This show didn't get the accolades it deserved at the time. It was broadcast late late night and should have been a prime time show. I binge this show whenever I need a great laugh! Unfortunately there were probably elements of this show considering the time it was aired that would absolutely make the crazy left lose their shit and would have canceled it after the first few episodes....Our country has lost it's collective mind.
The underlying idea is trying to convince someone that what they "know" is wrong. Mrs. Schnauzer had just seen the movie Gaslight, in which Charles Boyer tries to drive Ingrid Bergman's character insane using this technique. One poster said that an episode of Andy Griffith had a similar theme. On an episode of Star Trek TNG, Picard's captor tries to convince him that there are 5 lights in the room, when in fact there are only 4. There must be a formal psychological term for this.
Joe E. Ross (15 de marzo de 1914 - 13 de agosto de 1982 ), fue un actor estadounidense conocido por su característica exclamación "Ooh! Ooh!" que usaba en muchos de sus papeles.
Look at the newspaper. On the small black and white sets of the 60's you wouldn't have noticed. The Friday and the 20 were pasted in. Also the year was deliberately smudged.
Fred Gwynn 's Voice (Herman) & Joe E Ross's 'Uw Uw' (Botch/Hair Hear Bunch), happy memories of my UK childhood 😊
Captain Block ( Paul Reed) is THE Supporting Actor in this Comedy Bravo!!
The chemistry between Fred Gwynne and Al Lewis was apparent even here.
2:15 "You see? You see? With his yelling and his screaming, all I've been trying to do was say 2 words to him all night... DROP DEAD!"
I LOVE this show
there's a lot happening here. These writers ahead of their time.
One of my favorite episodes of the series.
Charlotte Rae breaking the fourth wall.
This is pure Borscht Belt humor - you just don't see this stuff anymore.
Do you mind? Do you mind?😂
I agree, this show could have had a much longer run. Look at the long running crap they have on today, its sickening.
James Polk WAS a great President!! Highly underrated.
This episode's ending left me laughing out loud.
The schnausyers are my favorite couple on this show. They should've had their own spinoff.
And it should have been aired on Thursday nights
They were going to have their own tv show - but a director or producer died at only 54 and his tv project died, too.
@@mayalee7745 YES THE GREAT NAT HIKEN PASSED ON
They were going to have their own series but the great conedic genius, Nat Hiken, died before he could finish it.😢
I loved the captain
I love schnauzer's accent. "Thoysday" lol
That wasn't an accent. That was Al Lewis.
Yes. That is the New York way of talking. A little different than the eastern brogue in the other New England states.
Who doesn't?
@@jeangruen833 Da Bronx!
Awesome show I have a cast car 54 but the light is lost BUGGER....
When they aired the opening credits. The two are using the 7 words you cannot say on television.

🤣💥🤛
crazy story line,,,,but good way of doing it .
Funny!
Charlotte Rae
The bomb diggity
And its nice to see the uncut episodes too. I hate how they chop them up in syndication. Its usually about 3 minutes or so.
This show had such Seinfeld humor...such a great show.
Leo and the wife were both wrong on Lincoln's height. Alexa on Amazon says he was 6 foot 4 😀😀 and the tallest president.

that is the term: "gaslighting"

ok the toodys are my favorite couple
Grandpa Munster and Edna Garrett rip.
One thing would have to be changed about this episode were it made today.Catholics are no longer prohibited from eating meat on Fridays.
Tom Dockery it's optional. I still abstain
Lincoln was 6” 4

The actors who played the Toodys played a married couple the Ritziks on Sgt. Bilko
This show would have lasted longer if it didn't have a cold war theme.
Khruschev's due in Idlewild...
Actually Joe E Ross was the main contributor for the show not going on after 2 seasons.

Al Lewis's mouth is classic !!!!
10:18 For a few seconds I thought Leo was on a cell phone.
I similar story was on the andy griffith show
Early example of false news. If enough people believe some blatant falsehood its true
Barney Miller is better than Car 54 Where Are You? Tony
I never liked George Raft...
Look, it's Herman AND Grampa Munster!
But boy, is this dialogue cringe-worthy.
