What I liked about FM4 is that you started of from zero to hero, this kind of progression was killed in FM5 by starting with slower sports car that you've got in FM4 in the sportsman/semipro series, oh and this kind of progression that FM had later on in FM5,6 and 7 also affected the progression in horizon series after the 3rd entry
Sadly I think we'll never go back to the old "start off with a complete shitbox and end with the fastest vehicle on the planet" style of progression that older Forza Motorsport and older Gran Turismo titles used to have. Car models are more complex than ever and require even more time to create from scratch plus licenses for those models are getting more difficult to obtain. So developers can't just put whatever the fuck they want in their games anymore and the variety dwindles as a result.
@@Phenom98 You really gonna ignore the fact that grown ass adults with jobs and families play video games too and they usually don't have the time to grind out like they used to as kids?
My least favourite thing about FM7 is that they took the extremely linear career mode with the divisions and then turned it up to 100, some of them are nothing but a chore to get through. And then instead of the Cars being Auto-Upgraded to the Top of their class they now have the Homologation Requirements to meet which do absolutely nothing except make building cars for career even more limited.
I wish they'd go back to how the original Forzas were. Even the OG Motorsports had decent racing restrictions; such as cars with less than 300hp race, cars with weight over 4k pounds, Nissan Z cars only, Subaru vs Mitsubishi and so on.
Hated that the cars that didnt have a homologation were basically useless, and even more insulting that they put DLC cars without a homologation when a lot of them couldve fit in a group. Infuriating
FM4 is still the daddy - there was just so much to do and if you didn't fancy doing the curated stuff the world tour threw at you, there were dozens of other cups you could back out and do instead, all on one big, single-screen grid.

Maybe it's that I played online a lot, but a lot of the single player gripes Dustin had didn't really apply online. I've got hundreds of hours in FM6, and most of it was from online races rather than the pretty dreadful single player experience. The classes were so varied, and you'd see players in your lobby change up cars for every track. Because credits were given so freely, you were just racing for the fun of it and it was great. I remember having a S class Ford GT specifically for Old Mulsanne, a B class grip VW beetle and a C class Alfa P3 that only had 3 gears but was so fun to throw around because it was built in the 30s and had 300 hp. It's a shame the servers got shut down because the online racing was genuinely some of the best fun I've had playing racing games. It was great that it didn't restrict player freedom like FM7 did, and allowed people to build and tune cars. Something about the sound of FM7 sounds off, it's like they took the recordings they used for FM6, pitched them up, and then put EXTRA echo and reverb on it.
I think the main problem is that the racing game community is very divided, and can never be satisfied when it comes to what they want in a game. The three main groups “1. I want engaging experience 2. I want realistic sounds graphics and physics 3. I want a lot of cars and tracks” always confront each other because there isn’t one game that can implement all 3 at once. Gran Turismo 5 and Forza motorsport 7 both have over 800 cars. Great, right? Nope. Because the nitpicking people from Group 2 are going to criticize the low-quality models (even though I’ve been playing the games for such a long time and they never bothered me, I don’t even notice them). FM6 is a great game but the community isn’t grateful and it’s too pretentious to evaluate it properly.

Now yes FM6 was nowhere near perfect, especially since that the progression system was weird, narrow and had that “instant gratification” of earning a Bugatti or an LMP1 right from the get go. Plus I’ll admit FM7 had moments where it did better. But other than that, the racing part of it was solid, I’ve had some amazing experiences and memories from the online and offline mode. However one thing that many SHOULD agree with is that FM6 was a major improvement than FM5.
OG Motorsports still has an amazing track that was point to point and night time. The Pacific Shipyards. Set at night and was overall an amazing track, but was never used beyond the original Forza Motorsports. Same with their Tokyo Circuit.
