You should have seen the crowds at the discos when "Dancing Queen" would start playing. Screams and a race to the dance floor. Usually ended with Donna Summers "last Dance". Studio one in LA was popping!!!
i think John Lennon liked it too . I was in a rock band in 1979 and ABBA came to play 6 miles from my house in Boston Ma. I actually think it was the flight that freaked Agnetha out from flying anymore . I didnt go ahhh but I always remembered the song SOS and said wow what a great song . My band was playing Led zep and all that LOL. One day in 2019 i was on youtube and looked up SOS by ABBA abd there they are in the cat dresses singing it ! I knew there was a blonde in ABBA but I didnt know Agnetha was the prettiest women in the history of the universe ! Help i adore Agnetha what a gorgeous women . Of course they are both beautiful women gifted with great voices but there is just something about Agnetha I cant explain . Good God even her arms are perfect ! Yes I need help !
1974 won but together since 1972 SSO as a group 10 years watch hole in your soul .kisses of fire .agnetha with Gary Barlow and I still have faith in you abba first song in 40 years
The first performance was when they won Eurovision and I remember watching, delighted, even though I was only 3 years old - I'm 50 now, gulp!!! I have a great memory in case you're skeptical :D
Sweden, Sweden, Sweden, what talents you create! What is it with this little country in the North? Answer: one of their treasures is / has been that they have a natural aptitude for singing and for music in general. It is in their genes. See for example "allsång på Skansen", Stockholm, where they meet and sing together once a week in the summertime. And their people's soul goes very, very deep. ABBA was one of the very first artists to be known outside of Scandinavia. A big hug from Norway, neighbour of Sweden.
Here's Your ABBA Crash Course in pronouncing their most difficult Swedish names: Agnetha and Björn. Benny and Anni-Frid are more easy I think. Agnetha sings using her Tongue = "Tongnetha" = Angnetha = Agnetha. OK? Björn Earns money = BjEarns = Björn. OK? ABBA is pronounced with the Stress on the last "A". Like this: abbA´. OK? Good Luck! Yes, I'm Swedish - and I saw ABBA live 1975, just as their Rocket Career Took Off
Also abba in Australia TV special singing waterloo and so long .and honey honey and hasta mana also abba in Japan and abba on Mike yarwood show I've been fan since 1974
Shelby,ABBA is much more then just pop, even though many people think they are pure pop. But they dont know ABBAs repertoar if they believe that. Check all of their songs, you will see how incredibly versatile they are..they do rock, even metal, funk, and so on. Please do more then their biggest hits like Dancing queen and mamma mia etc..they are so much more then those songs too.In this live performance group of songs,I personally enjoyed Gimme Gimme Gimme the most...
They didn’t tour very much. People forget that ABBA was the second half of their respective careers - all of them started out in the 60s in different projects. And except for Agnetha they were in their 30s through most of ABBA. And Agnetha and Björn had small children. But when they did tour they were always great - they brought top notch musicians and background singers with them. And Frida and Agnetha of course were a one of a kind duo. No need for autotune whatsoever.
I'm so glad to see you for first time Congratulations for the three reactions Three great songs that represent three iconic moments in the glorious history of ABBA 1) "Waterloo" at Eurovision 1974 his victory and international release, and his first worldwide success masterpiece under three minutes (per Eurovision rules) the best song in the history of Eurovision, voted for its 50th anniversary edition 2) "Dancing Queen" in Australia 1977 ABBA's biggest hit in the world at the exact time and place of ABBAmania the second favorite song by British fans (only behind "The winner takes it all") and the second most euphoric for the British public (only behind "Don't stop me now" by Queen) 3) "Gimme gimme gimme" at the London Concert 1979 the song that ABBA composed and premiered for their last tour, in the cradle of rock & pop music the second ABBA song with the most views on youtube (only after "Dancing Queen") and that Madonna asked to use the keyboard riff for her hit "Hung Up" I hope to see you with more ABBA songs My best regards from Buenos Aires , Argentina South America
I'm a huge ABBA fan since 1974 I collected over 1 thousand4 hundred camera photos plus over 60 posters and more than 70 abba books I all a small part of my collection you should watch some agnetha solo esp in Swedish Jesus Christ superstar
I´m from sweden and of course I have always listen to the hits from ABBA but it is now when I am a little bit older I really have understand how fantastic they are. Like your reaction and hopefully you can react to some more amazing songs from ABBA from the past or from the new album.
Yeah, in concerts they performed some of the songs in a lower key compared to the records. In the studio, Agnetha and Frida were pushed to their highest limits. Even some of the background vocals are super high. But in the studio, they could at least rest and recover and it could take months to record an album. Singing like that on tour, night after night, would have broken them. It was tough as it was, so they had to tone it down a little. Plenty 'live' stuff is about to be found. Check out the 'Dick Cavett Meets ABBA' mini concert (9 songs) ua-cam.com/video/BC0QZhJ0uok/v-deo.html
Hi Shelby, some info you may not know...Their costumes were tax write offs, because the Swedish tax laws, clothing that were unwearable in every day life were tax write offs... because of this they had the most gorgeous outfits at the time ! :)
I see you didn't do a reaction to abba's new album "voyage" that was released November 5th, 2021. Can you please react and review of the album. I think you will enjoy it. I know I did.
Joy!! Like you I've never thought to look up ABBA live videos, I think I'll send some to a friend. She's on an ABBA kick atm, and could use some cheering up, and that should be an instant good mood. I'm super interested to how the upcoming virtual ABBA thing in London goes. A drummer who has played in a couple of my favourite bands, and who I've talked to a little on Insta, is gonna be the live drummer for that London thing, and just posted an airplane pic yesterday with the Swedish flag and an exclamation flag, so I assume she's met the group today haha. So excited for her. Your comment about sparklers not being allowed anymore makes me think of British festivals, with smoke grenades (in daylight) and signal flares (under night sky) being let off during big songs, haha. In fact, with a first full festival season in 3 years starting up soon, maybe watching some festival performances could be an idea for a future video for your channel? =)
Live version of Dancing Queen is in a lower key than the recording, in the bridge into the 2nd chorus of Waterloo, Agnetha almost falls off key, in the word "lose" but Frida I think belts out a bit stronger to help her a bit
Well this is a blast from the past for me as my mum was a big Abba, Boney M, Blondie and Meatloaf fan. I grew up hearing this as a kid :) It's great hearing a young 'un enjoying it (37 year old fart lol) !
I’m no ABBA fan. Give me a break. I’m a 50 something yo man who listened to KISS & AC/DC back then, for crying out loud. Yes. I’m a huge ABBA fan. I absolutely love them!
Thanks for the ABBA. "Does your mother know - Hole in your soul" is a standout from the Wembley 1979 concert. "Why did it have to be me" from Australia is a great one for Frida. Anything from the "Dick Cavett meets ABBA" little mini concert is great for seeing them and just their session band. They really were a great live band. Most of the lip sync TV stuff you see wasn't on them. TV shows back then just didn't want the hassle and cost of a real live performance. Pretty sure this was their last TV appearance from 82. They do an off cuff acoustic version of "Thank You For The Music". "ABBA - Thank You For The Music - Live Nöjesmaskinen (1982)" ''' ----> ua-cam.com/video/jC6L6DtgjdM/v-deo.html If you can find the whole show they all seem so tired and burned out. But they put on a brave face. Then it's pretty sad how badly they were treated. But the performance is outstanding. If you do more live stuff I'll watch. It's really overlooked.
100% I'm agreed, I'm a rock fan, but the Wembley Live shows the great spectrum of Abba, specially the song package "DoesYourMother Know+Hole In Your Soul", but also "Summer Night City", "Voulez Vous" and the final short song "The Waay Old Friend Do", the predecessor of "Still Have Faith In You". I think all Live videos of the Australian tour are parts from the film The Movie. I think, sadly it doesn't exist the whole concert. Phenomenal are Dancing Queen (the voices brilliant), of course "Why Dit It Have To Be Me" and "Get On the Carousel". Also Dick Cavett Studio concert is excellent: short version of Gimme, by Summer Night City with Intro and one of my favor "Me And I", simply the whole concert. All the best for YOU!!!
I would like you to react to a song by Diana Navarro. She is a Spanish singer. With the song "El perdon" she is a very versatile singer who sings different musical styles. With a very personal voice and notes with incredible melismas. greetings from Spain

