I'm 34 and kids tell me I'm too old to start Skating. So 10 months ago I started skating with the help of Skateboarding made simple. The BEST step by step instructional videos available. I'm no Shane O'Neil... 😂 but I'm happy where I'm at with my skateboarding. Thankyou Aaron Kyro and the Braille team. Much love from Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺
Krys Marsh It’s a good idea to start skating late in life, that way you can get a head start on your knee and back injuries before you hit retirement. Hey if you break your hip at 34 you can learn to use a walker before you get real old.
Spooby already have knee problems from rugby and back problems from work. Had them for years so I already have a headstart... Annnnd I can tre flip lol
Sounds dangerous. You gotta figure for any reason they need to bail, their feet will also likely land on those same marbles. Unless maybe you filled a designated area with those said marbles.
IMaximusDMI They've skated on a flamethrower board, and a deck with a bunch of nails poking through it. And no shoes! I don't think they care about safety.
Would love to see more like these with an absolute beginner, which helps beginners virtually connect to the way you are teaching stuff. You guys are amazing - information + humor
I've been loving skateboarding since I was just a kid but there was any mentor in my hometown, then I discovered your tutorials wandering randomly on youtube and in few hours I developed an addiction to braille videos, so I've bought my first complete on internet and following each single step I've started to pushing around my board, developed confidence and tried the first ollie of my life, after each step of pratice after experiencing frustration I landed it, it was so beautiful, an amazing feeling. Now I just can't stop having fun with my board skating around every corner of the town. I just keep the board with me every day everywhere and it's so satisfying praticing and progressing in it day by day. thanks a lot to all braille members for doing these educative videos and entertain us. Skateboarding is most of all heart and discipline applied on the board everyday, and I honestly think that without your videos this probably remained a desire stored in my wardrobe. Thank you guys, keep rockin' it with your vids
Lance or Gabe, whoever edits these, could you work on evening out the level of sound so people with headphones don't go deaf when Aaron yells in the mic? I'm sure it would be much appreciated by a lot of people!
that legit was one of the best first ollies ive ever seen, like normally u get like half a inch off the ground and call it a win. This was a nice like 3 inches off the ground
Ohhhhh, I forgot that it was almost Christmas and all the kids are home from school. I couldn't understand why the comment section was so moronically toxic today.
I was having issues with my ollies for the longest time until I saw one of Aaron's videos saying to push your front foot forward. After that, I got the timing down and I'm well on my way to learning many more tricks. Thanks for your help Braille!!!
That's just crazy. She just learned to Ollie in aprox an hour and a half! It took me almost a year or more to learn to Ollie by trying to figure out the movements and break it down on my own. At this rate she will land a rolling 360 flip within a week or so lol! I would definitely say that the videos absolutely work. I wish I had them 20 years ago!
I did it today, the trainers really helped a lot and alleviated my fear of shooting off. and so did this video. Thank the heavens for the invention of skater trainers ! you rock Chloe! and Aaron is such an awesome hypeman.
Aaron you are a legend/motivator at first I thought like I would never want to skate and now I do you are awesome. Like if u agree so Aaron can see this
I agree fully.I didn't want to skateboard until I started watching his videos, and now I'm building ramps at my friends house 'cause they helped take down a skatepark and got some of the stuff, like really expensive wood (I forgot the name.) It's been great. THANK YOU AARON KYRO!!!!!!!!!!!
I really like your videos!!! I think you are a great teacher Aaron!! You know how to explain things step by step. Thanks a lot. I'm 52 years old and I have started skating and I just love it! I wish I could take classes with you, the problem is that I'm in Spain!!! I still have some trouble with ollies, but slowly I'm getting them better...
