    omg perfect timing i just sent you a message over insta just kinda checking in and sending good vibes lol! hopefully it didn’t bother you, but i’m so glad ur back! i hope u were able to enjoy your time and relax a bit during that break, you truly deserve it!
    also i’m so glad you tried the matcha lemonade it is the perfect summer drink!! i even find matcha haters (who are wrong to begin with lol) tend to like it more than the latte! if you ever wanna do a twist on it, you could order a mango dragonfruit lemonade, no inclusions, and (for a grande) 3 scoops of matcha! (for a tall 2, for a venti 4) it’s a bit sweeter but i think the mango dragonfruit base also pairs very well with the mossy matcha flavor!!
    also it’s funny you bring up sustainability because it’s something my friend (a conservation biology major and avid environmentalist) and me (a poli sci major and advocate for combatting climate and environment issues but is admittedly a bit of a novice) talk about all of the time. we mostly take the standpoint that there needs to be change at a corporate or i suppose capitalist level however if we can make changes ourselves we will certainly try to! our big thing is that accessibility should be a key part to sustainability but certain aspects of it can bet very expensive or just not feasible for people to take part in! and if that’s the case, those who do have the ability to partake should not shame but rather advocate for more accessibility of the practices they take part in!
    anyway sorry for the long comment just really missed your vids! haha hopefully it doesn’t clutter up the section to much! great video as per usual! sending lots of love and good vibes !!

      Very good point about accessibility and shaming - I always cringe a little when self-professed sustainability gurus take on a 'holier than thou' attitude. Criticising/shaming someone for their choices is famously not a great way of motivating them to change their ways. And as you point out, making those choices is often not a question of motivation alone, so accessibility (which includes the availability of information and resources) will always need to be part of the equation. Which again goes back to what you said about also implementing changes 'top-down'.
      Thank you, Katie, to you and your friend for caring about these issues. The world needs you :)

      @@sophh3689 i appreciate you contributing to this conversation, i’m glad i’m not alone in thinking this!!! i feel like we often times leave out certain groups of people when talking about the benefits of certain lifestyles whether it be health wise, sustainability wise, etc and i think it’s unfortunate that people would shame rather than educate and advocate for the availability, affordability, and overall accessibility of these lifestyles!

    • @RemmeASMR
      @RemmeASMR  2 роки тому +2

      Oh my goodness, I love seeing you two interacting, haha! Hi, Katie! Hi, Soph! You both make fantastic points about sustainability + accessibility. There’s definitely a lot of classism & ableism at the root of the ‘green shaming’ trend. (Is that a thing? Like, is there a term for that? I feel like there should be!) And I feel like it’s everyone’s right to examine for themselves where/when/how they have the capacity to divest from systems of harm.
      In general, I’m into ‘taking my own inventory’ lately-trying to focus less and less on what others are doing on the individual level (bc you never know all the factors for them) and more on what feels good & doable for me …while ofc continuing to vote & volunteer in support of that large-scale, systemic change we need. So, the individual I have in mind when I talk about doing what one can is pretty much just… me!
      I still have so much to learn (talk about being a novice)! So to start, I’m trying to consider my areas of privilege vs. my areas of personal hardship and to make decisions from there. And I do genuinely want to reduce my single use plastic consumption in all practicable ways-but on the other hand, my morning Starbucks run is CLEARLY one of the consistent joys of my life right now! Haha, so there’s that! I’ll get there, bit by bit.
      Anyway, I so appreciate and resonate with each of your thoughtful perspectives-in particular, the need for balance & humanity (and holding larger entities accountable) of which you both speak. Thank you so much for sharing!
      And thanks again, Katie, for the drink recommendation! Now I’ve got a whole other matcha variation to try, I’m so excited! I really feel like I’m getting the inside scoop with those instructions, lol, so thank you so much! Lastly, thanks for reaching out to check in-that’s incredibly kind (and not annoying in the least)! I had to reckon with some burnout but am feeling much better.
      Wishing you both a wonderful weekend! 🥰💕❤️

      @@RemmeASMR glad to know you’re feeling a bit better but always take time to rest! we’re a patient community i promise haha! also i appreciate your explanation of your personal journey towards a more sustainable lifestyle and i definitely definitely see myself identifying with that explanation!
      also a suggestion to reducing single use plastic at starbs (as well as cost) is getting a venti of something (such as a matcha lemonade or latte) with no ice and then storing it in the fridge (if u have the space) and adding ur own ice per serving! i’d say a matcha lemonade could last up to 3-4 days freshness wise same with the an iced latte (with a non dairy alternative)! coming from someone who works at a starbucks the company honestly doesn’t need more money and in a similar vain that could also cut back on like using gas to travel to the starbucks every day!!! just a thought! however some people love a daily routine and even i myself enjoy going on drives and grabbing coffees and teas and such so if that’s for you i get it! for me, that can be very therapeutic! just thought i might offer that suggestion! also if u decide to try this- i would suggest adding an extra scoop of matcha to whatever you order without ice to compensate for the extra liquid in the cup!!!

      You’re always coming through with the brilliant suggestions, Katie!! Thank you so much! I will definitely try this, especially with your blessing. (I’m always anxious to over-customize my orders, bc the baristas are endlessly busy at any given Starbucks in L.A. and I don’t want to hassle them!)
