Depending on your gaming platform of choice, you might be used to spending anywhere from zero to $60 for a video game. But rare games are often much more valuable.
For instance, Stadium Events is one of the rarest games of all. It was only on the market for a short time before Nintendo bought the rights to it and rebranded it for the Power Pad. Or EarthBound, a classic RPG Nintendo launched to little success on the SNES. Its hero, Ness, would rise to fame later thanks to Super Smash Bros. Nintendo World Championships is a special game cartridge made for a tournament Nintendo held in the 90’s. It contains short sections of a few games and tournament winners got to keep their cart.
Legend has it that Atari buried a stockpile of E.T. cartridges in the desert because it sold so far below their expectations. Turns out the legend is true, but buying an unearthed cartridge will cost you big bucks. Mario didn’t just star in Super Mario Bros. in 1985. In the rare game Wrecking Crew, the plumber trades a wrench for a hammer as he knocks down walls. The Flintstones had a rare outing in a game that may have been exclusive to video rental stores.
Little Samson is a platformer that lets you swap between four characters on the fly. It has a lot of good ideas, but it came out so late, not many NES owners noticed it. Another late-comer on the NES is TMNT: Tournament Fighters, a fighting game that also happens to be the last game Konami ever made for the console. Bonk’s Adventure is a fun game about a caveman-child with a giant bald head. And Donkey Kong Country got a special limited release for a national tournament put on by Blockbuster.

Got enough ads in your 13 minute video??
I don't think they're in control of how many ads play. That's controlled by UA-cam!
you decide how many adds to use in a video. YT standard is 3 (beginning, middle and end) but you can choose between 1 and... not sure whats the limit. But if a video is filled with them, it hurts more then it helps. This guy is just greedy and have simple no idea of most things he talks.
Games like Wrecking Crew (PAL) costs about 45€ and it's not a rare game.
unsubbed
Adblockers are your friend.
Ever hear of ad blocker? Been a free youtube user for many many years and never see any ads.... EVER! haha

wrecking crew on the nes is literally $15 on eBay. There was a graded sealed copy that sold for like $4,000 but that doesn’t count lmao
The title of the video is "10 rare video games you'll never get to play" I get to play Earthbound on my Snes mini.
You mean SNES classic
@@julianeliassimonsen8730 Super nintendo entertainment system, yeah I got it right
Pikachu Comments me too, and I had it on Wii U which was like...$10...and I even ordered earthbound on snes the other day so... (it isn’t a fake cart, and it was $160...totally worth it tho)
It means the cartridge not the virtual console

"Never going to own an original copy".
You might still end up owning a physical copy, but its likely a reproduction as opposed to original. It's very common practice.
yes
I actually got really lucky with Earthbound. I really wanted to play it for a long time, and I finally convinced my mom to buy it for me in 2007. It was cartridge only, but authentic. We got it for $70. I haven’t checked prices recently, but I remember checking back in like 2012, and the cartridge alone was around $200

Ikr, they are so dumb. I bet they are not even gamers.
I relatively recently went through my collection of SNES games and found Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel. Ended up getting about $300 for it on ebay. Was pretty surprised to realize it was worth that much.
The daycare I went to in the early 90s has Stadium Events with the floor pad.
I'm sure it died long long ago
10 Rare Video Games You Will NEVER Get To Play [Without Emulation]
I know right?! Hehe.
But then, instead of wasting thousand of Dollars on a useless Mac, you could also buy the real thing again :)

killingyu It’s an emulator for multiple consoles, including PS1 and should be fine on a Mac Mini :)
buildbot.libretro.com/stable/1.7.1/apple/osx/x86_64/RetroArch.dmg
Wrecking crew for thousands? I look on ebay and there's complete sets for $50.
Yeah you'd barely even crack $100 for a complete 5-screw version. That seriously hurts credibility when you say a barely even uncommon title is worth thousands because it shows that this person got second hand information and threw it out there without even validating it. Good show.
That's what I thought.
