowlands away She came to me at my bedside Lowlands, lowlands away me John All dressed in white, like some fair bride Lowlands away And bravely in her bossom fair Lowlands, lowlands away me John Her red, red rose, my love did wear Lowlands away She made no sound, no word she said Lowlands, lowlands away me John And then I knew my love was dead Lowlands away Then I awoke to hear the cry Lowlands, lowlands away me John Oh watch on deck Oh watch, ahoy Lowlands away Lowlands away
Thank you for listening! Oh how we remember having such a blast every month... unfortunately unable to do so for almost two years. Please enjoy perusing our channel and find some more great songs to sing along to.
Not sure offhand, but maybe there is an Irish themed bar along the San Antonio Riverwalk, or in Austin? Galveston and Corpus Christie have some historic ships as museums, so there might be people there who know and enjoy historic sailing music. Good luck!
We sing in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. You can watch the intro video at the top for more details. Unfortunately the pandemic has prevented us from gathering since March. Thank you for listening, and I hope you will find many more pub songs on our channel and sing along.
Edward Kenway. I miss that bastard, aye. 🥲
Why this shanty always makes me cry , it is a beautiful shanty

that guy can really sing!
I dreamed a dream the other night
Lowlands, lowlands away me John
My love she came, dressed all in white
Lowlands away
I dreamed my love came in my sleep
Lowlands, lowlands away me John
Her cheeks were wet, her eyes did weep
Lowlands away
She came to me at my bedside
Lowlands, lowlands away me John
All dressed in white, like some fair bride
Lowlands away
And bravely in her bossom fair
Lowlands, lowlands away me John
Her red, red rose, my love did wear
Lowlands away
She made no sound, no word she said
Lowlands, lowlands away me John
And then I knew my love was dead
Lowlands away
Then I awoke to hear the cry
Lowlands, lowlands away me John
Oh watch on deck
Oh watch, ahoy
Lowlands away
Lowlands away
