Nice day of work 🤘 Btw one suggestion about french panes with a loose frame like at the end of this video.. Try using one of those pressurized air-in-a-can cleaners that you use to clean keyboards. Wash the top, spray downward to get all the water from behind the frame, then continue down 👍 I hate those frames too. Especially the ones that you can't remove.
Love the video, Steven!
Alan wow awesome tip! I wouldn’t have thought of that, thank you!!
Thanks!
Here's an old WCR video about it! ua-cam.com/video/jOKnwQc-akw/v-deo.html
Solid tip. TYVM!
@Chrislon Smith I haven't personally started my own service/business but if you'd like my opinion... Transparency and politeness go further than price for a lot of customers. People seem to prefer hiring contractors that they feel they can trust and who is honest about the service they offer. And as for sometimes feeling like quitting or feeling like you just don't wanna do it... I love being a window cleaner, but I'm also a person who struggles with motivation sometimes. It's okay to not feel like working every now and then. If window cleaning makes you hate your life, then it isn't for you. But if you just don't feel motivated sometimes, that's totally normal. Best of luck to you!
Been washing windows for a few years now, and you’ve shown me there’s a better way.
Thank you.
I love this new style of video your doing, it's great information for everyone. The ladder rack on your van is sweet! I can't believe you didn't break any of thoes tough screens. Thanks for the tip on double cleaning screens. Stay safe hope work doesn't slow down too much for you.
Prentice HTX thank you! Work is doing ok but definitely down from what it usually is this time of year.
Good tip about double cleaning the screens. I've run into that too recently on extremely dirty screens and wasn't sure what I should do. Thanks!
its so relaxing watching these
Good work SteveO!
I dig this style of Video. Thanks Steve O
More to come!
Sectional ladder all the way.
I use a tack puller to pull off screens and I use it to help clean window tracks
Glad you got some work coming in for ya, trying to find business during coronavirus is hard! Gonna have to start calling up some old customers and ask them if they want the outside only cleaning cause we lost like 80% of our commercial.
We've been doing mostly exterior windows and explaining to our customers we can come back at a later date to complete the interiors. This seems to be working out well as most understand the situation. It also helps if you can take credit card over the phone or have an app setup to accept cc. Servicefusion is pretty good for this and scheduling your workload too.
We lost a good amount of commercial as well, it’s going to hard for a lot of stores for a while.
Im starting my window cleaning now 🤟🏻
Sometimes I just have ur vids playn in the background witha rotation of horror audio books, CTFDN (Chilling Tells For Dark Nights) and preach'n... Yeah I luv a good mixed variety! Haven't found one vid where I didn't learn something...tysvm
🤓👍
Those cheap grid windows are the worse! Especially when they’re loose and leak 😒
It’s nice to see your working👍
I'm sure that plastic screen tool was cool and expensive but I've been using the same paint can opener for years and it was a free gift from the guy at the paint counter at Home Depot.
Thanks a lot Brother '.
I personally use the Ettore stainless steel squeegee handle with the screws and bottom bracket removed as a screen tool and it is by far the best thing I’ve found.
It's a great way to give an otherwise worn out tool extended usefulness.
I think i want to start a window cleaning business!
You should, start up cost is not too bad anywhere for $50.00 to $500.00 will get you started. I have been at it for almost a month and I have 6 customers that are 2x months 1 customer every 3 months and I am working on some deals with chain stores. The work is out there you just got to go get it.
That’s great,
Can i join with you.please
Where Are YOU From,
Me too!!! I live in Rome, I love this videos, I want to start a window cleaning business too🤩
Just a tip for those who don't want to spend anything on a tool that helps take screens out Super easily. A butter knife. Used it for years. Never a problem. Gets into the corner without damaging or scratching any of the frames. Push the spring in on one side, slip the butter knife in on the other side and it pops out very easily this way. Just what I do. I know that it's not the only way by any means.
We found a paint-key works extremely well and stores nicely in our pouch.
I normally keep one putty knife on me and one in the truck at all times. Last resort... my pocket knife. I've bent a few frames using a flat head screw driver because of the amount of pressure on a small area. Thanks for the video.
Gabriel Gonzales it’s rare I need to bring a flat head out for screens, putty knife is my favorite overall but forgot it on this day 😤
I been thinking about adding it to my pressure washing services , I’ve already got the windows cleaning stuff like the bucket, scrubbier, squeegee and extension pole and a ladder
Thought about the same thing, though I would rather get an extension pole instead of a ladder
Great video Steve but IMo you need to get a a set of V top Ladders...
Great content...
Steve-O, you make it look easy and those will be happy customers.Steve-O, when you poled above the basement hole in the back, was that an Unger 0 degree squeegee set real loose for swiveling or just an excelerator? Also, Thank You so much for helping me out with my small order and also great job being so kind to help your parents out and get there windows beautiful.
Matt Clark hey Matt, the squeegee I was using was the excelerator handle with brass ettore 18”. Yes anytime, glad to help!!