Hi guys! I'm a great fan of yours, I follow Braille Sk8 channel since Aaron early kickflip tutorials and I really appreciate everything you do for new skaters. When I was a teenager I would have loved to have any tips on basic and advanced tricks but I had to rely mostly on VHS pro videos as in my town there were no skaters at all (I'm from southern Italy) and everything was super hard. Your videos helped me when I got back on my skate and even though I've got some major problems with herniated discs in my spine (well yeah I'm actually 34) I hope I will never quit and your videos will always keep me inspired and eager to skate more! Thanks a lot guys, keep pushin'!
veteran skater, I am in love with how the system breaks down tricks into the base components. fundamentals are so important. When I coach the youngsters at the local skatepark I take a similar approach, but I was super impressed to see her pick up the base movements of an ollie so quickly. When every skater learns how to ollie, they basically go through thie same process, but fumble around it, and try to juggle the components in various orders until it clicks. this wastes a lot of time. I am super happy that someone took the time to break it down. The internet is amazing, for many other reasons, but in regards to skateboarding, it is great to have resources like this. Back in my day, we had to fumble around in the dark, tons of trial and error, talking with friends, and figuring out tricks on our own without resources. it took much longer to hammer out tricks.
I get you're just wanting to pitch a cool idea so I'm not hating with this comment, but trust me this would not go well at all and there's a very strong likely hood that one of the guys would snap their ankle or ankles. Climbing shoes are built as stiff as they are because when Climbing your ankles and feet down move around that much and that quickly, but with skating that stiffness can very quickly become a problem.
AARON! Something you mentioned on SMS 1 that really helped me that you didn't mention in this video was to lift your front foot as fast as you can right after you get a good pop with your back foot. It doesn't look like she's lifting her front foot fast enough. That tip was a game changer for me last year and now I can easily ollie layed down full size trash cans with total confidence. Thanks for that.
Recently you guys have been doing a lot more Ollie tutorials, but I learned from that and moved on to the front 180. You guys should make more on that for the people who learned from these
For sure does! I just got back into skating after 4 years, and I learned all the volume 1 tricks within a week. I just font have heel flip or frontshove
I did the same, except I knew how to pop the board really good, I do get off the ground, it was just the foot sliding motion I had troubles with at first. Now I do both a good strong pop and I slide my foot till it reaches the nose (I can see the white mark on my board), but I can never land on the board. The board keeps going too far forward and I end up landing on the tail and falling backward. (I am trying it on grass, if I did it on concrete I would definitely slam my head a few times doing that).
I hate how you dont explain how to pop the board properly when you have them just stand on the board and pop the nose up thats not doing much instead have them have one foot on the ground and explain how you flick the tail down with your toes no tutorial i have ever seen goes over this and thats why i couldnt ollie for awhile and im sure skateboarding made simple doesnt because she doesnt know PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM FOR EVERYONE ELSE
+Ignitable Virus I agree. You can really see it well in Aaron's slow mo 'how to ollie' videos, but they don't actually talk about it. As a kid I wish someone had told me that, because I just kept mashing the tail against the ground and trying to jump off it. It's like an entire step that Braille never mentions. You pretty much can't pop until you've taken your weight off the board, which is where the tip of the back foot comes into play.
Hey aaron (and all of the braille guys and gals) don't know of this is gonna get to you, but I just wanted to say that you DO help new skaters a lot. I'm not really into the community, I just do it by and for myself, but I think I would have gotten nowhere without your videos! Still haven't bought sms, but I'll get around to that when I get a little better and start with the flip tricks, promise. So thanks and I hope you guys keep getting bigger and bigger!
