I played BL2 for about 100 hours, and once I played BL3, i haven't gone back. Yes, the story in BL3 is bad, but I find that everything else is better. The late game is great, too! I just hop in and play slaughter house or the raid. It is endless fun with a bunch of different builds. People may say that BL2 has a lot of build variaty, but I just dont see it. BL3 rules this category as well

I did not jive with BL3 when it dropped and just never got around to finishing. I put hundred of hours in BL2 back in the day and recently I felt like playing some Borderlands so I got BL3. Just finished my first playthrough and this game is far better than the community gives it credit for. The story isnt even that bad, its the just the twins that are cringe and not very good villains. Otherwise, the story is fine and has BL2 quality side missions. It was a little easy but BL3 does a LOT right.

Legendaries we're better in borderlands 2 is frustrating with borderlands 3 it feels like they're just not special anymore or powerful I hope they make them better in the next game and oh my gosh please don't do wonderland style having to do something first to get good loot dropping kills the mood

Honestly with the op levels from Pre-Lilith DLC Bl2, UVHM of Borderlands the Pre-Sequel, Vault Hunters from Pre-Sequels and combining the activities from both BL2 and BL3. That'd be the perfect endgame for me. Most people honestly sleep on how good and fun the Pre-Sequel Vault Hunters are because Pre-Sequel has nothing to do in the endgame.

The original Borderlands has my absolute favorite raid boss in the entire series (and I mean when you fight him legitimately, without any stupid ledge glitches), has a fantastic set of pearlescent items that are glorious to find, a nice balance that allows every character to handle every piece of content quite fairly and with a very wide selection of gear, and has weapon proficiencies to level through that are so much better than the badass rank crap the later games have. I like the proficiencies because they have a set maximum for every weapon type rather than unlimited bonuses to every attribute of your character, which continuously makes the game easier. BL3 guardian rank is the absolute worst of them all to me as it locks away mechanics that significantly change gameplay, requiring you to boost all of your attributes by a significant amount if you want to use them. It's made even worse by the fact that BL3 is the easiest game in the series before adding all the guardian rank abilities!
Learning to solo Crawmerax the Invincible on each VH was an amazing and rewarding experience for me that I continue to enjoy doing, whereas in BL3 I simply turned on mayhem 11 as soon as I finished normal mode (which was a cakewalk of a campaign), powerleveled my character to 72, and then walked through every single true trial, invincible, slaughter arena, and true takedown on offer and faced little to no challenge. I just bought BL3 2 weeks ago and I believe arms race gave me more of a struggle than anything else in the game lol

Never understood the “lack of viability” argument in BL2. With a good build, you can still kill a lot of the toughest enemies with even just purple-rarity weapons. Of course Raid Bosses were different, but it makes sense that killing co-op bosses in an unintended solo fashion would demand much more from you lmao

BL2 and BL:TPS always pull me back for their characters. 6 playable per game.
BL2 has 'the most endgame'. But imo the scaling becomes terrible to the point of becoming actively unfun. and I agree, level 61 was fair, everything after was unfun.
BL:TPS has the least endgame. It had my favorite Vault Hunters, and I liked Oz kits more than artifacts. A shame it didn't get all its promised DLC
BL3 has nearly as much end game as BL2, but currently has far less balancing issues. It needed time to balance, but as it stands is great!

Ok so I am back in BL3 after about 5 years. Bought it on launch, completed it with FL4K, started an Amara and dropped the game after that because I didn't really like it (compared to BL2 which I played hundreds of hours).
Now I started a new character (Zane) and want to experience all the content I never saw (DLCs). Was looking on Reddit, trying to fin some guidance, first I saw that there was no UVHM in BL3. And then I also saw that some people reccomend to not even jump into TVHM and just stay in NVHH with Mayhem mode turned on. Is that really a thing ?

@@nathanhendrickson790 i mean sure the end game for tps isnt as good as bl2 and you basically just have eos and the wave survival in the claptrap dlc but "wasnt much to do" is funny considering its drawing point is in its replayability which comes from the fact that each character has the best skill trees of any Borderlands which means your guaranteed to have 6 good playthroughs. Also you arent nearly as limited in your choice for how you wanna play because there isnt that much things that are just blatantly so much stronger than everything and super easy to get that it makes it so that there's no point in running anything else. you basically get the same 5 things every bl2 run. Harold, bee shield, lady fist, and the fibber. Also running slag weapons is basically required so im gonna put the grog nozzle in that list as well. Almost every bl2 run is the exact same since the balancing is shite, if they didnt have that endgame than id say gameplay loop wise, its ass but the story of bl2 and the side quest are good. with that being said, the closest thing to bl2 is the pre-sequel. The pre-sequel also has one of the best stories, good side quest, the best dlc in all of borderlands, yet it also has more variety unlike bl2. and it isn't too old like bl1 and is more similar to bl2 than bl3 obviously. tps is basically the battlefield hardline of bl games except battlefield hardline wasnt nearly as good as battlefield 4, its just that when it came out people complained that it wasnt battlefield enough and then years later battlefield 2042 came out lmao. which was basically the same thing that happened to tps.

