VIP BUS from CHIANG MAI to CHIANG RAI + FIRST IMPRESSIONS! 🇹🇭 Thailand Travel Vlog

- In today's Thailand travel vlog, we take the VIP bus to Chiang Rai after spending five wonderful weeks in Chiang Mai.
We started the day by catching a songthaew and planned to make one last trip to Central Festival Mall, but after getting stuck in traffic, we headed straight to Bus Terminal 3 instead. We spent a few minutes window shopping before devouring a bowl of yellow noodle soup and hopping on the VIP bus heading from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai.
After arriving in Chiang Rai, we walked to Spinomad Hostel and settled in before heading back out to explore the city. The Saturday Night Market was closed, so we made our way to the Chiang Rai Night Bazaar before stopping at an Indian restaurant near our hotel and calling it an early night.

You remind me when I work in Chiang Mai about 15 years ago. I was always go to Chiang Rai by this type of bus.
Yea! It was quite nice and not very expensive! We would absolutely recommend taking this bus to anyone going between the two! 😊

I recommend Khao Soi Wichittra. Chiang Rai's most delicious Khao Soi If you like tea, Choui Fong Tea Plantation is highly recommended. It takes about half an hour from Chiang Rai. Most importantly, during your stay in Chiang Rai, you should rent a motorcycle to travel to various places easily and cheaply. Chiang Rai is not only beautiful in the city. Chiang Rai's nature tourism is amazing. I'm Thai and Chiang Rai is my favorite province.

Really found your video compelling. I viewed it because I am editing one myself on Chiang Rai and Chaing Mai (together) and I am looking for videos to give me ideas to pull the thread on. Yep the buses have changed a lot today--great to see. Not sure if you saw the Silver temple in ChiangRai Wat Huay Pla Kang: Goddess of Mercy--a must if you come to ChiangRai--itll blow your lights out???. A must to see & for those tourists heading there try Chian Guest House---been a round many years !!!

I live there off an on for about 10 years,there is also a night life area w/ some Beer bars ,massage parlors and girls are available for the Monger's.
We saw the bar area, we played Jenga and connect 4 at this place called Cat Bar there. The lady who ran it was so nice.

Hi both,it’s John the pensioner from England,doing the trip from Bangkok to chiang rai by train,however doing the exact green bus journey from chiang mai to chiang rai next month.we prefer chiang rai as opposed to chiang mai(less commercialised)don’t forget the hourly’clock tower’ show I think it’s 7/8/9pm it only lasts a few minutes but worth seeing!we have seen the white temple(which is pretty spectacular)looking forward to the blue temple which was not built when we was there.another one to consider wat Huay pla kang(large pagoda)have fun & stay safe!

We did explore the White and Blue temple, that video should be out soon! We like both Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, but I think we preferred Chiang Mai just because there are so many more food options! 😊 Safe travels on your way here and throughout! We did see the clock tower, it just didn’t make it into a vlog.
I’m afraid the fruit you’re looking for isn’t in season yet. Normally they(Mayong-chit)are on the market in February to March, it may be difficult to find them now. Actually it’s just a month ahead, hopefully you’ll be still in Thailand. Really enjoyed watching your videos. Have a wonderful time🙏🏼❤️

I think it would depend on what you wanted to see specifically. If you’re a temple buff, taking a trip to see the white and blue temples in Chiang Rai is a must. But personally, I feel like Chiang Mai would be my bet. 👌
@@mikeandashley I'm actually more interested in the cultural aspect. But what makes you more inclined towards Chiang Mai?
Chiang Mai just feels like it has a little bit more to do on the daily. So since we spend a bit longer in a place than your average traveler, it just has a little bit more for us. For 3 days, either place will have your schedule full.
I believe, unless you're really interested in the Golden Triangle (Laos, Myanmar and Thailand borders all converging on the Mekong) that there also may be a bit more cultural things to do in Chiang Mai. While the White and Blue temples are some of the most impressive we've seen, they are more like art exhibits than cultural centers. While Chiang Mai has so many incredible temples in the province that hold some ancient and cultural significance.
Also the food scene is incredible in Chiang Mai. BUT I will also say that the best pad kra pow we've ever had was from a place called "Pad Thai" in Mueng Chiang Rai.

The fruit, mayong chit, is not in season now! By the way, Chiang Rai is over 700 years old.
That explains why we couldn’t find it! I think we had the description a bit off too! We’re getting close to season for it though, so we’re excited! 😊 And 700 years old is crazy! 🤯
Chiangrai, was once an independent kingdom, for northern Thailand. They had their own kings and was taken over by the kingdom of Chiangmai, their family ‘ s linage still exist today.

😂 the VIP bus was a dollar more than the regular bus, and we wanted to see what it was like. The whole point of travel vlogging is documenting your experience during travel… and that’s what we did. We try to as best as possible. The songthaew driver originally wanted 200 baht to take us from Old City to Bus Terminal 3. We asked for a lower price and he agreed to 150 baht. Was this too much?! Thanks for the tips! ✌️😊
ต้องดูจุดเริ่มต้นว่าเริ่มจากตรงไหน คือเมืองเชียงใหม่เขามีอยู่2ฝั่ง หมายถึงฝั่งแม่น้ำปิง ถ้าเราอยู่ฝั่งหนึ่งแล้วข้ามไปอีกฝั่งหนึ่งอัตราค่ารถจะแพงขึ้น ในฐานะคนเชียงใหม่ต้องดูระยะทางก่อนถึงจะต่อรองราคาเขาได้..บางสถานที่ก็ไปง่าย บางสถานที่ก็ไปยาก อย่างเซ็นทรัลเฟสฯนี้ไปยากหน่อย เพราะอยู่ถนนซุปเปอร์ไฮเวย์รอบนอก แต่ดีแล้วตรงที่คุณต่อรองราคาเป็น ถ้าเขาเรียกค่ารถคนละ150 แพงไป ถ้า2คน150ก็OK.
Ok, that’s good to know. It was 150 baht for both of us from the west side of Old City to Central Festival. This makes me feel better! 😊
