    ✪ GAME SUMMARY
Baldur's Gate 3 is a 2023 role-playing video game developed and published by Larian Studios. The game is the third main installment in the Baldur's Gate series, based on the tabletop role-playing system of Dungeons & Dragons. Baldur's Gate 3 has single-player and cooperative multiplayer elements. Players can create one or more characters and form a party along with a number of pre-generated characters to explore the game's story.
Unlike previous games in the Baldur's Gate series, Baldur's Gate 3 has turn-based combat, similar to Larian's earlier games Divinity: Original Sin and Divinity: Original Sin II; all combat is based on the Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition rules
Baldur's Gate 3 takes place in the fictional world of the Forgotten Realms during the year of 1492 DR, over 120 years after the events of the previous game, Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, and months after the events of the playable Dungeons & Dragons 5e module, Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus.

Another tip. When you finish ceetain fights some of your companions will express at that moment that it's time to rest or they need to rest, this indicates they have something very important to say at camp or it will begin a cutscene with them once it's night time or when you go to sleep. Pay attention to these details because that's how their their own storylines go on but also the main story

I really need to make sure I rest more often I really don't want to miss any of the convos we can have with our crew if I don't camp enough and push forward that would be a shame.

@@Bowskii don't worry rest often, in my first playthrough I didn't rest enough and missing some night cutscenes. I was afraid that if I rest too often I might fail some missions because you know we're infected by the tadpoles and I thought we have a timer due to this lol. In reality, I can only count 3 missions (side missions not main) that you can fail if you take rest in camp after you receive the mission.
Even if you don't have the full camp resource, partial rest will still activate those scenes.

talk to your companions at camp! especially when you end the day and it’s nighttime. they have lots to say most of the time.
short rests can be used out in the world to heal companions if you’re in a rough spot, but won’t completely heal everyone nor restore all their abilities. long rests use camp supply packs or food, so make sure you’re picking up both in the world for your long rests, which are an absolute must! not just for healing and restoring, but long rests can often trigger new cutscenes with companions or other unique happenings.

@@Bowskii way way more than 10, because there are massive parts of the game that get closed off once you've made a certain choices and the amount of smaller but still often significant parts that get closed off just by merely choosing, as an example, one seemingly generic dialogue option other another and not prying into a NPC or a companion at the right time are just ridiculous. Not to mention all the classes, races, sometimes even backgrounds give you unique options and dialogue very often. And there's always ways to finish quests even without much dialogue and the NPCs more often than not will react to you doing this.
I've always played games as a completionist but when I see all the snippets of stuff that I've missed or how vastly different things have played out or how much I've still got to do even after ~180 hours to just finish the game once - I often get overwhelmed. Like I just recently discovered that the majority of NPCs have 2 lines of dialogue instead of just usual 1 like in most games. You just click on them again and you get another uniquely animated and voiced line just because they could. Like in ACT3 you get rooms with +10-20 people all having at least 2 lines of dialogue, even completely insignificant NPCs, all the guards, all the enemies, all the goblins, all the mice and pigeons and more, it's crazy.

Great content! You have done a great job picking up on some of the more complicated aspects of the game.
That being said, I have a few pieces of advice, apologies if you have already gotten these:
    1) You can fast-travel to camp at almost any time via the map screen, just click camp in the upper right corner - This doesn't lock you in to a rest and you can return to the exact spot you left by clicking "Leave Camp" on the camp map screen. - Very useful for picking up items when you meet a vendor.
    2) Immediately send ALL camp supplies to camp as soon as you get them - you need all you can get and camp is the only place you use them.
    3) I keep ALL books/letters that seem relevant to any quests (your backpack method is great) - but most are not. IF NOT - after reading them, I ADD THEM TO MY WARES, then send them to camp. They are worth keeping to sell, especially early on, but marking them for wares tells me a) I've already read them and b) they aren't necessary to keep.
    4) Adding something to wares means you are marking it to be sold ONLY not used. Helpful when you meet a vendor but be careful not to mark items you want to keep/use.