What you have to realize is when people say only [insert number] of guns work, Moxxi [Grog] weapons are required, Axton and Krieg are garbage, etc. and it just isn't fun, that means they have little play time at high OP levels (for obvious reasons, they don't find it fun), so they are ignorant about many things, including the nuances of this subject. Honestly, I think the average person, or at least Borderlands player, is just bad or ok at video games, so Borderlands OP levels were just too much for the casuals, causing them to leave before actually experimenting around and finding different builds that worked (even if it's a build that barely worked). I mean yeah, many builds can't do some of the raid bosses, but there's more build variety than what many make it out to be. Half the player base more than likely has never even played every character (most Sal only) and for the few playthroughs they did do, they just used a DPUH or something like an Infinity and haven't even heard of half the gear that exists in the game. They might of made it to like OP3, but then they stopped because the game is too hard and unfair, while they use underleveled sht gear with a terrible skill tree that doesn't synergize well with their gear lmao
Additionally, it isn't that the OP levels are completely unfair and broken, it's that the gear and skill trees aren't balanced around the OP levels. If they balanced the gear and skill trees properly then OP levels wouldn't be a problem at all, like literally at all, so I think this blaming of OP levels is an unfair criticism, as the real blame lies with everything that existed before it. Although, OP levels aren't the problem, I do wish they just left it at level 72 OP8, since upping it is just artificial challenge and gave more skill points than what we should of had.

I'm a big BL2 fan, but even i can't deny how great the gun and build diversity at Endgame in BL3 compare to BL2's, you can build around almost any gun or build you think is fun or cool and make them work on takedown, i think it really hit a really good spot with this kind of diversity for a looter shooter that love to mark themself has different variations of weapons in the game
I know some people think BL2's endgame design is difficult and fun to them, i can see why and respect this opinion, but for a gameseries that most of gameplay formula are basically taking down enemy ASAP bc you don't really have any way to dodge hitscan attack, i think BL3's Endgame is not perfect but atleast the right direction with this kind of formula.
As for TPS, suffering from lack of endgame is just upsetting bc i would said it has some of the best character skill trees in the series imo.

All the end games are fun it’s just that bl3 is better because any build works and while there should be more takedowns and raids the fact you don’t have to run the entire map to fight one raid boss for drops is just a quality of life that makes it better for console players especially since bl2 pc players can download mods while console can’t

I mean it all comes down to taste but while I do enjoy the gameplay of BL3, the games way to easy, and legendaries don’t really feel rare because of how easy they are to get. Say what you want about BL2 but it’s a big grind to get to UVHM and those OP levels but you can feel really accomplished when you do it. When you have a really well put together build that gets through that hard content and you have all those hard to get weapons. It isn’t perfect because I do believe drop rates for weapons could’ve been buffed slightly and I also think the introduction of other elements was good while removing slag so that people wouldn’t have to rely on it as heavily as you had to in BL2. Overall BL3 is extremely easy and loot means nothing because of how easy it is to get. Literally got a legendary in my first side mission when I’m BL2, I’d have to get lucky if any bosses dropped a weapon but like I said it’s all personal taste which is why most content creators make BL2 content because it just has so much more content and a higher skill ceiling.

For me bl3 has the best endgame out of all of them. Yeah bl2 had more raid bosses but unless you always had a group to play with, played as salvadore, had the top of top tier weapons or you put over 2 million hours into the game and know every raid down to the pixel, you’re pretty much just sticking to exploits and cheese which is just boring. In bl3 there’s no need to cheese even if you scale the raids to four player difficulty it’s balanced so much better to the point of a tough but fair challenge. And even if you didn’t want to do raids that fine too go do the seasonal content, knock out some slaughter maps, do some arms race runs, farm for god rolls, do some side quests, do some proving grounds. In bl2 if you didn’t want to do raids then besides farming or some DLCs there really isn’t much to do so the only way you’re gonna extend your playtime is starting a new character and doing it all over again. I spent a whole year as fl4k without ever feeling bored and only decided to play as another character last week. Bl2 is a great game but its endgame doesn’t hold a candle to 3s. It would if it was balanced better though.

