For anyone having issues with the CLEAN UI addon not working try using the other version: 1.2.1 and remember to download the 1.2.1 ini file too. It's installed the exact same way
My game works completely fine with Gshade and all of my mods until I add the CLEAN UI addon, I've tried both 1.2.3 and 1.2.1 versions, but no matter what my game gets stuck on loading screen if I have CLEAN UI added in. Thought I should let you know as I think it might be the same for others? ❤
It wasn't working for me, but I figured out that with the new patch, which automatically opens the game with directx11 depending on your graphics card, I just had to uninstall and reinstall Gshade and leave directx11 checked (instead of changing it to directx9 like in the video), during installation. Also, the CleanUI addon has a version for directx11 linked at the top of the page so I followed the instructions on their page for that version and now everything's working perfectly! Nevertheless, this video was still SUPER helpful!! Tysm for making an updated video!!
@@breneithegemini5110 I didn't have any issues with it. Maybe try restarting your computer and if that doesn't work, you could try opening the game from the folder (the ts4x64 file) instead of the EA app. Otherwise, I'm not sure why it would be doing that. :/
i did all of this but the controls/bar on loading just won’t show up? i’ve re-downloaded gshade and clean ui 3 times and it won’t work. i even updated my computer.
**IF YOUR GSHADE MENU DOESN’T SHOW UP** Make sure your sims 4 game matches the DX setting selected @6:11. In the tutorial @MissLollyPopSims selected DX9 but if you did like me and selected DX11 (most compatible with newer computers) then you will need to enable DX11 in the sims 4. You can do this by going to the EA App and right click the sims 4 icon, under the menu tab you should see manage and then click properties. Under properties you should see a text box. Type inside “-dx11” (no quotation marks, keep the negative/minus sign ahead of dx11). Then hit save. Open up game and voila! The gshade menu should appear. Unless you change the corresponding hotkey (tutorial here @ ) its default should be shift + backspace, which you can use to open and close the menu whenever playing or taking screenshots. For those who want to revert back to dx9 or disable dx11. You simply follow the steps above to get back to the EA App and delete “-dx11” in the text box. Hit save, and now your game no longer has DX11 enabled. Hope this helps ❤
If my instructions still aren’t clear EA Answers HQ has a great tutorial on this. Honestly, it’s really easy and can be changed in 3 small steps. But still if you need help, a quick Google search on “how to update sims 4 to DX11” should pull up the tutorial.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! literally saved me T-T I've been following so many different tutorials for the past week just for me to get stuck at the game launch
I always find it more helpful to keep the version numbers on any mods I download so I know which last version I already have installed when I go to redownload and update the mods, so for that reason deleting the "1.2.3_" from the ReShade .ini seems like an unnecessary step that just comes down to personal preference, but doesn't have any real effect. Just commenting it because I see a lot of people say 'oh just delete this version number from the file name' but they don't mention it's just an optional aesthetic preference for your file names. Also at the Presets timestamp, around 11:10, I got really confused seeing the Off.ini file originally start off inside the Custom folder and then you quickly move it outside the Custom folder but don't say anything about moving it lol. I reloaded my game a few times after following this tutorial to see if the Off.ini file placement (inside or directly outside that Custom folder) matters and it does not seem to have any effect. So this seems like another optional aesthetic preference for how people want to organize their files. The GShade menu didn't have any automatic pop-ups for me when I loaded the game with it for the first time, so if anyone else has difficulty figuring out how to get the menu to initially open for the first time, try pressing the [Shift] plus [Backspace] keys on your keyboard and that should open the GShade menu. Then you can change the hotkey to your liking in the menu's settings. Lastly (sorry for the long message, geez lol), thank you sooooooo much MissLollypopSims!!! This tutorial is so helpful and easy to follow. I've tried watching a few other tutorials on how to install GShade and ReShades, and they all left me so frustrated or confused I nearly gave up hope of ever trying to install this, but your video helped me. I could cry, my game looks so pretty now, like I literally feel close to tears from happiness, this is gamechanging, thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!

my game wont load in, it stops at the blue loading screen with TS4 logo and freezes and then closes itself every time... i did everything right in the video but im not sure why it wont work uugghh
@@xadoreu are you sure it’s the files? Sometimes discord in the back does that to my game, but you might have to redownload it and follow this persons instructions 😞
IF YOUR GSHADE ISNT WORKING: make sure edge smoothing is OFF. If that doesn’t work, try opening the app from files meaning program files/ EA games/ sims 4 / game / bin / TS4x64 ! this should work - it’s the only thing that worked for me after hours of trying Also make sure u pressed DX9 and none of the other options when installing!
@@shaiilaa_ It’s in game options! After you press game options, go to graphics, then edge smoothing is towards the bottom right it’s the first option and turn it off, then press apply changes. I reccomend. If it still doesn’t work uninstall then reinstall gshade but make sure edge smoothing is definitely off!