here's a tip that helps me a lot: stand on flat ground and just jump straight up. then, jump with both feet but drag your front foot up like you were doing an ollie. now with the same timing do the same exact thing on a skateboard. also the three most important parts in an ollie are: popping hard enough with your back foot, correctly dragging your front foot up the board and kicking the board down at the right time, and timing.
Wow now I think I need skateboarding made simple because two tips you gave her and I had Ollie's sorted although I don't have the balance to just ride a skateboard around.
Not only is this a really cool video to see progression. But she is also very lovely to look at. I encourage women to do skateboarding as the sport has too many men, in it... which I really dislike. Just like Drifting... I encourage women to do this more as well. Thanks and keep skating Chloe (I hope I spelled your name right) and thanks Braille for this video. She's super awesome! XXX
Between SMS and Skater Trainers I think it put me on a good pace to progression. Most of my riding is to the office so it's not like I can attempt ollies and stuff on the way. I think I would get some odd looks running around with ripped slacks. So the days I can't get to the park, I get my board with the Skater Trainers and practice. Good job Chloe!
I found when learning footing for certain tricks a section of padded carpet helps alot like the trainers I used to teach all the younglings in my hood the basics I met afew years later who still really liked that I did so
When i was 12 i told these 2 skaters that I'd give them a coke if they taught me how to ollie. Lol about 30 minutes later they got their coke but before I had been trying for years and still couldn't figure it out.
Surprisingly, I learned the heelflip before I learned the Ollie. Being goofy footed, I'd always kick outward with my heel inadvertantly while I was trying to learn the Ollie and then finally landing a heelflip. The Ollie took me such a long time to learn but I did master it: 3 or about 4 feet off the ground pushing my front foot forward, bringing up my back foot so if I were to Ollie a bench or a fire hydrant, my back trucks would clear it. Chloe here is learning much faster than I did. She'll be skating in no time.
i got a suggestion for the ollie many people keep there foot way too far to the middle when i learned how to ollie myself i put my front foot on the bolts and slowly worked it back so my foot could learn the motion but its shorter. might be usefull to give that a shot for people who are new
I watched all the ollie lessons and I still can't figure out where I'm wrong. I did the steps a million times and feel I got a good hang of it, and I actually do manage to jump once every few tries, but the problem is my board spins behind me and either goes out of control or I land the ollie 90 degrees sideways. Now before you jump, no it's probably not my shoulders. I've looked around on the internet (there's actually a Braille video about this too) and most say don't turn your shoulders. Well I did every trick in the book and it still turns. I even held on to a crossbar in front of me to ensure my shoulders stay pointed forward but my board still keeps turning. I just can't understand where I'm wrong. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks for the answer first of all. I think I'm doing it right. I did the second step a million times and I'm consciously trying to push my foot straight up the board. I filmed myself doing it but it's to quick for me to figure out, since I'm obviously not an expert and can't really analyze it. I don't have slow mo on my phone :-/
That would happen to me a lot too. The secret is keeping your leg that slides up very straight. Without knowing it, you’re slightly shifting your weight to one side and that’s why you don’t land straight and do like a little angle.
you might be scooping the board with your back foot rather than popping straight down, maybe try popping the board up with only your back foot on the board, get it to go straight up and strait down
Also, I know it's a bit difficult as a new skater, but just overall, jump more. After you get the motion, just try to do those motions whilst jumping higher. It's really hard to get an ollie if you stop your jump just as you pop you tail. So as soon as the tail hits the ground you need to ligt that leg up into the air like you're jumping with one leg. Otherwise, regardless of what you do with your front foot it wont go any higher since your back leg is there to stop it.