I've got a near mint copy of Wrecking Crew...smiled for a few seconds, and then verified. I hate this video so hard.
I got a complimentary (and legal) digital copy for the 3DS due to purchasing the console before the big price drop. So I got to play it legally (and 19 other classic NES and GBA games) for the launch price of the 3DS.
PLUS you can get it for 5 bucks on virtual console for 3DS and Wii U

Emulator:"Am I a joke to you?"
Nintendo: Say sike right now
Just stopped by, because I saw the title, and wanted to say, “YOUSA LIAR”!
I played the championship ver. of DKC in 1994-5 when I was 10. I was in a mall in Aiken, SC and there were rows of televisions lined up each with DKC tournaments being held. I played, and although I didn’t win, I was given a complimentary gift - a VHS tape titled ‘DKC [EXPOSED] The Making of Donkey Kong Country’. Awwww Nostalgia... 👌🏾
So because you happened to play one game that means the whole video is a lie or that the game isn't rare?
salvatore stabile the fact that most of these are currently downloadable makes the title a lie lol. The title should say "probably never own"
I did the same thing at a mall here in Toronto and I got 2nd place and won a bike.. it was based on who got the most bananas
@@joemattox7525 True.
nothing that emulation can't fix..
Travis Boyko you damn right!! =)
I have all these except Earth Bound but in my case these are all software based games via the use of emulators such as Mame32, Mame64 or others.
Exactly, I have every one of these games on my wiicube 👍🏻
That's why he says if you want a box and manual....
there are alot of websites still it will never come close

EarthBound is available on Mini SNES and Virtual console
Shaun McLaren I have the nes version, same game just a little different on a few enemies.
Bullshit, you don't have Earth Bound (or Earthbound Beginnings as it was later renamed) for the NES.
FUTURE10S um yes I do, no need to get all mad and start a fight. My dad was in the Navy, as a kid I spent alot of time traveling with him, I still have both famicom and super famicom, and my orginal nes and super it's just a game dude..lol😎 geez breath. I don't care really how much games are worth, they are my childhood, I keep them for that reason, I'm not trying to be mean or anything, hope I didn't offend anybody..
No, I meant that it's not the same game as EarthBound on the SNES. And you don't have Earth Bound for the NES either, as it never came out for the NES. If you do, congrats, you own one of the 5 or 6 prototype cartridges, and it'll be pretty obvious that it's different and it's worth a hell of a lot of money.
Just being a pedant, though. I have a NES and a Dendy, which is a Famiclone for PAL regions. Foreign games are fun.
Mikey smithos Yeah, Earthbound and Mother are more than "just a little different...".
"never get to play" .... Emulate
I played Little Samson on the NES when it was released in the US, and was really wowed by it at the time. I no longer have a physical copy (and the one I played all those years ago was borrowed from a friend, not mine, though I bought it from him later), but I played it on emulator recently, and it holds up even today.
They know emulators exist when they posted this vid...?
Having to drill a hole in your belt like that means you're losing weight, not gaining. Boy, I sure hope somebody got fired for THAT blunder.
Uncle Silver Gaming mumkey?
Sometimes the drill bit pokes through the belt and injures the reproductive organs of the wearer. They shouldn't be showing this procedure on the webtweets because children will see it and try it at home. They might hurt their little wee-wees and woo-woos. WOO WOO!
lol i know. oh well we all get stuff like that confused sometimes.
Uncle Silver Gaming You can put a hole in the belt the other way as well you know....
WHO PUT THESE HOLES IN MY BELT!?
I didn't know Grand Dad was a rare video game.
G R A N D D A D
Right
I mean it would be rare now because of the meme
lol
It's not I have a bootleg cart with it on it
I've played Stadium Events and Wrecking Crew before, decades ago. Time to change the title of this video.
Rare games you never get to play
Aptoide: im bout to ruin this whole man's carrer
Aptoide is an app that lets you download only android games and apps
Bonks look like krillin from dragon ball
Gus Martinez lol
That was my INSTANT thought when I seen him!!! Lol
Gus Martinez it is krillan 0-0
Red_Scout
If you want to be a smart ass, do it right. It's Kuririn, everything else is just a translation and only for the anime.
