hwang is an insanely good character
He is bad or decent at the most, his combos scale a lot and he needs to sacrifice life and CE bar if he is low on talismans
I haven’t got to play as him yet, any tips?
@@chrishandsome7012 Well, focus on neutral without using the talisman power, if you use a lot of talismans you will start the next match with 30-40% less life and it will also take 1/2 CE bar, that's why he isnt that good, his good combos cant be done everytime because you will get punished for that. You can only use all his skills without worrying on the last round. Its stupid because characters like 2B, Cass, Amy, can make 2 times more damage without having to sacrifice anything
@@raymondcampusano2991 That was my first impression when I started testing him out in training. His combos have insane scaling and his gimmick is more of a downside than it something to be useful. He seems to me like release day with Tira. Has a gimmick that actually a huge hindrance (unreliable personality switch, easily counter by break attack, etc.) which they had to do a lot of changes to make her good now. I haven't looked to much into it, but it doesn't seem like Hwang benefits from having excess talismans. To me it seems like he is footsies and neutral heavy, but at that point, why not just play Sophita?

I started libra of souls with hwang style, the mode lets you use his talismans a lot more than you can normally, so I can use these combos without worrying about my talisman count!

He's a good character, but, what's the function of the papers?(the blue, green and red) What do they do?
He had four charges of them at the start of the match and spends them on every of his "magic" moves, like chain-sword atacks, that blue grapling strikes, auras, that expands functionality of some of his moves and more.
He can use more than four, but the he will recive a debuff of the endurance (I don't really sure, but sort of) as big, as he go into a negative charge. He can get charges again in the same round, but only with usage of specific aura, that can be activated only in Soul Charge.
(Sorry for bad English. I hope you understand me)
There are 4 auras. Their effects are triggered by talisman moves (like 6B+K). You can active the auras with A+K and a direction button
Desolation (red) (A+K6) drains meter from opponents on hit, which makes it great for soul charged opponents
Resolve (green) (A+K2) restores health on hit
Might (blue) (A+K8) restores guard stamina
Iron Will (yellow) (A+K4) makes the next talisman move you land an automatic counter hit, which is great for setting up big damage. It's only available during soul charge, it goes away after one talisman move, and it costs 3 life force instead of 1 like the other auras.

@RC Pilot no hwang has defeated me lmao it’s funny tho because had some players shit talk saying they would beat my nightmare just the other day and boy did I enjoy ruthlessly destroying them till I got kicked lmao soo like I said I enjoyed fighting hwang with nightmare I really want Algol tho “nightmare is trash nightmare takes no skill .” Yet most of the characters are faster and have great punishments I adapt to them and learn to maneuver around them

I know a lot of people love this character but back in SC 3 I found hwang and yun seong so boring, like rock never liked them, and now its totally different, I kind of like him, I dont know about the fans, the critical edge looks like that jam from guilty gear super move
That damage is so low considering how many talismans you have to use...
It's not a criticism of the combo video, but of Hwang himself. He seems like everything is more downside than up for the most part.
Agree, the talisman damage should be on Astaroth level damage, as it cost life force and needs to be managed.
wait I've been playing sc since sc2 wasn't Hwang just a bonus character? I was kinda excited to see the return of Young Seong, always thought he was a more charismatic and laid-back character. but it's roughly the same playstyle so won't cry too much about it xD

Don't forget to mention that performing those moves will deplete your life bar in the next match. In a game where people can RE 100 times and characters have guns in sword fights, and can disappear and shoot fire Hwang loses energy if you even attempt to use one of his special moves. So disappointing. what a let down.
He has a mode where where he uses a reversal edge he gets 3 yin back if he's negative