Growing up has been realizing that more isn’t always better, that’s why I love games like hitman blood money that focuses more on quality over quantity (insert hitman franchise joke here I guess) it’s one of the reasons why I love a bunch of ps2 games they weren’t boasting a huge open world with nothing they had fine crafted levels and areas
The biggest issue with Forza is lack of proper structure. The idea of throwing player into world map with races peaked in FM4 and never improved ever since. Just imagine that they leaned into all "motorsport" theme and used upgrade system to increase immersion. Regular classes with PI limit should stay as a "open category" but restricted classes inspired by IRL racing series with appropriate race rulesets. Generally divisions from FM7 but done with effort. E.G. there should be racecar inspired aero kits (instead of static widebody instagram trash we see in Forza recently), cars should be elligible for multiple "divisions" with tag system instead of being restricted to single class, more limitations on allowed upgrades to enforce closer racing and builds more fitting visually.
I remember driving the black edition GTR in this game and won in a Nurburgring race in this game, I beaten a Lamborghini, and I also remember that I won the Bugatti at the start on that wheel thing (I am not joking about that)
Yeah so did I lol. I assumed the first spin was fixed, but I just recently started a new playthrough and I didn't get the Bugatti in the spin this time.
I really feel what you say at 16:00, I feel as though the ideal motorsport for me would be : You have that many races to finish this championship and progress in the campaign, and here's the events we propose you that your currently equipped car can enter. If you go to the auto shop and buy another car then the event roster will change to adapt to that car. There, that would be perfect imo. But it seems that the latest Motorsport still follows the FM5 / FM6 / FM7 campaign formula
Honestly, I still really enjoy FM6. I can't really describe it, but just the vibe of the game is something I've yet to find in any other (with FM5 being a bit closer). I would sometimes just sit on the main menu screen with cinematic shots of whatever cars I had playing in the background and listen to the main menu music, which I can't talk about enough. The music for 6 was genuinely amazing, especially the main menu theme, which just enhanced the experience for me. Granted, when I first started playing 6 I was just a little kid so I didn't really understand much about sim racing, physics, and all that, but I still enjoyed it immensely. Even after playing both the newer games and the old games like FM4, which I've seen many people praise a lot, I still found myself returning to FM6 just because of the feel of the game
The sense of speed and the beauty and realism of night and rainy races is a breathtaking combo. Racing first person in the rain following other cars closely feels REAL.

I really like your Playtrough/Review videos of the Forza games and it would be nice, if you would keep doing them once you have played through all if them. You could play gta-clones, like Sleeping Dogs, True Crime, Saints Row or the Getaway or even different genres, like the Yakuza games. Or if you want to keep doing racing games, there is still Drive Club, The Crew, Project Gotham Racing or Midtown Madness. I'm looking forward to your next videos, keep up the good work.
oh my god, this is the sole reason why I subbed to you last week, so good to see a new forza video. I discovered you by your forza 4 video and now I am watching almost all the other videos as well, can't wait for forza 7
16:20 I agree. FM4 was great in that once you finished whatever the career was called, you could see the chart of EVERY SINGLE RACE. And play them in whatever order you wanted
This was the first forza game I played. I was so addicted I mean every single day all day I was just messing around with cars and making liveries. It was to the point I was having dreams about cars and I couldn’t sleep I was tossing and turning it felt like a fever dream but yeah for like a week straight I would do what I needed to, and then just play this until like 3 AM. Great summer break.
6:08 Typical racing game moment: You in second place, first place in a shitbox rubberbands into the sunset and the other 22 AI´s follow closely packed behind :) Also wheelspins and Auto- Upgrades are just dumb, WHY???
I hate it when games want to hold your hands and be one long tutorial instead of letting you choose what to do. I want to grind Sunday cup for 100 times in a row? That's my choice.
Forza 6 sucked and drove me away from the series for good, and I'd 100%'d every Forza Motorsport game since FM1. I gave FM7 a try though for a day and that only reaffirmed my decision. Even bigger ball of shite. Man, I enjoy these videos so much. Dustin, you're the only person that has ever made me consider using Twitch.
it will likely go undernoted but auto mobilista mode where you can look around the car in 3d and sometimes get little info chunks is a seriously nice touch . Hearing a little history or manufacturing fact about the headlights or engine etc is mint. sort of unique in the presentation
Starting without FWD cars is kinda lame for progression, I squeezed everthing out of my VW Fox in FM4 :) FM4 is still the best, And I can play it on emulator nicely :) FM5 and FM6 didnt do so well with some spects, but I think limiting these games to just one console robbed them of so much sales potencial. Horizon 3 which also released in 2016 got a PC port and I can imagine that sales numbers went to the moon. And after that Motorsport died because everyone played Horizon instead...
