This makes me think about the Crit. Like you can stay using this gun in a play through and never have to switch off it. If it gets under leveled just tip Moxxi for an on level one.

I honestly like how the Meta ended up. Yeah during the life cycle of the game our favs went up and down, but never to the point we were just sitting on our thumbs waiting for the next broken thing to come along. Playing as a Moze main the nerfs never hit that hard as long as you had bottomless mags your damage was always there, even if you weren't melting bosses at lightspeed as you were before a huge nerf ruined your favourite damage dealer.
I had no idea it was broken and tossed it during the truant fight. Almost crashed my game and now me and my buddy have a fun clip of the first time we ever did that fight with it. Good times

For me it was the nerf of white elephant or whatever its called lol, why nerf amara the weakest vault hunter only to readd a gun that does both melee AND gun damage??
Fun and interesting look into the game and how things have changed over the years with great pacing and I loved the addition of having the weapon list of the "current" meta on the screen throughout the video, great video!
i think the ghost builds were always pretty interesting. When bloody harvest launched, the ghost effect gave you some really unique combos. Sad that it isnt recognized so much nowadays
You forgot about the butcher on release. That thing hit like an absolute truck but after it got nerfed it was basically unuseable for over a year. Still to this day never seen a weapon in any game have so much recoil.
You forgot a crucial aspect to the yellow cake meta. The cartel event was, at the time, the only place you could get weapons with the 300/90 anointment. And it would apply on all eight projectiles in a way that totally broke the damage formula for some reason
The elemental tendrils that came off of the hex used to deal splash damage which is one of the reasons it was so strong and why it was so good on moze, because with vampyr it would give her crazy health regen. After that the only thing that came close was the cloning maddening tracker.
I miss the days of Hex. Back then I would run around with Moze and quickly clear entire areas with rad recurring Hex. You could use any explosive gun, so I had a Lasersploder in every element just cause I really like that thing :)
cant believe you didnt discuss the absolute obscene meta of boresplosion zane, getting billions of damage of recurring explosions that detonate screenwide so much that you literally go blind and your framerate drops to single digits in some cases. the yellowcake and other high aoe weapons made a huge comeback as a result, even if their damage was nerfed.
You didn’t mention the very beginning…(and very short lived) Crossroad meta. I didn’t see much of it, and I started day 1, but still thought it should be included. Either case tho, I really wish the Cutsman was meta again. It needs somewhere between a 75-125% damage buff with a 20% projectile range increase. Making it infinite might crash the game due to the elemental beams everywhere, although not visible. But I still think it needs a amsll projectile range buff.
As someone who was able to join a bit after launch, it's crazy to see how much the meta has evolved from the weapons Even crazier to see how much the game as a whole evolved (drops being fixed, perks being fixed) truly a different game from day 1
I never really stuck to the meta but some of my favorite weapons were the Ogre, Trevonator, Roisens Thorns, OPQ System, Hellwalker, Soulrender, Plaguebearer, Tiggs Boom, and Kaoson.
even then the meta guns arent guns you must use, there are plenty of other weapons that may not do the same work but are just as fun to use, my fav will always be the double barrel minigun
The recursion was insane. I could lag all of our groups game while killing everything on and off screen. I've got some insane screenshots of just 1000's of recursion projectiles bouncing between everything. Saddest nerf in all bl history
Recently repicked up Borderlands 3 after seeing the trailer/announcement for 4, basically had got hit by the itch of wanting to play the games again. Its amazing how nice the game feels even now, and even if you don't have the "perfect roll" on everything its possible to play through most content just fine. Been going through and farming out stuff for all four vault hunters while playing Amara for just the same mob clearing potential. And outside of the more tanky enemies/bosses, been using stuff I know is on the better side of usable without much issue. Was nice though being able to quickly farm out an Plasma Coil the second I hit 72 through Arms Race, so I had something that could deal with everything if need be while I used other stuff that I was finding interesting and/or never had used before.
I feel like there was a solid amount of really good weapons/equipment that weren't mentioned. Most of the Class Mods from Handsome Jackpot were super strong, Seein' Dead, Green Monster and St4ckbot were all super strong at the time. I saw no mention of the Stop Gap which was really strong early on in the game's lifespan Plus there were a bunch of other pretty solid weapons that weren't mentioned. Brainstormer/Reflux were both great weapons, the Sickle, specially Boom Sickle was very good, the Bekah is an excellent weapon and the Hellshock was very solid after its buff.