Ah, I'm so glad I saw this video in my sub feed. Installing GShade is fine; it's when I try to add presets that I get lost, so this is perfect. Also, for those who use Microsoft Edge browser like me, when downloading the reshade effect shader toggler and get denied, if you over the warning in downloads, three little dots will show up to the right, so just click that and it'll give you the option to "keep" the .ini file regardless. 😊

The new 9/18 update make it so you have to choose Direct 11 now. My Gshade stopped working that day. I remembered as I was following this tutorial to get it back. Thank you

I saw online Gshade is not working right now. Probably because of the DX11 updates. You can revert back to Direct X 9 afaik and some people haven't been switched over because their computers aren't compatible. So some people might have to leave the experimental box checked at 6:05
@ThePrincetonFamily I switched to DX11 so do I have to tick the DXVK and as hooking I tick “Normal mode”?? Please I need help, my gshade overlay doesnt load when I launch the game
@@syd_the_syd I ended up doing the 1.2.1 and it worked, but the shading wouldn’t stay on. It was glitching and flashing on and off. I decided to just remove it.
@@syd_the_syd I was facing that same issue. I thought maybe I did something wrong so I restarted my game. As I was doing that, other comments here said to just let it keep loading. One person said it took them like 2 hours. Well when my game booted back up, it worked immediately, so maybe try that: restarting the game
hey this happened to me and i just waited 2 minutes and it gave me an option to skip the tutorial or not, then once u've pressed that u have to wait another 2 minutes and it should load. it takes about 5 minutes but definitely worth it

I’m unsure if this will work for anyone else’s game, but I was able to get the CLEAN UI addon to work by doing this: 1. Make sure you turn off edge smoothing before adding it to the game. (I tried doing it after, and every time I tried to turn it off the screen would go white and be stuck like that) 2. Download the 1.2.1 version of the CLEAN UI (the other one wasn’t working for me) 3. Start the game. Should work! Hopefully. Was a pain in the butt to figure it out.
I still can´t get the gshade to open up in the game, doesn´t show up at all but everything is installed as it should and the graphics settings are as they should.. Someone else having these issues?

if gshade menu is not popping up for anyone make sure you completely uninstall gshade first so that it doesn't conflict then when you re download first deselect dx 11 and select dx 9.

Why GShade won’t open on the Sims 4 Home Screen… I updated my game a while ago to DX11 via the Origin app, so when you install GShade now, you needed to tick DirectX 11 under graphics API. NOT DirectX 9 & not DXVK ! Great video though!
@@destinyberg3283just because you clicked dx11 doesn’t mean your computer is compatible. You will need to open your diaxg box. There’s a tutorial if you google “how to enable dx11 on sims 4” but basically you need to figure out if your computer can run dx11. If it can you’ll then need to make sure the sims 4 is configured to also run DX11 and to do that, you’ll need to enable it via the ea app. Which is what the person above is talking about. Again, the tutorial can be found if you google what I wrote. Or scroll up and see my most recent comment on here, I left a step by step guide ❤

This happened to me, it turns out mine was just trying to download and it wasn't done yet, press shift and back space not the one in the middle of your keyboard depends what you're using
@maddy.g01 Same! Mine got very glitchy as well but I'm sure somewhere in the video it explains how to help with the lag, I had a massive problem with interacting with my sims for some reason! If you ever run into this problem like me just press shift then click your sim while you do it.
My GShade no longer works, reinstalled it like you told me too but now the bar doesn't even show up. The new update has really ruined my game and made it impossible to play with shaders and I'm not understanding how to fix it.
So mine was doing the same thing, but I proceeded with the rest of the steps anyway just to see if it’d still work. Sure enough, it works. Now I don’t know if this will be an issue later on, but as of rn, following the tutorial and booting up the game, everything works pretty well!

