Love those old, chunky toggle switches.
Me too! Everything today is push button which doesn't last.
Clear hood= glass hood
Honestly I didn't think the vacuum former was going to be very useful, until I saw you make Mystery Machine ice cubes and G Wagon chocolates. Those are so cool!
..I enjoyed the gnaw marks on the finished chocolate there at the end..great video..
lol. Oddly enough I don't like chocolate and spit it out.
Well bro, that piece of chocolate earned a like, well deserved.
Sweet idea. 🍫+🚗
Ha! Thank you!
Very smart buy !!!! This is a BADASS UPGRADE...
Another technique to keep in mind. I see use in making molds to cast many different parts.
awesome video, never thought of a chocolate hot wheel or matchbox car and clear parts would be awesome on some builds, so many possibilities
For a while every gun guy was trying to make his own kydex holster. You could build a very sturdy base or body parts out of kydex. Thanks for the idea!
Very true! Thank you for watching!
So you're a plumber. Kool!
Nope!
Loving all the new idea's, thank you for sharing.
Does anyone remember the old Mattel toy called a Vac-u-form? I know my brother had one....that melted small plastic cylinders to make toy soldiers. My Mom hated the thing because of the small (which we liked, BTW)....and because one time we got melted plastic on a bedspread. Wasn’t as messy as the Gobbledegook stuff from another Mattel toy, though! Love the videos!
Seems to me back the 60’s Vac U Form was forced to stop production. Don’t remember why!
Looks like you were having fun there ☺...I think I would have had a ball using that vacuum press there...cool video
Ice cubes and popsicles fucking awesome
I don't know how well it would work but I've seen similar methods for making knife sheaths out of kydex. Some of the thinner kydex material might be good for making a base where the detail isn't as important.
Lol, new toy. The chocolate and ice cube ideas are fun.
Epic! Endless possibilities..
for any food use I would use those molds to make negatives then cast food grade silicone onto the negatives
That looks like a lotta fun. I might have to buy one.
Molds for ice cubes & candy bars 👍👍
Love the video mainly the chocolate car!!!
i like the chocolate bar. my son would love that
Why did you do this to my heart
The one that lives in my stomach
I wonder if you could find a vaccum former big enough to do this for 1/24 scale or over castings.
You could certainly make one.
@@WheelsNThangs Ok because I have a Ford Crown Victoria I want to make molds out of.
You can find big enought to use on real cars.
Awesome
Model builders have always been on the hunt for vacuum formers. Mattel actually made one, in the 70’s.
Oh wow, I never knew that! I have a ton of models but I'm saving those for retirement. Only 24 years or so to go!
Another fantastic video from you.
Thank you!
@@WheelsNThangs no problem 😁
cool video! love the chocolate cars
Get a cheap infra red gun so you don’t have to touch the plastic at all. As soon as it hits the right temp slam it down!
This is actually really interesting! Cool :)
slot car bodies....nice
That swift motion at 3:29...
Hehe..
You should do a 1969 Mustang Mach 1..... Thatd be sweet.
Nick Thompson ...I destroyed a mustang mach I once because it mached me.
Very cool.
For resin casting using the diecast to make a starting mold for an H.O. slotcar, I have found the bleaching tray material is much better for details than the stiffer plastic. 0.20 I have found is better. Filling the car with modeling clay and recessing the clay in the glass areas gets you a better result. It is tedious though cutting out the individual pieces. I haven't tried putting the clay on the other side, the outside, it might work better. You do want a smooth finish. I would think you would get the tape texture transfer to the plastic using the tape.
Hmm.. Often they use splint material for bleaching trays also but all the bleaching tray material I have on hand is .040 and it didn't really work well. The Splint material is .020 as well and isn't really all that stiff. It can be folded a decent amount without creasing. I thought of the modeling clay on the outside, I think it would have worked really well. The tape actually worked decent on the sides where the tape didn't have a fold in them. The one side I obviously missed the mark :) Thank you for the awesome tips!
That’s cool!
thats lots of fun
Still looking for another way to cast. Can't get access to this thing and can't find silicone molds to buy. Anyone have suggestion to make molds for parts? (with tutorial if possible)
Excelent idea
cool
neat , thanx
Nice! 👍🔥
I would use this to make duplicate windows.
I'd like to see windows made from this, say your doing a restoration on a car and ir doesnt have a window or accidentally break it, could you remake a window using this method?
Sure
Sounds like that motor has seriously worn brushes.
Cool ..another sweet vid.. big LIKE!!! ;) :)
Thank you!
Where do you get your wheels and other parts?
eBay or redlineshop.com
Yummy Mercedes 😁👍
you're crazy that's what I like.
Ha!
Ive seen someone in my facebook ggroup use what i think was styrene to make a tilt front piece for a gasser build he made looked awesome made try that in a video since you have the gasser base
I'll have to check that out. That does sound awesome!
@@WheelsNThangs cool
You should make a clear plastic complete car.
Is that machine from the '50s or '60s?
I believe this one is from the 70's but it didn't change for some time. I know the 60's were identical, not sure about the 50's.