Because at the upper echelons of the challenge this game may provide(72-M11), you need at least one meta item, preferably the pearl, or you will die. You probably know this though
I recently did another play through of bl3 for the first time in years, and I was actually really happy. A lot of people complain the meta is too OP now at endgame but you don’t even have to use that stuff unless your min maxing. As a Zane main, I’m able to do all level 70 mayhem 10 content with a build entirely consisting of base game items which is great! And then when I wanted to use new stuff I just used the canon and unforgiven and can easily do true takedown mayhem 10 at level 70 using just the mantis.
It's strangely ironic when I think about it that The Lob takes such unique and frankly dangerous gameplay to use to its fully potential, but I sorely miss it being the kingpin. Getting it for the first time and melting through the most challenging parts of the game was just fantastic levels of fun.
This game came at such a perfect time for mobbing with the bros. It was good times getting carried or carrying your friends through the Maliwan Takedown.
I was so furious when that first big nerf hit literally every piece of my equipment. I stripped down completely and played the slots until I got enough random legendaries to fill my load out. And that was the birth of Rough Rider Zane.
I remember getting so mad when i saw the revolter's effect. Like, not even while shield is depleted, which might take a LITTLE sacrifice, but just activating on shield break? When Zane and Fl4k were already getting so much from the "on action skill start gain shield break effect" anoint? I thought they had learned from the bee shield, then they go and release something somehow far dumber than the bee shield right at the end of the game and dip out, ruining shield balance at the literal last step. At least the infernal wish has some ATTEMPT at sacrifice, even if it doesn't work
this was such a great video! hopefully you're planning on doing the same for 1 and 2 as well :D and maybe even wonderlands since i think that games pretty much done now too lol
Brainstormer and bekah were super fun to use but i remember the recursion just completely requiring every drop you got to have an Action Skill End anoint and warping the meta around it
Crazy to see that as soon as the 5 min mark came, I was already completely unaware of anything else that happened afterwards. As a die hard borderlands fan in my teens, and someone who spent more than 3 months in HOURS in borderlands 2 alone, crazy to see how disappointing BL3 was for me after a few months. I remember the early builds, the early meta and the nerfs within the first few months. Fl4k being one of the strongest characters at launch, with amara and moze coming in after. I remember Zane being basically just optimal for mobbing then a few years later seeing him making boss speed kills and melting everything. Don’t know what all happened to this game so it’s cool to see a video like this for someone who was a super fan then missed out on everything in BL3 because of the story and how let down I was. Gameplay still looks as sick/as fun as ever.
The balls on this man, reloading a crit so close to the edge of gravewards arena. If I could go back to a patch id go back to when the recursion would clear the takedown in one shot. good times
It dropped the day after my bday. Skipped all my college classes (dropped out that semester anyway tho lol) played for 16 hours straight. Was disapointed with the story.. but the guns and gameplay itself were the best yet
mindsweeper moze + lucky 7 is what does it for me. you just gotta reload till you get a good set of bonuses, but with moze you never have to reload again so you can keep them forever
I remember farming Graveward with the ppb just for the funny factor. Even if I didn’t get anything good, seeing that heath bar vanish was a crazy dopamine hit
I remember those host shotguns conquering the slaughter maps for me but I don't think they could compare with legendary stuff as time went on so might cool to go back and see what was up. Always fun to get lucky with the stats
my fav meta was the wedding invitation sniper being the most OP thing with fl4k back when it was mayhem 4/lv53 and when the labb shotgun got a huge buff and one shotted everything. when they upped the levels i had to get a sav editor to level up the sniper because it was an event only weapon back in 2020. havent played since october 2020 after 2000+ hours so i have no idea what the meta was after they introduced armsrace/mayhem 11
I miss the time the lob got buffed. I had a max movement speed/lifesteal Zane with the Rough Rider. I used to get so much speed it was actually hilarious watching my enemies die to such a slow projectile. The ice lob only made it funnier as they would freeze and die slowly while I had zoomed past them, having forgot I was even killing them… like 2 miles away
Driver Amara with Kaosoon was like.......... everything for me once I tried it. Never swapped characters ever again. For some reason it was like the best thing I had ever played in my life, everything i could ever want from any weapon and character ever
I got to borderlands 3 pretty late because I was one of the people who refused to buy it on epic. So a large portion of the game had been discovered and defined already
Cartels meta was so special to me. My first build(yes i know others thought of it as well but i didn't have to look it up)for Moze, the old URAD/Bloodletter combo, is still my favorite. I want the 50/150 back. They can keep the yellowcake nerf, i use that like a shot gun still😂
Kaoson still best overall gun in the game imo, in terms of usability vs damage vs accuracy vs fun to use. A god roll single bullet with an Infernal Wish shield is still in the meta for mobbing, imo. I miss the recursion so bad.