Could it be that this is not compatible with the new EA app update? My ea app keeps crashing since the June update, and now I’ve installed Gshade and my game just keeps crashing once I’ve opened the gshade menu :( going to try again after the next update I guess!
If anyone is experiencing the problem of not being able to enter the gshade menu no matter what combos they try, here's what I ended up having to do (I switched to reshade tho, I tried gshade cuz I had the same problem with reshade, but ended up going back to it, since I couldn't make gshade to work no matter what) I noticed my game is running on DirectX11 instead of DirectX9 (what I've been installing the game on following the tutorial). I wasn't able to select DirectX11 when installing for some reason, so maybe try switching the game to DirectX9 and it might work that way then (settings, game option, graphics) If you do want to switch to reshade, just install the program with DirectX 10, 11, 12 selected (second option) and I had no problem with the reshade bar showing up for me (thank god cuz I spend 3 hours trying to make this all work)

😭 help plss For some reason after clicking the “install” for gshade I get this message that pops up saying “ Gshade was not able to install a symlink to your selected game. This usually means that your drives filesystem dose not support symlinks “ Then it says “please note that if this not the only game use gshade with you may need to install or readd gshade to your game saying the gshade installer or gshade control panel after any future gshade updates “

I did all this, step by step and when i tried to load up sims 4 I saw the bar up top that said the install was successful but my game froze, i couldn't even bring up task manager to force close, i had to restart pc, happened twice so i just uninstalled the game because i don't know how to uninstall gshade itself
I had to figure this out, but you have to open the app itself and click on the sides where it has different tabs/settings. The uninstall will show up. Not sure if that makes sense, but you have to open the app/desktop app itself.
I don’t know how to help with the issue of your game freezing, but to uninstall, you’re going to click on the Gshade app. For me, it’ll pop up with a yes or no option… click yes if it does for you and then it’ll pull up the home page. Go to the “Tools” tab and at the bottom it’ll say launch Uninstaller. Idk about the next steps because I haven’t tried uninstalling, but hope that helps!

If you are having a problem with white screen after pressing alt+tab this might be the source of the problem. I could not figure out how to fix the white screen until I delete 2 files for Clear UI. Do not download the Clean UI T.T
I'm loving this tutorial, thank you so much! Also , REALLY would love to use your gshade preset, but for some reason the mxao doesn't work for me? All my other presets work with the mxao, but yours is the only one that doesn't 😢 and it's enabled, edge smoothing off, post processing on and all that.
Hi there so i watched the whole thing and i had reshade installed but wasnt working idk why so i just went with your tutorial i followed each step since the last time i installed reshade was with your tutorial from last year the thing is everything went according to what you showed except when i opened the game the bar that usually shows up didnt show up i tried to click on the button that opened it that for me was home button when i had reshade and nothing happened, idk what to do do i unistall reshade and just stay with gshdae? pls help and always thank you cause you are very detailed in your tutorials

Awesome tutorial! I followed it all the way through and got it all in. My only issue is it appears the Reshade Effect Toggler isn't working. I still see shadows behind the UI. Any tips?
@@maliamolck8635 Oh that's even more weird.. these are some of what could be the issues according to the creators post: So far here are the things that can cause the issue: > Post processing Effects is disabled (must be enabled). > Edge smoothing is enabled (must be off/disabled). > Selected Vulkan/DXVK API during Reshade/Gshade installation (must select DirectX 9). Maybe you could check these options and see if any of these apply to you?
For those that arent able to see the Gshade Ui pop up when you start the game, try out Direct 11 during the gshade installation instead of Direct 9. Different directs work for different versions I assume. If 1 direct doesnt work try another.

The new 9/18 update make it so you have to choose Direct 11 now. My Gshade stopped working that day. I remembered as I was following this tutorial to get it back. Thank you

I saw online Gshade is not working right now. Probably because of the DX11 updates. You can revert back to Direct X 9 afaik and some people haven't been switched over because their computers aren't compatible. So some people might have to leave the experimental box checked at 6:05

If you follow the instructions to the T and find your UI Mod is still not working, try the 1.2.1 version! That worked for me ^^

@@syd_the_syd I ended up doing the 1.2.1 and it worked, but the shading wouldn’t stay on. It was glitching and flashing on and off. I decided to just remove it.
@@syd_the_syd I was facing that same issue. I thought maybe I did something wrong so I restarted my game. As I was doing that, other comments here said to just let it keep loading. One person said it took them like 2 hours. Well when my game booted back up, it worked immediately, so maybe try that: restarting the game

when i load up the game and then click the button (shift+backspace) go get the set up up it just keeps loading??? every other tab but home loads !!!
hey this happened to me and i just waited 2 minutes and it gave me an option to skip the tutorial or not, then once u've pressed that u have to wait another 2 minutes and it should load. it takes about 5 minutes but definitely worth it

I’m unsure if this will work for anyone else’s game, but I was able to get the CLEAN UI addon to work by doing this:
1. Make sure you turn off edge smoothing before adding it to the game. (I tried doing it after, and every time I tried to turn it off the screen would go white and be stuck like that)
2. Download the 1.2.1 version of the CLEAN UI (the other one wasn’t working for me)
3. Start the game. Should work! Hopefully. Was a pain in the butt to figure it out.
I still can´t get the gshade to open up in the game, doesn´t show up at all but everything is installed as it should and the graphics settings are as they should.. Someone else having these issues?

if gshade menu is not popping up for anyone make sure you completely uninstall gshade first so that it doesn't conflict then when you re download first deselect dx 11 and select dx 9.

