So TRUE there guy... Just Keep Calm n Figure out What's Next! Always gotta adapt n keep moving forward otherwise like u said Now u In Trouble! LOVE IT!!!!
Thanks for leaving in your boat launch debacle, it shows that you are just one of us guys. Boat launch tip, longer rope with a carabiner hooked to one of your tie down hooks in the bed of you truck. Awesome perch bite, and catching that pike with your stolen jig, priceless.
I would have dropped my draws immediately to get the boat. I don't fear cold water as much as loss of a boat. Great fishing day anyway. I had one day a long time ago fishing for perch with 2pound test ultra light diawa throwing a 16th ounce black beetle no spinner and if they were longer than my foot size 10.5 to size 11 I kept them. Beautiful day early June in Minnesota, no electronics, found a spot with several schools of 30 plus perch came swimming all around the boat. I must have caught close to two hundred that morning and kept forty. Man that was about as much fun as I ever had. The perch you caught, reminded of that. thanks for the video.
Oh man! I thought only my dad and I would be able to almost lose a boat like that! So glad you kept that in! 😂😂 Good recovery and glad to see you keep your cool and get you boat back!
Jumbo Perch is a great Silver medel to Walleyes!!! 👍 Best video I have ever seen, showing the electronic in Reel time! Thanks brother, you got a new subscriber!!!
Finger on the line is an old school trick. That's what us glass rod users do for sensitivity. That technique has nearly died because of the majority switching to graphite rods but still works! Cheers 🍻🥃🎣
Clayton I've missed you! Demolition derby season is officially over and it's time to get back on the fish!! Pumped for ice fishing as I'm set up with my permanent fish house and now I've also landed a boat for next season (needs some major TLC) but watching your videos gets me pumped for fishing!! Love watching you and keep up the good content!!
good job Clayton 👍... love the video.. by the way that does happen, rope doesn't stay hooked, myself the wind was not in my favor I ended up swimming for it, what a beautiful spring day for a swim ber... keep up the great videos...
I launch using an Ulterra and remote pretty frequently. Hasn't happened yet, but I know the day is coming when I forget to plug the motor in or turn it on, and a situation like this will come up! Keep the videos coming bud this is great, and hope you are well!
Did something similar with my new-to-me boat last year early April. Took the daughters with me to our nearest lake and the painter unclipped from the bow-eye. I had to wade in up to my waist to retrieve it. Still went fishing, and caught a 4 lb lake trout on my ultralight setup when we were targetting perch.
What chart speed do you use when spot locked for your side imaging? I only use DI when spot locked because I can never find a chart speed to keep showing fish.
I thought when you were launching you got an ulterex… my buddy did the same thing and had to swim out to his boat… great video… can’t wait for hardwater season. Cheers
Catching jumbo perch while walleye fishing is not "Worst Case Ontario" 😂. I am hardcore multispecies but have a soft spot for perch. They are the fish I learned to catch as a kid. Great video Clayton! PS the panic speech is spot on! It is the worst thing you can do, cant think clearly if you are panicking.
Hey Clayton throw that minnow head away and use the tail end hang jig horizontally and carefully thread the hook thru the body and out the top of the tail squish it up to the jig head but keeper on the down low I hear their sticking lead in the belly’s of walleye to win tournaments that’s like an old episode of beachcombers Relic did the same thing. Great vid beautiful perch friend keep em coming
Clayton , you got a spare set of horseshoes? If that happened to me, the wind would for sure would be blowing the other way . I would have cast my heaviest rod at it and snagged it . Maybe 😂 There's no way I would have let them perch go , they are the best .
Ha Ha I did that the other day. No idea how the rope slipped off......I paniced though and went knee deep in my shoes and pants to grab it. I love a good perch bite some days. I ended up making some 1/4oz #4 and #6 hooks just for those occasions. Another killer video bud.
At the end of this month after Thanksgiving or just around Thanksgiving Red Lake is going to have a good layer of ice on it and and people from around Minnesota and around other states come up here and it can be a circus out there, I have been watching your show for the last couple years, not religiously but a lot and I was wondering if you ever hit Red Lake upper Minnesota.
Like playing a country song backwards, get your dog back, get your boat back, get your jig back. OK No dogs lost on this video. Nice fishing change of pace.

Things happen right? I am not sure why I was recording my launch that day, but I did and I was well... I guess it's going in the video haha...
You are amazing and I love all the tips and tricks you teach us
Appreciate the kind words!
I can’t get over your boat that is such a sweet setup tiller life!! Can’t wait for your lake trout ice season this year!!
I am very luck to have a dialed boat.