Check out the one review for the material on Amazon, classic.
Jake Richardson lol. Looks like someone didn’t know to take off the film.
Make reproduction windows for the hot wheels
Can you make mirco rc truck
Bodies
Well alright, spare parts maker
Well not exactly, but this might be a quicker solution for replacement glass instead of ordering one
True
so that's how they make those packaging where the plastic kinda wraps around the toy.
sean choy Yeah but probably a 100 times larger!
Heart please
Or make bodies for HO scale slot cars!
all you need to do that is Heavy Aluminum Foil like you use in the Kitchen. Mold it over the car body. There you go we did this back in the 70s.
Wow! It's whisper quiet.
WHAT?
I SAID ITS WHISPER oh never mind.
Hehe
Make an entire car out of clear plastic.
Make a complete replica.
Free 69
my first thought was blister packs thinking out of the box. but there may be a lawsuit involved there 😂😂
thanks again. love the vids.
😀👍
So I can make a mold of a wheel and fill it with resin to make spare wheels
I suppose you could!
Pretty much
I want one! But I would end up vacuum forming everything I own that could fit in it. 😁
Now you can make tiny lightweight rc cars.
Make a chocolate hot wheels car
you could make molds for missing parts (if you have at least one of the missing hoods, interiors, windshields, etc, ) Reproduction red line parts would be a hot ticket item ! $$$
The vacuum former is cool! I like the clear car covers! Great upload! So many idea's now! MIND BLOWN!..😮LOL!👊✌
I wonder if you could make protecto packs?
Nice chocolate idea :p
Great process! I look forward to seeing you do other cool things too!
That thing is bad ass
Old school slot car bodies, that’s what I would make.
I’m trying now to make replica windshields with my vacuum former. I’d love to see a video on replicating a windscreen by using the original windshield as the form. I’m trying to go over the original windshield to get a clear version but I’m having some trouble
I'll try to make one.
I think i would put the car up there just before pulling it down
It doesn’t really matter the bottom plate doesn’t get hot.
That is a nice-looking machine. The one selling now are pretty cheaply-made. Where did you get yours? Manufacturer?
I work in the dental field, one of my techs had this in his garage. We purchase direct from the manufactures but I have no clue on this one, it's older than me!
is there possibly a bigger size that could be used for molding 1/32 scale?
Sure but probably not much larger.
We had these in middle school shop class only the vacuum tray was about 20” x 20”.
Mogga mogga Moo Moo machine
pretty cool video man!
You could take out just the clear part and vac form that. Damn good way to replace the tinted hot wheels clear parts
I really like the idea of creating Gasser Chassis. Are we going to see more gasser builds?
Mmmmmmm, toggle switches.....
That kid would be happy with these. He wouldn't know anything different.
That is just awesome , you could vacuum form your pet mouse or spider 😄
Beautiful!
Thank you!
That's awesome.
That is so cool. Thanks for making this video!
yes sweet idea you chocolate-genius! ;)
Chocolate hot wheels 😄👍🏽
Looks like fun
It would be even better if I liked chocolate :)
I just bought this machine and the plastic you linked. I am excited to experiment with it. Thank you for posting this as I didn't know they exist! I paid $24 on eBay for the identical machine.
My first project is I have a spare set of foglights for my car since a rock just broke one and I had to buy another pair. I'm going to cut the lens off one and use it as a mold to make hard plastic snap on covers to protect the new lights from another stone.
Thanks again.
Awesome! Let me know how it turns out. I haven’t used it much recently but it’s nice to have!
Fantastic, awesome.
His voice is lit 🤘🔥💯
fun!
Nice video, thanks!
In the 50s and, maybe, 60s there was a toy that was a couple basic car chasis, some body molds, and sheets of various colored plastic--probably styrene. And a much less robust version of a vacuum former. The idea being that the kid could make their own Matchbox like car to play with. Not anywhere as sturdy as the real thing and I don't remember that they rolled very well either.
Hmm. I'll have to search for some info on those. Toys in the 50's and 60' are so much cooler than what's out today!
@@WheelsNThangs , not sure if this is the exact one I had as a kid but it seems pretty similar: ua-cam.com/video/fjwLYscewak/v-deo.html
I had a thought. If you vacuuformed the outside of the body, left the flashing on, and drilled tiny holes in the windshield area to avoid trapping air it should do a much nicer job of making accurate windshields than using tape on the outside. I would make an open box base to support the lip of the flashing to keep it from moving while vacuuforming as well.
Great idea!
@@WheelsNThangs I would let the plastic get good and saggy before trying to make the actual windshield to make sure it would be pliable enough under vacuum to form the tight corners.
I mean you could to that with the real sixbysix but it would hurt really bad
:)
Thats a pretty cool machine. I got this stuff called blue stuff. Have not used it yet. But you should check it out. Blue stuff.
I've actually messed with that a bit but never with Hot Wheels.
@@WheelsNThangs im planning on using it this weekend. Ill make some fender flares. I just got to find miliput. Its somewhere.