I think the biggest issue i saw with a few of her earlier ollies happens to be the same problem i had when learning heel flips. she was dipping her head rather than keeping it over her body. typically the board ends up behind you when you dip your head.
This method of practicing can and should be applied to anything you are trying to learn. REPETITION IS KEY! When I was learning a particularly difficult song on the guitar, I would literally practice it measure by measure. Just repeating the same measure over and over for about 5 minutes builds the muscle memory and is so much more effective than trying to take on the whole thing over and over. Great concept!
my own opinion on sbms is that when I did it I was alone in my house hold when it came to skating and I usually skated in my basement on the cement floor and I do admit that prepping myself at home with just a video and re watching to the point where I have everything memorized does help Bc when I started skated I started when it was winter and I live in upstate new York so ya know we got some snow. so the only spot I skated until spring/summer was my basement and when I first went out skating with my best friend I did achieve my first Ollie finally with his help Bc the thing that the Ollie video doesn't cover which was my problem was the "how to pop step" which is what she was struggling with too. so if u explained how to pop on a skate board in the videos then it would be better but other than that if u wanna start skate boarding its good to get u into the skate world but nothing can teach u better than another friend that skated longer than u
jump! what the f*&%, aaron. JUMP forward. yeah, kicking your leg out is great, but unless you JUMP in that direction you ain't never getting dat ish to level out.
I think the one thing about skateboarding made simple is that it may be more useful than like other tutorials, but it's so much better to actually have someone with you trying to help you out, because it's the littlest things sometimes like aaron saying specifically what motions to do, and different people need different tips. Sometimes that tip might not work but someone simply describing it a different way can be more helpful
I never had a tutorial when I was learning and I slammed my board down hard back and forth so much lol then I kinda started to learn to jump same time then next I learned I needed to do what he said drag my foot but gosh it took me months to Ollie. Then I had problems keeping it straight but with practice I got it and determination because you have to be determined to do anything in skatboarding and never give up.
Hey braille skateboarding! Can Chloe hold a camera? Is she looking for a job? She's already better than Lance at ollieing so she will progress past him on filming and editing real quick! Ride ride ride!
This video is a bit biased because the creator of skateboarding made simple (Aaron Kyro) wouldn’t upload a video saying skateboarding made simple doesn’t work..🤦🏽♂️
This video was made to show that it works, not an actual test. For something to be biased, it has to be based in opinion. Maybe if he was reviewing SMS it would be biased, but just showing that it works for a beginner skater is not biased in and of itself.
it DOES work, so even if the video WAS biased it would still be factual. I've never seen any other trick tip videos break it down to a science like this, with the practice steps and shit, wish I had something like this when I was just learning how to skate, even today i'm learning a few things from the more advanced SMS videos.
funk you bruh don’t you know? She’s gonna hit him up on twitter and then fly out to give him a sweet UA-cam Bj.. that’s how thirsty Betas white knight for sustenance .. duh
If you just (while standing next to your board) slam on the tail the board will go flying up and backwards in the air. When you ollie that is all you are doing but then you use your other foot to push it forward so your board just goes up.
I thought to do a ollie you had to go high on your board and i was struggling with that but now i know you only have to have all wheels of the ground for even 1 second makes me more confident
Super cool that more ladies are skateboarding. Excited to see how it will evolve skateboarding. BTW what the heck was all that clicking in the background?
thx now it s my first day skatin and i just learned my ollie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im so excited btw my class loves u guys were from belgium btw