Forza 6 Apex has been completely overlooked and forgotten. Nobody has talked about it in 7 years. Great free game exclusive to PC. Get it for the achievements if nothing else, the medals are a blast to get and level up, it has a PGR kind of progression system. Amazing graphics even to this day.
I prefer working my way through a career instead of being given everything. Maybe forza needs and option at the start for one or the other for players?
I never liked the drivatar system either. Mostly because it's supposed to feel like a social online experience, when I choose to play offline specifically because I don't enjoy that.
as a racer of granturismo games and 2 project cars games when i gave forza motorsports 7 a try i ....just don't know it looked nice and played ok on my pc but the controls felt so heavy and unresponsive like i was always going to miss a corner that i could take easily in other games
I have 400+ hours on Forza 6 and it's clearly the GOAT: Sounds, Graphics, Career not complicated unlike Gran Turismo, more than correct content and especially the OST!
Best Forza memories for me in that game. I had the BEST crew of friends playing during that era. Sure the cars were hard to drive and the drivatars were pure allah hu albar but I loved how on edge you had to be for every turn and overtake.
FM2 and 3 not having night racing was insane to me, but finding out they didn't add either until 6 makes me glad I stopped playing anything Forza that isnt Horizon lol
Bit of a weird title after watching the whole vid. Sounds like you enjoyed it outside of the linear career (And I know other games force you to race tracks you don’t like; that’s not unique to forza) And automatic upgrades on purchased cars is a non-issue as we’re not forced to use it like that and forza 7 allows us to choose upon purchasing. Also, Forza now has the best drifting system partially thanks to their superior tuning system… I think the issue it that you miss the feeling of experiencing huge jumps in graphical and mechanical improvements. I’m sorry, that’s not going to happen anymore within modern tech until we all have $30,000 racing sims in our spare bedroom that occasionally produce rubber and petrol scents and can automatically dim our lights / mist us with water based on track conditions. 2 years after that happens, you’ll be complaining that the racing sim doesn’t move side to side and vibrate as you corner (tbf, for $30,000, it should). No hate. I’m still going to sub; just poking you with a stick for not liking it
Obviously the brakes are going to suck nuts if you just full send them and let ABS do all the work for you. I got much better lap times when I started treating ABS like a warning to tell me I'm hitting the brakes too hard. The line assumes that you know how to brake without activating the ABS.
Sometimes you want to make decisions. Sometimes after a long day of work of you just wanna sit down and grind out sooner hours racing with no decisions to make. GRID Autosport did the same thing. It's hard to feel like you are accomplishing anything, but that's not the point. The point is to just sit down and do some racing. And both games excel at that.
What people often forget is that it was a launch game with the new console, and that never happened before. No console ever launch with a " sim " racer. I played this and Ryse to death on day one... of the One. The " new " factor took some of the game's shortcomings in it's moment. It's the reason why 6 it's so heralded as saviour... when for some of us the reality was that it was fm5 on its completion
why whenever a game adds a track in Brazil, it's a fictional track, why not add Interlagos, and that leads to another question, why almost no racing game has Interlagos, it is one of the best circuits of the formula 1 season
Because you dont need to pay for a fictional track. In the case of Interlagos or even the Jacarepaguá from 80 s - you need to pay the license to use it... And sometimes, the price is not worth in the eyes of xyz game Studio 🤷
my brother managed to convince my parents to get an Xbox one when they came out, and it came with a copy of fm5, before I had a pc of my own fm5 and fm6 were a blast in a vacuum where no other good racing games existed and my young mind had no expectations. that xbox still has the messed up blue ray drive

FM6 also suffered from the frequent releases. I don't even remember playing that game. Somewhere in all of the craziness, I stayed locked in to FM4.
