ABBA is a Swedish group(the woman with brown hair was born in Norway). They were HUGE in the 70s. They're one of the best selling groups of all time. And it was two married couples. Both got divorced later on but they continued with the group for a few more years before they solit up in the early 80s.

Starting in the 60s and continuing through the 70s and 80s music was good in every genre because they were actually connected to their instruments. You know that brings soul into the sound.

Abba was formed in the early 1970's by 2 couples - Bjorn (pronounced "bee yorn") and the blonde woman Agnetha (pronounced "ann yet ah"), Benny (who played the keys) and the brunette woman Anni-Frid (aka Frida) ...Both women were young stars in Sweden and Norway when they fell in love w/ the guys. The named the group Abba using the letters of their first names. Benny & Bjorn wrote the songs; Agnetha & Frida sang them (Bjorn also sang lead on a number of Abba songs)
After 2 albums in Sweden, Abba won the Eurovision song contest in 1974 w/ their song 'Waterloo'... They debuted internationally in 1975 and scored a huge international hit 'Dancing queen' in 1976 from the next album 'Arrival'. Already superstars in 1977, Abba released a semi-fictional movie - 'Abba - the movie', and their next record 'Abba - the album'. Abba was one of the biggest pop music groups of the 70's...
Unfortunately, the pressure of recording & touring together ended up splitting Bjorn & Agnetha's marriage in 1978... they had 2 children together.
Benny & Frida married, but split up by 1980 as well... Frida had kids from a previous marriage.
Touring in 1979 for the next album 'Voulez-vous' proved to be Abba's last... 2 more Abba albums followed without any major tour dates - 'Super trouper' (1980) and 'The Visitors' (1981) ... but the divorces were making it difficult to keep the group together. Both Agnetha and Frida wanted solo careers, so by 1983, the singles from Abba stopped and the group was over. Bjorn and Benny kept busy writing for other projects... but both Agnetha and Frida stopped performing in the 80's and went back to private lives.
In 1990, Abba's 2 'best of' records sold millions of copies worldwide, but the group refused to return... their music sold to new generations of fans.
In 2021, Abba announced that they had recorded a new album 'Voyage' and the new music 40 years after their last album, making the top of the charts all over the world.

ABBAs songs are full of catchy and happy melodies; you get in such a good mood when you listen to ABBA. Their music pick you up when you are down or in a depression. Make you want to dance and celebrate being alive. The music is effortless, and yet so complex in all their different layers. In my opinion, Benny Andersson is one of the very best composers of our time.
When you really and fully understand the text of ABBA songs, you will be amazed of the depth in the lyrics and the phenomenal insights in the challenges of being human. This ability allows us to easily identify with the lyrics. I do not know of any other group that can captivate me and enchant me like ABBA. Their music and lyrics are magical.
Neither do I know of any other group that can evoke as many different and genuine emotions and feelings in me as ABBA do. This is a rare talent that ABBA have in abundance.
I go as far as to say that this talent makes their music and lyrics a real healing on a very deep, unconscious level. So, in these very turbulent, chaotic and uncertain times, ABBA has a HUGE mission.
    Love from Lena

ABBA stands for Agnetha Faltskog Bjorn Ulvaeus Benny Andersson and Annifrid Frid Lyngstad. Their manager stig anderson took the initials of their names and made ABBA. Agnetha and Bjorn( The girl with the blond and the guy playing the guitar in the video) were married in 1971 their marriage was on rocky grounds at the height of ABBA's success in 1978. they separated in december 1978 and their divorce was filed in 1980 and when their divorce was filed the title the winner takes it all came to bjorn ulvaeus's mind. the song is about the pain of that divorce. Annifrid Lyngstad and Benny Andersson (The girl with the red hair and the guy playing the piano in the video)were engaged in 1971 but did not marry until the height of ABBA's success in october 1978. 2 years after the marriage it went on rocky grounds for some reason. On November 26 1980 they separated and in late 1981 their divorce was filed. ABBA wrote the song When all is said and done for that divorce. Shortly after the filing of the 2 divorces in the group, the song One Of Us was written and sung entailing the end of a love story and the pain of the 2 divorces in the group

IKR? The hair moves were highlighted due to playing it in slow-motion to really seeing the flow of those strands. It reminds me that the Dorothy Hamill hairstyle was so popular around this time. She was a figure skater whose hair would always fall back into place after her spins and such. It was cut in such a way that it was attractive even with her head upside down. This makes me wonder if Frida’s hair had some of the same cutting techniques.

Hello! Nice to see your reaction to the biggest ABBA worldwide hit
"Dancing Queen" (1976) is a beautiful song, which shines in the loftiness of its vocal harmonies
The boys achieved here an extraordinary work of Agnetha (soprano voice) and Anni Frid (mezzo soprano voice), each one gives its best effort to match the other (Anni Frid rises in the highs, Agnetha lowers more to the bass) and thus their combined voves achieve records of perfection
And the music is bright and enveloping, from the initial chord it introduces you into the atmosphere of the disco and invites you to dance
English public has voted it as one of the songs they want to hear the most, because of the feeling of joy and energy it gives them (another is "Don't stop me now" by Queen)
and "Dancing Queen" was included in the Hall of Fame of Rock & roll music
    in May 21 (2021)
the official video of "Dancing Queen"
the biggest worldwide hit of ABBA
    exceeded 500,000,000 views on UA-cam
and #ABBA remastered it in HD

When I hear Dancing Queen it immediately reminds me of my sis.
She loved this song and was quite the dancing queen herself. We probably had this on an old K-Tel record or something.
Brings back thoughts of wing cut hair on girls and satin bell bottoms lol. In a good way. Its just a fun song about dancing and the club scene where a girl is eyeing a guy across the dance floor. Fun stuff that doesnt need a movie or commercials to really experience it. In fact, like you said, those things make the song less.
By the way, that little move Agnetha and Anni-Frid do where they face away do that move and then face each other then face away again? Classic Abba move lol. Kind of their thing. They were Swedish so what makes them endearing if you listen closely is their cute accents come through. All the guys were in love with Agnetha (the blonde).