I remember before getting a hex you could geta purple with like throw 1 grenade spawn like 18-19 grenades and they would home and explode it was nice too for an epic. ALSO the hellwalker makes a Electric guitar sounds when shooting and also shoots a patter of a pentagram...fyi.
Melee Amara main here, the facepuncher is still the best weapon in the game for her. The blade fury is a great secondary but I still find myself using the facepuncher far more. There nerfs didn't do shit to it's effectiveness
The Complex Root was great when it came out. As with all my previous builds it got nerfed about 3 days later. Glad to hear they made it better. I stopped playing after that.
I’ve never understood all the nerfs and increases as it’s not a PVP game. The meta just makes nearly everything else unplayable, especially on higher Mayhem levels.
Though The Meta is probably the best it ever was when this video released, ultimately I still dislike how many interesting weapons were kinda just purged from usage because their damage just wasn’t there. I especially dislike that a lot of the more meta guns feel samey. There was an objective property to what made a gun good or not, and that was high bullet count. If your gun isn’t an automatic shotgun, it better do melee damage because otherwise, it’s lacking. Man I wish the damage numbers for single bullet weapons was increased more. Guns like The Flood and Kaoson are barely usable at mayhem 10 TVHM, which honestly is just a shame. If a gun struggles to kill basic psychos, or all stars in this case, I don’t think it’s necessarily good balance. Metas will always exist, because there’s always a best at something. But Balance wise, it should never feel as if the Meta is the ONLY option.
I was sad when they nerfed the Garcia and made it pump action. On Zane it was able to mag dump so quickly and it was a hell of a lot of fun to use. Maybe not meta but it added variety and fun to the build. It was balanced imo because it burnt through ammo for that DPS.
I stopped playing this around the release of the Maliwan Takedown and only just recently started playing again about a week ago, man did it feel weird trying to learn the new stuff. I didn't farm as much back then so my stash is pretty small but I'm glad I kept my Rowan's Call and Hellwalker because they are carrying me right now. 😅
Looking at the good weapons I wish the next game does it differently, like most of these weapons are good simply because they 1. Do lots of damage 2. Shoot multiple projectiles. It’s kinda boring, I wish the next game was really interesting and unique weapons that are more than just “pull tripper shoot a lot of bullets”
The face puncher on Amara is absolutely better than the Blade Fury. Even in the x7 version the amount of body and mind hits easily out Dmg the even a modded X4 full auto fury.
I'm hoping with BL4 that it will be better written with a great story, but I would like to see as much of the free extra content that Gearbox gave us in this game. It was a lot of fantastic gear and items that some didn't seem to appreciate
honestly i miss crashing lobbies with amaras ricochet build it was one of the fee builds i came across by myself just trynna have fun and ended up going crazy
I still feel sad remembering the glory days of the cutsman or the lob that sadly got an immense nerve the way gearbox did Mayhem 10 where they did like no damage. The Lob was especially sad being turned with a buff from the worst to the best weapon only to drop off a short time later. With Mayhem 10 onwards the trend was getting the New add on weapons to be good at the game before they start buffing guns like the hellwalker which made some base game stuff relevant again. I hope they do not do something so bad with BL4.
i self found the op system 2x purple as a bonkers gun for fl4k, so when i found the OPQ system i found it hilarious that its a throwback to that gun i founfd that jsut worked!
I'm baffled the hive never got a spot. Paired with a AS-start Revolter, Guardian Angel(optional), AS-end 100% splash anointment, toboggan +55 AOE iron bear slide glitch, and +grenade, splash & Torgue damage mind sweeper. Online players will think you're a modder, literal auto play Note: recharge parts on shields also affect action skill cooldown. Relics with cooldown are subtractioal but recharge parts are exponential, much like elemental relics vs weapon boost. Isn't that neat?
damn i just forjet how everything was, i actualy dont play but when i was playing it was such a good memories in my xbox one s, nice video, i think i playing back

mindsweeper moze + lucky 7 is what does it for me. you just gotta reload till you get a good set of bonuses, but with moze you never have to reload again so you can keep them forever
On launch everyone was using blue or purple torgue shotties on flak and 1-maggin every boss
I remember farming Graveward with the ppb just for the funny factor. Even if I didn’t get anything good, seeing that heath bar vanish was a crazy dopamine hit
The Cutsman with a good build can still shine
I remember those host shotguns conquering the slaughter maps for me but I don't think they could compare with legendary stuff as time went on so might cool to go back and see what was up. Always fun to get lucky with the stats
Hate how much they changed the guns with the constant buffs and nerfs these days were nostalgic
my fav meta was the wedding invitation sniper being the most OP thing with fl4k back when it was mayhem 4/lv53 and when the labb shotgun got a huge buff and one shotted everything. when they upped the levels i had to get a sav editor to level up the sniper because it was an event only weapon back in 2020. havent played since october 2020 after 2000+ hours so i have no idea what the meta was after they introduced armsrace/mayhem 11
I love my Pearl of Ineffable Knowledge. That + Stackbot makes Fl4k a powerhouse
How are you gonna completely ignore the Crossroads SMG pre nerf? That gun was so OP, even more than the Cutsman I feel.