Honestly, certain things in FM7 sounds eons better than FM6, but certain things sound better in FM6 than FM7, it’s weird
@@iNathanLite nah it is most likely just luck
I'm familiar with FM6. It's my first Forza I've played on the new Xbox consoles. Can't wait for your Forza Motorsport 7 video, Dustin!
The sense of speed and the beauty and realism of night and rainy races is a breathtaking combo.
Racing first person in the rain following other cars closely feels REAL.
Hey Dustin if your gonna do a vid on FM7 please include the fact that it had loot boxes. they were removed later but still kinda shity
FM6 was the best of the Xbox One era. I just hope they go back to their old roots with the reboot.
Hey dustin eden. Idk if you will see it man but i must say thank you for playing midnight club la a while back. Because of that video, i went back to finish my midnight club la save using your strat and because of that strat. Im now the king of La. Thanks dustin eden. Love all the videos. I originally never got to finish midnight club la because the the ps3 stopped working a long time ago. Now it's working ♥ 🐀
"Content isn't everything"
Perfect counter-argument for most racing games today
21:35 you deserve a like just for including the apropriatingly named song "reasoning" from Persona 4 golden to the segment
7:42 I just brake into the yellow, not the red. Do the same thing for every track because often times, the red is way too fast. Works every time
This was the first forza game I played.
6:08 Typical racing game moment: You in second place, first place in a shitbox rubberbands into the sunset and the other 22 AI´s follow closely packed behind :)
Also wheelspins and Auto- Upgrades are just dumb, WHY???
have to disagree on this one, FM6 is not the best game ever but a improvement over fm5 was actually fun to play whereas fm5 felt like a console demo
Your statement isn't confusing at all
@@DSN262 might need to learn the language better then
@@freddiecraven To be fair, that’s what happens when you use zero punctuation…
FM6 was my first Forza game and having played FM7 and 5, 6 is the best so far
I got a stroke reading that 💀
2:40 Did you like the Brazilian streets?
Well im from Brazil
All they have to do is take FM4, and refresh it with fresh graphics and an updated car and track list and they have a 10/10 racing game again
No that's not how it works
There were night races in Forza motorsport 1. There wasn't a weather and time selectors technology permitting
Man, how do the only two condole-exclusive sim-cade racing titles on the market manage to peak in their fourth entry?
magic or spiting the countries that think 4 is unlucky idk
I hate it when games want to hold your hands and be one long tutorial instead of letting you choose what to do. I want to grind Sunday cup for 100 times in a row? That's my choice.
Forza 6 sucked and drove me away from the series for good, and I'd 100%'d every Forza Motorsport game since FM1.
I gave FM7 a try though for a day and that only reaffirmed my decision. Even bigger ball of shite.
Man, I enjoy these videos so much. Dustin, you're the only person that has ever made me consider using Twitch.
what games do you play now? i’m playing assetto corsa evoluzione which is gt4 career mod on assetto, looking for more to play though :)
i was a horizon player during the early motorsport days and now horizon and the new motorsport games are trash
it will likely go undernoted but auto mobilista mode where you can look around the car in 3d and sometimes get little info chunks is a seriously nice touch . Hearing a little history or manufacturing fact about the headlights or engine etc is mint. sort of unique in the presentation
Starting without FWD cars is kinda lame for progression, I squeezed everthing out of my VW Fox in FM4 :)
FM4 is still the best, And I can play it on emulator nicely :) FM5 and FM6 didnt do so well with some spects, but I think limiting these games to just one console robbed them of so much sales potencial. Horizon 3 which also released in 2016 got a PC port and I can imagine that sales numbers went to the moon. And after that Motorsport died because everyone played Horizon instead...
I literally redownloaded this just to do what I always did and play free play with Indycars
You can't get the game anymore.
I prefer working my way through a career instead of being given everything. Maybe forza needs and option at the start for one or the other for players?
And that's why I think original motorsport and 4 were the best
It’s a shame they never released the full version of FM6 on PC, great game
I never liked the drivatar system either. Mostly because it's supposed to feel like a social online experience, when I choose to play offline specifically because I don't enjoy that.
