Step 3. I agree that this is the hardest part of the whole process. Planning and tapping into the creative side of things is a struggle sometimes, but I suggest you just do it. Sit down, grab a cup of coffee, and just start jotting down whatever comes in mind to get your creative juices flowing!
I love this video and most of your other videos (I haven’t seen them all yet). We are in the planning stages and I’ve been noticing we have been in the planning stages for a very long time. I'm in the planning stage. I hold a lot of client meetings as the main source of my work, but converting my actual "services" into another format is really hard. I'd love to provide some live workshops in the future.

I am working on selling the products I've made for my membership site. For non-members they can buy templates and tools without the support of the membership site. The membership site is where I'm going to keep the most up to date resources I create or come across. My audience is authors and small presses who need to save time and create systems.

It's actually more effective to be on the platforms and on your website simultaneously. You can price your items higher on your website then on the platforms but it is crucial that you cross advertise using both.
why would you price higher on your website than on platforms, just curious because i would think it's the other way around?

Focusing on just what the topic of the product I'd sell is the hardest part for me. I have some experience selling ebooks via Amazon and, even though one of them does okay as far as ranking in its category is concerned, it really doesn't bring in much money. The other two ebooks get virtually no sales at all, so obviously topic is an important consideration. Any suggestions on this aspect?
Jonathan, have you built your sales funnel for the books yet? Aside from Amazon what is your main source of traffic? How do you invite new people to learn about your paid offer? If you haven’t started on yet an email list is always a value assets to build. Even if it starts with a list of your closest friends and family. Maybe gift them with a chapter or two of your book and ask for an Amazon review in return to help build book awareness. Brewing up some more ideas for you…
I've come across people who do this without an audience.
Essentially, what they do is market research to make sure there is demand for their product, and then they advertise the product through FB, IG, or Google Ads.
Do you recommend people go about I this way, or build an audience first?
Creating products is not a problem to me, I love it and have many ideas. I have created several coloring books (and digital coloring pages), finishing up editing my debut novel now too. But the problem is the sales - I have a very small audience on UA-cam and Instagram and I rarely get any sales on my products, unless I run ads - but then there's no profit. I have started making a writing a novel course to share on Udemy but am losing interest quickly as I am worried the work is not worth it if I don't get any sales again, although I love the topic and love creating the graphics for it.

I'm curious what your thoughts on Amazon's fees are. I've done some virtual bookkeeping and have seen just how much the company can take. It seems excessive to me.

Editing is a huge part of the process. I'm lucky to have an amazing editor for my videos but if you have to do it yourself it definitely is a time suck

Ahh the editing...With my first course, I thought I could do everything myself, but as soon as I got to the editing part I realized I needed help. It was summer, so I hired my brother and his friend (they were students in their first year of college at the time) and showed them how to edit the videos. It made a huge difference and felt so refreshing just to shoot a video and hand it off. Great point Gillian. If it's a large course, you are probably going to need editing help.