THEN a MOVIE was made of it also called "MAMA MIA" with the same story as the Broadway show, starring MERYL STREEP as the female lead "DONNA" I never knew Meryl could SING until I saw her in this movie. Her rendition of "THE WINNER TAKES IT ALL" is so beautiful and heartbreaking, it had me crying in the movie theater. They were never "cool". Kids shunned them - and they were made fun of later on. Two decades later - most of the greatest bands in the world, and critics, all agree - one of the best pure songwriters and pop kings and queens of music - dozens of iconic songs. The boys were geniuses in arrangements.

When this year they released their first three singles in nearly 40 years - especially given the state of the world (pandemically, politically) - it was just exactly what I needed; the feel-good cultural moment we ALL needed.

ABBA. Stands for Anni-Frid. Agnetha. Benny. Bjorn. The four members. The are the FOURTH BIGGEST SELLING MUSICAL ACT IN RECORDED HISTORY. #1. The Beatles. #2 Michael Jackson. #3 Elvis Presley. #4 ABBA. They’ve sold in excess of 450 MILLION RECORDS in their careers. By the way. They wrote “Mamma Mia”. Benny writes the music. Bjorn writes the lyrics. They all arrange the music. Listen to their NEW MUSIC. First album in FORTY YEARS. “Don’t Shut Me Down” is my fave of their new stuff!

PLEASE do MORE ABBA, they are FANTASTIC, ALL their songs are, you need to react to more. AS far as her hair, it all depends on the cut, and the texture of her hair for it to fall in place like that. Usually if you have thick hair and it is smooth like that and well conditioned, it will swing back in place like that. I unfortunately don't have hair like that, and could never do what she did and have it go back in place. She has had many different looks and had a perm for awhile.

interesting fact. ABBA was the first rock band to hit a billion in the stock market ( including sales and merchandise etc) . They broke up due to both couples going through simultaneous divorces. Agenetha ( blonde) suffered high anxieties, post pardon depression and fear of flying which caused strain on the band . Ani-frid is from Norway ( brunette) after the divorce, she ended up marrying the Prince of Germany. She is a princess.

There was a style of haircuts in the 70s created hair stylist VIdal Sassoon that everyone had in the 70s. This style was made famous by ice figure skater Dorthy Hamill. The cut was designed to be low maintenance. Like you see in the video, it falls into place and never looks messed. Sassoon had several versions, designed for both men and women. He would later come out with a line of hair products in the 70s. Everyone was going for that look around the mid 70s.
As for Annifrid...Frida, the dark haired woman, she is known for having a number of different styles throughout her time in ABBA. From this style to wavy, to permed, to punk 80s style. Some worked more favorably for her than others.
Members names...Annifrid or Frida (pronounced like annie frid), Bjorn (Bee Yorn), Benny, and Agnetha (Awg neetha or like Anita with a H in it.)
ABBA had a string of hits ranging from the mid 70s to the early 80s when they finally disbanded. The group consisted of two couples, Bjorn Ulvaues and Agnetha Falstkog...the guitar player and the blonde, and Benny Andersson and Annifrid Lyngstad...the piano player and the brunette singer. Bjorn and Angetha had two kids together but would split in 1979 and be divorced in 1980. Benny and Annifrid were married, with kids from previous marriages. THey would divorce in 1981. The group would continue for another year. After that, they decided to take a break. The guys went on to produce the musical Chess, and the two women went on to solo work...Annifrid (Frida) working on another two English language albums and a few duets before semi retiring. Agnetha would produce 3 English language albums and a few duets before semi retire. Both would re-emerge in the 90s-2000s with solo work. 2017 ABBA reunited behind the scenes to work on the digital show ABBA Voyage. They would have their likenesses reproduced digitally and use motion capture tech to capture them performing a number of hits for a concert-like show. They would go on to produce two new songs for the show, I Still Have Faith in You and Don't Shut Me Down. The experience was so favorable for all 4 members, that they decided to do a few more songs and compile them in to an album called Voyage, which was released in 2022,

This is from 1976. I remember when this was new. They really were the best of times from a kid's perspective in my opinion. We really had a lot of fun back in the day and we did it without cell phones and video games. We would go out and play with our friends for hours and come home just before dark and eat when we got home. I really miss those days. I also loved playing records back in the day. This takes me back. Thank you for sharing.

Sweden, Sweden, Sweden, what talents you create! What is it with this little country in the North? Answer: one of their treasures is / has been that they have a natural aptitude for singing and for music in general. It is in their genes. See for example "allsång på Skansen", Stockholm, where they meet and sing together once a week in the summertime. And their people's soul goes very, very deep. ABBA was one of the very first artists to be known outside of Scandinavia. A big hug from Norway, neighbour of Sweden.