Im glad you liked Borderlands 3. In a way, the game got worse for me on how BL2 got worse for you. In fact, for me, it was the death of the franchise. To me, Borderlands was never about farming, but taking new items and combining them into something crazy. you could create builds with blue weapons. While OP levels did hurt the final peice of BL2, it only hurt if you tried to get to OP10. For the rest of the game, it was amazing and tons of endgame activities to do.
BL3 had tons of endgame that was left to die in favor of mode that required the best gear, gear that would get nerfed into the ground every week. The DLC i never bought because they sold back the nerfs into new guns behind a paywall. Something BL2 never did because it instead opened new avenues of power. Theres was no new Pimpernail, no new sandhawk...they were powerful and unique when you got them. But mostly, BL3 was a show of Gearbox's colors because how tonedeaf they were to the community.
Tiny Tina I left before they could go on a nerfing spree again but if there is a medal for worst endgame, its that because of all the reason's stated all leading to one thing: lost potential. A chamber locked away with some of the craziest DnD unbalanced ideas ever conceived by one of the unhinged minds in the franchise...done absolutely nothing with it, while nerfing everything into the ground and raising the not-OP-level level into the high heavens, making everything but legendaires useless and said legendaries having completely random item drop sources. Either way tho, I think BL2 did it best. Lost of build diversity and allowing random builds to exist as legendaries were not the end all be all. Also allowed of some weird items to make some of the best builds out there

I'm glad you communicated that this is strictly about endgame, and I do agree with you. BL2 as a standalone package + the initial DLC is, in my opinion, the GOAT. The main story, the improved mechanics and gameplay from BL1, the massive world, and the introduction to the best villain in the series (And one of the best in all of gaming) helped to elevate BL2 to a different level. Tina's DLC in BL2 alone is a better story than most of the main entries, and that includes BL3, which told a convoluted, rather boring, and oftentimes frustrating story that ended so anticlimactically (e.g. Tyreen boss fight was too easy, Lilith just sacrificing herself with no explanation, giving Sanctuary to Ava, and no ending sequence to celebrate Lilith or anything). However, BL3 makes up for itself with the DLC and endgame, so I will give you that. Endgame-wise, it is the best in the series. Solid video.

Just finished watching your vid, and imo the best endgame in Borderlands is BL3. Of course Mayhem 1-10 are a slog but once you get to 11 that's where the endgame starts to be *really* fun. Not only that, but the approach to endgame that BL3 provided with the Mayhem Levels was a lot more welcoming than the previous games. I usually shy away from challenges, therefore I never played any of the games in UVHM and the amount of TVHM playthroughs that I have can be counted on one, maybe two hands despite an abnormal amount of hours put into the games. But climbing the ladder from mayhem 1 to 11, if you ignore the modifiers, felt less like getting challenged and more like getting variations in combat. It didnt even feel like a gateway to the endgame and more like just more Borderlands, if saying that makes sense. Before getting into the mayhem levels i didnt care about BLs endgame, i had my fun with just normal mode and occasionally TVHM for years. Seeing people online obsess over specific gear felt odd and alien to me, i looked at it as a thing for the real die-hards to get into. Only after BL3's mayhem levels i realized how great the franchises endgame can be and since then I've been a lot more open to TVHM runs in the other games. I still shy away from UVHM tho bc everyone says that slag is a must-have in it and being required to have something limits my arsenal and therefore my fun in a way that I dont want to get into lol

Lack of good guns and it feels like build diversity struggles, depending on near or actual god rolls for end game content. Ive got an amazing Moze and Zane but it feels like even builds for specific gun makers are lackluster.
Farming iridium is a little tedious and the important uses for it are really expensive versus the utility they provide. Paying 500 iridium for the one proper raid boss is annoying, especially when the drops can be pretty underwhelming.

Lack of good guns? Unless you’re showing restraint that is just a lie. I don’t have enough hands to count how many great guns there are.
Build diversity struggles? Bruh I can build fl4k 4 maybe 5 ways that can solo all endgame content. I can do snipers only thanks to the hunter tree, I can monarch the whole thing with a monarch and stackbot, I can overpower my loader bot and make him beat all the content for me, or I can exploit the bounty hunter and solo everything with the fish slap. By bl2 as great as that game is by level 80 there are only 2 ways you’re gonna end up building a character and 1 way if you plan on doing digistruct peak. Even more so considering with 80 skill points you can almost cap out all three trees.