It’s a good idea to start skating late in life, that way you can get a head start on your knee and back injuries before you hit retirement. Hey if you break your hip at 34 you can learn to use a walker before you get real old.
Spooby already have knee problems from rugby and back problems from work. Had them for years so I already have a headstart... Annnnd I can tre flip lol
Damn I´m 50 an I'm taking up skateboarding I don´t give a rats ass what people think. Its all just attitude anyway

I love how like supportive you are with people who are learning to skate! The world needs more people like Aron.
Take the trucks off a board and skate over marbles
kiwi898 Riefe that sounds fun
Sounds dangerous. You gotta figure for any reason they need to bail, their feet will also likely land on those same marbles. Unless maybe you filled a designated area with those said marbles.

Ben Stevens I do not agree
Yes they need to add some compression to their main audio channel. A channel with this many subscribers should be aware of this
yeah @Gabe you should put the audio on the compressor effect on audacity or something like that
FIRST TRYYYYYY!!
I love how happy she is with her accomplishment at the end. That's SKATE. Good job, girl. It took me weeks to learn this shit lol
Dude whoever thought this was good background music....

Nothing wrong with it, if anything, it’s better than blasting music and not being able to hear the instructions

that legit was one of the best first ollies ive ever seen, like normally u get like half a inch off the ground and call it a win. This was a nice like 3 inches off the ground
Yeah For real! Maybe those skate trainers really do help get you technique down. I always practiced in the grass as a kid
Skater trainers help a lot with that
It was pretty high for a beginner ollie honestly
Same.
I have just been practicing in my basement on the carpet and it's working out great.
Ohhhhh, I forgot that it was almost Christmas and all the kids are home from school. I couldn't understand why the comment section was so moronically toxic today.

This is kinda inspiring, especially for me, someone who has never set foot on a skateboard (wanting to learn for summer time).

These videos are super helpful. Thank you for making them! you inspired me to start skating.
Game of skate with rock climbing shoes...
I ran and grabbed mine and yes, they have rubber in the right places. DO IT!
omg. that would be painfull ...
I'm curious about if it would be though, Like, maybe don't make them as teight as you would for climbing and it should be ok.

All the tricks I learned and perfected all started from Braille and sms. Thanks Aaron!

Literally after watchin these Braille videos so much when I got my first board i could already Ollie first try. It just comes to some and others not

I'd have to agree. There's no explanation of the 'pop', which is super crucial, and makes the front foot sliding up the board possible
Something that is also missing from every one of their instructional videos is weight distribution.
No tutorials tell you to pop as you stand and jump either. I was trying so long but just popping after I crouched. Fixed my timing, got ollie.
in his other vids he actually did teach that
Hey aaron (and all of the braille guys and gals) don't know of this is gonna get to you, but I just wanted to say that you DO help new skaters a lot. Boob counter.... sorry...couldn't resist...

He is such a caring coach 😂
The real question is “Does Skateboarding Made Simple Get You Laid?”
JayJAG Getting laid made simple?
JayJAG So basically, "Does skateboarding get you laid?"
yeah it has you laid on your back, all bruised up
JayJAG wow aha
Huh, Oh yeah. Ive been laid like 5000 times now thanks to "Skateboarding Made Simple"

