Two years ago I came to Iceland and rented a small camper van for 7 days for $560. That is $80/day for lodging and transportation. I stayed in safe parking lots, so no campground type fees. You can pay about $5 and get a shower at campgrounds even if you don’t stay there. There is a Costco in Reykjavik so I bought groceries, which kept my eating expenses down and allowed for a restaurant dinner each night. Everywhere takes credit card; no need to exchange money. A really great trip. Travel doesn’t have to be fancy or overly expensive to have a good time.
Exactly. When tourists think they know everything best, that is strange. I'm an Icelander and pay 30 USD pr. month for unlimited heating for the house and all hot water, unlimited. 50% of Icelandic cars are electric cars and that's almost free. I lost my health. Each month I have about 2800 USD. For information Iceland uses the same econimal system as Scandinavia. All Education free and Universities free for everybody, free healthcare and good social system. The most peaceful country in the world. Americans call this system communism. But the right thing is that this is a social democratic dystem.
I just came back from Iceland, only spent 1 day in the capital though. You dont go to Iceland to stay in the capital, you go to explore the island and its beauty. Highly recommend you go back to visit the nature it offers, one of the best experiences of my life. I travelled from Canada.
Iceland is one of my top 10 favorite countries🇮🇸 My things to do list in Iceland 1. Visiting the capital city Reykjavik 2. Travel around the golden circle using the camper van 3. Blue lagoon 4. Glacier hike 5. And of course chasing aurora borealis I'd prefer to rent a convenient a car and buy your own grocery supplies and cook your own food because it's expensive dining out. I heard some rental companies may provide butane stove so do your research on that.
We visited Iceland last year and did a road trip around the whole country. My 3 favorite places were landmanalugar, the west man island, and the Westfords. Some other highlights, kayaking around the glacier bay near diamond beach. We loved horse back riding in the mountains. And hiking the volcano! The glaciers are beautiful, do a tour to hike it! It is an incredible country! So many great places!!

Yesterday Iceland reached 394,000 inhabitants and some 2.3 million tourists expected over 2023. That young man toward the end is so right, and the young can't or few can make that downpayment on an apartment
Hey Brett first of all really thank you for doing such an amazing content throughout , but boy I do not know have you somehow read my mind ?? for the last couple of days I was doing some homework on Iceland and was planning how much I will have to save in order to afford a trip to this beautiful place on earth and boom I see you uploading a fresh content that too on Iceland. I visited Iceland in October 2021 during Covid, and loved the country. Yes, everything is very expensive there, including the restaurants, so I survived off those great hotdogs which cost about $4.25 at the time and cooked food from the supermarket at my hostel. Are the hotdogs really more than $7 now? There's a bus from the airport into town that costs much less than a taxi. What I liked about Reykjavik is that there were walking paths everywhere, so I could walk anywhere that I needed to go. An awesome walk is out to the Grotta lighthouse. Very close to the lighthouse, there's a pool of thermal water where you can dip your weary feet for relaxation while looking at the bay. There are several swimming pools around Reykjavik, and I recommend a daily visit to each one to dip in the hot water.
We are going to iceland from May 6th to 15th and just finished all the bookings. Actually we found some really good Airbnb's and Hotels for less then $150 per night for 2 people. I think the most expensive hotel we booked was on the last two days in the city it was $204 per night. If you book 1-2 months in advanced you'll be fine! You can find some good deals
Great video. I’d love to visit Iceland. It looks gorgeous. In the UK it’s just under $9 a gallon where I live. Much more in southern area’s of the country. 👍❤️🖖
Hi! You should consider trying the $100 and $1000 in Krakow , Poland. Nice people, salt mine, craft beers, great architecture and the city was voted the best in EU for remote work. And for sweet tooth - definitely Wedel chocolatier shop/cafe:)
I just returned from there, loved the city, as for food, some food halls did have great food at reasonable prices. This will be my one and only time there.
Wow Brett, in such a short amount of time, you gave the "real" experience of simply being in Iceland. I've seen so many videos of ppl's trips there but NO ONE spoke of the actual prices. Maybe one nomad did but I liked how you interviewed the two subscribers who gave an honest perspective of what it's like to live there. Very informative. I was hoping the Hot Springs would make the list but I see now the budget would not allow it!!!! LOL
My recommendation and depending what time you land at Keflavik airport is go strength to the Blue lagoon. is only 25 mins away and closer than the capital. excursion are expensive and will take up half your day I was there last month when the sun set at 23:30
i went and stayed in a guesthouse that had its own kitchen for guests so i would get groceries from bonus and cook my own food most of the time. the only food i did buy was a cup of lamb soup which was £15 but soo worthit!!
This is about the same or more than I could get in Ontario, Canada for $100 in 24 hours. I live in the Waterloo region and a Big Mac meal is $16 with taxes in. Great video!!
Went to Iceland a few months ago, spent about $4000 for 5 days. Food flight hotels everything. Was worth every penny but I did go overboard with eating ALOT of food. Haha
As far as fast food in Reykjavik and surrounding communities, they have Subway, and probably other US based stores. They even have Ikea and Costco there!

A hotel or Airbnb in Iceland won't cost you 400$ per night, that's just completely untrue. The only way it would cost you that much is if you book it 2 days in advance AND if you come in peak season (July to September).
Just start with your cell use your cell IPhone or android record things then once the subscribers come then you can get cameras to move forward because once you get so many subscribers the UA-cam checks will start coming in 😀 good luck
Nice video. I think what u said about the hotel or Airbnb being roughly 400 dollars a night is a bit on the high side lol. There’s definitely plenty of places you can find for between 150-250 dollars. But yes there are some that will be 400 or more
if we would have access to international banks and had the euro our prices would definitely be much lower. our interest rates and inflation are always way higher than in continental europe