My favorite build is the Amara blade fury build. It’s so insane how an assault rifle can one shot enemies
They can keep the yellowcake nerf, i use that like a shot gun still😂
I'm up to the Krakatoa but no mention of the Crossroads? That was before the Cutsman, no?
Also the OPQ when the level cap was raised to 60 was still a top tier option.

Kaoson still best overall gun in the game imo, in terms of usability vs damage vs accuracy vs fun to use. A god roll single bullet with an Infernal Wish shield is still in the meta for mobbing, imo.
I miss the recursion so bad.
my fave meta was cutsman meta. it felt good to use and was a good weapon to critswap with. if i had to pick a second its def the amara recursion meta
I remember before getting a hex you could geta purple with like throw 1 grenade spawn like 18-19 grenades and they would home and explode it was nice too for an epic. ALSO the hellwalker makes a Electric guitar sounds when shooting and also shoots a patter of a pentagram...fyi.
One of my favorite builds I had was a Zane light show speed build, i genuinely was faster than every vehicle in the game lol
The ghost grenades from the first Halloween update are my favorite grenades in the franchise
Bullet witch Amara insta reloading the hellwalker was always my favourite build
I personally miss the old days with the Lyuda, Cutsman & Ion Cannon
I was the meta. Then the meta changed and I wasnt the meta anymore. Then buffs came and I became meta again. The meta scares me.
Great vid 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Looking at the good weapons I wish the next game does it differently, like most of these weapons are good simply because they 1. Do lots of damage 2. Shoot multiple projectiles. It’s kinda boring, I wish the next game was really interesting and unique weapons that are more than just “pull tripper shoot a lot of bullets”
The Borderlands 3 meta for me was a OP modded grenade which some random guy gave me. It crashed my game so much it's that OP.
I remember when dlc 3 dropped, moze meta changed forever
Im surprised the ghast call wasn't in here. Even without a god roll that thing is still super broken for bossing and mobbing
The face puncher on Amara is absolutely better than the Blade Fury.
Even in the x7 version the amount of body and mind hits easily out Dmg the even a modded X4 full auto fury.
The fact that you said the doom shotgun was "meta" and you never brought up the roisens thorn pistol is actually irritating.
I'm hoping with BL4 that it will be better written with a great story, but I would like to see as much of the free extra content that Gearbox gave us in this game. It was a lot of fantastic gear and items that some didn't seem to appreciate
ngl the flakker finally being good in bl3 is awesome actually
It's not bad at all in BL2 tho
honestly i miss crashing lobbies with amaras ricochet build it was one of the fee builds i came across by myself just trynna have fun and ended up going crazy
Dude same legit killed all my love for the game cause every gun ans build I came up with got nerfed into thr ground
I hope they do not do something so bad with BL4.
having nostalgia for bl3 is like halving nostalgia for your abusive ex
i self found the op system 2x purple as a bonkers gun for fl4k, so when i found the OPQ system i found it hilarious that its a throwback to that gun i founfd that jsut worked!
Nice job man love it 💪💪👍👍🤎🤎
I miss the extra projectiles from extra elements.
The problem is always when they adjust weapon balance according to the most meta use with every interaction possible
Geat vid.
Thanks.
I miss the original Yellowcake. Sooooo much fun melting everything....
Omg... I can't believe it's been 5 years since it came out already..
I'm baffled the hive never got a spot. Paired with a AS-start Revolter, Guardian Angel(optional), AS-end 100% splash anointment, toboggan +55 AOE iron bear slide glitch, and +grenade, splash & Torgue damage mind sweeper.
Online players will think you're a modder, literal auto play
Note: recharge parts on shields also affect action skill cooldown. Relics with cooldown are subtractioal but recharge parts are exponential, much like elemental relics vs weapon boost. Isn't that neat?
damn i just forjet how everything was, i actualy dont play but when i was playing it was such a good memories in my xbox one s, nice video, i think i playing back