i got a suggestion for the ollie many people keep there foot way too far to the middle when i learned how to ollie myself i put my front foot on the bolts and slowly worked it back so my foot could learn the motion but its shorter. might be usefull to give that a shot for people who are new
Goin home knowing how to Ollie is a great feeling in deed
Brail you deserve 10 million likes because skate boarding made simple is good
I watched all the ollie lessons and I still can't figure out where I'm wrong.
Maybe you are flicking your foot the wrong way try and flick forward you might be flicking sideways
I’m on the toilet making a stink
you might be scooping the board with your back foot rather than popping straight down, maybe try popping the board up with only your back foot on the board, get it to go straight up and strait down
Also, I know it's a bit difficult as a new skater, but just overall, jump more.
Already better than Lance!? What?! #SKATEGODDESS? 👀
I think the biggest issue i saw with a few of her earlier ollies happens to be the same problem i had when learning heel flips. she was dipping her head rather than keeping it over her body. typically the board ends up behind you when you dip your head.
i feel like no tutorial i've seen had ever said that it will ultimately just feel like you're jumping
watching people struggling through and being successful is pretty damn for inspiring beginners, makes me wanna go learn now
Do you feel like you’re ollying?
Chloe: yeah I do
Well your NOT!
P85037 L 😂😂😂
This method of practicing can and should be applied to anything you are trying to learn. REPETITION IS KEY! When I was learning a particularly difficult song on the guitar, I would literally practice it measure by measure. Just repeating the same measure over and over for about 5 minutes builds the muscle memory and is so much more effective than trying to take on the whole thing over and over. Great concept!
Braille skateboarding is the best
Had to watch just to see cute Chloe! :-) You rock sister!
Shes wearing the same shirt from 3 years ago
Haha it's true.
Music While Gaming she never took it off
Wait omg I didn’t know that it’s the same person
oooooohhh broo!!!, i react just like you when i see her do that ollie, you are the best and her too!!!
Its not really skate boarding made simple because aaron is there 😅
my own opinion on sbms is that when I did it I was alone in my house hold when it came to skating and I usually skated in my basement on the cement floor and I do admit that prepping myself at home with just a video and re watching to the point where I have everything memorized does help Bc when I started skated I started when it was winter and I live in upstate new York so ya know we got some snow. so the only spot I skated until spring/summer was my basement and when I first went out skating with my best friend I did achieve my first Ollie finally with his help Bc the thing that the Ollie video doesn't cover which was my problem was the "how to pop step" which is what she was struggling with too. so if u explained how to pop on a skate board in the videos then it would be better but other than that if u wanna start skate boarding its good to get u into the skate world but nothing can teach u better than another friend that skated longer than u
Chloe looking at my man like he a snack
No
Is it just me or do we need more Chloe in the videos even if its not even about skateboards hahaha. 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 love the smile Chloe!!!
jump! what the f*&%, aaron. JUMP forward. yeah, kicking your leg out is great, but unless you JUMP in that direction you ain't never getting dat ish to level out.
Exactly!!
Yup you have to jump
Mos’ def’ agree...Aaron fails to mention lifting the back foot up with the jump.
He doesnt explain how to pop propperly wich is the biggest part he just worries about sliding the foot up
Dead on. The board is only going as high as your feet go for an Ollie.
The way she looks at him at 8:43 😂😂👌
I noticed. Soo infatuated
I can’t wait till christmas!! 5 more days and I have my board !!!
I gotta say she seems more humble and cuter than that "pro snowboarder" girl >_>
Eric M she’s really not...
Mate, anyone can ollie better than Lance
Lol “can she hold a camera”
Her ollie sucks lmao ur high
she can ride me everytime
Thanks, trying to teach my gf to ollie, I like your method, hope it works.
Came for the chicks, stayed to learn tricks.
Stayed to listen to clicks.
I'm a total beginner I followed the steps and tried it and I did it in 20 minutes thanks mate
Do you teach her how to skate a door?
If you Ollie in the kick flip foot position it’s easier to control the board I’ve learned. And it helps with kick flips being higher.
This video is a bit biased because the creator of skateboarding made simple (Aaron Kyro) wouldn’t upload a video saying skateboarding made simple doesn’t work..🤦🏽♂️
Robbie Beswick I think he released the video more to show that it does work than to test IF it works
Sounds like an Ad Hominem fallacy.
Yes because he makes money off the videos so this is just an ad for his shit ahaha
She's such a quick learner !!!!
Bruh she is stunning af 😍
thirsty beta
funk you bruh don’t you know? She’s gonna hit him up on twitter and then fly out to give him a sweet UA-cam Bj.. that’s how thirsty Betas white knight for sustenance .. duh
Kodak Philly Stacks agree
Your profile picture is gay as fuck
Lol i thought she was ugly
(Known how to Ollie for a couple months)I wasn’t evening out my board when I Ollie you Learn something new everyday thanks
That clicking noise is annoying
alex c its music
I thought it was my hamster eating 😂
If you just (while standing next to your board) slam on the tail the board will go flying up and backwards in the air. When you ollie that is all you are doing but then you use your other foot to push it forward so your board just goes up.
That's gotta be a wig
Gecko actually Aaron’s hair is 100% real
Madcowkiller it looks too silky smooth
Gecko who cares...u never kno why
If it is, maybe she's going through chemo or just got done with it.
It's her hair, she just dyes it.
I thought to do a ollie you had to go high on your board and i was struggling with that but now i know you only have to have all wheels of the ground for even 1 second makes me more confident
AT LAST...MY GENDER IS HERE!!
Super cool that more ladies are skateboarding. Excited to see how it will evolve skateboarding. BTW what the heck was all that clicking in the background?
music 0/10 - sounds like gab playing wooden spoons
This video REALLY helped me with my ollie, still working on it though ;)
Where did this chick come from? She is easy on the eyes. She did a good job on the ollie too. Hope to see more of her!
