The two of you in this video capture the essence and moods associated with ocean passage....The whole bit was brilliantly done! Thank you both for allowing us to share in it👌😎
Nice to see you are about ,only seemed like yesterday you were in Mainland and sailed down to the Canary Islands ,Dolphins and Portugese man of war amazing
Really like your videos because you are real, unpretentious and you both have smashing character and DIY attitude. Fair winds and never underestimate thicc booties saving lives:)
Love it! you guys should get a sailing Oscar! Ben more philosophical in this than before, like it though. I know what he means about staring at the sea.
Funny thing most folks forget is a Sailing Passage typically takes days, weeks or months out at sea. Some jump into their car and might drive for 2 or 3 hours non stop trip to another state. Fewer will jump into a car & drive for 24 hours straight from say Connecticut to Florida. Sailing trips that last 2-3 days are the norm. Sailing LA to Hawaii might take 18 days one way, then 18 days return trip home. Ever get a day out on a passage & suddenly remembered you forgot something important? LOL
Just found your channel, will work through your library. Fantastic channel. Opened with you leaving America, your first couple of days seemed miserable - felt sea sick just watching. Thanks so much for the insight. ⛵
Hi Bora Bora, I own a Trintella IV, same hull. I think yours is a Victory 40. I made the trip from Guatemala to the Azores last year and this year from the Azores to the Med. in Spain. What a great boat to sail. Keep going.
AAAAHHHHH you crossed that freaky shallow spot in the middle of the Atlantic! Ben has lost so much sleep over that spot, glad you left it behind you without bumping into any boats on the ocean floor :D Loved the video, makes me miss sailing!
Thank you both for everything you do - your calm, competance, planning and decision making is an object lesson that *many* 'youtube sailors' would do well to emulate. You are one of a very few I would trust to crew for. xx
Especially enjoyed the discussion on routing and the judgment regarding wind and wave trade off's. You made a decision and enjoyed the benefits of that decision. Welcome to Porto in June ! Video was long, but well worth it.
I was missing you two. Glad to see you made it safe and sound. This was a great episode. I enjoyed your musing regarding Mother Ocean. She does get into one's veins and, even with her many moods, remains breathtaking and magical. Your videos capture that many times. I thank you so much for these and wish you both fair winds and following seas. :)
Great you could make the effort to film underway. And quite an ambitious passage NE US direct to Horta! All very interesting. Good time in a heavy boat too!
I totally understand your description of the movement of the sea because that's how I feel when I'm sailing.I sail from my mooring in Exmouth Estuary and have had some amazing days just sailing off the coast there.looking forward to your next video.
You do a really good channel! I just discovered it a couple of weeks ago and this episode in particular was just great. Showed the highs and lows of a big crossing. If it were me I'd be ready for a week in a nice air cond. hotel somewhere!
That was really good, enjoyed that! Those dolphins were amazing how they jumped all over the place...the man o war was freaky too. Thanks so much for all your hard work! Nena California
Well done guys 👍🏻. That looked hard work in places, like Ben said, gives inspiration for my crossing one day. Keep up the great work with your videos, cheers, Si.
Robert Adams Metal Detecting hope your dream works out for you Robert 👍🏻. It’ll be worth it & a great education for your kids. Good luck & enjoy ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻.
That’s such a good video, the lows and well, the lows. But you enjoy the journey nonetheless. Hope you do more sailing videos as I watch a few and these really are the best, informative, eye-catching, thoughtful and fun...Well done indeed, must be a lot of work to produce. Thanks.
a recently fresh subscriber, i find your videos amazing as the discussion on weather, wind, planning and course work is brilliant and fantastic to watch as i do not understand any of this, many thanks for a great video
I have watch way too many videos in the past couple of years. But I must say, this one really touched me, not only with the footage but what the both of you had to say . I am presently getting my boat and myself ready for a very long cruise from South Carolina to Panama and then up the Pacific side to Central California . I'm looking at 10 weeks or so. So many things going through my head. My prep list seems to keep getting longer rather than shorter. At some point I am gonna just have to say, " what do you need and what do you want" . Make the tough calls and just throw those lines on the dock an set sail. If all goes well , i should be underway by the end of January . Thanks for you inspiration.
Really Great video. Entertaining and I learned a ton. You are excrement sailors and you make a very tricky passage look of but easy, manageable. Well done. Enjoy the Azores
You two must be two of the most well adjusted people in the world. The boredom must get intense!..not for low attention span ( not a bad thing, just a thing) people.
I didn't grow up in sailing and when I started going out on a mate's yacht I have to admit to being nervous and sometimes scared at the movement of the boat and the feeling of not really being in control. Having watched all of your remarkable videos and those of The Sailing Frenchman I'm now considering going back to basics and learning to sail, starting off with dinghy sailing and working my way up. A couple of things that have been made clear for me though: it's vital to immerse yourself in all aspects, i.e., navigation, maintenance, quality software and researching all you can about destinations and routes. Equally important though is being with someone who wants to be with you wherever you are and whatever you're doing. A shared dream through to achieving shared goals. You guys have an amazing relationship and I look forward to the next instalment of your voyage across the oceans and your voyage through life.
Great episode, good to see you back again, we had thought you had disappeared of the face of the world. I hope you plans are to carry on with adventures when you are back in the UK
Have enjoyed your vlog...always very good actual " sailing" footage. It seems your sea adventures are coming to an end...if so, I wish you well. It was fun!
Hello you two delightful people. I have been following your journey from the start and love every minute of each video. I live on my sailing boat, which is moored in Ipswich at the moment. I bought her in a small place near Nice just over 4 years ago and have had the best time of my life sailing her since. You have inspired me to firstly sail back to the Mediterranean and then venture further afield within the next 3/4 years. I attribute these plans to you two wonderful people. I quite often travel down to Topsham / Exmouth way and always think of you. What are your plans for the future ? Whatever they are I wish you both the very best life can offer. Take care. Ethan
Waxing poetic on the wonders of waves and an f-bomb that somehow eluded the Youtoob police. I await the leg home and am glad your west country sense of urgency has spread out these final episodes, delaying the end.
This video was amazing to watch. I loved the dolphins, jellyfish, and wavescape! Regarding the Corner Rise Seamounts, at 4:53, there is no danger of touching bottom. The shallowest depth is 800 meters. They have been very well documented by the scientists at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute (the Titanic team) because bottom trawlers have done tremendous damage to the reefs and wildlife there. The area has been closed to fishing and they think it will recover but it will take some time. I wonder if the report in the book you quoted was trying to spin a scary tale, in an effort to keep commercial operators away? Keep up the great work, it's really inspirational.
Can you hear the whales singing as you lie quietly. Ours was a metal hull, and it amplified their songs somewhat. Also the water is so much clearer and cleaner as you get past 100 miles offshore. I loved the going more than the ending of the journey. My only issue is the lack of fresh eggs and produce. Favorite landfall to me was the Faroe Islands, which meant to me ships and trawlers in the distance.
I thank the sailors for forgoing the T&A display. So many of these sailing channels have become soft porn, you have chosen the high road and I thank you for your discretion.
Turtles with barnacle growth are usually sick as there shell normally has a natural “antifoul” to protect them from it happening. Poor things not much you can do for them that far offshore as they need proper care.
On your color radar are the colors atmospheric pressure or temperatures of either air or water. I have made a couple of ocean crossing in the late 60's and had very little information available. But my voyages were powered by something called fuel.
Another great video! The very first time you went sailing on throughout the night- can you describe it? Sailing is intimidating with just a little weather but looking out into total darkness on a boat in the ocean at times has to be unnerving? I’m sure the more times you sail at night & the experience & knowledge gained helps. Driving a car at night for isn’t so bad with street lights, car lights etc. couldn’t imagine driving a car only using my GPS screen. What does one do it you happen to loose all electronics & you’re only halfway to destination? Heave to at night? Try slowing boat speed to 2knots & pray don’t hit anything or no one hits you etc.
Love your channel. I`m just watching ep 25 where you almost run aground using the "sonar" charts on Navionics. You must not use the "sonar" function in Navionics for navigation. It just makes estimates "between" actual data, and all the "sonar" information in the charts are in reality "fake" information. Turn "sonar" off and use data that you actually have and make decisions from that. All the best from Norway :-)
Inspriring to watch a couple who communicate with each other well. And who love each other
Great to see another 1974 sailboat on UA-cam!
Vielen Dank für die aufregenden und schönen Bilder. Möge das Glück mit euch sein...