Why GShade won’t open on the Sims 4 Home Screen… I updated my game a while ago to DX11 via the Origin app, so when you install GShade now, you needed to tick DirectX 11 under graphics API. NOT DirectX 9 & not DXVK ! Great video though!
I clicked dx11 and nothing pops up I click the dx9 and it pops up but the home tab won’t load all the other tabs will
@@destinyberg3283just because you clicked dx11 doesn’t mean your computer is compatible. You will need to open your diaxg box. There’s a tutorial if you google “how to enable dx11 on sims 4” but basically you need to figure out if your computer can run dx11. If it can you’ll then need to make sure the sims 4 is configured to also run DX11 and to do that, you’ll need to enable it via the ea app. Which is what the person above is talking about.
Again, the tutorial can be found if you google what I wrote. Or scroll up and see my most recent comment on here, I left a step by step guide ❤

hi! my game got stuck on the loading screen, and the bar that’s supposed to show up won’t show up on my screen.
This happened to me, it turns out mine was just trying to download and it wasn't done yet, press shift and back space not the one in the middle of your keyboard depends what you're using

So mine was doing the same thing, but I proceeded with the rest of the steps anyway just to see if it’d still work. Sure enough, it works. Now I don’t know if this will be an issue later on, but as of rn, following the tutorial and booting up the game, everything works pretty well!

hi! had a similar problem, try being on windowed screen and not fullscreen, u can change that option in the game graphics in settings

Could it be that this is not compatible with the new EA app update? My ea app keeps crashing since the June update, and now I’ve installed Gshade and my game just keeps crashing once I’ve opened the gshade menu :( going to try again after the next update I guess!

If anyone is experiencing the problem of not being able to enter the gshade menu no matter what combos they try, here's what I ended up having to do (I switched to reshade tho, I tried gshade cuz I had the same problem with reshade, but ended up going back to it, since I couldn't make gshade to work no matter what)
I noticed my game is running on DirectX11 instead of DirectX9 (what I've been installing the game on following the tutorial). I wasn't able to select DirectX11 when installing for some reason, so maybe try switching the game to DirectX9 and it might work that way then (settings, game option, graphics)
If you do want to switch to reshade, just install the program with DirectX 10, 11, 12 selected (second option) and I had no problem with the reshade bar showing up for me (thank god cuz I spend 3 hours trying to make this all work)

I did all this, step by step and when i tried to load up sims 4 I saw the bar up top that said the install was successful but my game froze, i couldn't even bring up task manager to force close, i had to restart pc, happened twice so i just uninstalled the game because i don't know how to uninstall gshade itself
I had to figure this out, but you have to open the app itself and click on the sides where it has different tabs/settings. The uninstall will show up. Not sure if that makes sense, but you have to open the app/desktop app itself.
I don’t know how to help with the issue of your game freezing, but to uninstall, you’re going to click on the Gshade app. For me, it’ll pop up with a yes or no option… click yes if it does for you and then it’ll pull up the home page. Go to the “Tools” tab and at the bottom it’ll say launch Uninstaller. Idk about the next steps because I haven’t tried uninstalling, but hope that helps!

If you are having a problem with white screen after pressing alt+tab this might be the source of the problem. I could not figure out how to fix the white screen until I delete 2 files for Clear UI. Do not download the Clean UI T.T

Also , REALLY would love to use your gshade preset, but for some reason the mxao doesn't work for me? All my other presets work with the mxao, but yours is the only one that doesn't 😢 and it's enabled, edge smoothing off, post processing on and all that.

Awesome tutorial! I followed it all the way through and got it all in. My only issue is it appears the Reshade Effect Toggler isn't working. I still see shadows behind the UI. Any tips?

So far here are the things that can cause the issue:
> Post processing Effects is disabled (must be enabled).
> Edge smoothing is enabled (must be off/disabled).
> Selected Vulkan/DXVK API during Reshade/Gshade installation (must select DirectX 9).
Maybe you could check these options and see if any of these apply to you?

For those that arent able to see the Gshade Ui pop up when you start the game, try out Direct 11 during the gshade installation instead of Direct 9. Different directs work for different versions I assume. If 1 direct doesnt work try another.