Good choice!

Pete Townshend of The Who has said that "SOS" by ABBA is, perhaps, the best pop song ever written.

I've never seen this live performance of Dancing Queen before. Thanks for reacting to this.
Its from " ABBA the movie" 1977 Australian tour.
I adore Agnetha - your so cute nice job

gimme gimme from Wembley , amazing quality for live videos from the 70's
PROS IN EVERY WAY
Good idea to do real ABBA live videos, there are not so many. You must do "Does Your mother now / Hole in your soul" live in Wembley
Yes a must for sure
I concure. That ending of the Wembley show is amazing!

ABBA rocks! coming from a 70's hard rocker as myself!
I was a little boy when they hit it big here in the states. My older siblings as well as my parents both loved these songs. Good music.
Need to do SLIPPING THRU MY FINGERS LIVE and THANK YOU FOR THE MUSIC by ABBA !
My favorite band since I was 3 years old in 1976. I know every song.
Nice to hear intelligence..paired with absolute beauty.

Another live performance I really love is Summer Night City from the Wembley concert. So much energy.
I'm so glad to see you for first time
Congratulations for the three reactions
Three great songs that represent three iconic moments in the glorious history of ABBA
1) "Waterloo" at Eurovision 1974
his victory and international release, and his first worldwide success
masterpiece under three minutes (per Eurovision rules)
the best song in the history of Eurovision, voted for its 50th anniversary edition
2) "Dancing Queen" in Australia 1977
ABBA's biggest hit in the world at the exact time and place of ABBAmania
the second favorite song by British fans (only behind "The winner takes it all") and the second most euphoric for the British public (only behind "Don't stop me now" by Queen)
3) "Gimme gimme gimme" at the London Concert 1979
the song that ABBA composed and premiered for their last tour, in the cradle of rock & pop music
the second ABBA song with the most views on youtube (only after "Dancing Queen") and that Madonna asked to use the keyboard riff for her hit "Hung Up"
I hope to see you with more ABBA songs

They had the wildest outfits! As a male, I preferred the miniskirt outfits of course! LOL
Yeah, in concerts they performed some of the songs in a lower key compared to the records. In the studio, Agnetha and Frida were pushed to their highest limits. Abba got zero points from England at the eurovision.
they didn't perform the winner takes it all live because Agnetha couldn't reproduce her performance in the studio. It's her best vocal performance in an ABBA song.. My favorite vocalist is Frida.. Velvety and smooth