Nice to see you are about ,only seemed like yesterday you were in Mainland and sailed down to the Canary Islands ,Dolphins and Portugese man of war amazing
If you are coming back to the Canarys let me know
I lived on Terceira from 1973 to 1975. Neat place, nice people, good food.
Long passages watching the ocean around you , called poetry in motion
Really like your videos because you are real, unpretentious and you both have smashing character and DIY attitude. Fair winds and never underestimate thicc booties saving lives:)
That randomness you spoke of in the movement of water is also what fascinates us about the flames of fire. It's a similarly hypnotic experience.
13:48
I get into that too during a lengthy passage, I guess it is a bit like having lots of words for snow.
That stuck me as so powerful and honest. Probably the most inspiring, beautiful and genuine moment I've seen on any sailing channel.
How nice! That air of civility that excists between these two!
What a fantastic video. I love that it is not cut up into 10min clips, I love the length of your videos.
Love it! you guys should get a sailing Oscar! Ben more philosophical in this than before, like it though. I know what he means about staring at the sea.
This part 2 certainly seemed less stressful but nevertheless very long. I enjoyed the video. Thanks 👍👍👍❤️
13:07 to 15:20 superb narration. And spot on!

Hahaha! It was a pretty scary thought at the time heading so close to it 😱
We miss you guys! Hope all is super good. X
¡Ole! Respect! Nicely done Captains.
Awesome sailing, photography and. finally seeing your joy t the sight of land 🏴👍
Thank you both for everything you do - your calm, competance, planning and decision making is an object lesson that *many* 'youtube sailors' would do well to emulate. You are one of a very few I would trust to crew for. xx
Another great video. I know exactly what you mean about staring at the sea. Nature is wonderful.
I do as well its sometimes hypnotising, and as someone above said fire is as well.
Especially enjoyed the discussion on routing and the judgment regarding wind and wave trade off's. You made a decision and enjoyed the benefits of that decision. Welcome to Porto in June ! Video was long, but well worth it.
Wonderful video as always thank you for sharing those beautiful moments
Great video. Thanks for sharing Bora Bora.
Wow guys thanks for the videos about to start out on my sailing adventures, and really enjoyed watching the highs and the lows (or tougher bits)
Enjoyed seeing your interaction, the dolphins.
Love it all! Enjoy your videos, thank you for making them for us to enjoy.

I am fascinated with your twin headsails. Might you do a video of how they are set up, size, how to furl, etc?
Beautiful video,
I literally love you both.
NICELY DONE GUYS x
It may be random to us but the sailors of Oceania use wave patterns to help navigate between islands and across open seas with no nav gear so they say
Nice video guys. Sail Safe
. Ant & Cid.
Another great one! Thanks for telling it as it is ( sv calico jack)
You guys make great videos you need to post more often 👍
Ahhhhhh! Captain Ben! Everything will be alright now!
Great stuff!
you guys are awesome, well done, love watching your content. He has the fittest wife too, lol.
what an exceptional video...