Simmer down now. Lol
I see what you did there...rare videogames...
On the thumbnail there's Donkey Kong Country and that game is made by Rare
I was kind of thinking the exact same thing before checking out this video. ;)
It says "competition cartridge" which wasn't released to the public
No because that's the competition cartridge which is a extremely rare game
Bold and Brash network has been emulated
Voltwein Sparkgrinder I have a copy of donkey kong country and its made by rare lol
Emulators: You do not underestimate my power.
I have actually played the bandai track and field, it was one of the games that made me want a nes. Once I had the NES, I had the powerpad edition along with world class meet
I miss them rental stores. It felt so much cooler goin out and seein all the different videos and games in person than seein them all digital. Alas we are so lazy we can not be asked to get up to go rent something. (Tho there are still some redboxes around some places.) I guess it also made the gaming community feel more alive in local areas when competitions like that arose in Blockbusters.
Yeah I'm with you there. I remember the days of renting a game or two on the weekends and playing with friends. Which is why I still only buy physical games and media. I am not into buying air. lol
I agree and the deals you get buying used. I bought so much of movies from blockbusters or movie company
Blockbuster video. Wow what a diff- NO HOW ABOUT THE FIRST CARTOON Fantasmagorie
Plus it kept pancake asses a little firmer.
Hardest GTA game to find GTASA PS2 2004 release before Hot Coffee !
I have a copy of that. I've never modded my PS2 so I can unlock Hot Coffee, but I do have a copy of it.
My mother still has the track pad and the game. To this day it still works.
0:18 On the far left is the stranger things guy LOL
Its no wonder so many people use adblockers, people like YOU force them.. and also me again.
Just wait 50 years from now. This video will be Rare. Im saving one for my grandkids 😃
Im going to start forging these video games and selling them in the black market. Want to buy a forgery of Stadium Events for 2 grand? Turn around and sell it for 10? sounds brilliant, right?
my kid in my neighborhood won that Donkey Kong country competition at blockbuster and got 2 weekly game rentals for a YEAR as a prize. It was awesome.
I remember buying "Final Fight Guy" at Blockbuster for mere pennies. Apparently, it was an exclusive of the game where you could use "Guy", swapping someone out the normal roster.
I have Earthbound on my SNES classic.
The Man Of Pixels The Super Nintendo System Entertainment?
The Man Of Pixels can I borrow it? I played it in the 90s but didn't get to finish it.
I have 3. One still in the box with guide. Though I have the other two guides as well
Me too!
Same with me I have it on the snes mini
I found the Donkey Kong Country Competition Cartridge on Etsy for 35 Bucks.
it's probably a reproduction cartridge
I played that game.. at blockbuster a guy walked up to me and said we are running a tournament game . He asked me if I ever played donkey kong country I told him no thanks I already beat that game 4 times.. he laughed.. he also gave me some X-Men Marvial cards.. I still have them there 1993. I came in 3rd place
Emulator enthusiasts: hold my beer.
Oh mah gash I have TMNT tournament fighters!
wow
I also have have that
Me too and many of my friends. Never thought of it as of a rarity
Nu uh
It's not rare you can buy a box snes version for 30 bucks
I got stadium events and have played it. I don’t really plan on selling it because I want to keep it for my collection
David Grohl I want proof
Me too!
ed champagne are you autistic. I would know which one I got and I got the rare one dumbass
Nice! Never met anyone who had a copy!
David Grohl Woah man that's rude.
Me: *hears earthbound*
Me again: what the"...... Its on the SNES classic edition
I have one of those and I also play dk country a lot
Bc it sold poorly in the 90's and it's rare and expensive to get earthbound on sale sure it's on snes classic but it's less expensive if you get the 3Ds version.
Thanks
Hmmmmmmmmmmm........