Inspirations are basically sort of like little in-game achievements for doing things that connect with the 'background' of your character or your companions. You get 25 bonus XP for them, and then yes, one free reroll you can use, and can accumulate up to 4 rerolls. Once you use a reroll to fix a failure, it's lost, but you can generally accumulate more inspirations faster than you need rerolls unless your dice luck is VERY bad.
Other commenters have touched on attacks of opportunity- there's a number of things that trigger, or can trigger, reactions. Personally, I like to go to the reactions tab (one of the tiny square icons hovering over the right end of the hotbar area) and set ALL reactions to 'ask' before happening, because as you go further in the game, you may encounter situations where you want to save reactions and NOT let Gale or whoever automatically smack someone running away... because using that reaction to hit something or shield might mean further into the turn a counterspell or other more important one can't trigger.
Also if you set all his reactions to ask, you can notice more when Astarion has the option to do his sneak attack damage and it's easier to let him do it even if you forget to use the specific sneak attack button.
PS: I love seeing another player who appreciates Lae'zel! A lot of people I've seen on YT seem to find her too abrasive and unfriendly, and I wasn't sure if it was just my knowing more about Githyanki that made me more forgiving, but her story arc is one of my top 3 companion stories and she's one of my top 3 companion romances too.

    • @Bowskii
      @Bowskii  5 місяців тому

yeah i wanna set most if not all to ask for reactions I noticed that we killed some one twice on reactions but it was so quick it was almost hard to catch. It will make the combat feel more involved even more then it already does.
So inspiration goes away and doesn't come back after a long rest? Hopefully i can get as much as possible I remember the tutorial said something about only holding 4 I think or I read it wrong.

you being a barbarian : you can also often just forcefully destroy doors and chests and walls by attacking them with a melee weapon or spells. hit left ctrl to attack stuff. you need to do a certain amount of damage though to overcome resistances, it needs to be the right type of damage too, e.g. bludgeoning or slashing, always carry a bludgeoning weapon too, mace, hammer… it is also better against undead. it is very important anyway later on against strong enemies to always examine them for weaknesses, resistances and special abilities to defeat them. before and also during a fight, because conditions can change.

Quick tip: don’t use reckless attack in situations such as when both you and your target were blinded. You had both disadvantage and advantage already from each of you being blinded and they canceled each other out and you can’t like get double-advantage or anything. It would’ve been 55% to hit either way but now they can drop the fog and everyone still have advantage on you.

Damn. That trap room is usually a party wipe for most people I watch. Even I unintentionally triggered the traps on my first attempt. Great job dude.
42:02 BG3 has a mechanic called Attacks of Opportunity. Basically, if an enemy in melee range tries to move away or move past a character, they will automatically trigger an auto-attack called an Attack of Opportunity. This was what happened here with Gale. The enemy skelly tried to run past Gale which triggered the counterattack and Gale swung his staff. This mechanic also applies to enemies which is where the Disengage action comes into play. Disengage lets you move away from an enemy without triggering the Attack of Opportunity. However, this costs an action.
42:13 That's not a sneak attack. To sneak attack, you need to actually use the Sneak Attack action on the right side box. Pretty much what you're doing here 44:06. Also, Hiding mid-combat uses an Action point, which prevents you from attacking on the same turn. Just something worth noting. Which is where the blue coloured Hide button comes in. This allows Astarian to Hide using a Bonus Action instead, allowing him to perform his sneak attack on the same turn.

so hyped for bg3 LP! Don't worry about the multi-class so much right now. Think of it this way, by controlling all the characters in your party, you're actually playing and trying out 4 different classes at the same time! Also you can just completely choose a different class if you want when you respec both for yourself and any companion, so I'd suggest just stick with the classes you wanna explore first, until lvl 5 maybe? Get a feeling for them, then go ham with trying out different things. Gonna be a great LP, looking forward for the uploads.

Another quick tip -- you can send items to camp. I wouldn't send anything you might need in the field, but things like books you've already read or camp supplies are fair game. It'll help keep encumbrance down and in the case of camp supplies -- which can get very heavy -- it'll automatically pull them from your camp storage when you need them, so no reason to keep them on you.

