    Another OP1 tutorial video- Let's explore D Box on the OP1. I've done some research and it seems that this is one of the most undocumented engines on the instrument. People just seem to be confused by it for some reason, which is a shame because it includes some of my favourite op1 drums.
    OP1 drum lesson!
    This video helps demystify the engine and gives you the option of taking your music into a more experimental realm- corky drum sounds are what it's all about.

    So...? Which beat was your favourite at the end of the video? Here are your corresponding personality traits:
    1) You have an upfront and outgoing personality- persuading less outgoing people to "join the party".
    2) You have a deep appreciation for the finer, more subtle things in life. Even though you might not understand what they are, you're still attentive and open.
    3) You have a peculiar, unusual taste in things. You naturally go "against the grain" not because you want to be different, but because you ARE just different naturally.
    4) You lean more towards things that are more conventional and evidently you like dancing, maybe doing some drugs and partying to club/house music (lol).
    5) You are bonkers.
    6) Sort of similar to answer 3, you have a natural quirkiness about you- paired with you have a specific taste for gaming- perhaps a millennial who has deep love for NES/SNES?

    For the sketch sequencer, delete everything (hold shift and twist blue) and then draw a line from the lower left to the upper right side (with a few peaks and valleys in between) and you’ll get a better idea of what it’s doing.

    Would love if you could do a video about how to do drops or pauses when constructing songs on the op1. I find it very difficult to do this if at all. This would make transitions so much better on this instrument and I feel like it’s a real challenge that hasn’t been covered yet. Overall I love my op1 and have really enjoyed these videos, they help a ton, thanks!

    • @LiamKillen
      @LiamKillen  4 роки тому

    • @TheMachinesWon
      @TheMachinesWon 4 роки тому +1

      Liam Killen so just speaking about song techniques on the op1. Like in techno/EDM there’s builds r n drops. In like lofi hip hop u see lots of cool pauses. I find it hard to program/create these on the op1 and it seems pretty typical of both genres but hard to execute on this wonderful machine. Not sure what techniques can be used to do these smoothly as it seems like the op1 generally excels in this type of music.

    • @LiamKillen
      @LiamKillen  4 роки тому +1

      @@TheMachinesWon Often times i'll compose a loop or 2 on the op1 and then bounce that into my DAW- there you can really get into those sorts of techniques- it's just a lot easier to execute that way.
      OP1 is a great tool to get magical ideas started but if you want to polish up and develop a full track, it just becomes easier to "dress it up" in a DAW. IMO.

    Question: Does the OP-Z do sample "transient slicing" just like the PO 33 KO? When the sampling feature was introduced a year ago, it only could slice in 12 evenly long slices. So you had to rework each slice, if you wanted "exact drums". The PO 33 sampler does slicing on the transients, so you get perfect drum slices. Sorry for this complicated explanation, but I really need to know this. thanks!

    • @LiamKillen
      @LiamKillen  4 роки тому

      You can upload your own one shots into the opz. No need for splicing it up. Yeah PO’s are pretty solid for that reason.

    • @klausmono

      Liam Killen thanks! but i don’t want to use a computer. i need the transient slicing option in the opz itself. so, is it implemented yet?