I had TMNT Tournament Fighters. It sucked. We already had a Sega Genesis (and loved SF II), but someone had bought it as a gift. Now I wish I still had it.
These are available through emulation
...which is illegal unless you can track down a physical copy in the first place (and arguably also then needing to dump the ROM yourself).
Compucles well yes but I'm just saying for a practical point of view every single one of these is available pretty easily for free... Outside of copyright laws of course... Securing a legit cartridges on the other hand is where it becomes near-impossible. At least for the ones that are several tens of thousands.
I agree the video is badly titled (many of them are also available either digitally or in a less rare alternate form), but you still shouldn't use emulation if you actually do want to play these games.
Compucles does it matter if its illegal?( just asking) i dont think people would pay so much for a game
Of course it matters. There's no excuse for breaking the law (unless you're protesting and/or rebelling against a tyrannical regime).
Only serious collectors are stupid enough to pay thousands for boxed copies or alternate or inferior versions, anyway. Most of the games (or an alternate/superior version of them) on this list can be acquired legally at a reasonable price.
Earthbound is on the snes classic edition. Ladies and gentlemen we got em!
Exactly.
So Donkey Kong Country is on Switch right now, no need for a cut up version lol 🤣
Thank UA-cam premium no ads no bullshit just the content you wanna watch
Wrecking crew is not worth thousands lol maybe a couple hundred complete, thousands sealed probably. Do your research! You are going to artificially inflate the value of this game now.
He's sitting on five copies.
actually I don't own the game at all
Not you the guy who made the video.
lol you're prolly right
100 to 150 usually for a complete copy. I got a loose one for 3 bucks about 5 years ago. Not rare at all.
I don't think I will find a copy of the original Bandicoot game for PS1 now that I think of it. I guess that Treasure Planet is still my favorite game for PS1 if that is the case.
General Grievous The Video Game Guy i have an original Bandicoot game i bought it of Amazon
If you want a copy you find in the wild then good luck its
rare.but you can get a copy of eBay or Amazon fairly easy.
Just download the game
@@speedwaypicutures.hammond8582 in the wild? Really? Are they in the woods living in dens?
I think my sister has it. She played it so much when I was young I never got to play anything else.
Also "Halo DS" Is a Game You'll Never Get To Play
My wife is a huge Bonk fan. She use to have all the Bonk games on turbo graphix or whatever that system was called. She still plays it on emulators from time to time.
funny how it says we'll never get to play these.. that I played almost all of these through emulators already
OP obviously never heard of emulators
I actually had the earthbound complete and the flinstone along with a couple others on this list
Same here, kicking myself now that I ever got rid of it.
That Flintstones game and Little Sampson look like it'd be fun even today if rereleased. I know i'd certainly give them a shot.
There's also the Star Fox Competition Cart that works the same way as the Donkey Kong Compo Cart.
7:23 ...which we know better as a now memetic bootleg named 7 Grand Dad...
FLEENSTONES?!?!
Greed Island anyone?
Adin San poor (W)Dwun.

xHiTTmAN 408 Could actually be a jacked version but I don’t know much....
I paid $20 for a box of old Nintendo games and consoles ranging from NES to the Cub. One of the games in the mix was Wrecking Crew as well as a hand full of my childhood favorites. Talk about a score.
Earthbound is on a 154 in 1 cartridge for the NES. This is how I managed to be able to play.
wait... what?
Earthbound is an SNES game...?
You May need to research before filming lol wrecking crew...
His definition of rare seems to be that it costs more than $59.99.
I agree i actually own wrecking crew with box and manual and when he said thousands of dollars i was like wtf i never knew that was a valuable game, alot of people had it on the nes so i checked the price, here in sweden u can get it with box and manual for Everything between 60-100 dollars.
Ya I still have my original wrecking crew cartridge
ha yea this channel fails in terms of retro knowledge.
game and manual 31.99 USD, box 6.00 USD. thats literally tens of dollars!
I remember going to a friend's house when I was young and he had stadium events .