Forza hasnt made a good v8 sound since fm4. The new games sound like effects from a gameboy
5:09 not dustin calling the golf R front wheel drive lmao
11:30 FUUUUUUUUU-
as a racer of granturismo games and 2 project cars games when i gave forza motorsports 7 a try i ....just don't know it looked nice and played ok on my pc but the controls felt so heavy and unresponsive like i was always going to miss a corner that i could take easily in other games
yeah! i can't stand Forza Motorsport because it feels so floaty, like driving a boat
if i ever get the game, i'll give it a try. i hope to get FM5 to so i can check that out too.
oh and Forza 6 sound is better than Forza 7 sound
I have 400+ hours on Forza 6 and it's clearly the GOAT: Sounds, Graphics, Career not complicated unlike Gran Turismo, more than correct content and especially the OST!
Liveries are not available for me. How do you get this feature?
Wondering the same thing
in every forza motorsport you can in the first second of the race just enter settings and disable all assists
The indycar scene reminded me of the red bull x series cornering on the Nurburgring
Next Forza Motorsport is the demo when it come to this. Will you do a review to that one to??
It's crazy that Project Gotham Racing 4 had weather and night and it was before the Forza Motorsport, like wtf ?
I love playing this game. To me it is night and day in the way the cars drive from 5 to 6.
Still devistated that they shut the servers down.
I can’t believe this game is about to be 10 years old
Forza motorsport 6 is an underrated masterpiece
Best Forza memories for me in that game. I had the BEST crew of friends playing during that era.
Sure the cars were hard to drive and the drivatars were pure allah hu albar but I loved how on edge you had to be for every turn and overtake.
Damn, gta 3 theme at start hittin different
You’re the only person I’ve seen who mentioned that :(
Yoo whats that opening into background music I just had a core memory unlock.
FM2 and 3 not having night racing was insane to me, but finding out they didn't add either until 6 makes me glad I stopped playing anything Forza that isnt Horizon lol
Forza Motorsport 1 had night tracks.
That´s where he´s coming from.@@JubbLaRacing
Can you beat GT4 without cars?
Yes just play tourist trophy
20:41 Eden chanelling his inner Pastor Maldonado😂
I still love FM6, it also has the best OST in my opinion.
No hate. I’m still going to sub; just poking you with a stick for not liking it
I just realized the guy who did the voice-over for this game did the voice-over for the new FM as well..
That intro slapped me like a pile of bricks it’s so funny bc it’s so stupid and bc I completely forgot about it
Obviously the brakes are going to suck nuts if you just full send them and let ABS do all the work for you.
I did get the Veyron SS and 1 million credits in my first 2 spins😂
lol, i forgot 6 even exists... i played 5 and waited straight into 7 😂
Quality over quantity. More content doesn’t fully equal a better game
Love your video bro keep up the good work my dude and your always best bro
i actually loved this game along w nfs 2015 but the only downside is i had no ffb when drifting
I got FMS6 for my 14th birthday I really loved it (: it still looks great today and imo better looking than GT7, I love that game too tho (:
This was my first forza game (apart from demos) i still play it today.
How do you think the new Forza Motorsport will compare to FM 5, 6, and 7?
its shit...
FM6 is where I stepped off the bus. I really enjoyed FM5. But there was no justification to do it all again.
This FM5 game BGM like "hey, we go save the world, by driving car!"
6:00 that's just M.Rossi's skill
😮😮😮😮 i made it.... I finally made it got the notification finally 1hour after being uploaded 😂😂😂 BUT is better than 1 day later like last FEW times
2:40 what happened to Clarkson?
bro said FWD on a Golf R that says everything 💀
Bro doesn’t allow anyone of make any mistakes. You don’t need to be a car NERD to be able to enjoy racing games.
@@tommywang8229 that's right, you don't need to be, but that doesn't mean i won't judge you for it.
Even Forza has a obsession with jdm cars
@@IGAME-cd2lr wich is sad because if you have a big catalog of cars of all over the world why just give Japanese cars and 1 German car as starters.
JDM is kinda mid ngl
I had never played FM6 but did play FM6 Apex and it was fun for what it was.
