I thought I'd get some clarification when I went through the comments. I can see now that I will need a factory service manual. Because everybody seems to be confused . And why would the procedure be different from a Range Rover to the Ford when they're the same engine? Never mind, Ima figure it out. Thanks for the video, it steered me towards the correct factory service publication. I don't have time to do this job again, plus machine work, and I hate yo-yos, so I have to do it correctly the first time.

It's what we call a "comeback" when the job was not done correctly, or for whatever reason the repair didn't work. I appologise for my poor word choice. I am working with a 2015 Ford Explorer 3.5 litre all wheel drive. I ordered the cam fixture tools, and anticipate no trouble completing the job successfuly. Thanks again for the video. Pete

Can you turn the cam on bank 1 (firewall side) enough to get the mark to line up with the primary chain mark? My bank 2 mark and crank mark line up but I need to turn the cam 1-2 teeth to get the bank 1 to line up. I had all the marks lined up when I took it apart and had the tool on holding the cams in place. Thank you

Help check if the chain adjuster is going backwards and front when turning the engine, if so tension the adjuster by pushing the chain adjuster and tensioning the chain harder to avoid jumping off timing

We did this job ourselves this past week and if you’re getting the P0016 error code both the crankshaft position sensors and timing synchronization if it’s out of time throws up the same code of the P0016. If it’s the sensors and it was only intermittently going out prior to the water pump it wouldn’t be enough to throw the code until after you had to unplug it and it’s no longer getting a good connection. I know incredibly stupid. Prior to my water pump going out the last couple months occasionally my car would give me issues cranking almost like a starter but then I would turn the key back to off position and try again and it would start just fine and twice after hitting a slight bump suddenly my car started running rough, threw up the check engine light and then stalled but once I turned it off and started it back up no more check engine light and no running rough or anything. The sensors give the same symptoms as if it were slightly off time except if it were off time you would hear a bit of a rattle or clinking noise when you first start it at a cold start. Hope this helps.
Is there any way I can turn crankshaft on 3.5 Duratec to align #1 piston TDC without bending valves. My chain jumped time turning my motor counter clock wise when trying to remove harmonic balancer. Chains are still on. As of now, I can only turn CC about 1/4 turn in either direction then stops against what I assume are valves. Trying to get back in time before dissassambling to change water pump. Thanks in advance for any help.
Dude didn’t change the sprockets, tensioners , guides and water pump very unprofessional job . Well he did the timing set up ok but this job you need to do it correctly replacing all internal timing components you don’t want to do this job again.

If you get this code P0016 meaning that your camshaft and crankshaft are not aligned correctly

Just looked at the key side where it face 9: 0 clock and 3 0 clock on both bank 1 and 2 excuse cam, while both inlet face 12 o clock

You need to make sure the tension is probably adjusted correctly before you rotate the engine

Ok I have my cams in time and set on all marks. My question is for the crank timing mark, what position do I need the crank timing mark to be at?
The crankshaft key should face 11: o clock and the dot Mark should face 4: o clock sorry for the initial text message
@@miamiautomobile5566 the key way is at 11:00 o'clock and the mark is opposite of that at 5:00 o'clock and my #1 piston is at TDC
