Both are great bikes. But, I'm part of the tribe. I have the Indian Super Chief Limited and zero regrets. Mine has the stage 2 performance kit and in sport mode it really moves. I would have liked more specious saddle bags, but it's no big deal and can always be easily changed. One of the things that had me look at Indian vs HD is that most Saturday afternoons 9 out of 10 cruisers you see are Harleys ridden by office workers dressed up in leather, buckles and chains. To each his own, but that's not me. Bottom line is you can't go wrong purchasing either brand. Ride safe and enjoy the road.👍
I was attracted to the look of the Indian and felt you get more for your money. I also like that I'm not another Harley rider, I don't care about the HD culture and they are everywhere so my Super Chief stands out, I haven't seem another one in my part of the globe. Locking bags would be nice but it wasn't a dealbreaker for me and I love the look of them. The touchscreen display is really cool. Love my SCL!
I have a 2018 Heritage that I purchased new. For an older guy like me, the Heritage is light and nimble. If you take the saddlebags, rear seat and windshield off, you have a Softail Deluxe. I made quite a few modifications and upgrades on mine. I can't say enough good things about the bike. Also, there are a lot more H.D. dealerships around in the U.S than Indian. if you don't want to pay the full price of the Heritage new, I always recommend buying a used one with low miles.
I've got a 2016 Heritage Softail that I like very much, although I've ridden the 2024 version and the suspension is so sweet on the 2024 that nothing else really compares to it. That's a very comfortable bike. No cruiser has a big enough fuel tank but 18 litres is the absolute minimum. I would not be happy with the small tank of the Indian. The fit and finish of the Harley is much superior, but eventually Indian should catch up. I believe that the multi purpose digital display will be available soon on Harleys and that will be nice.
If you plan on riding more than 4hrs? I would strongly recommend a Road Kind special. Used. You can get a touring seat, locking saddle bags and more comfort over the lighter frame. It all depends on how far you are planning to ride..
No doubt at all My favorite Motorcycle it's The Amazing Harley Davidson Softail Heritage Classic!!!, Excellent explanation and video as well, Thanks You sharing 👍👊✌️!!!
The softail heritage classic is a great looking bike. The Indian Super Chief Limited has quick release saddlebags and windscreen also making it two bikes in one.
Wow, my two favorites if my foot works better. I have a good friend with a 22 Suoer Chief Limited. Hes a former Harley man and he is all about the Indian now. He has ridden between CA and Arizona several times and he just LOVES his bike. I think it looks incredible, that big engine just looks bad ass.
I definitely have to test ride that Super Chief Limited Roger. I am a fan of the 116 after having ridden it in the Springfield Dark Horse. I reckon it'll feel even more potent in the Super Chief.
@@BikesILike my friend Mitch has out 10 inch mini apes on his and has made some kinger fenders and painted them, about to paint his gas tank. He's an artist, 38 years in California prisons, from age 17 to 55. Incredible person, very good friend. His channel, Hard Intentions is really serving an under served community. Anyway, he loves his bike!!
@@rogerwilliams2629 I was thinking I'd probably put those bars on too. I think it'd make it more comfortable for me. I'll see if I can find his channel and check it out!
As owner of 2021 heritage I must warn about additional cost with extra parts. For instance, crash bars, stock grips are rubbish, especially if you want heated grips. Stock exhaust is quiet, not really harley sound. I think the biggest expense for most new owners is quality exhaust. Another item is often new windshield. Handling wise I am always nicely surprised how nicely it handles. Although I would be very interested in testing the indian too. In your place a would decide only after testing both.
Thanks for the owner feedback I really appreciate it! Yes I don't think I could really make a decision until I ridden both. Two very attractive motorcycles in my opinion.
And Better Dealer network and a lot more aftermarket parts,I love Indian, but lack of dealer in my area made me go Harley Davidson,I love my Sport Glide it suits my riding style and has multiple looks
@@BikesILike I've found it really good despite the smaller travel and the digital clock is amazing and all that they've cramped into it, I own a Chieftain and before I bought it, I tried most of the Harley and Indian range before settling on my bike. I found the Indians handle far better out of the box than Harley's do.
I prefer the Indian Chief over the Heritage Classic, but I don't want to have to pay for non-locking saddle bags I'll never use. If I were to choose a lesser Indian, like the Chief Dark Horse, I'd lose the saddle bags, but also the spoke wheels I want. Another Chief may have spoke wheels, but it won't come with the touch screen and ride command. I also don't like that it doesn't have a dedicated break light instead using the turn signals as break lights. This is the first year for the Super Chief, maybe they will fix some of the most complained about issues in the future.
I've ridden the 116 in sport mode on the Springfield Dark Horse and let me say I'm a fan. It can only be better in the lighter Super Chief chassis, I need to get a test ride!
Spend a couple of grand on some good rear shocks for the Indian and it will ride better and still be cheaper then the Harley. You also forgot to mention about all the tech that is on the bikes which, the Indian wins hands down. The only way to really know which suits you better is of course test riding both of them.
Each bike has its own ups and downs but in the end it's the bike which attracts you more. It's like love at first sight. I will go with the Chief. ❤️❤️🔥🔥
@@RobGray-q1o Very happy with my choice. Now have 13,000 km on the bike and still loving it. This video might help explain my decision. ua-cam.com/video/n-Ku5b4qgow/v-deo.html
If I have to buy one it will be Harley Heritage or Roadking. The Harley engine looks beautifully made, it make you remain looking at that engine and it raise questions, the whole bike is head turner. The Indian it just look like a Harley.

Definitely happens to me too. Problem is all bikes are good in a different way and one wants all of them.

Good point on stripping it down and having two bikes for the price of one Kenny.

Both look good, if I was cashed up and able to buy in this price range, I would probably lean towards the Low Rider ST
Yes! The ST is a very nice option

Glad to hear you're still enjoying your Sport Glide Ross!
I've ridden the Super Chief, it's an excellent bike and handling is very good, if I had the money I'd have one in the garage.
Great to hear! How did you find the rear suspension for comfort and ride?

wish HD would give up the studded look
I’d go a used 2017 Victory Judge and spend the savings on a new Triumph Speedmaster!
Nice choices!
Indian is coming on strong throughout their lineup but between these two the Harley would be my choice.
I'd still want to test ride both before making a decision.
what was your decision?
I ended up buying a Chief Dark Horse 116