That's the reason I load my rods in after my boat is tied off. Glad you got it back without too much hassle!
Oh man!! I wanted a pike rod in my truck so bad!!
I bet! Thankfully there wasn't anyone at the put in to tell you how you could have done it better.
Also, I love how you adapt based on the bite. Most of us would keep the hammer down on walleye and maybe miss out on those jumbos!
I had to switch over for sure!
Them Jumbos are fun! Tasty too.
Sure were!
Been waiting for a perch video. Recatching that pike was awesome. Can't wait for the underwater footage.
YES! Love underwater!
Let’s gooo can’t wait for ice season!
Won’t be long!!
Me too! Ready too!
Can’t believe that pike bit again that’s awesome!
Right?
Perch! Love it.......Something about panfish I can never describe....well done!
Cheers!
Haha that was great, i am glad i am not the only one that has messed up at the launch, mostly forgetting to put in the plug lol , great video
HAH!! That happens too!
YESS!! Stripy ones need love too haha!
Was a fun afternoon!!
Can't wait for a CCC this winter! So tasty!
Another crazy great video Clayton!!!!!👍
Cheers little buddy!
I really like the jigging shad rap for perch. Typically the number five, although I will use the number two sometimes as well. DEADLY.
I was thinking at one point of putting on my smaller Hyper Rattles. Cheers!
I'd really love to see you target some big perch again. Great video!
Love the jumbo perch videos. Ready to throw some on the ice
Hallelujah profesor Clayton. Greetings from Calgary from a huge fan of you.
Cheers!
Oh man! I thought only my dad and I would be able to almost lose a boat like that! So glad you kept that in! 😂😂 Good recovery and glad to see you keep your cool and get you boat back!
Always keep your cool :)
I would love to get into some perch action like that... they're soooo tasty!!
Was a fun day! I did keep some to eat too!
@@ClaytonSchickOutdoors No doubt! With slabs like that I'd be keeping a few too!
That's some really nice perch, I bet they would have tasted good too.
They did :) I kept some!
YOUR THE BEST ! And your my favorite fishing UA-camr . Your content and quality is always 10/10 love you Clayton !!!
Appreciate the kind words!
Haven't been able to get out. Covid 😞 has me beached. Hoping to get out tomorrow. Been a rough 6 days. Thanks for the slamfest Clayton.
Sorry to hear that man!!
"In worse case Ontario", Ricky, classic. you're a cool cucumber Clayton Schick. Thanks for the great content!
HAH :)
If i dont stop watching you fish, i'll over excite myself for ice fishing this year lol
Won't be long!
Great video. Loved the TPB reference! 😂😂
Such a good show :)
Jumbo Perch is a great Silver medel to Walleyes!!! 👍 Best video I have ever seen, showing the electronic in Reel time! Thanks brother, you got a new subscriber!!!
I agree :) Thanks for watching, you will see most of my videos have the Live camera going at the same time :)
Wasn't a 5 star start to the day, but those fish certainly were a 5 star meal
Sure wasn’t a hot start!
Finger on the line is an old school trick. That's what us glass rod users do for sensitivity. That technique has nearly died because of the majority switching to graphite rods but still works! Cheers 🍻🥃🎣
Sure does work still! :)
Love your videos Clay.
Hell of a Perch day. 👍👍👍👍
Thank you for watching!
id give a years salary to go fishing with Clayton Schick.
Big Heart! Wish I could fish with everyone!
That was a great day for sure.
Only a Canadian northern pike would be nice enough to give Clayton's jig back after breaking him off.
HAH!! Right?
GET THIS MAN TO 💯!!!
Yes!!! Hope to this winter!!
LMAO Worst case Ontario. I use that one all the time. Such a classic show, and it's Canada's own!
I love a good day of perch fishing.
Best show :)

All that good eating!!!!

When you said WORST CASE ONTARIO I died laughing, I say that all the time. Trailer park boys are the best haha
So funny!! Love Rickyisms
Loved how you got your jig back bud. Cheers
I laughed for sure :)
Yes I would love to see some ice fishing in that lake with the camera.
Yes!!
Awesome beatdown on them perch 🐠!!
Now if you only had some of Jimmy’s Perch Powder handy you could have had a great fish fry…….🐠 🍳🔥
I DO! :)
That’s a funny start to your video. I’m glad that you can live up to your mistakes. There’s worse things in life by far. Awesome video
It happens for sure!
Rule # 1 Clayton… DON’T PANIC

Oh man! Glad you made out ok!
I once caught a decent rainbow trout that broke me off a half-hour before. It's pretty cool when it happens
Amazing!!
You need the auto deploy trolling motor. And when you get one send your old one this way 😅
HAH! Nah, those things are junk... I have seen so many quit...
Love perch man oh man wish I could get some like that
They were big!
I love this guy 😅
I havent caught a perch on last mountain for years, lake of the prairies seems to have great fishing, better then last mountain i think by the looks.
I like both lakes :)
ice fishing vibes

Great to hear from you Lake Trout Slayer!!