OP levels are *NOT* the problem. The lack of balancing *AROUND* the OP levels are the problem. This is a very common misconception that is honestly quite annoying. If Gearbox balanced the gear and skill trees to scale and fit better with the OP levels then the OP levels would be perfectly fine. I honestly really like OP levels too. As an outrageous example, let's say OP10 is way too hard, so they buffed every weapons damage, every shields capacity and regen, and your HP by 10x per OP level. Are OP levels still going to be a problem? Obviously not, and now they'd be a cake walk. Sure, OP levels could be balanced differently themselves, but I think they should stay how they are (except remove OP9 and OP10), and everything else should be re-balanced. This is already what needs to happen anyways because the balance of things even before the OP levels already wasn't great. Take a Bearcat and a DPUH, for example. One is a Pearlescent and one is a Legendary, yet one is clearly light years ahead of the other in terms of damage and usefulness. At OP10 a DPUH is stupidly better. This isn't OP10s fault, this is the Bearcat's damage being horribly unbalanced. Just doubling the damage alone would make the Bearcat significantly better, although, I think it needs a special gimmick to make it more useful as well as more unique, like maybe decent ammo regen, or if ~6 grenades hit an enemy an additional explosion that always crits spawns, or something like that (since it is Pearlescent). Regardless, if they buffed a lot of weapons, grenades, and shields it wouldn't be an issue at all. It all comes down to Gearbox not knowning how to properly balance a game (incompetence and/or lack of care). I love the OP levels, but I don't love how "useless" some Legendary, Seraph, and Pearlescents are, or how some things in the game don't even work as intended. OP levels brought a great challenge to the game which it needed, but it was to an already unbalanced game, which is what really lead to peoples gripe with the game, since it made the imbalance that already existed far more apparent and stick out like a sore thumb. The game was relatively easy before OP levels, with some challenge of course just not anything crazy, which is why this disparaging view became more common amongst people because the jump in difficulty was a lot especially for casuals.
Additionally, speaking of, BL3 just like Diablo 4 was very obviously catered towards the casuals. This is why the game is a lot easier and legendaries constantly drop. I personally like BL2's difficulty and hard(er) to get unique gear more appealing because I like a challenge, and I don't mind farming (to an extent, ofc). To be fair, I am a fan of the Souls series and Calamity is one of my favorite mods for Terraria, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that I like some challenge, and farming. BL2's balance may be unbalanced, but it is still a great game, and BL3's balance is also unbalanced as well too, so it's not just BL2. As I said, Gearbox doens't know how to balance a game properly. The Mayhem modifiers are abyssmal, a lot of the game is too easy, and don't get me started on invincibility stages 😤I still enjoy BL3, but it will just never beat BL2 in my opinion. It doesn't have the same charm. Feels more Ubisoft EA Activision corperate-y with less soul, although, the DLCs were great and felt like they actually had soul and actual thought put into it. The base game though, eh, which is very important as that is the foundation, and more. You can't release a pile of skagcrap and then release a 9.5/10 DLC and expect me to say the game is the best ever. Base game matters (base game isn't THAT^ bad, fyi, just an example, although it isn't great). Like I said to another commenter, "BL2 is better as a game overall in my opinion :) like with Fallout 4 and Dark Souls 2, Borderlands 3 is a good game, but not a good Borderlands game (F4 good game, not a good Fallout game - DS2 good game, not a good Dark Souls game)." A lot of the quality of life changes in 3 are nice, and it has some good content, gameplay feels good, some other things, but it has major flaws that should not be so easily ignored. The story is truly awful, for one, but at least the DLCs were immensely better. I need to play BL3 again I have so many builds I want to do, and I'm sure there have been many updates since I last played. Hey, maybe I'll think more highly of it if I played now, depending on what they've done to it since I last played.

The endgame in bl2 sucked, the lack of build variety and the reliance on slag, you are forced to use slag which sucks, I shouldn't be forced to use slag, it completely ruined the endgame

@@jordankerr1 the fact that your forced to use slag in the first place is the problem, slag itself is the biggest issue, it completely ruined the endgame, and it butchered the build variety, at least in bl3 I'm not forced to use a specific element

Bl2 hands down. BL3 is very boring to play through tho. Everything about it just feels repetitive. Especially starting over a new character. The entire feels like homework. If it wasn’t gameplay it would actually be a bad game

Bruh I can say the exact same thing about 2 being repetitive. Go here, shoot that, go there shoot this, go up there, shoot him, go over there shoot that robot, go to the zoo, shoot the bird, go up that hill, shoot those guys, go up another hill, shoot another robot, cross a dessert, shoot more robots, cross the bridge, shoot jack, shoot the monster, rinse and repeat two more times.

You wanna hate on 3? Fine but don’t do it if you’re gonna look the other way when bl2 does the exact same thing

Next time, maybe use appropriate footage while talking about the games. Why are you showing BL3 gameplay while talking about BL1?