Earthbound - One of the best games I rented from Blockbuster!!! 👽
Netflix has killed the pleasure of owning games.
I still enjoy it.
how?
Practically everyone can play Earthbound now (via emulation or Super NES Classic).
When I was a kid I play Donkey Kong Country all day everyday I actually missed that game
Loves this list because I played them all when they first came out. I don't have to own them.
5:35 they didn't exactly bury it in the desert, they brought truckloads of it to a landfill which became buried, because that's how landfills work
10:43 He looks like Krillin from Dragon Ball...
Played Stadium Events and remember it well, I owned the big box of Earthbound, played Bonk, and I actually won the blockbuster competition for Donkey Kong! Got a real nice framed certificate and a card that let me have 2 free game rentals out at a time. I remember the other 2 games being Judge Dredd and I think NBA Jam or some kinda basketball game.
Are you the "Two time"?!??!? 1993-1994 Blockbuster video game champion in the online gaming community??!?!?
Lol I've played SO MANY of these games and I'm only halfway thru and up to wrecking crew... which btw, is one of my favorite games, love wrecking crew! The music with the golden hammer is awesome!
At 00:15 ....is that "Steve"??
7:09 7 Grand Dad: The Sellout Sequel.
Wow. My cousins had stadium events. Never thought it be worth something now.
I have been...dumbfounded over how much the prices of these old video games have skyrocketed in recent years. I remember when they were just old games on dead platforms that nobody cared about. That's how I got most of my collection. Nowadays if I had to build what I have from scratch, it would cost a small fortune. My copy of Resident Evil on Sega Saturn for instance, only cost me $10 secondhand a little over 10 years ago. I see that same game going on ebay for well over $100.
I've actually played the original dk country
[Gd] Azelf 👌
[Gd] Azelf same
Wow. So have millions of other people.
I was the Midwest 2nd place finisher for the contest. Lost by 25 points...
😥
Why not just emulate all of these games?
because its not the same as having the real thing
paul beach the title is games you'll never get to play, not own.
o haha
There's something about having something downloaded, and having a copy that you can hold.
I only recently started downloading games on my Xbox One. Before that I always got discs and never thought I'd go to download only.
But I do still collect movies. 700+ Blu-rays and counting!
Because I'm a law abiding citizen. Besides, it defeats the purpose of collecting them.
I don't understand why people complain they don't get original experience with emulation. You need a CRT set aspect ratio and there you go. You can even buy USB snes controller etc.
"Top 10 video games you can't play"
Emulators: Am I a joke to you?
Stadium Events on the Nintendo Entertainment System should be number 1!!
YOU WILL NEVER PLAY THESE GAMES!!!
Because it's not like you can download roms or anything
People : hmm? Never get to play?
*goes to eBay and finds it on sale for $20*
everyone whos into games knew this already.... 1 out of 10 score for you today sir
theres a simple anwser to this vid: EMULATORS
Zacsolo Gaming the fbi is at your door
what i meant by this comment is that for all of you who want to experience what the game is you can get it on emulators. NOT create fake pirated copies of the game
if only snes classic was easy to get
...IF those roms were ever ripped.
they ARE ripped
I have tmnt tournament fighters!!!
I used to have it and the game was awesome.. I used to used Donatello and Michelangelo which his knunchuck dragon punch
Bruh I have it hacked on my SNES classic but I'm sure it's way better to have the original cartridge.
I played that version of Donkey Kong in the Blockbuster competition in 1995, Chillán, Chile. I still have the cards I won by taking second place in my city.
I just watched this. I own the power pad and that track and field game. My brother and I grew up loving that game. Is there a chance that it would still work today? I have to try
Never play you say? *Torrents every said game and emulates on their modified SNES Classic.*
Except that you don't need an NES classic or SNES classic to have every single game ever created for those systems on your laptop or computer.
Minecraft ps2 edition is rarer
Doesn't even exists
TheGamer: You can't play these games and you'll never will...
Emulators: _Ahem_
