I just discovered this channel (via UA-cam, not TikTok - thought I'd mention it in case you're interested in figures, etc.)! I've been fascinated by the Arctic since a very young age and visiting Svalbard has been on my bucket list for YEARS. While with the whole coronavirus thing international travel seems off the cards for at least the next few months (if we're lucky!), I'm so happy I can experience a new place vicariously through your vlogs. To enjoy winter, you have to use it! If you do activites connected to winter like Skiing, Snowmobiling, icefishing, and so on, you will probably love winter.

In order to travel to Svalbard, you must go through Norway. Norway has completely closed its borders to most countries.

I just wanted to ask you a couple questions, if you don't mind. As I come from Swedish Heritage, do you make Glough? I am pretty sure that I have the spelling incorrect. My grandparents opened a Swedish Bakery in Worcester, MA, Greenwood Village. It was called Svea Bakery. My mother passed down many traditions. Like, making cookies. We had many favorites. Ice Box, Snow Balls, Pepa cocka, Tender Cookies, Almond Bread. There are way too many to mention. Do recall any of these types of cookies?

Love this channel. We have so many small towns around where I live, that do not have fancy malls like yours way up in the arctic circle. My big question is, what do you all do for a living up there? Is it all tourist related or are there other industries?

How do you deal with the night? Where I live, daylight this time of year lasts 8-10 hours, and I definitely notice a difference in my mental health.

All my poor dogs would freeze, even my German Shepherd isn’t wooly enough to stand those temperatures. He stays in his heated dog house when it’s in the 30’s here! He won’t even stick his head out of the dog door of his house! 😂

I live in Hokkaido and it gets cold here too. Not as cold as in Svalbard, but pretty cold. I guess I'll stop complaining about how cold it is here. I enjoy going for walks. I just "zone out" and admire clouds in the sky. You will have to tell us some "Grim's fairy tales."

@@CeciliaBlomdahl Hokkaido is the northernmost island of Japan. We have hardly had a snowflake this fall and winter. Very strange.
I'm currently working on a painting a polar bear, and this is exactly the content I want to watch right now to make me think of the colder regions of the world 😊

I work on an outdoor dock. We recently got heat. It is usually between 40-50 degrees F. Before the heat I dressed like your dog walk for work. I still wear 3 layers, but they are lighter and more comfortable.

Have you ever encountered a bear on a walk? If you do do you actually shoot at the bear or just shoot to scare it away?
There is fairly far between each polar-bear, some times they are scared away from settlements with helicopter. The few times bears come in close encounters with people it usually makes it to the news on the mainland.

Are the slugs to kill or detour?? I dont know if this is a stupid question or not?are the bears still very healthy there? Do they have a hard time finding food?
Just fascinated about what is happening with the bears..
We only shoot if its to save our own lives. We have flare guns and such as well with us to scare one off if we would ever run into one. It rarely happens though 😊

That was really kool your shopping center ( mini Mall ) is well organized and it has a salon too & they could have a CBD shop !!! @Oshi Baby People in Sweden have and watch a lot of british and american telly which is subtitled in Swedish. Also learn it in school.
I grew up for a few years in Ireland when I was younger, that gave me fluent english! :)
Svalbard seems like it would be so peaceful, and at this point in my life, that is so appealing. But the cold 🥶. My family is Caribbean and I’m not sure if my body could handle it. May be worth a visit though. Fresh, clean air. Peace and quiet (aside from wind). Adorable puppies and majestic polar bears. And clear skies. What more could you want other than a few more degrees added to the temp?

What an idyllic place to live! Surely there are some downsides but the peacefulness and views look wonderful :) I've always lived in a busy city so I would dream to one day come and visit!