If you're out of melee range of an enemy, you can still use a ranged attack using a bow or something akin to it (Helpful for Barbarians who can't reach their target while in rage, even if you miss it still helps you keep your rage.). If Gale is out of spells, he has a special ability to recall a spell slot.
Rage also gives resistance to physical damage and Advantage on Strength checks and Saving Throws.
You can send items to camp. (Good if your encumbered)
You can organize the items in your inventory buy going into your inventory and selecting the sort tab.
You can also, chose how you want your armor to show up when you're out in the world.
Anyways, Lae'Zel is my favorite companion, I chose to romance her and so far it's been a blast!

I'm liking Lae'zel atm as well she is rough but I really like that in companions she probably has a really good soft side when you get to know her. Looking forward to her story arc.

You probably already found out, but barbarians can wear light and medium armor fine. You just need to check if the medium armor will get you better AC than your unarmoured defence, which is 10 + Dexterity + Constitution modifiers.
If your DEX modifier is +2, and your CON is +2, then your AC will be 10 + 2 + 2 = 14 when unarmoured.
If you get a new medium armor, you only add your dex modifier, not CON. So if the armor you use is 14, that leaves you with 16 AC (An enemy has to roll 16 or more to hit you).
I hope that's not too much math haha.

Just wanted to mention a couple things since you’ve been talking about multi classing. I find it harder in BG3 then in D&D, since you’re only getting to level 12, and it can really hurt to miss those higher level features.
I personally find barbs not to be my favorite for MC. You can’t cast while raging, and you don’t want to cut to much HP off since barbs need to be pretty tanky. Rogue is a good one to look into if you’re wanting to do a barb MC.
Drow are great for charisma classes due to their bonuses.
Sorcerer and warlock are great with paladin, beefing up a paladins spells and giving more for smiting. Paladins, bards, druids, clerics, and rangers have access to healing magic as well, so having them in your party is super helpful.
Warlocks choose their subclass at level 1, so they can be a good dip for some interesting and unique spells at low levels.
My irl fave combo is 3 gloomstalker ranger/fighter. Gloomstalker only needs 3 levels and is fantastic with martial classes, and thematically perfect for drow. Eldritch Knight fighter/warlock or sorcerer is also a great way to have both the melee and casting.
Rogue is also a great one to get a level or two since there are some great abilities early on. Expertise at level 1 lets you double your proficiency for 2 skills, which is massive. Good if you’re doing a dex based fighter.
Also, this isn’t a MC pairing, but clerics. Everybody sleeps on them, but seriously, they are killer. There’s such a difference in subclasses, and they’re so stupidly useful. Like you could have a party of only clerics and still have every niche covered.
The D&D wiki is a great resource available online for looking into classes, spells, feats, etc. D&D had so many options, and can be overwhelming. As someone that we all know enjoys combat and tactics, there are tons of optimizations that I’m sure you’d have fun with.
Don’t forget to switch characters! Rogues for traps, sleight of hand, locks, wizards have lots of utility spells that are handy for the environment, wisdom classes are typically good with survival, nature, while martial and charisma classes are typically the party face, handling persuasion, intimidation, deception, and skills that involve strength. And casters typically are good at arcana, history, etc. Though half the fun is failure, lol.
And everyone saves all the time. Every check every time. A nat 1 can always come at the worst time.

    • @Bowskii
      @Bowskii  5 місяців тому

I wont lie I'm a warrior at heart in games. I have so much love for the big heavy weapon wielders with heavy armor and such. Or sword and shields. Though barb is a bit of a twist but I'm loving it so far. I will probably spec the other barbs in the party to something else that I'm not using but all in all I love being the tanky MC in games. But this is coming from a person that played about 10 years of WoW as a main tank for a guild that did high tier raiding.

ill put my tips in but ill try not to help too much as i want to see you discover and figure things out yourself. for things like traps and lockpicking if you swapped to astarian then he would have higher bonuses and my final tip, in terms of traps you dont need to disarm everything, only the trigger for example, disarming the vents is only useful if you have already triggered the trap

Withers is the respec NPC. You can see him at camp now. Also next level up is when alot of your characters are going to have access to a subclass.
Because shadowheart is a cleric and they choose at level 1 you have to respec her if you want to choose anything but trickery cleric.