I look forward to you i'm going to make some money this week
also grids like that I use spray foam glass cleaner
Newbie here. Thanks for all the info bro. Holy carpul tunnel. I enjoy the work but my hand does not.
Thanks for your Vid Steve!! big fan here, you've helped me a lot with my business as Im a new window cleaner going 3yrs now self employed.
Just wanted to know is there a paticular reason why you always do interior first?
My order for residential has always been
1. Screens
2. Exterior glass with WFP
3. Interior tracks and frames
Have you already made a video in regards to order of jobs? I cant find one
Thats what I use gg4, glass gleam glide and Dawn!
LoneCypressWindowCleaning Ortiz I think it’s got some nice slip to it
SteveO The Window Cleaner i like it and the customers love it!
11:27 Doors like this I don't even squeegee. I just soap them up and then finish them with a towel.
I soap, scrape, and water fed rinse. done.
Thanks Steve for the video. How do you handle the Cleaning of window sills? Lately this has been an issue with a couple of customers. They were expecting me to clean them. What do you recommend?
Hey Steveo! What are you listening to when you work!
For recurring customers, how often do they need to be cleaned exterior, quarterly?
Hey ,I am a window cleaning in the UK and I haven't mastered the gliding squeeze of technique .I just do vertical pull downs. It always leaves a bit off water all around the edges what it the best squeeze to minimise the water left behind after using my pull down technique ?
I find screens put wrong all the time 😄 flat head screw driver no problema señor a paint can opener is in my pouch at all times to remove screens stuff like that can't be forgotten at home😀👍
Warner 20 foot ladder
We'll done!🤷♂️
Kiezkollege Westside thank you! 🤠
Hello you have some amazing window cleaning content . I have some questions on the sizes of squeegee you recommended using for mainly resident cleaning. Also what is the pole you use that you can attach a squeegee or a mop to the end? Thanks so much for all the tips. I have been doing residential home cleaning since I. Was a kid and started my own business doing auto detailing and home cleaning!
If you have a chance it would be great to touch base thank you and keep up the great work!
Tom
A 14" channel is great for residential, here is the combo I use windowcleaner.com/steveo-s-squeegee-combo?pt=MY And for an extension pole I use the 12' trad pole with an Unger tip windowcleaner.com/xero-carbon-fiber-trad-pole-2-0?pt=MY
Any reason why you wouldnt use a water fed pole system for this job?
On the first house exterior only for $145, what would the price have been if doing the interior also??
Hi Young window cleaner here from UK and was wondering if someone can help me how the pricing works in the states because in the UK that first house would of been around £10 and I'm just amazed about the states prices. Do like your videos though they help me with equipment :)
Hi Steveo
When you fan with a pole do you loosen your handle so it moves side to side when you twist your pole mate? I'm struggling with this
Cheers keep up the great work 💯
I’m obsessed with learning how to clean my own windows. I live in a very big farm house with 8 very big picture widows, some on the 2nd story. How do you suggest cleaning a big picture window where you couldn’t reach across the whole window in one fanning? Plus, I’m not super comfortable on a ladder but will do the 2 big windows up there on one.
Look for a 10 foot extension pole and get a sponge and squeegee head thats compatible w the pole
Steve O I am trying to find a pole sander or something like it to use my 4 x 9 bronze wool pads on for pole use. Any info would help, thanks. John
I can't seem to find the track brush with the black bristles anymore. I have the one with red bristles and they're not as stiff. Is that one you've had for a while?
2:00 3:25 how to clean little window
4:35 long high window
Steve, You shouldn’t be putting that towel on your shoulder. Damp towels will eventually cause arthritis. I use lint free surgical rags . Consider putting a store bought hook on your belt for the damp rag or towels.
Throw the dry rag over your shoulder.
Neil Diamond
Diamond Building Services
pre-rag all day long" here in Europe(Austria-Vienna) fussy customers and rubbers get a bit of loven.
SteveO I need help! I already commented on another video but my company can’t afford to pay for insurance to get up on ladders. Pls help me find proper supplies to prevent streaking on pole work for expensive houses
why dont you use a pure water fed pole?
How do u clean those water spots from sprinkles that have gotten dry on those windows
What is "pre-ragging" (sp)? And thanks for the tips, I've cut my time in half when I do my windows now using your methods.
Pre-ragging is when you dry around the edges of the window. It can really cut down on detail time 👍 I generally will use a chamois instead of a rag
Hey SteveO what are those large grey & black towels you use?
Steveo essas escada que você tem você ja comprou assim ou mandou adaptar esses apoio ???
I want to know if pre cornering made the towel wetter faster as opposed to detailing after.
Isaac's games yea, I use my slop towel to Pre rag and have a separate towel for detailing
So you clean windows in the winter with snow?
Why not use the wfp here?
Hi Steve. What kind of towel are you using? I like the idea of the big towel. I know the blue huck towels are the go to for a lot of window cleaners but I think they don't absorb water like I would like them to.
windowcleaner.com/xero-fish-scale-towel-xl?pt=MY I would give these a try
@@SteveOthewindowcleaner thanks!
What do you do when its freezing outside like in winter?
I’d be doing pole work as much as possible.
