- The Scout Pro 2 makes easy work of finding connection faults potentially saving huge amounts of time. The screen is easily readable and the command buttons are easy to use. The Scout Pro 2 will diagnose connection faults in ethernet, coax and phone line networks. Apart from the needlessly difficult task of opening the battery cover the tools are well made and do their respective jobs. Find it on the Home Depot website by searching for this unique reference number, 311866332.
As someone who makes cat5 and 6 ends alot. It's much easier to line up your wires, cut them even, and push them all in at once. One at a time takes way too long.
Also, it's good to use strain reliefs with your RJ45 connectors.
Thanks for the pro' tips, Michael. I need to practice more.
@@PicRic Sure thing.
Yes much easier that way. Every now and then it can be a pain 😂😂
Me again. I was able to prove to myself that the cabling was good. My boss isn't here to show me so yay I did it by myself with your help.
That's great feedback, Lora. Thanks.
Us old cable monkeys just use our snips to strip the cable instead of a cable spinner/stripper. After 25 years I exceeding rarely ever nick an inner wire. A spinner can nick the inner wires too occasionally though. And I would never cut off both ends first. Usually you can see right through the clear plastic RJ which end has the messed up wires. Unless both ends show messed up wires. Just making extra work for yourself. I much prefer a tester which will actually tell you where the damage/issue is, especially when working on a terminated rack. If it says 10ft or so, it’s bad on the rack, if it reads, say, 150ft, it’s on the user end out at the desk/other rack/cabinet, whatever. Makes life so much easier. If it reads 80ft and the cable is 150ft, that’s when it gets really fun because somebody either pinched or burned the cable up in a ceiling or under floor somewhere. Finding the break sucks. But these can be handy little testers. I believe the 3 version will tell where the split/open is on the cable.
That's not to say that progress is bad though is it? My little home network has seen a lot of changes over the years and a seldom used and pinched cable can cause all kinds of issues. Given that, I was keen to try this tool and thoroughly pleased with the technical ease of use. It comes as a kit so I wanted to show the accompanying bits too and what better way than to use them. I have since done the same on an updated version of the Klein Tools Scout Pro 2 Kit. You can enjoy that one here, ua-cam.com/video/IzKDN-huvIQ/v-deo.html ,DAZ. Thanks for your input!
I love this.
Thanks, Lora. There are plenty more review and how to videos on my channel, please, subscribe and ring the bell at top right to receive notifications of new content.
Ty for video
Grateful for your comment and thanks for watching, Rene.
Good video, it would be a million times better if ypu talked through what you were doing.
It probably wouldn't actually ... Anyhow, what do you need help with?
Can anyone explain what the split means ??
Yes, I can; It refers to split pairs, Aaron. The full explanation is available in the instructions if you don't already have them, data.kleintools.com/sites/all/product_assets/documents/instructions/klein/Scout_Pro_2_Instructions_EN.pdf