Was using 7 this day I believe.
Launching a boat without a dock isn’t rocket appliances
Hahaha!!! Yes!!!
Launched the boat exactly like that a few weeks ago. Lucky someone was taking off and stopped to retrieve it for me! SMRT me.
So lucky!
I saw this and thought you were joking around and going to use the i-pilot on the trolling motor to bring the boat back in... that's a big whoops lol
hah! ya WHOOPS!
Handled that well sir .
:) Cheers!
your video are the best thank you
Thank you for watching them!
I usually clip my rope to my winch .
I once clipped both ends of the rope to my boat and launched it. It was summer so I got to swim.😜😜
Way to get that jig back! That's happened to me before but through the ice. Pesky pike!
Silly Pike!
Clayton do you ever cast a jig/minnow? Or mostly vertically jig it?
I thought when you were launching you got an ulterex… my buddy did the same thing and had to swim out to his boat… great video… can’t wait for hardwater season. Cheers
The worst! Ice will be soon!

I was doing that with the tail section as well! :) Was using the whole minnow. Lead for the win right? :)
I guess you could keep a spare heaving line in the truck???
Clayton , you got a spare set of horseshoes? If that happened to me, the wind would for sure would be blowing the other way . I would have cast my heaviest rod at it and snagged it . Maybe 😂 There's no way I would have let them perch go , they are the best .
I kept 4 of them to eat :)
@@ClaytonSchickOutdoors At a boy !
Hey Clayton great video as always. Wondering what unit your running for the majority of the video?
This one was a Humminbird Apex (Mega Live)
Yum....perch good eating
I agree!
We had a finicky bite this weekend in West Central sask. Couldn't even feel the bites hardly.
My whole fall bite hasn’t been very good really…
Have your fish been extra chunky? Ours we as fat as I've ever seen them.
Ha Ha I did that the other day. No idea how the rope slipped off......I paniced though and went knee deep in my shoes and pants to grab it. I love a good perch bite some days. I ended up making some 1/4oz #4 and #6 hooks just for those occasions. Another killer video bud.
Mine floated off for sure after watching :) Cheers my friend!
I'm not one to say etodisoe lol. Another great vid Clayton.
HAH! Yes!
That was an amazing video
Appreciate you watching!
I've only been able to stumble upon perch while walleye fishing but whenever I go out to try to target perch I get skunked
I would like to target them more for sure!

I have never hit red lake. maybe one day! I like to stay away from the circus though :)
Clayton next time just take me with you and I'll help!
We’ve all lost or boat from time to time!
Is that a hummingbird graph?
Like playing a country song backwards, get your dog back, get your boat back, get your jig back. OK No dogs lost on this video. Nice fishing change of pace.
HAH!! Right?
Nice Vid Man, Beauty Perch! New Sub from Indiana.
Appreciate you watching! Cheers!
I’ve only lost my boat once and it’s was rough lol
haha It happens!
What does a 12" perch weigh roughly ?
Honestly, I could not eve guess? Maybe like 1.5lbs?
So ready for early ice! Gotta wait for hunting first!
I wish I could hunt more! One day I will be able to get back into it hardcore
@@ClaytonSchickOutdoors would love to see your videos including hunting!
We need a new top 5 lures of ice fishing 22-23 this year, alot of new gear available this year
Agreed!
Can you tell us what lake you're fishing and where? I understand if not. If you did I missed it.
I can't for this one, but there are some hints if you look at the bridge :)
Hello Clayton!
Remote control trolling motor !
If your konders rock guard is the same as mine? It has a metal eyelet at the back. Could you clip your rope to it when you back down….. just an idea
That is a pretty good idea right there!! I would need a bit longer rope. But I do like that idea
👍👍🎣👊
You're a tough old Canadian boy, quick skinny dip and you'd been fishing
Crossed my mind :)
Do a $200 fish finder challenge
No.

You should try fishing at fishing lake there are lots of walleye try just anything they will eat it trust me it’s bye foam lake sask
I was thinking of going there one day!
would have been great content if you had another rod in truck and casted and reeled it in.
Right? I was mad I didn't have anything in my truck!!