How do you price a job by phone, my question is because I only work with commercia for now. That's why I don't have that experience recidential. I will appreciate your answer
Do you prefer the tool you're using here for steel wool to the new Maykker sleeve?
Philip Lewis I like them both a lot but for bronze wool I find the ipc holders pretty nice
Why no wfp on this house?
have to ask about the ladder stand offs. are they ment to stay on the ladder all the time or can they be taken off easy. I am asking only because we store our ladder inside the van Sprinter high top van.
andrew somers I keep them on all the time but you can easily remove them as well
What's that bar thing you have at the top of your ladder? I've seen it in a few of your videos and I thought at first it was part of the house you were leaning the ladder against, but now I see thats not the case
Its a ladder stabilizer from werner
@@SteveOthewindowcleaner perfect. Thanks. Most of the houses I will most likely work on will be brick veneer houses, I assume that this would work just as well on rough brick?
Why would you not use your water poles on this house?
How many total hours did this take you?
I had a $600+ job that took 7 hours.
I had a $220 job that took 5 because the windows were so filthy. Next time it'll be faster.
I guess times are just kinda random when you're just starting your company?
Hey Steve, what kind of shoes u use ? Thanks in advance
Nice vid. Hey u may have said it and I missed it. About how long did it take per house?
anthony montemarano 1 1/2 hours first home, about 2 for the second. It was an ok day
Steeevooooo🤙🏼💯
Is that blue rubber the new Moerman rubber? Any thoughts yet?
Terence Noonan no something else I’m trying out
HI I'm Edgar window cleaning .Where yuo buy the screen washer machine.
What kind of belt and attachments for belt do you use?
Kal Smitty ua-cam.com/video/CvxsoKKDf_k/v-deo.html
Hey there where can I get that thing you have in your latter
greeting where did you buy the screen washer from
windowcleaner.com/xero-screen-cleaner?pt=MY Here you go
looks like you using a unger ninja washer got one myself find the best, how do you rate it?
bob90347 I really like it for residential, good amount of scrubbing power, holds a good amount of water and looks cool 😎
Why not waterfed pole instead of using a ladder?
Does the resin just get too expensive over time? Im trying to get into window cleaning asap but my squeegee work isn’t perfect yet, i was thinking i could just go wfp and skip a lot of the squeegee work until i feel like I’ve mastered it.
For this house it was a new construction so I laddered it just in case but it wasn't too bad. The resin doesn't get too expensive especially with using an RO/DI system. A water fed pole can definitely pick your pace up while you master the squeegee. Feel free to contact me through facebook if you would like and we can get you all set up
SteveO The Window Cleaner i’d love to! Ive got a pressure washing business and just getting started this season.
Nice video steveo! Is the virus affecting your business in a big way?
Film Geeks definitely quite a bit of things on hold that is routine work, but trying to stay busy where we can. How about yourself?
SteveO The Window Cleaner same here. My brother and I actually run a window cleaning company in California. We’ll be pretty much doing exterior only for a while to say the least!
Hey Steve O! What would you charge for inside and out for this house?
Keith Juvera maybe around $300
Where do you buy your recommendations products
All from window cleaning resource, I am also a sales rep with them windowcleaner.com/MY
Thanks for your informative videos.
How much more should I charge for doing the inside of a window IF THE OUTSIDE IS PRICED AT $7
For that you want to double the price to $14
@@SteveOthewindowcleaner Thanks for your help SteveO.
i need help with quoting a commercial window job. i have a commercial cleaning company and want to get into window cleaning. are there general rates that apply to certain sized windows?
Commercial is $2.50 - $5.00 depending on size and access
Love your videos! Do you charge extra for scraping?
Not unless it’s a construction clean
What would be average for that? I’ve seen some people charge double what they would normally charge for a construction clean. I just wasn’t sure if that was to much.
Are you guys still cleaning interior glass?
Matty Cakes with the right circumstances, yes. I think the season is going to pick up here soon
Window cleaning spray on sale for 30% off
I want window cleaning jobs
What two solutions are you using in this video?
Dawn soap and glass gleam windowcleaner.com/titan-glass-gleam-4-soap?pt=MY
what u think abut the blue rubber that you use it
It’s really good!!
365$?? In my country (Italy) they would pay you like 50-60€ for that service.......ppl here want all the service but....they dont want to pay.....
Why not wfp?
It was exterior only and needed to remove the screens from the exterior so it was easier to ladder everything
👍🏻
Nice video bro...
Where Are YOU From,
Is this per hour
How much per screen cleaning
$3-$5 per screen depending size or area
you guys hiring for summer work??
Can work with you please
What grade wool do u use ??
Did you charge per pane or hourly to get your $365?
I charge by pane
Can you send a link where a starter can buy a nice set up? Having trouble finding bronze wool pads and different hand held tools.
windowcleaner.com/steveo-s-employee-basic-starter-kit?pt=MY
The bronze wool pad windowcleaner.com/xero-bronze-wool-pad?pt=MY
Done in half the time with a portable water fed pole
Yes, have one as well! thanks
