I can truthfully say that we have no plans to ever live aboard a narrowboat! However, we do vicariously enjoy all your adventures! Every time--we just smile the whole time we're watching.
It must be strange for you that so many people who don't know you at all feel like they "know" you. You handle it very well...
Thanks for sharing your lives with us. Your videos are beautiful, informative; entertaining and inspirational.

My grasp of British slang improves with every vlog. This week it is "gormless." And then there was "a bit of friction" (Hyacinth Bucket and Richard, face to face and trying to pass each other in a tiny kitchen: "Would you PLEASE remove yourself from my person.") and the dancing "briquettes." Your vlogs always leave me smiling.

My wife and I spent five years living on our narrow boat...they were the best, the most memorable and happiest years of the 68 we’ve been together. Met great people, folk who wanted to help, kids who were excited to step aboard and enjoy a short ride and experienced fabulous countryside. We saw England and Wales from the rarely seen back door.

Me and the Mrs were paddle boarding the other day. We paddled passed a lovely couple who were moored and had a chat with, we were talking about the prices and what not, as me and my partner are saving for a narrow boat. Then the lady said do you watch the guys on youtube, I stopped her and said the guys on the silver fox? She said YES! Aren't they brilliant? We both agreed and spoke about you guys and your fantastic, insightful videos for a good while. Your ears must of been on fire. You both seem like lovely blokes who it would be a pleasure to meet. @@dawnoakley1776 I too have to sell everything to get to buy a narrow boat. But also I have to move to the UK and figure out everything else like down to what airport is closest to the canal, meeting people in the area and little things that people take for granted because they lived there for years. Would you like to chat on FB messenger? If you would like to. I'm under Thomas Filion, profile pic is me on the piano. I chatted a little bit about canals with Trev's Travels by narrow boat, another narrow boat tuber. I like his episodes as well and he's a single man like myself where he is interested in seeing the little places to go in towns around the canals.

Such a wonderful vlog ! All very good points. I could add one more concern. I agree with the rubbish and “poo” management. But I have always felt an anxiety about managing the locks by myself. I am sure I could probably eventually conquer and mange it. But it does seem quite daunting.
Love your vlogs, and look forward to every Friday. Your vlog was the first one I saw concerning narrowboats and you have me addicted. I will probably never be able to experience it as I live in the US and. We don’t have canals that I know of. So I am living my interest in them through you.

First timer, I admit I was ready to leave a sarcastic comment about two gays on a boat! After watching the video I was amazed at how professional the video was shot and edited. Quality camera shots, angle views, drone views, sound. My questions that came to mind? 1.do you have to pay mooring fees, council tax?
    2. Why don't you go green like have solar panels and or a wind generator on top?
    3. What video camera do you use and what editing software?
    4. How do you get Internet? Is that just mobile phone data?
    5. Thanks guys, respect and I am sorry I pre judged before seeing the whole video.

We took our first narrowboat holiday just before lockdown and the weather was stunning. The first morning after mooring to a tree, I woke up figuring I'd get an early start, went to unmoor and while untying I found myself pushing the boat away with my feet while clinging to the tree. Absolute panic set in as I didn't know how deep the water was, luckily it was only waist high so I clambered back onto the boat, my missus and children had woke after hearing me shouting "Help!!!. . . Help!!!"
My shorts were torn and it was a rude awakening to the perils of narrow boating but it turned out to be one of the best holidays we have ever had.

My dream of living on a narrowboat died a while back. The main reason was, I joined a Facebook group (who shall remain nameless) and, if that's not enough to put you off, what is? Very negative people which, judging by some of the other vlogs out there, backed up my assertions. I now just watch 2-3 vlogs, including this one. I already sort of knew that, despite her nods and semi enthusiasm, that the wife would never do it. So, the Spanish villa is back in vogue (if we're ever allowed to travel again). I've been all around the country with you two and enjoyed every minute. Keep going and good luck.

Watching a variety of vlogs recently it seems that so many are choosing a life on a narrowboat/wide beam or a holiday without thinking about the rules that go with it; slowing down when passing moored boats or approaching a corner, courtesy and water saving at locks, mooring at a water point, 4mph guidelines, etc. Stay safe guys. 🙏❤

A mature student I knew at university in the mid 1980s had given up his mortgaged house in favour of buying a narrow boat outright for the three years while he attended college. His plan was to navigate the canals of England during the summer holidays. However, when he set out for the first time, he had only gone half a mile when he found out the boat had been built up and he couldn't get it through the first tunnel. He was trapped on a short stretch of canal in north London!

I survived 2 harsh winters aboard a narrow boat that was stuck in a marina actually for sale.
Damp and condensation were 2 main downsides, obviously the cold, we went through bottled gas at an alarming rate, very expensive back then, even more I guess now?
Was very warm while the gas fire was on but as soon as it was off back to cold very quickly, I guess lack of insulation?
I did find a mains point and must say that made a big difference, oh the dry heat I got from that little fan heater was incredible, left it on low at night under our bed, woke up with my tongue stuck to the roof of my mouth!
But the boat was lovely and toasty! ⚠️😲😁
One of our neighbours had a wood burning stove amd his boat was toasty warm, I guess that would be the way to go long term living, forage for wood etc

The thought of living on a houseboat always seems so romantic. People tend to forget the daily mundane chores etc.
It is too late for me now to even consider traveling abroad to enjoy a leisurely holiday on a houseboat, but via the 'magic' of the internet it can bring me closer.

I can totally empathise with your aversion to noise, because that's me too. I have to wear ear defenders in my current home, and when I'm out shopping or walking around. I've had it all my life. Noise for me equals pain, it is physically painful for me. I've no ambitions at all to live on a narrow boat, but I will be moving from a city to a bungalow situated on the edge of a field in open countryside in the next three weeks. I've waited all my life for this, while I'm under no illusions that the countryside will be totally quiet, it surely cannot be as loud and jarring as noise from a very large city. Thanks for a great video gentlemen.
