A tip on the Sketch sequencer: you can use the keyboard and octave keys to then draw in the notes that you want with the knobs. It’s a lot more useful than most people think. Great for getting ideas off the grid.
Yup, it's cool for sequenced glides. Divide your current tempo by half and have it go through the sketch super slow for interesting textures and rises and falls or just sequence chords that have notes starting and stopping at different points.
Extremely underrated sequencer that people seem to think is a joke but its one of the most powerful, if clunky and impractical at times, sequencer on the op-1.
Thank you both!
It's amazing how you are able to create quite nice tunes while not even trying.
Really makes me want to get on my chord/progression learning game lol
That tombola part was beautiful 🥲
👍👍🏻👍🏼👍🏽👍🏾👍🏿
Just got an Op-1 yesterday, and learned so much more from your videos than staring at the manual. Thanks a lot man!
You "hope it's been informative"? Yes, you sir are the king of this instrument. Thank you.
man the tombola ambient voice stuff is absolutely amazing, i think im now convinced that i truly need an op1 field
Great videos explaining the OP-1! However you should totally watch these before buying one. Here I am, with the OP-1 in my hand, spending almost all the time pausing the video constantly playing with the OP-1. It takes about 2h to watch one of these videos constantly getting lost in the OP-1. I love it!
I watched this before I got my OP-1, but now there's so much more here than I remember.
Thanks for all these videos. I own an op1 only 1 week. But I feel like I can play it like I've had it 6 months thanks to these videos
Just got an OP-1, this series is so helpful and inspiring thank you so much
11:44 Thats amazing what tombola is making with your voice. I love it.
Bro that vocal sample was 🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾
Thanks for the OP-1 videos. I never had the OG but I just got my Field version and I’m learning so much from you. I’ve been using my OP-Z as a sequencer for the OP-1f drums, but getting used to the built in sequencers is worth putting in the time. I would love if you made an updated series featuring the OP-1f, but I guess other than a few edge cases these videos already cover the same info. Thanks again!
I'm a beginner with synthesizers and I'm loving watching videos with op 1
is an incredible tool that does many things also you explain very well how it works
pretty cool
Thank you so much for doing this training series Jeremy. I don’t own an OP-1 yet, but I hope to one day soon. After watching this, it seems so much more powerful than I initially thought.
I just can't wait to receive mine (2nd hand, yeah), your vids are unvaluable!
Hi Jeremy. I don't suppose it really matters which video in the series I post my comment as they are all superb. Thank you so much for this OP-1 collection. I am now considerably less well off than I was a few days ago since I could no longer resist finally buying one. That a 10 year old designed piece of kit should still appear magical, is amazing. Looking forward to the weekend to get to grips with it. Cheers. Lee
Jeremy this is the 13th or 14th tutorial on OP1 I've watched. It's only the 2nd one to make sense. The other one that made sense is yours as well. Masterclass on how to do a music kit howto. Aces!
Just rediscovered the Tombola sequencer. Thanks. Super helpful as always.
This video is gold! Thank you for such a thorough and even-paced run thru.
I heard that op1's sequencers are uncomfortable, so i was considering buying, but after watching this video, i pay for it. Thank you for your review which is so detailed.
Had an OP1 for year now, and only just exploring some of the features outside of the sampler and built in synths.
The description on how to use the sequencer in this video has just saved my bank account from ordering a new drum machine haha!
Thank you, these videos are great!
Thanks for making these vids. Helping me figure this unit out
if the DAWs of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it truly is, infinite
8:10 great sequencing possibilities
Great breakdown. Thank you very much.
Wow that tombola section on here sounds so nice!
I needed this A YEAR AGO! Good overview tho
Best OP-1 videos on UA-cam! Thanks. :)
This series is FANTASTIC!!!! Thank you !!!!
Well done mate. I don’t have one of these, but your skill creates appeal.
Fantastic video, thank you. Really useful.
damn throwing shade at the instagram dawless peeps in the first 30 seconds 😅
so helpful!
Yo does anyone know how I can get the sequencer to start on Play from Ableton instead of the tape?
WOW great video!!!
I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of Dawless Jammers suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.
Timeless
so very helpful. ty very much!
This has been informative!
My fave hall pass is by far Vintage Verb by Valhalla.
Your videos are excellent. I bought an OP-1 over a year ago and barely use it. Too complicated. If I would have watched you videos first I wouldn't have bought it. Great machine, it's doesn't fit my style of working,
don't give up u can do it
Can you play a sequence on the fly and auto quantize instead of plotting your steps one by one?
Pattern is a great tool for determining a perfect loop BPM for a desired loop in the sampler. I’ll adjust the start / end of a loop in drum mode, along w/ the pitch (speed), and get it looping perfectly, then I change the assigned key to one shot (->), and drop that note into pattern. Then, just enable “hold”, and go into the metronome, and adjust bpm til it loops perfectly. Now, I have the exact bpm so the loop is perfectly matched to bpm, when I record to tape. It’s quite simple.
I kinda get what you are saying, could I very gently request you to make a tiny video about it?
@@GiriGagan later tonite.
@@GiriGagan Have a look. ua-cam.com/video/waTLIwug13M/v-deo.html
@@Blogspierrewow thank you ❤
I am somehow missing how you record things from the sequencers onto the tape recorder.
Op 1 is amazing
"I F#cking love breakcore"
Great Series. One question. How to keep ore save the sequences. Are they in the album backup?
No
Hi Jeremy
If I would like to emulate Tombola sequencer , into a sampler/Looper device like Deluge, Octatrack, MPC should i think it as polyphonic phrase as chord notes with some sort of randomized triggers maybe by lfos or comditional triggs for the Gravity ?
Or how would you do it?
Thanks and regards My friend
What drum kit do you use in this video? Is it one of your own?
thanks for these videos !!!

True
"fuckin' love breakcore"
👍👍🏻👍🏼👍🏽👍🏾👍🏿
Day 2 of ownership, used OP-1 and my seq button decided to stop working, I feel like I’m missing out on a pretty major part of this yummy device noooooo.
:(
Red Means Recording but, a replacement keyboard assembly should be with me soon.. watching this video has made the FedEx website exciting lol, plus just resoldered the headphone socket as left channel only worked so that’s neat huzzah!
Red Means Recording and on the 7th day, I fixed my OP-1, it is on! Time time work through your tutorials, thanks fella
Is there a way to extend the length of the notes in the finger mode of the sequencer?
No
@@RedMeansRecording k thanks.
Hmmm depending on what you're trying to achieve, you might be able to get what you want between playing with the envelope and adding some effects.
Let's see MARX WAS RIGHT, interesting idea...amazing...fucking useful 😂😂😂
Can u make house music
👏👏👏👍
DAW? More like D-HAW 🤠
It has to pronounced "Tòmbola" not Tombòla
It's an Italian word for a variance of the Bingo game
FIRST!!
Red also means communism, apparently.
(I'm just joking, and wishing I could subscribe twice)
the “Marx Was Right” image in sketch is the default one the OP-1 ships with. So blame TE (or extend kudos, depending on your inclination!) 😂
@@Blogspierre Almost enough to turn me off the device.
@@kkadera He was right about a lot of things. For starters, “Religion is the opium of the masses”. Just look around.
